part 3 (final part out now!)
Happy birthday to our double bunny, Jeon Jungkook. Hope you guys enjoy :) P.S. Enjoy this mind blowing gif.
Two weeks in Japan would go by like a breeze. And Jungkook would be swimming for half of it. So explain why this man has got three whole suitcases, a carry on and a backpack strewn across the floor.
"Do you think five black t-shirts are gonna be enough? I should bring another just in case right? What if a deer spits on me? They've got those roaming around in parks over there," he said frustrated as he held the piece of clothing in his hand looking defeated.
You resisted the urge to laugh, keeping it in with an amused smile and shaking your head at your boyfriend.
"Deers don't spit, at least I don't think so and even if they did then they're probably trying to tell you that you own one too many black t-shirts," you said taking it out of his hands like prying a pacifier away from a baby.
"No, wait! But what if I need it?" he cried.
You sighed as you dropped the t-shirt onto the floor and stepped forward over the mess of things to cup his cheeks.
"Jungkook, I love you. But I think you have a hoarding problem."
He scoffed, "Do not. Also I love you too," he mumbled at the end.
You giggled and pressed a quick kiss to his lips which he accepted immediately, placing his hands on your waist to pull you closer.
"Coach is gonna kill me if he sees all these bags," he sighed resting his forehead against yours.
"Well he won't once your amazing, fantastic girlfriend helps to sort your shit out now come on," you said determined as you pulled away from him.
Jungkook watched in awe as you went through all of his bags plucking out nearly all of what was left in them. You just left some of his beloved black t-shirts, joggers, jeans, some cool jackets and of course all of his swimming gear.
"Here, roll them like this and tuck it in the corners," you said hyper focused.
Jungkook had never found you hotter. "Yes ma'am," he mumbled as he started rolling up t-shirts and arranging them in his suitcase.
"Which speedos are you going with?" you asked as you held two different pairs out.
Jungkook shrugged, "The red ones?"
You shook your head, "Nah, the blue ones make your ass look nicer."
He laughed as you tossed the fabric into the bag and moved over to you with a smirk on his face.
"Didn't know that's what you've been looking at all this time at the pool," he said cheekily grabbing yours as you were bent over one of his suitcases.
You squeaked and turned around to whack him with his speedo, "Well yeah, if it distracts me from my fear of drowning then a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do right?"
"Mhm, so right," he chuckled.
"Okay all done! Zip this one up, and then the rest of this mess is yours to deal with. And if I see you sneak one more thing in then I'm telling Taehyung and Dahyun that you own neon yellow speedos with a tiger print on them," you chipped.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, "For the last time, it was a gift!"
"From who?!"
——————————————-
"Try the onigiri and OH- you HAVE to go to the convenience store and get their pancakes and then slot a piece of their fried chicken in the middle - oh fuck yes please"
"For the love of god, Taehyung," Dahyun sighed unbelievably.
"Ignore him," she said sending him a side eye. "You'll have loads of fun and I'm sure spending it with Jungkook will make it all the better!"
"Mhm, yeah you're gonna be going at it seven days a week I just know it," Taehyung added with a low whistle.
"You're so fucking gross, Tae. Don't miss me too much," you said cringing.
"Awww, but how can I not miss my sweetest bestest precious friend when she's leaving the country for two whole weeks," he cooed as he smothered you in a hug.
You groaned and hit his back in an attempt to be freed but of course he didn't budge.
"Taehyung you're going to suffocate my girlfriend," you heard Jungkook's voice from behind you.
Taehyung let go and faked tears at the action. God, he was such an annoying brat.
"You got the tickets?" you asked excitedly turning to your boyfriend.
He grinned and held them up in front of your face and you smiled as you took them in your hands to read them like you had never seen a boarding pass in your life.
"She's leaving for two weeks and she doesn't even care," Taehyung fake cried into Dahyun's shoulder.
She only gave you a tight lipped smile and signalled for you to get outta here so that Taehyung would cut the crap. Jungkook bent down to pick up your carry on and slung it over his shoulder, his arm muscles deliciously flexing all at once. He then slid his hand into yours signalling it was time to go.
"Okay, Taehyung, good riddance. And Dahyun, please call me anytime if you get sick of the dork," you reassured.
"Oh don't worry I will be" she laughed.
"Wow, okay. Bye then, hope I never see you again," Taehyung huffed.
Jungkook laughed and said his goodbyes to your friends, and then led the way into the airport. The swim meet was a huge event at your school. They flew out 100 students every year, from participants to coaches, volunteers and more. Jungkook managed to get you a ticket because well, the school board loves him. Plus they know they'll only have a shot at winning if he actually goes to Japan this year and he was ready to stay behind if it meant you weren't coming with him. It was a sweet gesture, although you told him he might be pushing it but guess you were wrong since they were very happy to accommodate to his needs. Although it was a pretty long trip, Jungkook had to be at training every day except on weekends. It was a work trip for the guy after all. He seemed so excited, and it was cute watching him gush about the amazing pools and arenas they have in Japan and how he loved it when he competed there a couple years ago. Of course he did, the sports star. He won gold too. You remember them broadcasting the event at school in the auditorium for all the swim fanatics to watch. You weren't a swimmer, but you were there anyway to watch the golden boy. You remember how elegant he looked cutting through the water. His beaming smile at the end of the race. But what you couldn't forget most was that fear he tried to mask right before he jumped in. Jungkook looked sick to his stomach. At first, you thought nerves were just normal. But he had that same, pained look before every match and no one else seemed to notice it. Except you.
"I just need to run to the toilet for a sec," you said as you let go of his hand.
"Yeah go on, but first - passport," Jungkook said seriously as he went on airport dad mode.
You chuckled and passed yours over to him. "Okay, dad."
He smirked, still looking at the passports. "You mean okay, daddy?"
"Oh piss off," you exclaimed before heading towards the toilets hearing his gentle laugh coming from behind you. It was surprisingly really clean in there for an airport. Their hand soap smelled really good too. As you were washing your hands you heard a couple girls laughing together behind you. You turned around to find the hand dryer and saw that it was right behind them.
"Excuse me," you said politely.
"Oh sorry," one of them said as they all stepped aside.
"Thanks," you smiled.
"y/n, right?" the same girl asked.
You looked surprised to hear your name and turned around. "Yeah, sorry, do we know each other?"
"Oh, I don't know about you but all of us have heard about you for sure," one of them said giggling.
"I'm sorry? What do you mean?" you asked a bit confused.
"You're dating the swim coach aren't you?"
"Oh stop it, Luna. It's none of your business," one of them teased jokingly.
Well this was awkward.
"He got tied down pretty fast. You didn't even give us a chance, he was barely coach for two months," the girl you assumed who was called Luna said.
You laughed sheepishly, "Um, sorry? I guess?"
"He offered to give you swim lessons didn't he? Out of the blue?," the first girl said.
"Yeah, how did that happen? Were you fucking him from before?"
"Jennie!" one of the girls screamed at the crude comment as they all giggled.
Feeling extremely uncomfortable, you knew you had to excuse yourself.
"I should go-" you tried to move but they didn't budge.
"I've broken the rules before, but dating a teacher? Now that, is rebel material," Jennie said.
"Totally. I wouldn't blame you though. Jeon Jungkook is the hottest man alive. Those abs - girl save me. I would have slept with him if he came on to me."
"Have you guys ever done it in the pool? Gotten caught?" another said causing the whole group to laugh again.
"I'm surprised he hasn't been fired yet you know."
"No I think I heard the school board say they were gonna let him go after this trip. Makes sense, they need him to win this year."
"No they are not."
"Swear. My dad's on the board. He told me."
"No way they're getting rid of him, what am I supposed to look at during swim class now?"
"Girls," you interrupted firmly. "I really need to go now so, excuse me." you said before slithering past them and back into the airport.
It felt so odd hearing it come off their tongues. Dating a teacher. Dating the swim coach. Was he really going to get fired? Because of you?
________________________________________
You were on the plane already feeling so out of it from all those comments the girls said earlier. Should you tell him? Or would that just worry him unnecessarily? Because what if they weren't telling the truth? You didn't want to ruin the meet for Jungkook. You know how much he was looking forward to Japan. Was it really wrong that you were dating him? He wasn't your teacher exactly. But at the same time he was.
"y/n? Babe," a voice interrupted you from your thoughts.
"You okay?" Jungkook asked softly as he took your chin in his hand and turned it to face him.
"Oh yeah, never better," you smiled back at him as he pressed a soft kiss to your lips.
You felt his tongue brush yours as he lapped at your entrance, and you sighed heavily as you let him kiss you until he was satisfied.
He pulled away a little to whisper against your mouth, "This is gonna be a long flight," he smirked.
You couldn't stop the smile from spreading across your face as you smacked his chest and pulled away.
"Someone could see us, idiot," you mumbled.
Jungkook pretended to look behind him and looked back at you.
"Coach is in another cabin entirely, and the students are too busy enjoying the free airplane ride. We can kiss all we want, baby," he murmured caressing your face.
"Oh yeah?" you whispered bringing your face closer.
Jungkook licked his lips and gave you a small nod bumping his nose with yours.
"Then maybe you can kiss- my ass Jungkook," you raised your voice a little and sat back comfortably in your seat, draping your blanket around you and snuggling into it as you searched for movies on your TV screen. Jungkook scoffed and laughed menacingly. "Okay, suit yourself. But you should know, all this pent up frustration is only gonna show itself in our own, and very private hotel room later," he whistled.
"Well great, I'm looking forward to it," you winked.
God, this girl, he thought. He couldn't get enough of you.
The rest of the flight was comfortable. You ended up snuggled against Jungkook's chest, fast asleep for almost all of the flight. He took frequent naps in between too, but was mostly munching on the free airplane snacks. The guy had a bottomless pit for a stomach. You stirred softly and opened your eyes to see Iron Man playing on Jungkook's screen. The light in the middle of his chest nearly blinded you.
"Ow," you groaned as you sat up and rubbed your eyes.
Jungkook smiled and pulled something out of his seat pocket to hand to you.
"Here, saved you a brownie while you were asleep," he mumbled his mouth full of peanuts.
You smiled back fondly and took it from him, ripping open the plastic.
"You're the best," you yawned before taking a bite and moaning at how good plane brownies were.
"This is insanely good," you told him.
"Yeah, who knew plane brownies were it," he chuckled as he used his thumb to swipe the crumbs off your face before collecting them in his mouth.
You stared at the action bewildered, and Jungkook only smirked.
"There's more where that came from, baby," he teased.
You rolled your eyes and smiled until the thought from earlier settled in you. You always worried what people might think. Jungkook was technically your teacher. But he was in school with you just a year ago. Plus, you had graduated this year so it seemed fine. But was it really?
"Hey," he said softly.
You looked at him, the dim lights in the plane making him look ever so gorgeous.
"We don't have to do anything if you don't want to you know, I'm sorry if I -"
"No, Jungkook," you laughed softly. "That's not it. Also I know, of course. I want to, with you," you said blushing slightly thanking god that it was too dark for him to see.
"Okay," he laughed along. "So what's going on in that pretty little head of yours?"
"I just um, do you think this is inappropriate?" you asked expectantly.
"What is?" his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. God he was so endearing you just wanted to kiss that knot away.
"Us, I mean," you asked carefully.
Jungkook's expression changed as he looked at you knowingly. He took your hand in his and brushed his thumbs across your knuckles repeatedly.
"I know it's complicated. But you and I both know it's not like that," he tried to explain.
"I know! I know it's not like that, it's just," you sighed. "What would other people think? When they saw us? The school board? Aren't they aware that something's up?"
"Something's up?" Jungkook asked confused. "y/n, I've been nothing but honest with them. They never said a word about it."
"Well yeah, but, we never really told them outright, right?" you asked biting your lip.
Jungkook let out a fake chuckle. "y/n, I literally told them that if you were not on this trip then I wasn't going to leave you for two weeks. If that's not saying anything then-"
"God, yeah. I know, you're right. But also what would coach think? And the students? Us sharing a room? Kissing on the plane, it's-"
"It's what?" Jungkook asked slightly frustrated.
You looked at him silently for a second, hesitating. "...wrong."
"Jesus, y/n" he cursed, removing his hand from yours and looking away frustratedly.
"You think this is wrong?" he asked.
"I didn't mean that, I just-"
"Look I know how it looks, alright I'm aware. I told you this the first time you kissed me. But then I realised it wasn't wrong. It wasn't wrong for me to love you and have loved you all those years. What was wrong was that I had to stop, just because I finished high school a year before you," he explained running a hand over his face.
"Jungkook, I know. I know, okay?" you reassured, placing your hand on his again.
He looked at you, eyes thinking. "If you think it's wrong, then why are you with me? Why say yes? When I asked you out, when I asked you on this trip, when I asked you to move in with me?" he said sounding a little angry now.
You swallowed, unable to answer. "I-I don't know."
"You don't know?" he raised his eyebrows.
"I don't, okay! Jungkook I don't want to fight-"
"Yeah me neither, y/n" he said in irritation, looking back at the screen in front of him. You could only stare at the side of his face. Wondering how it even got to this point.
"Jungkook, I'm sorry. I should have just kept my mouth shut," you pleaded.
He looked back at you even more pissed. "Kept your mouth shut? You think the solution is hiding what you truly feel about me? About us?"
"No," you said trying your best not to break down in the middle of the plane.
Jungkook sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "y/n, I know I want to be with you. No one around here has a problem with it. No one, except you. You have to stop being so afraid of what other people think."
"I'm not afraid," you countered.
"Really? Other than Taehyung and Dahyun, do you ever tell anyone else about me? That you have a boyfriend?"
"Well, nobody asks Jungkook I'm not just about to go up and tell them!"
"Exactly. Because nobody fucking cares y/n."
You sighed, unable to take it anymore and turned to face away so Jungkook couldn't see the tears falling from your face. You unbuckled your seatbelt and got up quickly to rush to the toilets. Once you were inside and locked the door, you let the tears flow. Sometimes you got so mad at yourself for causing your own problems. This was your fault and you knew it. Jungkook has been nothing but transparent with the board, and if he says they're okay with it then why should you worry? But what if they lied to him? Just to get him to go to Japan? It would make sense then why they let you go. It would only incriminate him further. Give them an even bigger reason to let him go. Fuck. You don't want to be the reason he loses his job. You couldn't care less if people thought you were sleeping with the teacher. You didn't give a fuck what they thought of you. But you cared so much about how that made Jungkook look. A teacher taking advantage of his student. Bringing her on a trip funded by school money. It made him look sleazy. Cheap. And you fucking hated it because Jungkook was the complete and total opposite of any of those things.
