ofcdae:
“and you always do this.” was what he said in an even colder tone than the words that previously left his lips. “you keep saying i think so little of you, but here you are - acting as if i couldn’t give two shits about you because it’s you thinking so little of me.” his words were definitely audible over the music now, the harshness in them turning into hurt as they continued to ring out with barely a breath in between. “how do you expect me to fight for you when you say shit like that, alexis? do you really think you’re giving me anything to fight for because you’re not. what makes you think i wanna fight with or for someone who thinks i care so little for them? if you’re just gonna have that mindset, i’m gonna let you and i’m gonna leave.” taking a step closer to her, his eyes stared down into her’s with his jaw clenching every moment that it wasn’t moving to speak. “it breaks my fucking heart when you say shit like that. it leaves me hurt for days knowing you think i couldn’t give a damn about you, do you understand that? how torn up i feel whenever you cross my mind because i know that any time i cross yours, you’re only thinking of how i don’t love you or how horrible i seem in your mind.”
her soft words should’ve been something to calm him down, but it was almost impossible at this point. dae felt as if he was defeated. not by what she said, but by what she managed to think and say about him. it left him wondering what it was he did to put lexi into that sort of mindset. he knew he left and shouldn’t have done it the way he did, but the boy was sure that wasn’t enough to cause this - if it was, it wouldn’t be something he’d actually understand. how was it that he could tell how much he meant to lexi, but she couldn’t see it the other way around? those two weeks ago at that party, his hands were all over her as if they’d never left her in the past few years, his lips caught onto hers as if she was still his, like nothing had ever even happened between them. the embrace he had her caught in felt like he was holding onto her as if he never wanted to see her walk away from him. and maybe it was only dae’s imagination, but he thought that maybe she could feel how bad he still actually had it for her.
“you really think that’s gonna make me stay? i feel like you ant me to walk away, so that’s what i do. i just- i can’t read you, alexis. you have to tell me what you want, not throw shit like that at me and expect me to fall to my knees for you. you know that’s not how i operate, i need you to say things to me.” the anger in his voice started to settle and be replaced with a desperation for anything other than this. his feet took a few mote steps towards her as she wanted him to, a hand lifting her chin upward so that she was longer looking at the ground, but at him. “maybe it’d be best if we didn’t say anything for the time being. obviously we aren’t ready. i have to make sure you know how much i care for you and you have to change your mind about me and until we can learn to do that by working with instead of against each other, maybe we should just… avoid that for now.” dae wanted to tell her, a hand reaching up to gently land on the curve of her jaw, his eyes trying to tell her the words he was refusing to say. “can we be okay, please? can we just forget this part of the night happened and can we just work on things slowly and can i just kiss you?”
She hated when he turned the words around on her. How did their conversations always end up like this? Both constantly placed a barrier in front of themselves, waiting forever for the other to budge first, to say the words that they needed to in order to sort out everything. Why did their prides always get in the way? There was no point in trying to deny what Dae accused her - of her being the one to think so little of him - because their arguments would always only end with her crying out, no YOU. Their endless tennis game of back and forth blame was riding heavily on her heart. But the futility of it all never stopped her from trying. “If you gave me anything to hold onto, if you’d just tell me your feelings, maybe I wouldn’t think you care so little about me!” Her chest hurt when he told her how much he was upset by her words and her thoughts. “It’s not like I want to believe it Dae. You don’t understand what I’ve faced since you left. You don’t understand how scary it is to believe that someone actually loves you, because I know, I know for certain that the other shoe will always fall.” The hopeless romantic in Lexi had shattered into pathetic pieces since her affair. As someone who had believed in soulmates, believed in true love. It had all been stolen from her by her own naivete and stupidity. It was easier for her to believe that Dae wanted her at the moment because their history made it simpler and not that he retained any feelings for her. The safer bet didn’t seem as intimidating. But even as she lied to herself, Dae’s words always got under her skin, telling her that she needed to tell him what she wanted. The girl was straightening her back, bristling at his reply. “I do say things to you, but you don’t listen. I told you to just tell me the truth.” Letting out an irritated scoff, the brunette could only stare back intensely at the man as his hands cradled her chin, and then her jaw. With their gazes locked on each other, Lexi could feel the fight inside of her gradually dissipating, her arched back crumpling. It was unfair when he looked at her like that, his soul bared in his eyes as if all he wanted in the world was her - only her- because she could never say no. She positively melted in his brown hues. With a sigh, her head merely turned side to side. “Just...forget it. White flag.” Can we be okay? Could they ever be okay again? It was up in the air, but their heated exchange had drained the girl. At the end of the night, all she wanted was for the man to hold her and assure her that everything was going to be okay. If he wanted them to ignore their problems, at least temporarily, the girl would gladly do so. Wordlessly, her hand reached to cup his against her cheek, grasping it in place to relish the warmth, her eyes closing as she tried to control the range of emotions inside her. A few moments passed before her lashes were fluttering open. “Okay.” She finally said quietly, before taking a step forward against Dae’s chest and wrapping her arms around his neck to pull him down against her lips, automatically parting her own. Moments into the kiss, the girl’s head was already reeling, the urge of wanting the man so badly almost making her fall over her heels as her legs turned weak.

