Just across the street from our office....
With the release of "42" tomorrow I have taken pause to reflect on some of the history of the neighborhood that I am proud to have become a part of with my work.
One of my tenants at 242 Bradhurst Ave between West 154th and 155th sent me this aerial photo of this area, Harlem Morningside and more clearly defined as Sugar Hill.
The second photo is of 242 Bradhurst Ave within that aerial.
One might think that the bright yellow awning is for a food establishment. In fact, that was the set for the 2009 PBS children's series
"The Electric Company".
The series was a rejuvenation of a 1970's show of the same name that featured actors such as Morgan Freeman, Rita Moreno, Bill Cosby and Gene Wilder.
" The Electric Company " engaged the local residents and children within their production often utilizing the natural backdrops of Jackie Robinson Park directly across the street. You can watch a video here and here.
Adjacent to Jackie Robinson Park is the NYCHA development, The Polo Grounds carrying the same name as the sporting events venue that was home to many New York sports teams.
The last aerial is of roughly the same area with The Polo Grounds in its earlier form.
Follows is a link to a NY Times feature of Jackie Robinson, a Brooklyn Dodger, running the bases at The Polo Grounds in 1956.

2. Comparables are the key to the right price, not your opinion
3. You’ll get out what you put in, so consider renovations
4. Incentives can help speed up the process
5. Serious buyers never stop the hunt
6. Asking prices are up nationally, but…

Some of my favorites:
1) The Marrow - If you've been to Perilla and/or Kin Shop in the West Village, you know about the quality food and ambiance this team delivers.
2) Carbone - Torrisi and Parm have helped re-define the concept of Italian for lunch and dinner...Carbone will bring old-school Italian back to popularity.
6) El Toro Blanco - Modern Mexican in a cool space from the guys behind Lure Fishbar and Burger & Barrel...what's not to like?
10) Salumeria Rosi - A proven go-to small plates spot on the Upper West Side is now expanding over to the east side with the soon-to-open Upper East Side outpost.