You cursed to yourself and turned on the tap to splash some water on your face to wash away the tears. Then you got a grip on yourself and decided you would talk to him about it. Just not here, on the plane, where you could barely even see him or hear him over the sounds of the engine and a hundred other people around you. You walked back to your seat and Jungkook was sat silently watching a movie. You saw him give you a brief glance before his eyes returned to the screen. You sighed and sat down next to him, buckling the seatbelt when the landing announcement came on. You tried your best to keep it in. You hated the fact that Jungkook thought you didn't think highly of him. He couldn't be more wrong. You respected and admired him so much. You wanted to be with him so much. But you didn't want to ruin his career. The plane landed, and you got up from your aisle seat to grab your bags, when Jungkook's large frame crawled out of the seat next to you and stopped you.
"I got it," he muttered as he got all the bags down and you just stood there and watched.
Once the line of people started moving, he took both bags with him and trudged out of the plane. And all you could do was follow.
_______________________________________
The hotel must have regretted ever hosting a bunch of a 100 or so teenage swimmers because the noise they were causing in the lobby must have scared away all their guests. Jungkook was with the swim coach and other teachers helping to sort out rooms and keys. You were sitting by the lounge on the sofa on your phone using the free hotel WiFi as you panickedly ranted to your best friend via text.
y/n: he fucking hates me
Tae: no he doesn't, y/n, that man is head over heels for you. He's just upset. He'll be fine.
y/n: he won't after I tell him what I heard in the damn bathroom
Tae: look, y/n, just tell him. Alright? He'll understand. You guys will make up, and then make love all night.
y/n: fuck you can you just not think about sex for one second?
Tae: if you keep this from him, he'll never forgive you. tell him.
You cursed and switched off your phone. It was around 8pm at night in Tokyo. You were tired, hungry and needed a hot shower. Right then, you saw Jungkook say something to the coach before heading your way. Your eyes widened slightly looking surprised, and sat up not knowing where to look. Anywhere but into his sharp gaze.
"I'll bring the bags upstairs, you wanna hold on to the key?" he said formally as he held it out to you.
"Uh, yeah," you fumbled, trying to shove your phone in your pocket but for some goddamn reason now had to be the time you couldn't find it.
You eventually grabbed the key card from him and he lifted the bags with such ease before walking towards the lift. Just before the doors closed, a woman's hand stopped it.
"Oh! Jungkook. How did you find the flight?" she said smiling sweetly.
Motherfucking Jiyoung. Creepy ass, Ms Jiyoung who is so openly hitting on your boyfriend in front of you.
"Oh yeah, was good. Went by pretty quick but flying economy isn't the best for your back," Jungkook replied making conversation.
"Oh no, you should have come to find me. We could have walked along the corridors, stretched a little bit. I heard sometimes they let you sit in the business class lounge if there's few enough people," she said flirtatiously.
You rolled your eyes scoffing to yourself. Why was this lift so fucking slow.
Jungkook chuckled, "Yeah maybe next time."
I'm sorry wha- maybe next time?!
"On the flight back then. I'll ask them to switch seats next to you," the devil grinned.
Jungkook only smiled awkwardly in response before the lift stopped at her floor.
"This is me. Are you free for dinner later?" she asked casually.
That bitch.
"I'll let you know," he smiled politely.
That was it. All feelings of guilt you had earlier were gone. Now you were pissed at Jungkook.
"Great, see you then," she said with a wink before leaving that made your mouth fall open.
As soon as the lift door shut again you wasted no time in turning to Jungkook.
"Maybe next time?! Are you fucking kidding me?!" you snapped at him.
Jungkook looked taken aback, but soon irritation filled his features.
"y/n, calm down-"
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down Jeon Jungkook," you seethed. "What the fuck was that?"
"What happened? I don't get it, y/n, maybe I'll understand if you just stopped yelling!"
"You're going to have dinner with that woman? You're going to sit next to her on the flight? Maybe take a little stroll to first class, hm? See if she will go down on you?"
"y/n?!" he yelled in disbelief. "What the fuck are you talking about? I was just being nice. We work together," he hissed.
"I'm not fucking stupid Jungkook! You're going to let that woman ask you out to dinner with your girlfriend standing right next to you?"
Jungkook's gaze was intense as his tongue poked against the inside of his cheek.
"Well the last time I checked according to you, I’m not supposed to be your boyfriend," he said plainly.
You stood there looking at him in disbelief as you finally broke and your tears started to fall. You saw something shift in Jungkook's expression when he saw you start to cry, but you could tell he was still angry. The lift doors finally opened and you wasted no time in walking out. You frantically looked for your room even though it was hard to see through the uncontrollable tears. When you finally found it you tried swiping the card but the damn thing wouldn't work.
"y/n," you heard him say calmly from next to you as he reached out his hand. The guy still managed to catch up with you with all his damn bags.
"I got it," you sniffled pulling your hand away harshly and trying again.
"y/n, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it, that was a low blow," he said sincerely.
The door finally unlocked and you hurried inside, Jungkook following behind you with the bags. You turned on the lights and set your backpack on the table. It was a single bed room, with a couch. Jungkook already knew where he was sleeping tonight, and started unpacking there.
"Will you please talk to me?" he asked gently as he tried to turn you around by the arm.
"I'm gonna use the shower" you muttered, not looking at him. Just focusing on getting your stuff out.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair defeatedly. "Baby, this is not how I wanted our trip to go. Please," he pleaded.
"Yeah, me neither Jungkook," you said coldly before grabbing your things and heading to the shower.
________________________________________
When you came out of the shower, Jungkook was gone. His stuff was neatly placed around the room, so you know he had fully unpacked. He had created a makeshift bed on the sofa with an extra duvet and pillow that he found. You felt slightly bad because you were only on this trip because of him, but you were still upset. So he could sleep on the couch for a couple nights. As you were getting dressed, your stomach grumbled so loudly it was embarrassing.
You thought of ordering room service but you realised you were in Tokyo and so that would be a crime. Instead, you got your phone out and sent a text to this girl you knew from your netball club that was on the same trip. She invited you to grab dinner with her friends, and so you met her outside in 10 minutes. You didn't see Jungkook around at all when you left, but ignored it and decided to focus on Tokyo instead. Every thing you put in your mouth then on was divine. Tokyo's street food was amazing. The girls you met ended up being a fun bunch and were really sweet. They helped take your mind off what happened earlier, and what better way to do that than with alcohol. After having a couple pints of beer and some yakitori you were all ready to hit the hay. You guys got a taxi back because you were so tipsy you were swaying. When you guys got back to the hotel, you embarrassingly tried to sneak in hoping that coach or another teacher wouldn't catch you drunk. The mission was a success, and you said goodnight to the girls before heading up to your room.
Until you were at the door. And then you realised, you couldn't get in.
"Fuck!" you sad a bit too loudly. "Oops," you whispered.
Of course, you left your key card behind. Now you had to do the embarrassing thing and knock. Just before your hand could reach the door, it opened and you nearly fell in before a couple of strong arms caught you by the waist.
"God, there you are. I was worried you got lost or something - wait, are you drunk?" Jungkook asked brushing the hair from your face.
"Ugh," you groaned and pushed past him to enter the room. You set down your stuff as Jungkook stood behind you. He was only in a black tank top and boxers getting ready for bed. He only made things harder.
"You could have texted," he sighed walking over to you with a paracetamol and water.
You took it from him and swallowed it quickly, setting the glass down and turning to go into the shower again but he stopped you.
"y/n, I know you're upset and I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Baby please, just talk to me. I won't even look at Ms Jiyoung's direction again. Fuck, I'll even quit my job if I have to-"
"No!" you yelled suddenly looking panicked, surprising Jungkook. "No don't do that," you said tearing up.
"Oh, y/n," he sighed as he hugged you and you cried in his arms. "It's okay," he soothed.
You sniffled and pulled away from his chest looking up at him.
"I do love you. And you are my boyfriend. And everyone knows it," you sniffled. "I'm just scared," you whispered.
"I know, sweetheart," he said brushing the strands from your face and wiping your tears. "Because I am too."
"You are?" you asked your voice breaking, the sound nearly shattering Jungkook's heart.
"Of course I am. When it comes to you, everything scares me. That's how much I love you," he whispered pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
You held his wrist tightly as you kissed him back. Pulling away, you wrapped your arms around his neck and sighed. Jungkook rubbed your back fondly, the two of you just holding each other for a minute. So afraid that if either of you let go, you wouldn't have the strength to hold each other up any longer. You wanted to tell him so bad. That his career was on the line. That he could lose everything. That you were the problem. That this needed to end. But hearing him say that, you knew that if you left right now, it would break him. It was also fair to say that you were selfish. You loved him and you wanted to be with him. And if he ends up hating you for it, then so be it. The next morning, Jungkook was up bright and early for swim training. But he had to get a workout in first. You heard the alarm go off at around 4 in the morning, making you groan and pull the duvet further up over your head. You could hear Jungkook shuffling and not long after the blaring tune stopped followed by feet padding on the floor. You're not sure when you drifted off again, but you remember the sound of the shower being turned on. You were then woken up by the feeling of soft kisses and murmurs against your cheek.
"Hey beautiful," you heard Jungkook whisper.
You hummed in response but kept your eyes shut. You felt his hands threading through your hair softly, as he moved his face closer until his lips were brushing yours.
"I'm gonna head out now, but I'll see you in the afternoon okay?" he mumbled, before softly pressing his lips against yours, sucking on your lower lip in the process.
This man was driving you mad, and it was just the ass crack of dawn.
You whined and shuffled so that your face was better angled towards his, slowly wrapping your hand around his neck before smoothing it into his hair.
Jungkook chuckled softly, pulling away. Your eyes fluttered open and the sight of him nearly knocked the air out of you. Sometimes you wonder how you got so lucky.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty," he teased, swiping stray strands of hair from your face.
You sighed and looked down at his chest, using your index finger to trace a line all the way down to his stomach and then to his abs. You fisted his shirt softly before looking up at him.
"Do you really have to go?" you asked softly.
Jungkook's heart did a total backflip inside his chest, nearly choking on his breath.
"I'm sorry baby, you know I'd give anything to stay in bed with you all day," he rasped before leaning down and capturing your lips with his again.
The two of you sighed in content as you pulled away, still looking at each other.
"Are we still going to that pet cafe later?" you asked.
Jungkook smiled, "Yeah of course, if you still want to."
You nodded and smiled fondly in return. Jungkook's thumb brushed your cheek one last time before he grunted in frustration.
"Fuck, I really don't want to leave," he complained, pouting slightly.
"It's okay, pretty boy. You'll survive. Plus, you're actually going to have to work if we want to continue staying here," you teased, sitting up in bed, making the sheets slip off and your bare legs now on display.
Jungkook's eyes drifted low, the sight of you in one of his oversized t-shirts and just your underwear nearly made his brain short circuit.
"I could call in sick," he shrugged, hand reaching out to caress the smooth skin of your thighs.
"Now that's not coach material," you teased as he leaned closer, hand slowly inching upwards towards the band of your underwear.
"They'll survive," he whispered before dipping his head into your neck and sucking on your soft skin. His cold hands were now roaming under your shirt, making you shiver while the sensation was lighting your body on fire.
"Jungkook," you giggled as you smacked his hands away and he sat back, giving you the cutest boyish grin.
"Get to work," you commanded, a soft yawn then falling from your lips. "I'll see you later," you added, planting a kiss to his cheek, before laying back down in bed.
He sighed dramatically and stood up, grumbling a 'fine' before grabbing his gym bag and throwing it over his shoulder begrudgingly. He gave you one last kiss, to which you had to swat him away after a few seconds because you knew if you left it any longer he wouldn't have left the bed. When Jungkook shut the door behind him, the guilt you were carrying from last night slowly seeped in again. It was growing, and you could feel it. There was no denying that you wanted the best for Jungkook, and that the last thing you wanted was to come between him and his career. You had thought that when the board knew, that the very hurdle you were so worried about was over. But that was before you knew they were considering letting him go. You needed to find out for sure, because it made no sense that they would want to get rid of the one man that brought the school's swim team to such great heights. The restlessness forced you out of bed. You hopped in the shower, got dressed and threw a light jacket on. It was the middle of spring in Japan, and as gorgeous as it was, you couldn't ignore the nip in the air. Before the elevator could reach the bottom floor, it opened to a Ms Jiyoung waiting patiently at the entrance.
"Is this going down?" she asked, pretending not to know.
"Uh, yes," you responded curtly.
She stepped in, glancing to the right to see if her button was already lit up, before staring straight back at the metal doors. There was a tough silence between the two of you, before she made the first move.
"Enjoying your stay?" she asked, not looking at you.
Your eyes narrowed into the back of her head, trying to decipher her intentions.
"Mhm, you?" you said deciding to be short with her.
"Is Jungkook at swim practice?" she asked, ignoring your question.
You had to do everything in your power to stop yourself from hitting this woman.
"I'm surprised you're not already there," you responded with a slight snark in your tone, making her lips curve up.
"I'm sure Jungkook is aware of how big a fan I am, despite my choice to sit out today. He knows I'm a busy woman."
Your blood boiled.
"And what's gotten you so held up?" you muttered.
"A board meeting. Just online today."
Your ears perked up at that. Were they going to be discussing Jungkook? Maybe Ms Jiyoung had the information you needed. But fuck, how were you going to get it out of her?
"Must be important if you're missing seeing my boyfriend in action," you added with a fake niceness laced in your tone.
You could feel her scowl at that. "He's actually a very important part of the discussion."
Fuck.
At some point, a sudden courage took over you, making your hand dart out towards the stop button. The elevator halted in its tracks, startling Ms Jiyoung and yourself. She turned around, giving you an incredulous look.
"What on earth do you think you're doing?" she said sternly.