“i know they do. but you keep them from slipping out as if i on’t already know.” he admitted, quick to start up again to defend himself, “i’m not trying to come off as cocky or full of myself. but, c’mon.” his head cocked to the side. his body leaning forward as to slump in a sense of defeat. she wasn’t going to say them and dae sort of knew this, but she wanted to. she almost let them slip out, so obviously she wanted to say it, right? dae would do his best to keep them from leaving his lips, but if it come down to it, he wouldn’t stop himself from saying them the moment they started. he couldn’t. he would hope she’d call him out just as he was doing with her now. the only difference was if she had done such a thing, he wouldn’t hesitate to finish the statement. he wouldn’t try to change the subject and he wouldn’t do his best to play it off. dae had nothing to lose by telling lexi he loved her, but considering the situation the two are in - would it even be smart to do so?
the dark hues that examined the floor momentarily shot back up to meet hers. instead of the soft look that they once held, they seemed much colder. her words had flipped a switch in dae, one that caused him to straighten his back as he spoke, eyes still darting into her and his words held a sort of offense. “don’t do that.” he simply told her, head moving from side to a side a few times as he spoke, “don’t, don’t try and tell me how i feel about you. you know that’s far from true. i don’t know how you can even sit there and try to say i don’t love you.” he shot back with, “you’re putting that into your own head, i never once said that, alexis, and you know i didn’t.” dae didn’t think he’d get so defensive when it came to such a statement, but he couldn’t help how frustrated he got the moment he heard the words.
before dae knew it, lexi was going in on him. and now, he had nothing to say in return. he kept himself quiet, eyes just staring over at her as his jaw clenched shut. if he wanted to, if he really wanted to, he could easily dish it back to her and make this into something bigger than it already was. but that’s not what dae wanted. if he would’ve known that this would’ve come out of what he did back at the bar, the boy would’ve kept himself at the booth with his friends before quietly slipping away to leave and head home. this was not what he wanted with lexi and it’s not what he was going to do. instead of fighting back like something in him was urging him to do, he just stood to his feet towards the end of her words.
“okay.” he simply stated, a shrug of his shoulders rolling off nonchalantly before his body turned to face hers. “you can keep filling your own head with these accusations of me. i’m not gonna keep trying to change your mind. i left, i know, i get it. i can understand why you think so low of me. but i never said any of the things you’re choosing to believe, alexis. and i’m not gonna waste my time trying to change your mind about them because i know you won’t even believe me.” his words were soft, but loud enough to still be heard over the faint music in the background. “but know that really fucking hurts. that you think i’ve tossed you to the side like i never cared. you make it seem like i cheated on your or treated you like shit or just had no respect for you whatsoever. and you know that was never the case.” as much as dae wished he could avoid defending himself and just walk away to leave her with whatever she wanted to think - he couldn’t stand to see his character dragged through the mud in a sense. “i’m gonna go now. they’re probably wondering where i am and i think i’d much rather be there then try and convince you of how wrong about me you are. so…” the boy gave her one last look before his body turned, ready o walk away from her before she could even get another word in.
