Shock colored her features as she stared at him
âAre you sure youââ want to be seen here with me?
Then a soft smile graced her face, one of worriment, strain, but somehow acceptance and happiness shined through it as well. Hesitantly the young woman sat down with him, her eyes falling to her lap, as her own cheeks were stained from pink warmth.
âNo. I want to stay. Itâs justâ                        Iâm not reallyâ Iâm notâ                                used to kindness.â
And then she wanted to take back the words, wishing she hadnât said them. Now he was either going to ask her to dig into her story, or he was just going to think she was fishing for sympathy or compliments.
Sam scoffed, shaking his head; a faint smile across his lips. "I know how that goes," he replied quietly. Â He turned the page, absently glancing over the words before turning to the next.Â
"Great. Another weirdo-reject. Can't you hang out with someone...less...like you?" he groaned. "It's always the same sob story with you freaks." Â Lucifer mocked the warning look Sam gave him. "Oh, please."Â He snapped his fingers, smiling as Sam jumped back from his history book that erupted into flames.Â
He forced his hands to remain steady as he cautiously closed the book.  It's not real. It's not real. He looked up at Becky, really hoping she hadn't noticed that irritated look he gave the window--well, Lucifer was seated cross-legged on the table in front of the window...but he knew she couldn't see that. "S-so...what brings you to the library?"