"Look, I know you don't like me very much but that doesn't bother me. Because I know despite the many levels of wrong here, that you actually care about Jungkook. So if you and your crew of out-of-touch asshats even so much as think of firing him, then you're out of your damn minds. So I need you to tell me the truth, right now. How long has he got left?"
The woman stared at you for what felt like an eternity. You could see the gears turning in her head, but her gaze remained sharp. After a deep breath, she spoke.
"A month."
Your body froze, and you could feel the air grow thick. A month. So it was true. That would give him just enough time to bring the school to victory and return back to Korea. Those dicks.
"So if I were you, I'd clear 'my boyfriend's' name so that he'd have a better shot. I don't need to explain this to you, but Jungkook is a good guy and he doesn't deserve this especially not because of how you've fucked it all up for him."
That stung. Ms Jiyoung reached out for the button, pressing it hard and quick which got the lift moving again. All you could do was stand there and take it in. She wasted no time in walking out when the lift doors opened, and you wandered out after her, walking aimlessly. You were supposed to meet Jungkook in an hour. But with a heavy heart and mind, it was so difficult to pretend that everything was normal. You sat in an empty chair in the lobby, pulling out your phone to check the time, only to see a message from your boyfriend.
JK <3 We're wrapping up soon, so I'll finish early. See you in 20?
Fuck, you needed to leave right now. With your head in a daze, you walked out of the building and booked an Uber. Your phone pinged again once you were inside.
JK <3 I can't wait to see you baby xx
Your heart skipped a beat, nothing uncommon when it came to Jungkook. You replied quickly that you were on your way. Despite the thought of Jungkook calming you down a little, your mind was still in a frenzy. You had no idea what to do. You wanted to tell him so badly, but you knew that if you did, Jungkook would only be stubborn and refuse to let you go. He'd insist you were more important, but you couldn't let him do that because you knew that his career mattered more than anything. His love for swimming should never have to be compromised because of your selfishness. In the middle of your thoughts, the taxi came to a halt. You broke out of your trance and scrambled to pay the man, before realising that you had left your wallet back at the hotel. You cursed internally, preparing yourself to have that awkward conversation in your very broken Japanese.
"U-um, sumimasen but-"
A sharp knock interrupted you. The driver rolled his window down confused, and there your boyfriend was. Sunglasses propped up on his head, large tshirt covering his defined chest, and his heavily tattooed hand reaching into the car.
"Here you go, keep the change," he said smoothly in Japanese.
You were still in shock as to how he even found you, but making eye contact with him, he shot you a grin signaling for you to step out. You thanked the driver and hopped out of the car, straight into Jungkook's arms. He caged you in, his body large and toned against your small one. His hands rested dangerously close to your ass as he looked at you.
"Hi," he mumbled, eyes darting towards your lips.
"Hi," you giggled, placing your arms around his neck loosely. "How did you even find me?"
"I'll find you in any universe, baby."
You groaned, rolling your eyes at how cringe he was being, making him chuckle.
"We have a shared Uber account remember? I just got notified," he reveals still laughing.
"Right," you smiled. "How was training?"
He nodded, "It was good, I think they're definitely ready for the season but you can never be too sure."
You hummed, "I think they'll be fine as long as they have you.
The pang of guilt struck you again. But at the same time, you saw something unfamiliar flash through Jungkook's eyes. Before you could think about it, his expression went back to normal.
Jungkook smiled fondly, "Come here."
Leaning forward, he placed a firm kiss on your lips, pouring his hours of longing he had for you since the morning.
You giggled, pulling away. "You missed me that much?"
"I always miss you when you're not around, you know that," he said bashfully.
"Ugh, you need to stop being so romantic or I'm gonna hurl," you joked.
Jungkook scoffed, "Okay, are you calling me clingy?"
"And are you saying you aren't? You practically dragged me to another country because you couldn't be apart from me for two weeks, let alone an entire afternoon it seems like," you teased.
Jungkook scoffed playfully again, acting all tough. He removed his hands from your waist and stepped back, crossing his arms as they flexed deliciously.
"Well I'm sorry that I wanted to treat my girlfriend to a romantic holiday. I can't help it, it's not like I'm not in love with you or something."
Your eyes widened at that slightly, giggling at him. "Okay tough guy, I love you too but we better get going or we'll be late for our booking," you said patting his very strong shoulder and then linking your arm with his to drag him with you. Jungkook cracked a smile, giving in and kissing the top of your head as you began walking, teasing you about how you just professed your love to him in the streets of Tokyo as if he didn't say it first. The pet cafe was busy, but oh my lord the cuteness overload. It was too much to bear. Jungkook kept taking pictures of you with the little fur babies, a big smile on his face from seeing how much fun you were having. You got especially attached to a golden retriever named Miso.
"Jungkook," you cried dramatically as you hugged the big ball of fluff. "Can we keep him?" you pleaded.
Jungkook chuckled, recording you with his phone. "y/n, maybe we can consider adopting a dog that doesn't live thousands of miles away from us."
"But it's Miso," you whined. "I'd do anything for you, you know that?" you cooed as you cupped the poor dog's face in your hands, smothering him with affection.
"Yah, she doesn't even look at me like that, consider yourself lucky," Jungkook complained pretending to speak to Miso, making you laugh.
You took out your phone to take more pictures of Miso, when you realised that Jungkook had found another furry friend.
"Aren't you handsome?" he cooed as the doberman jumped onto him.
You smiled, and began recording their cute interaction.
"Why were you all alone bud, hm?" Jungkook asked, petting him affectionately, giving him a few satisfying scratches.
"Bam's a bit shy, the rest of the dogs sort of overpower him in terms of personality. So he's usually by himself most days, but it's lovely to see how attached he is to you," a member of staff chipped in.
Jungkook looked at her with a hint of sympathy and then back to Bam.
"Bam? Yeah, is that your name? That's a good boy Bam, do you know any tricks?"
You fetched a spare treat out of your pocket that you grabbed for Miso earlier.
"Guk," you called out, handing him the treat and moving closer to Bam who was now sniffing you.
"Thanks, baby. Look Bam," Jungkook said excitedly, breaking off bits of the treat as he taught him to sit and bow.
"He's really bowing, Jungkook," you laughed, filming him.
"Yeah, you're a good boy aren't you. So polite," he cooed, petting him fondly.
The staff soon announced that the session was over, and as much as you had a hard time parting ways with Miso, you nearly teared up when you saw how Bam refused to leave Jungkook's side.
"It's okay boy, I'll come back and visit hm?" he said, heart almost breaking himself.
Jungkook got up and tried to leave, but Bam kept barking from the other side of the glass door.
"Oh, Jungkook," you said sadly. "We have to come back."
He turned to you with a pained expression, nodding. But you knew it was because if he spoke, his tears would fall. You put your shoes on, and left the building with a heavy heart. Man, that was supposed to be a fun activity but the two of you were so emotional you didn't speak for the first ten minutes.
"Hey, are you hungry?" you asked to lighten the mood.
Jungkook looked down at you, hand intertwined with yours. "Starving," he replied smiling.
You smiled back, "Good. Dahyun told me of a good spot, it's not too far from here."
You pulled your phone out trying to get Google Maps out.
"So it says we could walk but it's around 25 minutes but we could also take the bus and it'll save us like 10 minutes, but since the weather's nice I don't really mind walk- Jungkook?"
You heard a sniffle, and looked up to see you boyfriend's eyes turning shimmery and red.
"Hey, it's okay," you said quickly wiping the tears from his face and enveloping him in a hug.
He hugged back, burying his head in your neck.
"I'm fine, sorry I just-"
"I know. But you can feel sad, that's okay."
He nodded, tightening his grip on you.
"Man," he chuckled pulling away and quickly wiping his tears. "Who knew one dog could get me all worked up like this," he teased trying to lighten the mood again.
You looked at him sympathetically, and then took his hand in yours.
"We're still here for the next two weeks or so. Why don't we come visit every day hm?"
"Every day? y/n we don't have to-" he said shocked.
"Why not? It's not too far from us and I'm sure after the very touching interaction between you and Bam, they might give us a discount," you quipped.
Jungkook smiled, not just any kind of smile, but a smile that warmed your entire heart. You thought about how much you loved him just then. How much he meant to you. And how much it hurt to see him sad. It practically crushed you at the mere thought of not having him around anymore. But you couldn't lie to him or yourself any longer. He deserved the world. So it was decided. After the tournament, you were breaking up with Jungkook.
________________________________________________________
Despite it being one of the most romantic days you've had with your boyfriend, the thought of having to leave him was crushing you. At night, Jungkook was in the shower after numerous attempts of coaxing you to go in with him before you had to argue that your first time with him would absolutely not be in the shower, to which he actually saw some reason. Pervert. So that brought you to the balcony with Taehyung on the other end of the line.
"It's killing me, Tae."
"y/n, you know I have loads of respect for you and have always thought of you as brilliant, but right now, you're being a huge fucking idiot."
You sighed, "Then what do you suggest I do? Ruin everything he has busted his ass for?"
"No, I'm saying talk to him like normal bloody adults do in a relationship."
"You don't understand. It's Jungkook. He never puts himself first. If I tell him, I know he'll convince me out of it and I can't have that."
"So you'd rather lie to him and break his heart?"
You swallowed, staring intensely at the Tokyo scenery before you.
"I'd rather he gets to keep what he deserves."
You could hear Taehyung sigh loudly on the other end. "So what? It's just over?"
"I'll tell him after the tournament. I don't want to screw things up even more," you said voice just above a whisper and close to tears.
"I can't tell you what to do, but like I said y/n, if you don't tell him what you know, he'll never forgive you."
"I don't care, Tae. He doesn't need to forgive me, he doesn't need me. What he needs is someone he can be with that doesn't come with a shit ton of consequences."
Taehyung was silent for a bit before continuing. "Okay, but call me after. I don't want you to be alone like that. Where is he now?"
"In the shower."
"I'm surprised he didn't ask you to join him," he teased, lightening the mood again.
"He did, I said no," you grumbled embarassed.
"What?! You denied the Jeon Jungkook shower sex? Wait - have you guys even done it?"
"God, Taehyung, you really need to learn to mind your own fucking business," you seethed.
"You haven't, haven't you? At least do it before you leave him-"
You nearly choked. "That's a horrible joke to make right now, you asshole. What the hell!?"
"Okay, sorry I pushed it. Aren't you so glad you called me?" he joked like his usual self.
You sighed, head starting to hurt. "I'm leaning towards cutting all contact with you, I was actually at peace for once."
"I missed you too, by the way. Okay listen I won't keep you but, you know you can call or text anytime right?"
As much as your best friend knew how to grind your gears, you were incredibly grateful for him. Taehyung always had your back.
"Yeah, thank you," you said your voice heavy.
"It'll be okay y/n. Now go get sex."
"I'm not having sex!"
"Who's not having sex?"
You look up and you nearly respond 'not me' because with the Jungkook that was standing in front of you right now, how could anyone possibly resist? A white hotel towel hung low on his tiny waist, while his golden damp skin was on full display. Tattoos and collarbones out. His abs. His pecs. His hair slightly wet, his frame covering most of the entrance with just how large he was and you couldn't stop looking.
"I-", you froze. Jungkook stepped out onto the balcony with an amused smirk on his lips.
He took the phone from your hands in one swift motion while you were still frozen in place, pressing the speaker button.
"Oi you, how's it going Taehyung?" he greeted.
"Jungkook! Listen man, y/n's been acting like she's got a stick up her arse lately so I'm gonna need you to release all that tension if you know what I mean."
Jungkook chuckled as your face turned even redder than it was before from seeing Jungkook in just a towel.
"Oh my god, give me that," you grumbled as you took the phone back into your hands.
"I'm never speaking to you again, goodbye."
"Love you both! Go get some!"
And with that you forcefully pressed the bright red button and groaned. Jungkook laughed at your frustration, pulling you closer by the waist. Your proximity to his bare chest was making your brain spiral.
"You need to not come so close," you mumbled, swallowing.
Jungkook looked almost offended, before he turned concerned "Why, what's wrong?"
"You're making me lose my mind, that's what's wrong. Go put on a shirt," you whined, pushing at his chest.
Jungkook's eyes showed sign of relief as he giggled, refusing to move any further. Instead, he only pulled you closer, flush against his chest.
"Cute," he hummed, looking down at you as he traced a finger down your jawline then to your neck.
He leaned forward, lips brushing against yours and his breath hot on your face.
"You're so pretty," he whispered, making your skin tingle.
He pressed soft kisses down your neck, sucking on the spot just below your ear. Your hands went up to his shoulders, and then intertwined in his hair.
No, you can't.
"My gorgeous girl. I can't believe you're all mine," he murmured, leaving marks on your skin.
You let out a soft moan, arching your back slightly. The smell of his shampoo was intoxicating.
You'll break him.
Jungkook pulled back to look at you. The sight of you made it hard for him to compose himself. Your lips red, cheeks flushed, neck littered with marks- his marks. Your eyes hooded.
This is wrong.
Jungkook's fingers slowly moved it's way up your shirt, drawing over the soft skin of your stomach and you shivered in response. That made him smirk slightly. He loved the effect he had on you. He held your waist, turning you around so that you were facing the city while his back pressed against yours. His lips were on your neck again, as his hands moved higher up your front until they reached the cups of your bra. He hesitated, teased them with his fingers by drawing an outline against them. Then slowly, with your permission, he slipped one hand in and began rubbing slow circles on your left nipple making your body jerk in surprise.
Fuck, you needed him.
"Baby, we don't have to if you don't want to-" Jungkook spoke but you cut him off with a kiss.
He held the back of your neck, keeping your mouth close to his. Your tongues met as the two of your grasped tighter at each other.
Breathlessly, you managed to say, "I want to."

"As much as we give him shit, Taehyung's pretty spot on sometimes," Jungkook joked.
You were laying on his chest, his right arm circling your body and holding you close with your leg swung over him. He was lazily drawing patterns onto your thigh, just underneath where the material of his shirt ended.
You snorted into his chest, "Yeah, never tell him that though." Jungkook smiled, kissing the top of your head. "Are you sure you're okay?" he asked softly.
You giggled. He was so concerned, it was cute.
"Really, I'm fine Guk. Never been better," you grinned up at him, making him snicker and catch your lips with his again.
