âYeah. Did I ever thank you for that? For everything? I was a mess, and you kept me together. You were always there for me. I really lucked out having you as my friend.â She truly didnât know how he put up with her. She wouldnât have stood for it. She reached out for his hands to tug him over. âYouâre a real gem, Levi,â Genevieve said, reaching up to press a kiss to his cheek.
âWe could make a documentary. It would just be cuts between you doing normal everyday things and them freaking out.â She could joke about it, but she actually didnât like it in the least. It annoyed her that she couldnât go out with him without being bothered. She already had a reputation for not being the friendliest, and having to deal with his fans only furthered that negative image of her. She didnât care if they liked her. âMy motherâs birthday is next month. Iâm going back for a few days. Think you could swing the vacation time?â
âI donât need any thanks, Evie. Iâm always going to be here whether you like it or not,â he grinned, flushing slightly at the kiss she had pressed to his cheek. It seemed to leave a burning sensation on the skin as she moved away. Every time her fingers ever brushed against his skin or sheâd hug him, the place where she had touched him seemed to linger, waiting for her to meet them again. âYouâre the gem, Gen,â he teased, winking at her playfully.
âA documentary? Do you think thatâd pay well?â he joked back, knowing itâd be a nightmare to go through with something like that. Levi loved the support his fans gave, and of course heâd let himself fall into a drunken hookup or two with a few of them in the past, but whenever he was out and about somewhere with Genevieve, he didnât want them to be bothered. Besides, he could tell she wasnât entirely a fan of being stopped every outing they had. âNext month? Hmm...â Levi thought. Heâd have to check with the captain and coach when training season would start up again before he could confirm anything, but for her heâd make the effort, âIâll figure something out. I promise.â