I refuse to say it first. The unspoken words hung between them as Lexi shrunk back from his evidently angry response, the coldness in his voice making her quake uncomfortably, already regretting taking the hard stance. She should know by now that when she reacted with pain and coldness she would always be met with the same icy wall that she knew so well. Her heart felt torn, divided between believing the man when he seemed so offended that she accused him of not loving her and getting angry at him because actions speak louder than words. His actions years ago made her hesitant to believe the man. “So do you? Do you love me?” She shot back. When Dae stood up, the girl was tempted to throw her hands up in vexation. He never tried to convince her otherwise when all she wanted were the words to leave his lips to reassure her. Before she knew it the girl was standing up after him to grab his hand, her grip steel-fast. In a swift motion, she was yanking him so he was forced to face her general direction. “You always do that.” She exclaimed, frustration boiling over in her voice. She hated that he didn’t answer her questions, hated that he glossed over the hard parts of the conversation. Screw the fact that they had promised to try to communicate better that day in the bar when they had first bumped back into each other. “If i’m so wrong, tell me how wrong I am. Convince me. For god’s sake Dae, can you fight for us for once in your life instead of always walking away?!” I’m tired of always looking at your back.”
He was right that he had only ever treated her well up until the point that they broke up. It was why to this day she still loved him, which made it infinitely worse when he had left her. “I know Dae.” Her voice softening, even amidst her indignation, pushing stray hair that had fallen into her face as she leaned forward towards the man, “I know how good you were to me, but you always leave me when I really need you to stay,” As she spoke, the stray hairs fell against her face again and in an exasperated huff, she tried to blow them off her face. As she gave up in controlling her straight hair, she could only tug the man towards her with her eyes cast down. “So just...just stay, for once.” She said weakly. And tell me the truth. Tell me you love me. A hope that she didn’t think he’d ever satisfy. “Just...just tell me what you mean.”
ofcdae:
“i don’t think i’d have much trouble getting a girl in my arms. but thank you, anyway.” dae scoffed out, eyes playfully rolling away from the girl the instant the words came out. maybe it were true, - him having no trouble finding someone to fill his time - but it wasn’t anywhere near dae’s actual intentions. he wasn’t there for a hook up. hell, he didn’t wanna be there in the first place. but if he tried and actually set out to find a body to hold, he was sure it wouldn’t take much. but the again, maybe the small bit of alcohol in his system was causing the boy to feel cockier than usual. “but i don’t wanna be here. it’s a friend’s birthday, you know how i am when it comes to saying no to something like that. so i said i’d come and here i am, hating every second of it.” his words has a bit of annoyance traced between them - the boy wanting desperately to be at home, maybe working on something or face timing his sister, instead. and maybe sometime soon, hopefully, he’d be at home in bed and ready to fall asleep. but even dae felt as if he could laugh at himself for even thinking he wouldn’t be lying awake, staring at the ceiling and thinking about this run in with lexi.
the boy nodded, eyes lowering to the ground and he answered her question. “they’re fine. i spoke to both of them earlier, they were fine.” he reassured, knowing that even though the two were no longer together, his sisters still held a special place in lexi’s heart an vice versa. “everyone is fine to my knowledge. they may be lying, but i wouldn’t know. i’m not there to actually tell what;s true or not, but so far so good, i suppose.” he was sure the pain in his voice was evident, him knowing that his mother was in trouble with his step dad once again and that he didn’t know what else to do about it. but he pushed the feelings aside. he’d deal with it later because as of right now, there was nothing he could actually do.
dae’s eyes instantly snapped upward to meet hers, the tone in her voice causing a chill to spread it’s way down his spine. the boy began to wonder why she could be so mad at him, frustrated even, when they were just friends. right? they had discussed it previously and that conversation was short lived. that must’ve meant that she wanted nothing but his friendship and over the course of the past two weeks, dae had forced himself to accept it. but maybe he read into it horribly wrong. the way the two were all over each other at the party was enough to distract them from any previous conversations, so maybe it just wasn’t the time to talk about where they were headed unless it was home after that party. either way, it was something dae decided to push to the back of his mind before it could cloud it and keep himself from thinking of anything else.
“i don’t think little of you, alexis.” he finally admitted when he was able to. “and thank you for the reminder, but i really didn’t need it. i’m not trying to make something out of this, i was just saying. i had stuff to do, i was busy. i had a lot of work to worry about and i didn’t wanna break my concentration by reaching out to you about it and potentially just get shut down. that would’ve been a waste of my time when i could’ve spent it on what needed to be done. so i avoided it.” a soft shrug rolled off of his shoulders before he could look away from her, wanting desperately to just walk away instead of continuing the conversation. “i don’t know, i’m sorry, though. i wasn’t trying to avoid you for the reasons you may think. i just…” he words trailed, dark hues giving the girl his full attention again. “i wish you weren’t so afraid to tell me you love me still. like you were just about to do before you caught yourself.” he told her with a soft smile. “i hate when you do that, i hate it so much, just fucking say it.”