He sighed in content as he pulled away. "I love you," he called softly.
There was a sharp pang against your heart at that. You swallowed thickly, sitting up and straddling him, taking Jungkook by surprise. He placed his hands on your ass to steady you, looking at you in amusement.
"Jungkook, I want you to know that whatever happens, I'll never love anyone as much as I love you," you said, getting slightly emotional.
His expression changed then, as he sat up and pulled you closer.
"Hey, you know there's no one else for me but you," he cooed, cupping your face.
You were silent for a minute. Thinking.
"Is something bothering you, pretty? Did I move too soon? I'm so sorry if you feel like I pushed you-"
"What? No- Jungkook, absolutely not. I don't regret it, I would never," you reassured him. He nodded, eyes searching for an answer in yours.
"I just...sometimes I wonder if I deserve you. I'm so lucky to have you and I-" you choked. Fuck.
"y/n," Jungkook held your face in his hands, concern washing over his features again.
"I never want to hurt you. I love you so much, I don't think I could be without you," you said tears now streaming down your face. It was so hard, not being able to confide in him. It was even harder to do the right thing. Jungkook wasted no time in pulling you into a hug as he cradled your head. You sniffled into his chest, trying to regain composure.
"Now where is this all coming from baby, hm? I love you more, and I'll always be here. I'm always with you," he reassured, shushing you as he stroked your hair. But he wasn't. He wasn't always going to be here. He wasn't always going to love you. Not after what you were going to do. After what you've done. You had to keep it in. Just a few weeks left. You swore to make it the best two weeks of your lives.
"Man," you sniffled, wiping your tears away quickly. "Who knew one water-loving man could get me all worked up like this," you joked, making him smile wide.
He sighed, wiping the last of your tears. "You don't even know half of what you do to me, y/n."

The days passed by in a flash after that night. Maybe it was because you were having the time of your life, with the love of your life. Jungkook met up with you at the pet cafe every day after training. You'd visit Bam, bring him special treats, and the cafe owners knew the two of you by heart. You of course, reunited with Miso. But the next few times you visited, he'd taken a better liking to Jungkook, causing you to throw a fit.
"You backstabbing bitch," you gasped when Miso ran over to Jungkook instead of you. Jungkook snickered as you scowled at him, although it was hard to resist breaking into a smile at the sight of them playing together. Bam grew more and more fond of the two of you, and slowly started to show his true colours. The playful puppy that was buried in him started to come out. After the pet cafe, you'd drag Jungkook to all these food spots you wanted to try. He'd pretend to complain, but in actuality loved food as much as you did and couldn't deny that every spot you brought him to served food that was absolutely scrumptious.
"You can really taste the- oi! You literally said you didn't want any," you exclaimed as Jungkook sneakily took a giant bite out of your shaved ice. He smiled sheepishly, flinching as you smacked his arm.
You sighed, smiling. "Told you it was good." You reached for your matcha to have a sip, but the cup was so light you realised it was gone.
"Jeon Jungkook," you warned.
"Look, I was thirsty!"
"I literally offered to get you one, but no, you insisted it tastes like grass. So either you agree that is doesn't or you have the tastebuds of a cow!"
"Okay fine woman, you were right. Happy? Now be a doll and get me another, I'm parched."
The daggers you sent Jungkook's way made him shut up after that. He even bought you another matcha and an ice cream to make up for it. There were many trips to convenience stores, with Jungkook carrying heaps of snacks back to your hotel room and getting excited as he shared them with you. It was so cute, you tackled him and smothered him with kisses - which turned into a rather steamy sessions which also turned into something else. A very rigorous activity. You went strawberry picking one of the afternoons, Jungkook getting excited whenever he found a jumbo-sized one and holding it up high to show you. He paid and found a spot for you to sit down by the gardens and pulled out the best of his picks to give to you, placing them into your basket without hesitation. It made your heart melt.
"Babe, it's okay. I have loads, you eat some."
"Shh, I picked them for you."
When you kissed him just then, he tasted of sweet strawberries and Jungkook. You vowed never to forget it. It was a day before the tournament. You visited Bam alone that day, because Jungkook had to stay late for practice. He got out at around dinner time, and as you shared your skewers of yakitori, you showed him a bunch of videos of the cute pup who you managed to teach to speak.
"Pretty sure he was saying Jungkook," you said proudly. Jungkook laughed fondly, taking the phone into his hands to get a closer look.
"I can't wait to see him before we leave. I need to get him something special." You nodded, staying silent, because you knew you wouldn't be there to witness that moment.
"Also, I was going to wait until tomorrow but, I got you something," he said, reaching into his jacket pocket. You watched him carefully, feeling the guilt creep in already.
"Jungkook, you know you don't have to buy me things-"
"What, I can't buy my love a present to show her how much I think about her?" he retorted, making you smile in defeat. Jungkook handed you a wrapped present. You opened it carefully, trying not to ruin his wrapping skills.
"It's okay, baby, just rip it open," he chuckled.
You looked at him again to make sure before ripping it open with more force. It was a small rectangular box, slightly bigger than your palm. You looked at him confusedly as he smiled and ushered you to open it. Opening the lid, you pulled out a bunch of pictures. Was that, you? Your breath hitched as you shuffled through them one by one. These were prints developed from what looks like a film camera. Jungkook's film camera, the one he carries with him everywhere.
"I hope it's not too much but, I just wanted you to see you the way that I do."
There was one with you at Nara Deer Park, squatting down, hand outstretched towards a baby deer, his mother standing protectively beside. Your hair was caught in the wind, the cherry blossoms settling around you. Another taken after dinner. You were barefoot, your heels in your hands and you were smiling looking off to your left. At something, you can't remember what, but you remember feeling so happy to be there. Another when you were asleep in Jungkook's arms, hair splayed across him, your eyes shut and lips parted. Your hands holding on to his even in your sleep. His shirt on you and his tattooed arm resting by the side of your face. Another from the time you stood with a funny looking statue you found in a public garden. You remember the sound of his giggles. Why else would you be grinning ear-to-ear like that? And another. With you and Bam. A big dog grin on his face, and an equally big smile on yours as you hugged him and the two of you smiled at the camera.
"That one's my favourite," Jungkook mumbled, smiling softly.
You didn't deserve him. That was all you could think about. Who would think to do such a wonderfully thoughtful thing? You inhaled sharply, tucking the photos back into the box. Looking back at your boyfriend, tears welled up in your eyes.
"I love it. It's wonderful. I love you," you said just above a whisper.
Before you knew it, Jungkook was at your side, pulling you into his embrace. How were you ever going to let him go?
"I didn't even know when you took some of these," you sniffled. He kissed the top of your head, swaying your bodies side to side.
"Not my fault your so photogenic," he teased.
"I literally am not," you argued. "You're just so talented and so good at every bloody thing it's ridiculous."
Jungkook chuckled, wiping away your tears and pressing a kiss to your nose.
"That's very kind of you but, I think you did most of the work here," he said gesturing to the photos.
You sighed, tucking the box into your bag safely and then returning to hug him. The two of you sat there for a while, talking, laughing, Jungkook getting more handsy with each minute passing because he'd had too much beer. The two of you were giggling at the most unfunny sights on the walk back to the hotel. It was a long day, and an emotional one. As soon as you got back, you picked up your pyjamas and headed towards the shower, until you felt a hand tug on yours.
"Now that it's way past our first time, can we finally have shower sex?" he asked shamelessly, leaning into you and kissing the shell of your ear.
"God, you never run out of stamina, do you?"
"When it comes to you? Never."
You rolled your eyes, blushing slightly. His doe eyes pleaded at you and you groaned in defeat. "Alright, alright," you gave in, as if you weren't going to enjoy every second of what was coming next. Jungkook wasted no time in picking you up and throwing you over his shoulder, making you squeal. He smacked your ass playfully making you gasp. He set you down on the sink top, your hands on his shoulders as you regained your balance. Jungkook was looking at you with an intense fire in eyes, his tongue poking out to toy with his lip ring. Your eyes darted to his mouth. You leaned forward, kissing the silver rings making him inhale sharply as he pressed his lips to yours harder. In one swift motion, he was pulling your top off and unhooking your bra. Your hands reached under his shirt, feeling the taut muscles threatening to burst from under his skin. Jungkook kissed down your neck, then to your chest, his fingers finding his way between your thighs and under your skirt. Before you could protest, he ripped apart your stockings like it was made of paper.
"Jungkook," you gasped.
"I'll buy you another one, baby" he murmured, lips attaching to your neck again and his fingers coming into contact with your folds through your underwear.
You moaned softly, hands gripping his hair as you begged him to touch you.
He pulled away, smirking.
"Already wet? We haven't even gotten to the shower, pretty."
You huffed, unable to speak as he was still rubbing you so deliciously.
"Does that feel good, baby?"
"Jungkook," you whined, "Fuck, yes."
He hummed in approval, leaning forward to kiss you hungrily. His tongue pushed past your lips, making you moan softly into his mouth. He groaned, pulling away as if he was restraining himself. Removing his hands from you, he stepped into the shower and turned the water on. He turned around to look at you, gaze still dark. You were truly a sight to behold. Skin glowing, chest on full display, your hair messy and lips plump. Your skirt ridden up above your waist and your lace panties now very evidently soaked through. Jungkook walked over, removing his shirt in the process. He unbuckled his belt, shimmying out of his pants while your eyes fixated on the large bulge now growing. He held your waist as he picked you up and set you down on the floor like you weighed nothing. His fingers hooked into the band of your skirt and panties at the same time, pushing them down. Your hands rested on the sink behind you as you let him undress you. The two of you stepped into the shower, Jungkook going in first and then pulling you in with a neediness that made you stumble into his chest. The water was warm and the steam was now fogging up the glass. Jungkook kneeled down, your hand tangling into his wet hair as he placed kisses across your inner thighs, making you shudder.
"This okay, baby?" he murmured, lips dangerously close to your core.
"Mhm," you whimpered, bracing for contact you needed so desperately.
He worked his fingers on you, making you come twice in less than ten minutes. He praised you, marked you, and then fucked you until you were screaming his name. The two of you finally managed to shower after, with Jungkook finishing before you because you needed to wash your hair. He insisted on staying and helping out, but you pushed him out saying that your knees were about to give out and round number - you don't even know at this point - might literally break you. And so Jungkook was left to sulk on the bed, scrolling through his phone as he waited for you to join him. You were blow drying your hair with the smallest hair dryer known to man. There was barely any air coming out of that thing.
"What's taking so long?" Jungkook called out.
"It's the stupid hair dryer, at this rate I'll need 2 hours," you huffed.
"Want some help?"
"I've had enough help from you today, thanks," you replied sarcastically, making him chuckle.
The whirring of the machine filled the silence in the air accompanied by the random sounds of reels from Jungkook's phone. Just then, his phone pinged. An email. The title caught his eye.
Your Online Check-In is Open
Jungkook confusedly clicked on the notification. This wasn't his flight, it was yours. You had him down as your emergency contact and had added his email to your booking from when the two of you first bought your tickets together. Your flight was tomorrow? That had to be a mistake. Jungkook scrolled down and opened the e-ticket, seeing that in fact you had a flight back home at 10pm tomorrow night. Getting off the bed, he walked to the shower and stood at the entrance.
"Babe, I think there's a mistake they must have booked you back on the wrong flight. It says you're leaving tomorrow," he said innocently holding his phone out to you.
"What? Wait give me a second," you said before turning the hair dryer off and smoothing your hair down.
"What was that?" you asked, walking towards him.
"Your flight. They must have made a mistake, look it says you're flight's tomorrow," he said concerned.
Your entire demeanor changed. Your body froze. How the hell did he know about that?
"I-It does?" you stuttered, taking the phone from him pretending to be surprised.
Your booking confirmation was right there. On his phone. You'd completely forgotten about adding him to your booking. They must have sent you the reminder on your email too. Fuck fucking fuck.
"I can call them and change it tomorrow morning. Or if not, the school will pay the fare difference since it was a mistake on their end," he said casually as he took the phone back, looking into how to amend the booking on his phone.
You were panicking. How were you supposed to get out of this? You felt so horrible about lying to him.
"That's really weird though, they got everyone else's right. And we booked ours together so it makes no sense as to why - oh wait look here's another..."
And then Jungkook went silent. His gaze was glued to his phone, eyes scanning the screen. And when he looked back up at you, it felt like the world was crashing down.
"There's a receipt," he started off slowly.
All you could do was look at him with worried eyes.
"This isn't a mistake, is it?" he asked cautiously.
You swallowed, not knowing what to say.
"y/n, I really need you to say something."
You couldn't. If you did, you'd start crying. If you did, it would all come out. The tournament was tomorrow. But the way he was looking at you like he couldn't believe you'd do this, it was too painful.
"I don't understand. Do you want to leave? Did I do something? You could have just told me, I would have helped-"
"No, Jungkook," you cut him off, voice just above a whisper.
He was offering to help. You were leaving him. And even then, he was apologising. He wanted to make it right for you.
"For once, would you please stop thinking about me?" you said, tearing up.
Jungkook looked confused. "Wha- what do you mean?"
You exhaled sharply and looked to your side, avoiding his gaze.
"I'm," you started, but failed.
Jungkook was just watching you. His eyes searching, mind racing. He didn't know what was wrong. And you didn't know how to tell him. You sighed and mustered up the courage to answer.
"I changed my flight," you said.
Jungkook's expression was tinged with hurt.
"Okay..." he said slowly. "Why? And why didn't you tell me?" he asked calmly.
Your heart was breaking slowly, and it was so difficult to keep it together.
"I was going to," you whispered.
"When?" he asked clearly a little annoyed.
"Tomorrow, I was-"
"You're flight's tomorrow-" he responded with urgency.
"I know."
He just stared at you, trying to make sense of it all.
"I was going to tell you, after the tournament. I didn't want anything to affect-"
"Oh fuck the tournament, y/n, what is this really about?" he asked getting exasperated now.
Your lip quivered as you tried to compose yourself. How exactly does one break up with the love of their life?
"I think we should break up," you managed to choke out.
That nearly knocked the air out of Jungkook's lungs. His eyes were now brimming with hurt. He didn't move an inch. You sniffled, waiting for him to speak. But he couldn't move. He was looking at you like he was recalling every single moment, every single laugh, every single smile, every single bit of his life with you, just then.
