even cursory knowledge of one punch man makes ONE's disdain for these sorts of establishments and their internal politics so apparent. like the hero association, the sun union is supposed to be helping people, but its members are too busy sucking up to jodo, arguing amongst themselves, or arguing with reigen to actually get things done. i see the rock-paper-scissors scene as a stand-in for ridiculous bureaucracy. intentional or not, the sun union then seemingly being comprised entirely of men starts to make a little bit of sense — this is a caricature of the sorts of power structures that are dominated by men in real life. coming back to reigen, her position as an outsider to the establishment is spelled out clearly and enforced viciously. she was second-guessed from the moment she set foot in the asagiri mansion, and that doesn't seem altogether unfair until the spinoff: she is a fake psychic, no two ways abt it, but roshuuto is a fake, too! the difference is roshuuto is one of them and so they like him just fine. jodo may still hate reigen for being a fraud, but that is not remotely his primary motivation; the issue is both much pettier and much more systemic than that. reigen's status as a freelancer and refusal to play the game, buy into the clique mentality and bow to authority is what grinds everyone's gears, jodo's most of all bc he has been granted the most privilege under this system and thus has the most to lose. reigen has already escaped a (more than likely) suffocating professional environment and won't roll over in this one just to appease people who want her to see herself as less-than anyway, but she threatens the hierarchy just by being out there, doing her job, especially after she handled the asagiri case better than the any of the registered psychics, so jodo will do everything he can to tear her down. he humiliates her on national television, destroying her reputation and opening her up to unrelenting harassment, with the allegations getting much more serious as rumors circulate. the tv network discarded her for a quick boost in ratings, just as she said, but jodo couldn't permit the non-conformity she represents. connecting all of this together... well, i'm sure you already know what i'm thinking