“Oh, I’m well aware how popular you are with females. And males.” The actress successfully kept her voice even, although the words in her head had been phrased as more of a jab. When Dae walked away that day, Lexi wondered just how long it had taken for the man to replace her. She’d been too afraid to find out, refusing to even peek at any of his social media. Since they had broken up, his history was a total blank. A mystery that she was afraid to ask about. All that she knew at the moment was that he was single. “I’m sure it took little time for you to date someone after me.” Her curiosity getting the better of her, Lexi couldn’t look the man in the eye, choosing to survey the club blindly. Turning her attention back to Dae as he spoke about his family, a sigh of relief escaped her, His sisters were managing. Were hopefully doing well, but there was something about the man’s voice, the unsteadiness in it that hinted to the girl that there was more to the story. He had answered the question about his sisters, but Lexi was almost too afraid to ask about his mother who she knew to take the brunt of the issue. But it wasn’t the time and place to prod further. The urge to comfort the man, to hug him, to hold him and run her fingers through his hair as she would whisper supportive words into his ear grew. It was what she used to do and the girl didn’t know how to act in a way other than romantic with Dae. Every instinct in her body, every fibre was screaming to embrace the man and tell him that his family would be okay, that they would make it okay. But she held back, her fingers biting into her skin as they curled into a fist. Instead she untangled one of her arms against her chest to reach up to where his hand lay against the booth, and she squeezed it momentarily before retracting it back just as quickly. She hated it to the core of her soul how awkward the two were with each other. Would they ever learn how to interact with each other normally again? Her heart sunk at the sight of the beautiful smile on Dae’s face. God, she wanted him to hug her. She reminded herself once again that she needed to accept the reality that they had broken up. “You should know me well enough by now that those three words mean everything to me...” Dae knew how the girl had grown up alone and lacking familial love, how much she valued love and building her own family for the future, and how she wanted to say it only when she truly meant it. But the precursor to that was how important it was that she was saying it to someone that loved her dearly. Not to mention, the girl barely trusted her own judgement at this point. She was too afraid to say the words now, frightened to give her heart hope again. Her lips in set in a tight line, she could only let her gaze fall down, unable to meet Dae’s eyes. Scared to see his expression, but confused as to what he really wanted from her, her mind was almost numb from how overwhelmed she felt. Why did he care if she loved him or not? He’d made it clear that day long ago that he didn’t love her enough to stay. Knowing the man, he wasn’t cruel. Far from it, so he wasn’t asking for her honesty to rub it in her face or to laugh. So then why did he want her to lay her feelings out? Letting slip her confusion, her bottom lip wobbled before she cleared her throat and managed out, “Why would I when I know you don’t love me, Dae?”
The actress continued intensely, “I’m not a masochist. I don’t like to set myself up for failure, as self-destructive of a person I am. I’m not so stupid to...well, that’s not true.” Thinking of her affair, she corrected herself bitterly. “I’ve been stupid before and I’m done with men breaking my heart. I hate it when they do that. I hate it so much.” Echoing the man’s last words, Lexi shook her locks, “why does it even matter to you whether or not I tell you? I’m the ex you broke up with, so please illuminate to me why on earth you even fucking care whatever my feelings are?” And now her eyes were lifting to stare at the man intently, a cocktail of anger and avid curiousity reflected in her hues, resembling someone trying to solve a puzzle that refused to reveal its secrets.
ofcdae:
dae was rather pleased that the girl played along as he did his best to pull her away from the man seemingly harassing her with nonsense and false accusations of money and the finer things in life. it was likely they were nothing but lies pouring from behind his lips, but what would dae know? all he knew was that lexi was in the same room, he wanted to be around her, and he had to get rid of the dude for it to happen. thankfully the room around them was mostly dark or else the soft blush spreading across dae’s cheeks would easily be very much visible. “how sweet, thank you kind sir.” the boy offered to the other man with a nod of his head, wondering if he can tell how sarcastic dae’s words were over the loud music surrounding them. “i appreciate you offering your company to my girlfriend, really, a gentlemanly thing to do.” he continued to speak over the music, tone still laced with as much sarcasm as before.