"Jung-"
"Are you serious?"
"Yes," you said softly.
He stared at you for a few more seconds, inhaling sharply. He turned around and walked back out into the room, sitting on the edge of the bed with his phone pressed down onto the mattress. You followed, standing in front of him.
"I don't- why are you- where is this coming from?", he managed to choke out.
All you could do was stand in front of him and watch him fall apart.
"Jungkook, I really didn't want to do this today-"
"So you were thinking about it?" he cut you off. "All this time, you knew? You planned this?" he asked in disbelief.
You pressed your lips into a thin line, unable to speak. You were crying, unstoppable tears clouding your vision.
"Jungkook please, you know I love you-"
"You-" he choked, cutting you off. "If you love me then why are you doing this? I love you so much, I don't understand any of this," he pleaded.
You couldn't look at him. But now you knew you owed it to him to call it off. There was no point waiting any longer. It was time to rip the bandaid off.
"I don't want this anymore," you said plainly.
"What?" he responded, barely audible.
"I don't," you let out a sob, "I don't have feelings for you anymore."
"Bullshit," he snapped. He walked closer to you, trying to get you to look at him.
"That's not true and you know it," he said with a pained voice.
"Jungkook, I mean it!" you said frustrated now.
He looked taken aback, tears falling down his cheeks now.
"I don't love you, okay? I thought I did, but I don't. It was fun being here, and it was great sex but that's it. That's all it was." Cold. You said almost every hurtful thing there was. You had to push him farther. It was the only way.
"Why are you fucking lying to me?" he pressed, annoyed now.
"I'm not," you sobbed.
"Then why are you crying? You say you don't feel anything, that it meant nothing. So why do you look like this is killing you, y/n?"
Shit.
"Because I care about you and I don't want to hurt you," you said stubbornly.
"What the actual fuck?" he cried in disbelief. "You're really preaching about not wanting to hurt me right now? Are you for real?"
"I just don't want this anymore and there's no point in going on like this."
Jungkook sighed in defeat, running a hand through his hair and falling back onto the bed again. He couldn't believe what was happening right now. Something wasn't right. Could you really, after all this time, not love him anymore?
"y/n," he said exhaling as he tried to compose himself. "I really don't get where this is coming from, but if you just tell me then we can fix it, okay? We'll try-"
"Jungkook," you pleaded. "Please don't make this any harder."
He let out a soft sob that squeezed your heart painfully. He sat in silence for a minute, his mind racing and his breathing heavy as he tried to calm himself down. The sounds of your soft crying was the only thing filling the silence. You knew this wouldn't be easy. That he would be stubborn. Of course he would be. You knew how much he loved you, and Jungkook was never one to let go of anything that he loved so easily. Or anyone.
"Do you want to know when I knew?" he muttered, running a hand across his face.
Your eyes flickered up at him, his head hung low, elbows resting on his thighs as he leaned forward with his hands clasped.
"What?", you whispered.
"Every game. Each and every race. All the days we spent training. When I looked up, you were always there."
Your heart sank. He did notice you.
"I always thought to myself, she hates being here. We all knew swimming wasn't your favourite activity."
He sat up, leaning back slightly. "So I always asked myself why."
You cried softly as you waited for him to speak.
"You were looking out for me, weren't you? You were the only one who could see just how terrified I was."
That look you always wondered about. The little dips in his expression that told you his mind wasn't present. The pressure that nearly swallowed him whole. His practiced smile when they adorned him with cheers.
"That's when I knew."
You looked at him expectantly. "Knew what, Jungkook?"
He looked up, eyes finally meeting yours.
"That I loved you, of course," he whispered.
Your hands fisted tighter into themselves as you turned around, leaning against the wall.
He was making this so difficult.
"I understand if you don't feel the same way," he started, getting off the bed again and standing closer to you, your back towards him.
"I know the trip had a bit of a rocky start. But I thought we were okay," he said the last word in a pained voice.
You let out another cry at that. We were okay. More than okay.
"Fuck, y/n, we just had sex not even a half hour ago and you expect me to believe you don't feel anything for me? Or do you just not care?"
"God, Jungkook," you cried painfully, turning around while wiping your endless stream of tears away harshly.
"I'm sorry," you whispered. "I don't know what to tell you."
He looked at you in disbelief.
"This doesn't have anything to do with what other people think, does it?" he said firmly.
"No," you denied, "Of course not. We were past that."
Jungkook stared at you for a few minutes.
"Is it Jiyoung? Did she say something?"
"No, fuck no", you exclaimed, hearing him refer to her by her first name like that making your stomach twist into knots.
"I'm - okay just listen to me," you huffed, stepping closer to him, resisting the urge to just hold him in your hands and tell him that it'll all be okay.
"I care about you so much,"
I love you.
"And the last thing I want to do is hurt you."
I'm so fucking sorry.
"So I'm telling you now, because you deserve to know."
I don't deserve you.
"We can't be together anymore. I'm breaking up with you."
Don't let me go.
Jungkook's chest heaved, does eyes turned red from all the crying. He couldn't possibly understand your sudden decision, but it was yours and he couldn't force you to be together. He inhaled sharply and stepped back from you, nodding as he did so.
"Just like that, huh?" he mumbled, the dejected look on your face making your heart break ten times over.
"Thank you, for everything," you said, voice shaky.
He scoffed in disbelief, his eyes glued to the floor.
"If that's what you want," he said curtly, looking anywhere but at you. "I'll start moving out when I'm back, if that's okay."
You wanted to scream. This was the worst thing you've ever experienced.
"You don't have to," you let out a soft sob, "L-let's not worry about that right now, we'll talk about it once you're back. The place is yours as much as it is mine."
He shook his head, "I think it's for the best."
You nodded hesitantly. You didn't expect this to happen tonight.
"I'll take the couch," he sniffled before moving to rearrange his pillows into a makeshift bed.
"Jungkook," you called, tone heavy with guilt. "It's fine, we can-"
"No, please," he responded quickly, gesturing towards the bed like it was yours.
You immediately shut up after that. You had to respect his boundaries. You cried yourself to sleep that night. Silently. No matter what, Jungkook deserved the best. It would hurt now, but in a year, maybe two, he would be much better off. Your heart ached at the thought of him possibly finding someone else. He was your first love. You had always heard the name Jungkook reverberate in the school hallways, but at first, you were never able to put a face to the name. Then one day when you were with Taehyung at the cafeteria, you could hear boisterous laughter coming from a table full of teenage guys. That was the first time you ever saw him. You remember the young, boyish look he had at 17. Big smile, hair dyed brown, his swimmer's build. But on top of all that, god was he handsome. You understood then, why his name was so popular. You couldn't believe you've known him all these years. The first time Jungkook saw you, he just couldn't look away. He was briefly speaking to Taehyung after one of their classes. The hallways were busy. Mid-conversation, Taehyung had spotted you walking amongst the crowd of people. You were looking for him, not surprised if he was occupied catching up with a friend like the social butterfly he was. He called out your name, making you turn. Of course he had to be standing with Jeon Jungkook. You met Jungkook's eyes, while Taehyung's over-the-top waving melted into the corners of your vision. All you could look at was Jungkook. But he was looking at you too, heart thumping as you walked closer giving him a small smile before you turned to Taehyung saying something he never picked up on because he was too busy staring.
"Alright man, I'll catch you later," Taehyung said resting a hand on Jungkook's shoulder casually.
Jungkook was broken out of his trance at that, scrambling to respond coolly.
"I'll see you guys later," he replied, eyes lingering on you a little too long.
I guess you both were always in each other's periphery, it was just a shame you only came into contact when it would hurt Jungkook the most. When you woke up in the morning, there was no Jungkook. It was a shitty feeling, one you had to get used to. Checking the time, you sat up in bed. Your head was heavy, eyes swollen and god were you dehydrated. You rummaged through your bag for a paracetamol, swallowing it with an entire bottle of water. Looking over at the couch, you could see the duvet scattered and the pillows still held the outline of Jungkook's head. Your heart physically hurt again. When you stepped into the shower, your emotions spilled out of you. You cried for what seemed like an eternity, curled up on the cold, tiled floor. You missed him so much already. As soon as you got out of the shower, your phone rang. You jumped at it, heart sinking only slightly when you realised it wasn't Jungkook, it was Taehyung.
"Yo y/n, remember those pair of weird-ass Yoda socks Jungkook's got? Do you know where they are? Because I finally have the perfect occasion but he's not answering his damn phone," he grunted as you could hear him shuffling around his room.
You didn't even want to guess what kind of occasion it was.
"Um," you tried to hide the hoarseness in your voice. "Maybe check our place-"
You had to pause, realising it no longer was.
"You've got the key, right?"
You had given Taehyung and Dahyun a spare key to yours and Jungkook's apartment so that they could help water your plants while you were gone.
Taehyung paused for a minute and then spoke.
"Did you do it?" he asked cautiously.
Your bottom lip trembled as you tried to keep it in. He could clearly tell you had been crying.
"I-," you cried, sighing. You didn't want to say it out loud. It would make it too real.
"I did it. It's over."
You sobbed on the line, as Taehyung was at a loss for words.
"I'm so sorry, y/n," he said softly.
"It's not your fault," you sniffled. "God," you groaned, pressing a hand to your temple to ease the throbbing pain.
"Look, I'll pick you up from the airport okay? Will you send me your ticket? You'll feel better when you get home, I'll make sure of it. I promise," he reassured.
You nodded, sniffling.
"Thanks Tae."
"What did I tell you about thanks and sorry between best friends, hm? Just come home. We'll be here," he referred to himself and Dahyun.
You spent the afternoon just packing your things. There were no texts or calls from Jungkook. But his things were still littered around the hotel room, making it feel like everything was normal and he was coming back. You carefully packed his gift to you, careful not to let your tears fall onto the pictures as you cried your heart out again. You took one last look inside the room, recalling every sweet, passionate moment you shared with him. No matter what anyone says - it was all worth it.
___________________________________________________________
Three weeks had passed. But time did nothing to ease your hurt. You couldn't bear to be alone in your shared apartment, so Dahyun insisted you stay with her and Taehyung. Initially, you refused. You didn't want to be a nuisance and intrude on their personal space. You also didn't want to be that depressing killjoy of a friend who had just been through a bad breakup and was crashing at a friend's place. But the two of them insisted, and practically held you hostage. You were so grateful to them. They gave you your space, but also listened when you wanted to cry. Dahyun brought you out with her friend group when you were ready to socialise, allowing you to meet a whole other bunch of really nice people. Sometimes you wonder how Taehyung and her ended up together. Through Dahyun, you had met Jimin. He went to the same college as she did, the same one you were about to enroll in next semester. The two of you got along pretty well, and soon he was joining in on your plans with Taehyung and Dahyun. You tried to keep yourself busy, but it was hard. Taehyung dragged you out to try pickleball for the first time. You nearly kicked him for being so persistent because you really weren't feeling it that day. But he stole your phone from you and hid it, making you nearly crash out. So you had no choice but to play the sport. It was actually quite fun and helped get your mind off of things.
You had lost a lot of weight. You could tell people noticed, but they were nice enough not to say anything. You heard of news that your school had won the swim tournament, not that it came as a surprise. But you had no idea where Jungkook was. He hadn't reached out. Hadn't posted anything on social media. Truth be told, you were worried about him. He didn't have the same support system that you did. You could only hope that he was okay. You thought about reaching out several times. But the thought that you'd ruin everything for him again had stopped you. You left him for a reason. There was no way the two of you could be friends. You had even asked Taehyung to text him, just to ask if he was okay. To your loss, both him and Dahyun agreed that it was a bad idea. So you left it. But god, did it bother you. You missed everything about him. His sweet laugh. His eyes when they crinkled into a smile. His soft touch. His radiating warmth. His golden voice. His stupid jokes. His hot kisses. There was no one that could ever compare to him. Why did the stupid universe have to pull him away? On Tuesday, Jimin came over. He suggested you guys go out grocery shopping, mainly for selfish reasons because he hated doing things alone. Him and Taehyung were very much alike in that sense. And so the four of you drove to the supermarket in town. Taehyung pushed the trolley, now overflowing causing the wheels to creak for mercy.
"People are gonna think we're just a bunch of fat asses," Dahyun giggled.
"Not our fault these two have an appetite of an ogre," you gestured at the two men.
"Excuse you? I didn't say anything when you finished that entire tub of Ben and Jerry's last night," Taehyung countered.
You and Dahyun gasped, "Taehyung!" the two of you shouted, making him cower.
"Careful man, you don't say shit like that to a girl," Jimin chuckled.
"So she can call me fat and I just have to take it?!" Taehyung complained, pointing an accusatory finger at you like a child.
You laughed, walking ahead as you heard him complain to his girlfriend behind you.
"Whatcha looking for?" Jimin asked as he caught up to you.
You hummed, "I don't know, kinda want a savoury snack. Oh look they've got goldfish," you said excitedly moving towards the shelf.
"Goldfish?" Jimin asked sounding horrified.
"The biscuits?" you laughed, showing it to him.
"Oh," he laughed back. "I've never had 'em," he shrugged, smiling.
"You've never had a goldfish?" you asked him looking almost offended.
"No, is that a crime?" he teased.
"It is to me!"
He chuckled and grabbed one off of the shelf, "Okay, let's change that."
He ripped it open and dug his hand in.
"Jimin what the hell are you doing?!", you exclaimed panicked.
"It's alright, I'll pay for it when we leave. Doesn't look like we're anywhere near done shopping. Here, take some." He handed the bag out to you and you couldn't resist.
"If they call the cops, I'm turning you in," you said.
Jimin smiled amusedly, "Okay, make sure to tell my mom I was arrested for opening a pack of what looks like cat food in a grocery store."
The two of you laughed, giggles capturing the attention of someone nearby. As you munched on your goldfish, you saw something in the corner of your vision. When you turned to look, your heart nearly stopped.
Jungkook.
He was stood right at the entrance of the aisle. He was staring at the two you with an intense emotion behind his eyes. His tongue was poking the inside of his cheek, lip rings moving in the process. His hand gripped the trolley, and then his gaze shifted to you, softening slightly. You couldn't move. You looked like a deer in headlights just staring back at him. Your lips parted slightly to release a breath you'd been holding in. He looked so good. But there was no denying the tiredness behind his eyes.
