When you see pictures of the Chernobyl disaster and it’s aftermath, one notable aspect present in all of them is the ventilation stack that served both the destroyed reactor 4 and the adjacent reactor 3, which actually kept the stack operational until 2000.
But what most of them fail to convey is just how massive that structure really is!
75.5 meters (247.7 feet) in height, and 9 meters (29.5 feet) in diameter, made up of 7 sections weighing a total of 330 metric tonnes, a true beast in it’s own right.
Having survived both the explosion of the reactor, the liquidation - the clean up - of the reactor 4, and finally, the construction of the Sarcophagus, the structure built by liquidators and biorobots to contain the destroyed reactor, it was finally dismantled in 2013 to allow the installation of the New Safe Confinement, the replacement of the Sarcophagus, intended to last at least 100 years.
The stack you see being a smaller replacement.

@homotologist @bettykthe21stcenturypinup I found y'all some pokemon.
Couple things about these
One: they look amazing and that bloom is top notch!
Two: I would love to own them and add them to my little collection of rare/uncommon plants that I hope to continue to grow over this year. Really wish I owned my own home so I could build me a greenhouse. 😍

This Beautiful Planetarium Watch Puts the Solar System on Your Wrist
Good news everyone! This watch is $210k. I know this because I asked and for some reason was expecting a more reasonable number.