his lips turned upward into a sly smile before he chuckled out at her farewell, head dropping as his eyes took to the ground - the boy doing his best to hide the amusement on his face. before he knew it, though, lexi was puling him way from the man at the bar, the two finding themselves in quieter setting than before. less flashing lights and people allowed for the boy to really get a better look at the girl’s features - the ones he hadn’t seen in about two or three weeks by now. “sweetheart.” he offered in response to her hello, a cocky smirk evident across his lips. “not really, no. but i was just over there,” the boy explained, head nudging in the direction of the booth his friends still crowded. “and saw you looking as if you could use the help so i offered my services and i’m still waiting for a thank you.” would he actually get one, probably not.
her next words caused his amusement to dial down, features falling into something softer as a sense of guilt grew in the pit of his stomach. she didn’t understand where he was coming from even if he explained it,but would she believe a simple sorry - one he genuinely meant? his hand still held onto hers, knowing she was only still as close as she was so that they could continue fooling the man that still might be watching. “i didn’t host you, alexis.” his eyes peered up to meet hers, ready to see the disbelief in her eyes and ready to start defending himself. “i got busy. really busy. and family stuff was happening, i could only spread my attention into so many layers at once and i’m sorry.” his words were genuine, even if his voice did seem quite loud for an apology - but the music was still loud and he was still unsure if there was a quieter place around them. “i still- you still- hold on.” he told her, struggling to speak louder than the music before he grew frustrated with trying. his fingers laced with hers began to pull her in a direction towards a private seating area. one they had no business being in, but since it was dead and unused, dae figured fuck it.
“i remember why i hate these places so much. how does anyone hear a damn thing?” he chuckled out nervously, now knowing she would b able to here the things he said and he’d be able to see her reactions to his words more clearly. “i wasn’t trying to ghost you. trust me. that night - even if it meant nothing to you - replays in my head constantly. but-” dae kept his eyes on her, shoulder eventually letting a shrug roll off before he continued. “i figured it didn’t matter whether or not i replied to you or reached out in any way. i’m sure you’re not up at night thinking about that night or what happened or me, even.” his body settled down into one of the padded spaces of the available booth, arms stretched out over the top of it. “i wasn’t trying to ghost you. i wouldn’t have bothered with you tonight if that were the case.”
It almost made the girl feel ashamed how good it felt to hear him call her sweetheart again, even when he only used it ironically when they used to fight. She hated how in the brief moment that he had come to save her, it felt eerily like they were together again. How she missed being able to call Dae sweet pet names, or casually wrap her arms around him without overthinking it. Her perfect brows raised doubtfully. “You came out clubbing? I’m shocked, but then again, you’re terrible at saying no, baby.” As soon as her last word exited her lips, she knew she had erred. So caught up in their exchange previously, she’d let slip into their old habits. Internally swearing at herself alongside the knowledge that Dae was awaiting her gratefulness, Lexi could only nibble on her lip ever so slightly. Indeed she was thrown off by her own careless actions, but all she would be able to do is pretend like she hadn’t even noticed and hope the blaring music swallowed her mistake. Deep inside, she knew that she should thank him, but her own bitterness and pettiness prevented the words from slipping out as easily as it would have had her saviour been anyone else - literally anyone else. Instead, she decided to simply maneuvre her way out with charm as she usually did. “More like you should be thanking me. You got to have a hot girl in your arms and you even got a kiss out of it too. Take that as my thank you then.” She loudly told him, hoping that because she was so close in proximity, that he heard most of her words. It took little for her to catch the change in Dae’s expression. That the two knew each other so well that they always saw each other’s little nuances. The girl crept on her toes to try to catch what the man was saying, and managed to catch the words, family stuff was happening and sorry sticking out for her. Although not the most satisfying answer, it was an explanation that Lexi didn’t feel she could doubt . Especially with his family situation that she knew well enough. Before she could ask further, he was pulling her away into a space that was more private. As he sat down on the plush seats of the booth, he had let go of her hand. For a brief second, the girl glanced at her now empty hand, wishing he still held on. But soon enough, she herself sat down, crossing her arms over the fabric of her black dress and then her long legs over one another. Close enough that her dark hair grazed Dae’s extended arms as she leaned back, but far enough that there was still space between the pair. Lexi wished she had a drink right now, both to ease the uncomfortable feeling blossoming inside her and