"y/n?" Jimin called out, making you snap your head back towards him.
"S-sorry what?"
"I said should we go find Dahyun and Taehyung? They might actually be finished."
"Oh, yeah. Sure," you responded, quickly turning your head back to look at Jungkook, but he was gone.
You exhaled shakily, hesitantly moving your feet following behind Jimin. You needed to stay away. But god, you wanted to run to him and hold him so tight and never let go. In a daze, your friends helped you check out with Jimin thankfully paying for the goldfishes. He snagged an extra pack for you when you weren't looking. He gave them to you with a smile, and you refused saying he didn't need to. But he convinced you, saying he had already bought them knowing how much you loved them. The gesture made you smile, but at the back of your mind, you just couldn't let go of the thought of seeing Jungkook. As you walked out of the building, your eyes searched for him. Praying that he was around. That you'd see him again. But he wasn't anywhere. When you got home, you sneaked off into your room. Or should we say your guest room. You sat on the bed, pulling out your phone. Going into your texts, you clicked on Jungkook's name. His profile picture was blank. It made him feel so far away. Non-existent. Like you really erased him from your life. Your fingers hovered over the keyboard. You thought hard. Really hard. Was this a good idea? What were you even going to say? What if you just apologised? Apologise for not saying hello. Why didn't he? You wanted to ask if he hated you. You wouldn't blame him if he said yes. You wanted to congratulate him on his win. Wanted to ask him where he'd been. Is his stuff still at the apartment? Or has he left?
Completely...
You switched off your phone and chucked it to the side, tears welling up in your eyes and spilling over once you shut them tightly. You sobbed breathlessly. He was right there. But he wasn't yours anymore. You tried reassuring yourself, telling yourself he was happy. He had everything he had ever worked for. The man who made you get over your biggest fear. Your biggest weakness. Who made you feel like anything in the world was possible when you had him.
"y/n, we're gonna start cooking - oh shit," Taehyung cursed when he saw you. He wasted no time in closing the door and was by your side in seconds. He pulled you into a comforting embrace as you choked on your sobs, clutching the fabric of his shirt like your life depended on it.
"y/n," he sighed sympathetically. He had never seen you this broken in your life, he didn't know what to do. "What happened, girl?" he asked as he rubbed your arm comfortingly.
You sniffled and caught your breath, pulling back to wipe your tears and runny nose. Taehyung got up and fetched a box of tissues from the dresser and handed it to you. "Thanks," you mumbled, pulling one out swiftly. "I'm sorry, this is so fucking embarrassing," you choked.
"Hey, stop that. Not at all. I'm here for you always. Snot and all," he teased to lighten the mood, making you chuckle through the tears. You groaned softly, wiping the last of the tears from your face, crumpling the tissue in your fist.
"I saw him," you whispered.
"Where?" he asked shocked. "At the mart?"
"Yeah."
Taehyung processed the information silently.
"Did he say something to you?"
"No, he just," you sniffled. "I just saw him for a second, and then he was gone."
"Wait, what so did he see you?"
You nodded.
"He saw me, with Jimin."
"Oh," Taehyung said in realisation.
You shook your head, bringing the tissue up to blow your nose again.
"I fucked it up again," you cried.
"No you didn't," Taehyung countered.
"You were grocery shopping with your friends. Big deal. And even if you weren't, the two of you aren't together anymore."
"I know, but," you whined. "I've hurt him so much."
Taehyung sighed, patting your back softly.
"You didn't mean to. You were trying to do the right thing."
"Should I have just told him? From the start?" you said squeezing your eyes shut.
"y/n, you can't change the past. You did what you thought was right-"
"But what if I was wrong?" you cut him off, looking at him with teary eyes.
"What if I threw away the best thing that has ever happened to me?"
Taehyung gave you a helpless look. "I know it sucks to hear this, but sometimes we fuck up in life. We make bad decisions, and we suffer the consequences of them. Maybe you won't find another love like Jungkook, maybe you will. But that's life, y/n. You have to make your mistakes, because they're yours to make."
You took in his words as they sunk in heavily. That night, you excused yourself from dinner. You didn't really have the appetite. Your friends gave you your space. The sounds of Running Man played in the background with the bright light of your iPad hitting your face. Just moments before, you were scrolling on Instagram mindlessly, before a post from someone you follow from school popped up. It was a swim team picture. In Tokyo. Your eyes narrowed in on one person and one person only. He was standing there in a long-sleeved, black Nike top, black shorts. A strap on his right bicep with the big letters spelling 'Coach'. He had a smile on his face that didn't quite reach his eyes. His hand was on another swimmer's shoulder, looking straight at the camera. His hair falling into his eyes, and his free hand holding up a peace sign to the camera. You swiped through the post, trying to find more glimpses of him, but there was nothing. That only added to your hurt, which led to you putting on the funniest show you know, but it wasn't enough. Your mug of unfinished tea went cold from when Dahyun handed it to you a few hours ago. Your journal was splayed out next to you on the bed, messy handwriting and splotches of ink bleeding from where stray tears soaked into the page. Just then, there was a knock on your door making you lift your head from your pillow slightly.
"y/n?" Jimin's voice called from the other side of the door.
Fuck, you really didn't want him to see you like this.
"Can I come in?" he called.
"Um, I- yeah just give me a sec," you said before hopping out of bed and running to the sink to splash some water on your face. The person you saw in the mirror nearly made you jump. You hardly looked like yourself, your face shrunk and your eyes half closed no matter how much you tried to open them. Your hair was in an absolute state, but you managed to throw it up with a hair clip and hoped for the best. Opening the door, you could see Jimin's eyes trying to find you in your little cave of gloom.
"Oh crap, sorry," you laughed softly and turned the lights on.
Jimin chuckle and uttered a no problem before stepping in and handing you a tray. "You should eat something," he said, holding out a pair of chopsticks and a spoon. They had made Korean tofu stew for dinner it seemed like. It smelled heavenly, and the sight of the bright red soup and the pearly white rice tempted you.
"I'm really not hungry, but thank you so much for heating it all up again, you shouldn't have," you declined politely.
"You think I'm taking no for an answer? Just have a few bites at least, no need to finish," he coaxed.
You sighed, sending him a thankful smile before taking the tray from him and setting it down on your bedside table. You made a little bowl for yourself, adding some tofu, some stew and then some rice with kimchi. Jimin watched as you blew on your spoonful of food too cool it down before taking a bite. The warm sensation was so comforting, you let out a moan. "Honestly, thank you. I didn't realise how hungry I was," you admitted sheepishly.
Jimin smiled, "Yeah that's okay, we all knew you were just being stubborn."
You looked at him apologetically, "I'm sorry for being such a Debby Downer. I was doing alright, until-"
"Until Jungkook, yeah," Jimin finished knowingly.
You looked at him silently. Even just hearing his name slip from someone else's lips elicited something in you.
"I can't imagine what you're going through, and I don't want to pry. But from what the two have told me, I know you guys were close. It's hard to lose someone like that," he reasoned.
Close? You two were more than close. More like Jungkook was your lifeline. You nodded, mumbling a small 'yeah' before taking another bite of your food.
"It sucks that he lost his job though. I know all schools around knew his name by heart, including mine in high school. He was a great swimmer. Not really sure why they still let him go."
You choked. You erupted in a fit of coughs that made Jimin panic and run downstairs to get you water. When he came upstairs, Taehyung and Dahyun followed after him. You gulped down the liquid and tried to catch your breath, heaving. What the hell were they thinking? How could they do that to him? After all that, after what Ms Jiyoung said, after breaking his heart letting yours break over and over a million times just to save his career, they still fired him?
"What did you-," you gasped, still breathless. "He got fired?!" you yelled, startling Jimin.
"Y-yeah, he doesn't work there anymore," he said in defense.
"How do you know?" you asked pointedly.
"Someone I know, their younger brother's on the swim team. Said he was let go and had until the end of this month to wrap things up and leave. y/n, I'm sorry, I really didn't know this would upset you and I thought you knew about-"
"I didn't," you snapped, running a hand through your hair and letting out a hard cry.
"Okay, time out. There's too many people in here, Jimin come on, I'll give you a ride home," Taehyung announced, ushering Jimin out.
Your mind was going at a hundred miles per hour. You placed your hands against the wall to steady yourself.
"y/n, I know this is incredibly stressful for you right now but I need you to calm down before we can do anything about this," Dahyun said from behind you.
You were breathing heavily, trying to gain composure. "I just, this is all wrong," you cried. "He wasn't supposed to lose- I fixed it, I thought I fixed it," you sobbed.
Dahyun reached forward and pulled you into a hug. "I know, honey, I know," she replied sadly.
Your breathing slowed after a few minutes and you pulled away, frantically looking for your phone. "I need to call him," you said frustrated.
"y/n, don't!" Dahyun shouted as she stopped you.
"Why not?!" you yelled.
"Just stop and think," she said sharply. "If you call him right now, what are you even going to say? Do you think he'll even want to talk to you after all this?"
You stood there speechless. Dahyun was right. It wasn't Jungkook you needed to call. It was the woman who instigated this in the first place. "Give me your phone," you sniffled, holding your hand out to Dahyun.
"What?" she asked confused. "What for?"
"Dahyun, please I just need your phone."
"y/n, just tell me what you're thinking about-"
"I'm not going to call him! I just really need your phone, please," you begged.
Dahyun looked at you questionably, worried she would make the wrong decision. But she finally gave in, reaching into her pocket and unlocking her phone before handing it to you.
You took it from her quickly, "Thank you," you said in relief. Going into her contacts, you typed in the words Jiyoung. And her contact came up.
"Who are you calling?" Dahyun asked as you pressed the phone to your ear, holding her away with one hand.
"Dahyun, should you really be calling at this hour?" a voice spoke on the other end.
Ms Jiyoung taught Dahyun literature. Dahyun was a literary prodigy, and so she was no doubt Ms Jiyoung's favourite. She had her teacher's number in her phone from when she sent her countless rewrites of essays and mini short stories that Ms Jiyoung would submit to various writing competitions, helping Dahyun get her work out there and someday published. You remember hearing this from Dahyun, wondering how such a supportive teacher could also be plain disgusting when it came to your boyfriend.
Ex- boyfriend.
"It's y/n," you said with a sharp tone. "I need to have a word."
"y/n? Why on earth are you-"
"It's about Jungkook."
That made her go silent.
You huffed, prepared to speak again, but she spoke first.
"So you've heard?"
That cold, heartless viper.
"You told me he had a shot," you said voice pained. "How could you let me do that to him?"
"I didn't ask you to do anything-" she snapped angrily.
You scoffed in disbelief. "You told me to break up with him so he'd have a better shot!"
"It was merely a suggestion, and of all people, I didn't think you'd want to take advice from me. It's not my fault that you can't manage your own relationship."
You cringed from the hurt that that sentence caused you.
"How could you not say anything in his defense?!" you raised your voice.
"If you don't stop yelling, I'm going to end this call," she threatened, forcing you to calm down slightly.
She paused, waiting to see if you'd react before continuing to speak.
"Listen y/n, I don't know why you're calling me so close to midnight on a weekday screaming at me through the phone for no apparent reason when your boyfriend was the one who chose to quit his job."
What? Dahyun locked eyes with you, a shocked expression on her face.
"He...what?"
"Jungkook wasn't fired. He quit."
You nearly lost balance. He quit? Why on god's name would he do that? All this time, trying to save him, his job, his passion, he just...
quit?!
"Now if you'll excuse me," Ms Jiyoung said in an irritated tone before hanging up the call.
You sat there in silence again, neither you or Dahyun speaking. You tried to think of a million reasons as to why. Why would he throw it all away like that? You turned to look at Dahyun, her gaze meeting yours.
"I need to call him-"
"No."
You gave her an incredulous look, eyebrows raising.
"Go find him instead."
___________________________________________________
You barely slept the entire night. Your heart racing at the thought of potentially seeing Jungkook again. You had a hundred different scenarios playing out in your head. You thought of a million ways to say sorry. You were afraid of how he was going to react. Was he going to start yelling? Or worse, would he refuse to speak? You got into the car with Taehyung in the driver's seat. He made you a coffee in your little flask but you were so anxious you couldn't keep anything down. As he drove to the school, part of you prayed that he would be there, and a part of you prayed he wasn't. You were too scared to face him. According to Jimin's so called informant, it was Jungkook's last week at school. So he had to be around somewhere. Taehyung parked, and then turned to look at you with a concerned look on his face.
"Are you sure you're okay to do this by yourself?" he asked.
You nodded, smiling defeatedly. "Yes. I have to do this," you reassured.
Taehyung sighed, and pressed a button to unlock the car doors.
"Okay, off you go tiger. I'll be waiting here. Call me if he says something mean and you need me to punch him in the face."
You chuckled, "I think there will be no need for that. But thank you."
Walking into the building, it felt like almost forever since you had been in there. You had graduated months ago. Jungkook even came. It's where he met your family for the first time. Of course your mom fell in love with him. He was such a smooth talker. He bought you the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. He whispered praises in your ear the entire day, making sure you knew how proud he was of you. You had to keep telling him that it was just high school that you were graduating and thousands of people did it every year, but he wasn't having it. That night, he bought you the loveliest dinner at a really nice restaurant even though you insisted you would be happy with a cheap takeaway and movie. But of course, Jungkook had other plans. He had always treated you the best. Given you the best. Which was why it crushed you to think that he believed all those lies you had told him. Of course it wasn't just sex. Of course you still had feelings for him. God, if the man went down on one knee right now, you wouldn't even hesitate to say yes. You had hoped some part of him knew that you still loved him. That he could see through your lies and defenses you put up just to push him away. You walked through the familiar halls, your feet followed the memorised path to his office. When you reached the door that had the big, bold letters 'Jeon Jungkook' on the front, your heartbeat quickened. Raising your hand to knock on the door, you hesitated for a few seconds before giving three resounding knocks. You held your breath unconsciously, waiting for a response. Fully expecting his figure to appear in front of you in a matter of seconds. The words you had practiced in your head a thousand times over now completely leaving your brain. But then more seconds passed. And then a few more. The door stayed shut. You exhaled and placed your hand on the doorknob, twisting slightly to see if it would open.
