Carpet Install!
My son and I have been camped out in the small bedrooms since move-in. Looking forward to some plushy new carpety goodness later today!
The last two weeks have melded into one big blur. Between business travel, client events, team meetings, phone calls and walk-throughs with contractors - I can't believe I ever thought June would drag by. Yet here I am, with two days left at the haunted townhouse, reflecting over all that's happened in the last 3 months and still hardly believing Cheshire House is waiting for me to call it home! I'm excited, exhausted, grateful and ready to move on.
Laminate.
The new side porch.
Lots of activity this week!
Cirque de Chaotique
There are about 14 men at Cheshire house right now. 4 of them are working, the rest are waiting for materials, and I'm in everyone's way!
Never...
...travel for business on the day your major remodel projects start.
Lazy Days and Chaos
Last weekend kicked off with my first 5k race. After finishing in 28:55, I found myself unmotivated to work on the house... and then my social calendar exploded. I managed to empty the dehumidifier and test the AC (seems to work!) in between running from one end of town to another. Lazy Cheshire House days don't necessarily equate to actual lazy days, apparently. Monday ushered complete chaos into my personal life, but on a positive note the house now has cable & Internet! It almost had a keyless deadbolt too but it didn't function as well as I'd hoped. The idea was to give the code out to all my contractors so they could access the house... had to buy a combination keybox instead. Much cheaper than the keyless deadbolt, and much easier to install. Bruce and the electrician are walking through tonight and the vinyl installers are starting tomorrow! Maybe I'll be able to set up appliance delivery this weekend. (I typed that with a wry smile).
Here We Go
Contract work starts today! My plumbing contractor's name is Bruce and he promises to make me a "Happy Homeowner". He's installing a new hot water heater, a water softener, and hopefully he'll figure out why turning on the outdoor spigots makes the water meter spin out of control! Not sure who my cable tech is; today's just a walk-thru so he can see what's needed to run wires through the walls rather than the brand new floors. And speaking of new floors - that project starts next week!
***Update***
Bruce decided he was too busy to come out today, after all... but he'll definitely be out next week. It begins...
It wasn't even an option - had to be done.
DIY. That's how I roll.
Wire Transfer
The first wire transfer is in, which means Lowe's can start the rehab work next week!
Painting!
17 gallons of Pecanwood
My new fav product. Helped me remove all the packing tape an orange winterization stickers from various surfaces around the house - like magic!
The people who used to live in Cheshire house did not believe in picture hangers. They believed in screws.
Officially a homeowner!