give her liquid courage. Now that they were in a private space, she began to realize that they would be having the conversation that she had desperately wanted the day after. The problem was that now she wasn’t as mentally ready as when it had freshly happened. “Are your sisters okay?” The actress managed, not wanting to forget. No matter how frustrated she was with Dae, she loved his sisters like her own, especially with how they (generally) had accepted her with open arms when they realized just how head over heels Lexi had been for him. At the end of the day, she knew she was only beating around the bush and refusing to address the elephant in the room. Hearing Dae act as if she didn’t care was infuriating, heat quickly shooting up her body and up her face. How dare he think it meant nothing to her? If anything, she would be accusing him of the exact same thing, and she heard herself snapping angrily, “You don’t know anything about how I feel, Dae. So don’t you dare assume that I thought it was nothing. You have no idea how much i lo- ” Cutting herself off with a hissed breath, Lexi cast a glare at the man, refusing to let the man ever hear those words in her head. Instead, she responded directly to his words. “And what if I did think of you. What if I was thinking of you every - single - day since the party? Does that change anything? Does that ever explain what the hell we’re doing?” Hearing him accuse her of caring so little made her so angry with herself for having done the exact opposite. “God, I don’t even know why I bother when you think so little of me. You’re the one who walked away Dae, not me, so don’t make me the bad guy here.” The girl’s arms tightened around herself as if struggling to physically keep the pieces of her heart from falling apart; wanting so desperately to keep her composure.

why he’d agree to leave his house on a friday was beyond him. dae knew that anywhere he could possibly dragged to would be overflowing with bodies, people trying to get as drunk as they can in order to have a good time. he should’ve said no to this night out, but it’s as if his friends would always remind him of how he could never actually say no to them. and they weren’t wrong. the boy was always up for a good time and usually when he was ready for one there seemed to be nothing going on. the one night he wanted to stay in, however, was the night some friends wanted to celebrate a birthday - it was almost impossible to say no. as always.
dae knew better than to rain on anyone’s parade, though, knowing he wouldn’t allow himself to settling into the corner of the booth they all shared with a bored look on his face. even though he wasn’t completely in it, the male did his best in making sure he at least appeared to be having a good time. raising a glass to the others as they took a shot - his first one of the night - and taking it down quickly before laughing and joking with the faces around him. maybe it wasn’t as bad as he thought it’d be. the boy was sure that at this point in, he’d be ready to come up with some excuse to head home - a fake emergency or acting as if he were suddenly sick. but instead, he was having a genuinely good time.
the moment some of the people around him left their table to go dance was when dae’s eyes lazily took in the room around him. there was tons of unfamiliar pretty faces to catch his attention - the boy even offering a few smiles at some that seemed to catch his eye. it was until he looked over at the bar that something struck him as familiar. it seemed like the room lit up the moment his eyes laid on lexi’s familiar features. dae almost didn’t, couldn’t, believe she was standing in the same room as he was. the last time it happened, the two had their back and forth that landed them all over each other in a corner of a room. a room consisting of coworkers and crew members that all witnessed just how bad the two had it for each other as their lips locked continuously over the course of an hour.
the guy next to her suddenly caught the boy’s attention - dark hues narrowing in to see if he could recognize the unfamiliar male and make him out to be someone he could label as just her friend. she wasn’t with him, was she? by the look across her features, it was safe to say she was trying to get away from him rather than spend any more time next to him. dae hesitated, wondering if she’d rather spend time with the stranger that was trying to be all over her or if she’d rather have him swoop in and steal her away from him. it was something he was starting to overthink, his bottom lip caught between his teeth and he debated whether or not to step in or not. but without sitting on it for too much longer, he went for it.
the closer he stepped to the two, the more he could hear the other male go on about something pretentious. something dae knew lexi probably cared nothing about. it caused a soft chuckle to slip past his lips, one inaudible to anyone around him since the music was so loud. “hey, you.” he told lexi, giving the girl a smile as he approached her with an arm snaking it’s way around her waist, lips leaving the softest peck upon her cheek. “i’m sorry, there was a line by the bathroom and people are annoyingly inconsiderate.” he said with a roll of his eyes, his sight eventually landing on the boy on the other side of lexi. he offered a soft smile as his eyes looked the other up and down - his posture straightening as he gently pulled the girl closer to him. “who’s this, a friend?”