And it did. The door cracked open, and you peeked inside. It was empty. His office had been wiped out, except for one lone box on his desk. You stepped inside, looking around at the glue-tack marks on the wall from where his fitness posters were hung up. His bookshelf from which you used to steal stuff to read from during your lunch breaks while Jungkook sat and worked at his desk - now empty too. There was a layer of dust on the floor, making your nose twitch. You wandered towards his desk, the cardboard box calling to you. Looking inside, there were a shit ton on medals, awards, trophies, framed certificates. You knew that this wasn't even half of what Jungkook had owned. Rummaging through the box, a picture frame caught your eye. Pulling it out, your eyes nearly teared up at the sight of it. It was your graduation photo. With Jungkook. He had kept it in his office all this time. The fact that he was never ashamed to show you off. His beautiful, smart girlfriend. The woman of his dreams. Just as you lifted your hand to wipe a tear from your eye, you felt a sneeze coming on. Sneezing away to your right, you heard a familiar voice.
"y/n?"
You turned around at the speed of light. Your heart clenched. He was standing there again, his eyes looking all over you as if he was taking you in for the first time. Your hands gripped the picture frame, your gaze locked on his. He was in his swim coach's uniform, running shoes, your school's oversized swim team jacket. The smell of chlorine mixed with his shampoo filled the room. You inhaled deeply, and exhaled with his name leaving your lips.
"Jungkook."
He studied you cautiously, slowly stepping into his office and closing the door. He was careful not to come too close, moving only to set his gym bag down to the side, and then crossed his arms while looking at you. Even in this stressful situation, he was undeniably hot.
"What are you doing here?" he asked calmly.
You swallowed, throat feeling dry. You slowly set down the frame back into his box, his eyes noticing the picture in your hands causing a small blush to creep onto his face.
"I needed to talk to you," you said softly, turning back to face him.
He stared at you, making you feel slightly intimidated.
"Sorry for barging in. I knocked, but no one answered."
"That's fine. You know you're welcome here anytime."
That made your heart flutter. "R-right, but still," you stuttered. "How have you..." you began unsure. "How have you been?"
Jungkook stayed silent, unable to answer the question. Maybe it was a bad one to start with. You winced at his reaction.
"Sorry, I didn't mean-"
"It's alright," he reassured.
The tension in the air grew.
"How about you?" he asked.
You took a deep breath, exhaling with a fake chuckle.
"Honestly? Not so good."
You saw a look of concern flash across Jungkook's face. But he didn't pry.
"Me neither."
His sentence caught you off guard, your heart starting to ache. Taking a step closer to him, you dared to ask the question.
"How's work?"
He pressed his lips into a thin line and then nodded casually.
"Good, yeah."
Liar. You raised your eyebrow at that.
"Right. Congrats on winning the tournament. They must have definitely given you a pay rise."
"Nothing like that," he shook his head, relaxed expression on his face.
You stared at him for a few more seconds, thinking about how to get him to admit it.
"Why is your office empty, Jungkook?"
He froze, slowly realising his mistake. You could see his brain trying to come up with any possible excuse.
"They're moving me into a different office."
"Oh that's great, where?"
"On the first floor," he lied.
"There aren't any empty offices on the first floor," you said inquisitively.
"Well they must have made some room," he said with annoyance in his tone now, doing that really attractive thing where he'd poke his tongue into his cheek.
"Where? In the janitor's closet?" you fake laughed.
"Why are you here, y/n?" he snapped.
You were slightly taken aback, but recovered quickly.
"I know you quit."
Jungkook's eyes widened slightly.
"What? Aren't you going to say anything?" you asked in disbelief.
"This is what you came here to talk to me about?" he asked irritated now, pushing himself off of the wall and walking around you to get to his desk.
"Well, yes, among other things. Why did you do it?" you pressed, your tone filled with annoyance.
"No offence, y/n, but I don't think I owe you an explanation," he said pretending to be be busy putting away the stuff on his desk.
Damn right he owed you an explanation.
"This isn't like you. You can't just quit because you're upset with me, Jungkook. I know this breakup's been hard but that's no reason to quit what you love."
Jungkook remained silent, ignoring your claims.
"Do you know how many people talk about you? That when I mention your name, everyone's eyes light up knowing that you're the Jungkook that fills our entire damn city with pride?"
Jungkook's pace and aggression quickened, refusing to look at you. He was stacking a pile of papers together, a task that didn't really need doing. But he needed a distraction. His breathing got heavier and you only prodded further.
"Jungkook, why aren't you listening to me? You need to stop this right now and go get your job back, because I don't know if you remember, but you love to swim. You're a swimmer, god dammit-"
"That's enough," he said loudly, slamming the papers down on the desk.
You flinched backwards. You had never heard him yell like that. Jungkook was gripping the edges of his desk, his head hung low. He looked up suddenly, catching you off guard.
"I didn't quit because we broke up," he said looking at you like you were crazy for even suggesting it. "Believe it or not, not everything is about you," he said, his words cutting like knives.
Your breath hitched.
"Jungkook," you coaxed, "I didn't mean it like that-"
"Why do you think I haven't swam in years?"
You stared at him, unable to answer.
"I could have gone pro. I could have joined a state team. I could have competed. But I chose to stay on the sidelines and coach. Why do you think that is?"
"I-I don't know, I thought maybe you just wanted a break-"
He paused before saying, "It's because I fucking hate it, y/n."
His breath was shaky as he admitted it to himself out loud for the first time. Jungkook sighed and ran his tattooed hand through his hair, taking a deep breath.
"I just can't fucking take it anymore."
You studied him, trying to make sense of his words. He looked up, heart cracking seeing the slight fear in your eyes still lingering from moments ago.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell," he swallowed, eyes pleading.
You shook your head, letting him know you were fine. You were more worried about him.
"What happened?" you asked full of concern.
He stared at you for a few moments, and then sighed.
"Oh I don't know, maybe the intense, gut-wrenching pressure that comes with it all? The fact that I can't ever lose, not even once. How everyone expects everything from me all the time," he said with a heavy tone.
Your heart ached again. You were right all along. Those imperceptible moments where his face would change. The fake smiles on the podium. You knew Jungkook loved to swim. Or at least, he did. But somewhere along the line, it became too much and you couldn't blame him for it.
"Why didn't you tell me about any of this?" you asked in a non-accusatory tone, just genuine curiosity.
"I was too afraid," he said scoffing at himself, looking away.
"Of what exactly?" you called softly.
His eyes darted around, embarrassed to answer.
"That you wouldn't,", he paused, swallowing. "That you wouldn't want to be with me anymore...but I guess that didn't matter."
You winced at that.
"Jungkook, how could you possibly think that?"
"You're really going to ask me that question?" he asked, eyebrow raised.
You swallowed, nodding.
"I'm really sorry you had to go through all that by yourself."
He didn't answer, just kept silent.
"I'm sorry I made you feel like you couldn't tell me. Like I'd ever leave you for something so stupid like that. Jungkook, I don't care if you swim or not, I just want you to be happy," you said, tears escaping your eyes.
He looked at you intensely, fingers toying with the silver ring on his finger.
"That wasn't your fault," he protested. "It was my own insecurity."
"No, it was. I was so focused on what other people thought, I didn't even realise you were hurting like this. I really am sorry, I hope you'll forgive me," you said shakily.
His eyes met yours again, softer this time.
"I could never stay mad at you either way, y/n."
You swallowed thickly. He was being so incredibly sweet, despite all you had done to him.
"Well, you should be," you whispered. "I fucked it all up."
"You didn't."
"Yes, I did," you insisted. "I pressured you into doing something you hated and then I broke up with you. Who the fuck does that?" you scoffed to yourself in disbelief.
"You didn't pressure me into doing anything," he chewed on his bottom lip for a second before speaking. "I know you loved me," he said, making your heart stop again.
"And honestly, that was enough for me."
Your tears were streaming down your face now, but there wasn't a sound from you. You took a step closer to him. And then another. And another. Until you were standing right in front of him, only the desk keeping some distance between the two of you.
"You really believe I don't have feelings for you anymore?" you asked.
Jungkook shifted on his feet. "Isn't that what you said?" he replied coldly, but you could see how much those words hurt him.
"You really think I was faking all that? That it was just sex?"
"You tell me, y/n," he pressed, jaw clenching.
"Do you really not know me at all?", you said in disbelief.
Jungkook scoffed in surprise, "I don't know y/n, you seem like you're doing pretty well in terms of company. So yeah, forgive me for thinking you've moved on."
"What?" you asked, confused.
Jungkook looked away, fingers drumming on the desk. When you realised who he was referring to, you narrowed your eyes at him.
"So just because you saw me with a guy, you immediately assume we're together?" you asked slightly offended.
"Is that not a fair assumption considering you didn't want our relationship anymore?" he retorted.
"Jungkook, I didn't-" you had to take a deep breath, "Jimin is friends with Dahyun. I just met him like weeks ago."
"Well good for you, y/n," he said in a clipped tone as he moved around the desk to pick up his bag from the entrance where he had dropped it earlier.
"I didn't just love you," you called out. "I loved you then and I still love you now," you insisted, tears spilling over again.
Jungkook's eyes hardened, his shoulders filled with tension. He slung his bag over his shoulder and turned towards the door.
"Jungkook," you pleaded, voice cracking.
"I can't do this, y/n," he said firmly. He picked up his bag and slung it over his shoulder and then turned towards the door.
"Wait! You can't just leave," you said with disbelief on your face.
"Yeah," he fake chuckled, "That's what I thought too," he muttered before walking out of the office.
You stood there motionless, unable to believe that he would just walk away like that. No. You weren't having it. You've come this far. There was nothing standing in between you and the love of your life right now. And you weren't going to let that go to waste. You stormed out of his office and chased after him. When you got to his side, you forcefully grabbed his arm making him jerk slightly as you dragged him into the nearest room next to you. Of course it was the pool.
"y/n," he said shocked, but didn't resist.
The smell of chlorine nearly made you gag. Funny how you didn't mind it on Jungkook.
"Oh god," you groaned sniffling and you swore you saw his lips curve up for a second.
You got over it quickly enough, and turned back to the man in front of you. "Jungkook, you are not leaving."
"y/n, what the hell are you-"
"You could have easily shrugged me off because we both know how strong you are but you let me drag you in here so clearly you're not ready to leave yet. So do me one last favour and just listen to me for a minute. Please?" you begged.
He complied, staying silent, making you huff out a 'thank you'. You took a deep breath, thinking about where to start.
"When I first saw you, I knew from that moment that it was going to be impossible to forget you," you said.
Jungkook's eyes flickered as listened intently, head craned downwards to look at you while his hands were shoved into his pockets.
"When I first embarrassed the fuck out of myself in front of you at this very pool, I thought, you'd probably never be interested in such a klutz. But I was wrong. Because you were always there. You always showed up for me. Especially when I was scared to my wits end. You didn't just help me conquer a fear, but you quite literally changed my life. Everything that you do, everything that you are, I learn so much from you every second I spend with you. You've been there at every milestone of my life. You've always put me first. Even when I was selfish. Even when I was in the wrong. I always knew you were too good to be true from the moment I met you but, you've still proven that to me time and time again."
Jungkook's doe eyes were turning glossy, his nose twitching ever so slightly. He looked at you like he was taking in every word, letting each one sink in.
"I really fucked up this time," you said voice breaking. "I know I did, and for that I'll forever be sorry. I'm so sorry. I just need you to know I only did it because I love you, so much. I thought that you were going to lose your job. I thought that you were going to have everything you've ever worked for taken away from you, because of me."
Jungkook's expression changed instantly. "Because of you? What are you talking about-"
"I knew about the board. I knew they were considering letting you go. At first I thought it was just a rumour. I heard people speaking about it in the airport toilets, but I didn't believe it. But then I spoke to Ms Jiyoung-"
"You spoke to her?" he asked shocked.
"Yes, believe it or not," you sniffled rolling your eyes at the thought of her. "She told me you only had a month left. And I couldn't handle that Jungkook, how was I supposed to just be okay with that?"
Jungkook was speechless.
"I thought maybe, that I could do something. That I could convince them myself. That maybe they'll listen. So I didn't tell you. But that day when we first walked out of that cafe without Bam, for some reason something just clicked. Maybe it was because I hated seeing you so sad. I realised I was being incredibly selfish and that you deserved everything that you've ever wanted. So I thought that if I- if I broke up with you then they wouldn't have a case against you. That it would fix everything. But I was so wrapped up in that, I was too blind to even see how much you were struggling with everything on your own and now I just feel so fucking stupid because I ruined the best fucking thing that's ever happened to me," you rambled, trying not to let your tears get in the way.
Jungkook's eyes stayed fixed on you, processing each and every word. His gaze softened, lips parting and then closing again.
"You-you broke up with me to save my job?" he asked in disbelief.
You sniffled, looking at him. "Yeah...T-that was before- I didn't know that you-"
"You were carrying all that weight, and I didn't even know?" he asked almost as a question to himself.
"I just wanted to make the most of every second I had left with you. I'm sorry I lied, but I knew if I told you, you wouldn't have let me leave."
"Of course I wouldn't have let you leave," he said with a pained voice. "You didn't have to do all that for me," he said almost scolding you.
"I would have done anything," you retorted, rendering him speechless.
He took a step closer to you, making it difficult for you to breathe. Slowly, he lifted a hand to cup your face hesitantly. You leaned into his touch, closing your eyes.
"I really thought you didn't want me anymore," he swallowed, the hurt from all those days poured into his words.
"Are you insane?" you said letting out a soft sob.
"It really hurt," he whispered in a pained voice.
"It was the hardest thing I've ever done," you replied, tone filled with guilt.
Jungkook's thumb wiped a stray tear from your cheek as he took a deep breath. He leaned closer, forehead touching yours now.
"Can I kiss you now?" he asked, in the softest sweetest tone that you missed so much.
You only nodded, unable to say anything further. The world felt like it was spinning when he crashed his lips onto yours, hands moving to your waist to pull you as close as possible. You threw your arms around his neck, fisting the back of his jacket. Jungkook's hands moved to your waist, pulling you flush into his chest leaving no space between the two of you.
