The story follows the brainy Annie, a lesbian beginning her senior year of high school and grappling with the responsibilities of college applications. She already has her grades together – however, when her advisor tells her that she needs some extracurricular activities in order to round out her admissions application, she decides to join the cheerleading squad.

That’s where she reconnects with Bebe, her former friend, a trans girl who is something of a people-pleaser. As Bebe and Annie both work their way through the challenges of cheerleading squad training – not to mention the microaggressions that come with being a queer teen – will they end up rekindling their friendship… or even something more?