The girl was exhausted. To the bone. It was their busiest week of filming so far, trying to film a longer season finale in the same time that they usually did for one episode. Not to mention when she wasn’t filming or cramming her script, her mind raced from the scene that replayed over and over of the work party. Up there on the patio bar of the hotel, she and Dae huddled in a corner as if they were the only people in the universe. It was just them, their lips, their craving to be with each other. Bumping into Dae after so many years, at work at that, had stirred the girl’s nostalgia and memories. A heavy weight had settled in her chest from the moment she set eyes on his handsome face again. After their lips had met, his hands running against her body, she finally recognized what the weight was. Lexi missed him. She fucking missed him and the feeling that she hadn’t been enough for him returned with a vengeance, tearing her apart inside all over again. Who knew that her ‘closure’ that she had forced upon herself after he left had been so temporary, so flimsy, that simply his entrance into her life was enough force to topple any and all composure. So exhausted from having to process her feelings all over again over her ex, she found herself drinking more than she did - which was already a lot and often. Every night after work, it became a dangerous habit. Finding herself at a club as soon as the director yelled, that’s a wrap, Lexi wouldn’t have minded drinking herself to a daze and then dancing the night away. A fellow castmember had joined her briefly, but had been called away by their significant other. Lexi only wished she could be so lucky. Instead, as soon as her colleague left their seat at the bar, a man slid smoothly into the seat. Dressed well, sophisticated, but the brunette knew from the moment he started with the classic, so what’s a beautiful woman like you drinking alone for? line, she knew his only intention was to get into her pants. Now normally, she would have jumped at it because the girl loved to lose herself in the game. But with Dae on her mind, she’d rather not waste her time. Lexi had just enough of the male species at the moment, thank you very much. Politely replying, the actress gave into the conversation. Calmly replied that yes, she was Alexis Blythe - yes the actress. Thanked him graciously for him being a die hard fan, which she highly doubted. Soon he was trying to impress her by talking to her about finances? Something about stakeholders? Or was he talking about assets? No, now it was about his sports car? Lexi was a simple girl, Sleek, colourful, and fast was all she needed from a car. Brands meant little or nothing to her, even growing up in an old money family. Her father’s love of luxury cars often bored her. And then amongst the range of topics that she cared naught for, suddenly there was a saving grace. A saving grace who she never imagined appearing before her eyes. Especially after he had ignored her casual text the morning after their...ventures that night. Just as his arm held her waist tightly, Lexi knew that he was swooping in to save her from the situation. The two of them were always so in tune with each other that there was no doubt in her mind that he sensed just how far away she wanted to get from the man in front of her. Not to mention how familiar the feeling was, almost as if they really were together like how Dae was portraying them to be. Falsely, of course. Lexi immediately flipped a switch, tenderness and wonderment filling her doe eyes, the epitome of a girl in love and seeing her prince charming. Leaning into Dae, her glossed lips pushed out slightly into a pout as her hand made its way to rest lightly on his chest and the other cradled his cheek. “I missed you so much. I was getting worried about what was taking so long babe.” Was there maybe a bit of truth in her lie? It always made the act that much more convincing. Glancing back as if a side thought to the other man, her lips spread into a polite smile. “This lovely man was just keeping me company until you came back honey, that’s all.” Without even blinking an eye, her hands now tightly in Dae’s, and Lexi was keen to exit the situation. For good measure, Lexi stood on her tiptoes to give Dae a gentle kiss that lingered on his cheek, before giving a little wave to the other man. “Very nice to meet you sir. Good luck on your...assets.” Unable to keep her sarcasm from slipping out, she tugged Dae away until they were out of earshot and eye sight of the man at the bar. Still worried that the man may be watching, Lexi stopped but kept her hand in his. “Hi darling,” Slowly, she moved so her lips were close to the man’s ear, enabling the man to hear her over the bass. Finally lifting her dark orbs to meet his, she tilted her head. “So...do you save every damsel in distress that you see like this?” No longer in character, the gooey warm tone gone was quickly replaced with a tepid dryness. “Fancy seeing you here after you’ve ghosted me over text. I thought you had your fun and left all over again, Dae.”