"I've missed you so much," he whispered between hot kisses, sending a cold shiver down your spine.
You only kissed him back harder at that, making him groan. Pulling away breathless, Jungkook rested his forehead against yours again, noses brushing.
"You say I changed your life, but y/n it's you that moved mine," he said brushing this thumb over your lower lip.
You laughed softly, still sniffling through the tears, "I don't think I did anything like that."
Jungkook raised his eyebrow playfully, "Really? What if I told you I can't sleep with the air-conditioning turned off anymore because you need it at full blast? Or how I can't have chocolate milk without a pinch of salt now? Or how I've gotten hooked on your entire essential oil collection and have to have the diffuser running 24/7?"
"Jungkook, those just sound like I introduced you to some massive inconveniences," you laughed.
He chuckled back, "Yeah maybe, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I know you always want what's best for me, or you would have never done any of this. Thank you for not giving up on me, ever since day one. It just feels so incredibly empty when you're not around now. I don't think I could ever be without you."
You sighed, brushing his bangs away from his eyes making a small smile grow on his face.
"I'm sorry I hurt you," you said sincerely.
"No, I'm sorry I didn't tell you the truth sooner," he insisted.
He leaned forward, capturing your lips in a kiss again. It got more heated this time, his one hand moving to your ass, tongue slipping into your mouth as you moaned softly. A buzzing noise from your pocket brought you back to reality for a minute. Jungkook pulled away, a small string of saliva following that made your core throb a little. This was definitely to be continued.
"Hello?", you answered slightly breathless, cheeks flushed while Jungkook's hands held on to you, thumb rubbing circles into your side while he watched you with a small smirk from how red you were.
"Hey you guys had make-up sex already or what? This is taking forever," Taehyung complained.
You pinched the bridge of your nose and let out a heavy sigh.
"What is it with you and always thinking about sex?" you shot back.
"Is that a yes?"
"No!"
"I think you should tell him yes," Jungkook teased, hand finding your ass again, squeezing lightly as he winked at you.
You blushed, swatting his hand away. "God, men are such sex-deprived freaks," you huffed.
"You are not wrong, actually studies have shown that-" Taehyung rambled.
"Oh for the love of god, Taehyung, everything's okay. Thanks for waiting," you said, grateful that he actually stayed all this time just for you.
"Okay great, you can tell me the entire story later. Tell Jungkook if he doesn't text me back by the end of today, I'm stealing his karaoke machine."
"I heard that!" Jungkook exclaimed in worry.
"Good, because I have the keys to your house. Okay bye!"
Taehyung hung up, making you laugh while Jungkook stood there in disbelief.
"He does actually have the key to our apartment," you said realising.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, smiling, "He wouldn't dare. And also, about the apartment-"
"Actually, that's something I wanted to talk to you about..."
_______________________________________________
Jungkook could not stop fidgeting. The two of you were in the car, with you taking over the wheel today. You were buzzing with excitement, while Jungkook sat next to you pouting.
"Why can't you just tell me?" he whined.
"For the hundredth time, because it's a surprise. Do I have to explain how they work?" you huffed.
It had been about five months since you moved into a new apartment with Jungkook. One that was bigger and felt more like a home built by the two of you. It only seemed right as things were getting serious, and the two of you had no issues committing to a place. You had also started college, and so moving closer to campus was probably something you needed to do anyway, just that now you could also have Jungkook there. While at college, you also managed to find part-time work that gave you enough to spend on meals and contribute towards the rent. Jungkook's first day at work was in two weeks. He was going to be a swim coach at a primary school. Surprising, I know. But after having time to reflect, and speaking loads to you about it, Jungkook knew he wasn't getting back into the water anytime soon. He also realised that his previous job was a bit too overwhelming, from the yearly state competitions to daily swim trainings, it had made him lose the joy he had once gotten from the sport. And so he thought of the next best thing. Teaching kids to swim. You aw-ed and cooed at him when he first told you about it, making him blush in embarrassment. But in all seriousness, you made sure he knew how proud you were of him, especially because he was teaching these kids a major survival skill, and possibly reducing the chances of any of them developing a deep-rooted water phobia because you said and I quote: 'I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy.' He only laughed in agreement, promising to do this best and use you as an example. You also gave Jungkook a huge lecture about how to avoid more middle-aged teachers coming onto him, giving him strict instructions to turn around and walk away.
"Do not make eye contact, do not promise any favours," you warned.
Jungkook gave you a lopsided smile, "You're hot when you're jealous."
"Are you even listening to me?!"
You knew he would be absolutely great at it, and that the kids would love him. With the last two free weeks that Jungkook had, you wanted to make the most of this time. There wasn't a night that went by that the two of you didn't go for it. You'd be back from the library really late some nights, sometimes even skipping dinner. Jungkook would scold you at first, but then bring you in and force you to sit as he cooked you a meal. As you ate, you could see his leg bouncing in anticipation. He would unconsciously chew on his fingernails, tongue poking his lip rings as he watched you eat. As soon as you were done, he would do the dishes in record time, not allowing you to help. You would protest, saying that he cooked so you should clean, but he would just tut and use his butt to bump you away from the kitchen sink.
"You just sit there and look pretty while I take care of you, sweetheart."
That would send you over the edge, soon finding yourself clawing at his back while he thrusted into you so hard you thought the bed was going to give in. Apart from the intimate moments, you also spent time at his parent's. Meeting them for the first time made you spiral out of anxiety, but Jungkook held your hand and reassured you constantly. You don't know why you were so worried, because they warmed up to you immediately, making Jungkook's heart melt. Now it was months later and you were in the car with him, his playlist on while you hummed along.
"How much longer?" he asked, placing his hand on your thigh and caressing it.
"Just be patient, we're almost there," you chuckled at his sense of urgency.
"Are we going to the zoo?" he quipped.
"Mm, something like that..." you thought.
He raised an eyebrow, "Really? So there's animals involved?"
"I'm not gonna say anything! You won't get it out of me," you huffed.
"Pretty sure I got it out of you multiple times last night. Oh and twice this morning," he smirked.
You blushed, swatting his hand away from your thigh, making him chuckle.
"Okay we're here," you said, pulling up at a random house.
Jungkook looked around confused, "There's a zoo here?"
"There's no zoo, babe, oh my god," you laughed, getting out of the car as Jungkook followed.
Walking up to the gate, you rang the doorbell and stepped back, waiting patiently. Jungkook's cute expression nearly made you giggle. He placed an arm around your waist, pulling you to his side and he studied his surroundings.
"y/n, where the hell are we? I'm starting to freak out-"
Woof!
Jungkook's head snapped towards the gate. In a matter of seconds, a large, brown figure came running out at full speed. Jungkook let go of you, quickly stepping in front of you to try and break the impact so you wouldn't get hurt. But when he realised what was in his arms, tears pricked at his eyes.
"Bam?!"
The dog responded with a resounding woof, making you and Jungkook laugh. He crouched down to Bam's level, giving him loving scratches and pets and singing praises his way. You already had your phone out, secretly recording from the beginning to get Jungkook's reaction.
"How did you get here? Oh my," Jungkook laughed as he wiped the happy tears from his eyes, turning to look at you.
You smiled fondly, putting your phone away. "Just a little something called a flight for dogs, no biggie," you said casually.
"y/n," he called in disbelief, chuckling slightly.
A lady stepped out of the house then, big smile on her face.
"Hi, so nice to meet you in person," she said reaching her hand out to you and you shook it.
"You as well! Thank you so much for this, we really appreciate it," you said kindly.
Jungkook stood up to greet the lady as Bam sat quietly by his side.
"Were you surprised?" she asked Jungkook with a small laugh.
"Oh definitely," he agreed laughing back, and then turning to look at you.
The woman laughed as she excused herself to bring out Bam's paperwork and a bunch of other stuff like toys, treats and his supplements.
"I still don't get how...?" Jungkook asked.
You smiled and circled your hand around his arm. "I just made a few calls. The pet cafe was happy to send him over. And Yun See here fostered him for a few weeks while our apartment was still getting ready and also to acclimatise Bam to a new environment, look after him if he fell sick, stuff like that."
Jungkook's eyes softened, and then he leaned down to press a firm, loving kiss on your lips in gratitude.
"I love you so much, you know that? But you really didn't have to do this, it must have cost a fortune-" he whispered.
"It's okay, we were bound to get a dog anyway. So I thought why not just do it now. Plus, it made me sad thinking of him all alone there. Isn't that right?" you cooed as you leaned down to stroke Bam's fur and he happily obliged, giving you kisses.
Jungkook laughed, playfully pulling Bam away, holding his face in his hands.
"Hey, that's my girl, don't get it confused," he warned playfully but Bam seemed undisturbed by it, making you giggle.
You drove back home, letting Jungkook and Bam spend some quality time in the backseat. It warmed your heart to see Jungkook over the moon like that. You've never been more relieved that things were all going so smoothly. His giggles from the backseat made your heart flutter, and the smile on your face remained throughout the ride home. When you parked, Jungkook brought Bam out and handed the leash to you before going back into the car and picking up all of Bam's stuff and balancing them in his arms. You did offer to help, but of course he didn't let you.
"Jungkook, I know you're very strong but I have a free hand."
He smirked slightly as he shutting the car door and locking it, enjoying the compliment.
"Don't worry about it, baby," he said leaning in to steal a quick kiss before walking towards the elevator and leaving you blushing.
Bam absolutely loved the apartment. He took his time exploring, sniffing every surface. You gave him an entire apartment tour while Jungkook watched amusedly.
"So this is the bedroom, it's where daddy and I sleep and here's where you'll sleep," you said cutely ushering him to his little dog bed.
There was a slight increase in Jungkook's heartbeat when you practically called him 'daddy', but he decided not to tease you about it because it looked like you were having so much fun. Bam crawled into his bed, hesitantly at first, before doing a loop and curling up into the soft material. You aw-ed at that, feeling Jungkook's arms wrap around your waist from behind with the rumble of his chest from the chuckle he let out travelling to yours. You spun around, still in his arms as you looked up at him. He was smiling down at you gently, does eyes sparkling in adoration. He leaned down, hand moving to hold your face as he craned your neck up further for him to kiss you. It was slow and soft, making your head spin. He pulled away for a second, hooded eyes staring at you.
"Thank you so much. For all of this. Not just for Bam, but for loving me in the way that you do," he mumbled softly against your lips.
You blinked at him, unable to answer. Your fingers dipped into his hair gently. "Thank you for forgiving me," you mumbled back.
He sighed, other hand caressing the skin of your waist under your shirt. "How could I not?"
You leaned in again, kissing him desperately. Jungkook's hands hooked under your thighs making you jump and cling onto his body as he reversed you into the bed. Falling back with a soft thud of the sheets, he wasted no time in crawling over you and started to unbutton your jeans. You whined, hands reaching into his shirt to pull it off of him.
"Patience, y/n," he chuckled as he swiftly pulled your jeans off making you gasp.
He finally took his shirt off, and you wasted no time in letting your hands roam across his chest. Jungkook leaned across you to grab a condom from the drawer, and then leaned back to open it. You helped him out of his sweats and boxers, his penis already hard and waiting for you. Jungkook placed the condom on and then reached out to pull your panties to the side, the cold air making your body jerk. He rubbed his dick against your entrance, making you squirm and beg for him. He leaned down to take your lips in his, sucking hard as he pushed his hips forward and thrust into you. You let out a loud moan, hands latching onto his back. He grunted into your mouth, tattooed hand on your breast playing with your nipple as the other one rest beside your head.
"Fuck, you feel so good baby. Feels better every time," he rasped.
You let out a short breath, looking down to see where the two of you connected. You let your head fall back into the bed, allowing Jungkook to dip his head in and leave marks across your neck. His pace quickened, hips moving in and out making you cry out in pleasure.
"Shit, y/n, I can't- I don't think I'm gonna last," he heaved breathlessly, head buried into your neck. You clenched around him, making him let out a guttural groan.
"I want you to come in me right now, Jungkook," you whispered, hand tangling into his hair.
He growled, pulling back to look at you. "Anything for you, princess."
His breathing became erratic while your moans got louder. Jungkook reached his breaking point, crying out your name followed by a string of curses as he came. He pulled out of you, and reached his hands down towards your core. You grabbed his wrist, shaking your head.
"It's okay," you whispered.
Jungkook moved his face closer to you, brushing stray hairs from your face. "I want to make you feel good," he said in the hottest possible voice known to man.
You smiled, caressing his face. "You always do. I'm okay, I just want to lie down with you," you patted the space next to you.
Jungkook hesitated for a minute before giving in and hopping off the bed to get some tissues. He cleaned you up while you watched him shyly, trying to interject.
"It's okay, I can do it," you said reaching a hand out.
"I know you can, but I want to do it for you," he said stubbornly as he finished up.
You blushed, mumbling a small thank you and Jungkook threw you a wink as he walked into the toilet to chuck the tissues into the bin. When he remerged, you had to force yourself to look away from his bare body because he looked like he was sculpted by god himself. He noticed this, and immediately jumped next to you on the bed, smothering you with a hug and making you laugh.
"We're totally naked right now," you said, caught up in his tight embrace with your bare skin pressed against each other.
"Mhm, we are. Feels nice," he teased, kissing your neck as you let out another laugh.
After a moment of silence with your head resting against Jungkook's chest, silently listening to his breathing, your head perked up.
"Jungkook?"
"Hmm?" he responded, hand lazily splayed across your bare stomach.
".....Where's Bam?"
"Oh, fuck."

And that brings us to the end! Oh my days, I don't even know how many words this is. It's probably the longest fic I've ever written here on Tumblr. The most NSFW one as well, jeez. I'm really trying to get used to it, so apologies if it felt rushed and lacked detail but I'll leave some parts up to your imagination! Sorry for the long paragraphs as well, Tumblr wouldn't let me post more than a 1000 blocks which is annoying. I hope it was still a good read! Thank you to all those that have followed this series from the beginning. Crazy how it's been two whole years since part one, are you kidding me?! I was just so attached to these characters, but I think the time has come for me to let them go. I hope you'll receive them well for me. If you could like, reblog or even leave a comment whether you loved it or hated it, I'd really love to hear any feedback. Now, onto new ideas!
