“  i’ll keep that in mind.  ”  she doesn’t bring up the fact that she’s already lost everything once before,  &  that it’s the very reason everything she valued most she keeps behind a locked door. she frowns a little at the revelation, a murder was just enough to make her evening just that little bit more exciting, but she supposed it wouldn’t do anyone any good  wishing  for a murder to happen.  “  maybe i  have, maybe i  haven’t. i think you should give me some more  DETAILS  first so i can let you know if i’ve seen anything that could be related, don’t you think  ?  ”  she knows very well she’s putting up an unnecessary fight, but she was never the type to give up before she got her way, so she feigns an innocent smile at the detective  &  hopes he’ll let just a little bit about the case out.

— well, he had expected this. although he thought she was quite suspicious, it's not like his gut feeling was always right plus, even if she knew something, she wouldn't share that information easily. ❛you're just saying that to make me annoyed, i know.❜ it was working. ❛it's related to a missing person.❜ he searched for a picture of the said person on his phone and showed it to her. ❛ seen that face somewhere?❜ of course, most of what he had said was a lie but she'd never found that out would she? the picture was indeed of someone he was trying to find though. hopefully by showing her the picture, her curiousity would have diminished. ❛if not— if you ever see them, call the police.❜

                    HYUK BEING NICE from time to time were blessings from heaven, though they came in small proportions, naomi was very thankful for it. yet… she wasn’t quite used to it, she was already well accustomed to hyuk being…. well ? being him. as he ordered drinks it registered in naomi’s mind, that despite being in a relationship with him for quite a long period ( naomi wise ) they never really see each other often or know much about each other. maybe this was a god-given opportunity, she thought. ❝ are you threatening me, mr. detective ? ❞ she leaned over the table, looking at him with a raise brow. ❝ you make it sound like hanging out with me is some kind of homework, geez. at least call it a date. ❞ she sat back, more relaxed now. their drinks came, naomi opening up the bottle of soju and pouring a glass for him. ❝ well, i made a new friend the other day. i took him with me to meet the children; minmin and i took a thousand pictures at a park yesterday; i… ❞ bumped into my ex. she couldn’t say that even if she wanted to, her tongue was knotted. ❝ … i finished the mural i texted you about. ❞ she said instead, ending it with a nice smile as she opened up the bottle of beer, taking a quick swig.

— after the initial 'i have to get away so my girlfriend doesn't realize they locked me out' passed, hyuk was feeling slightly awkward. this situation was the result of him trying to save his face and while he did enjoy naomi's company, it had been a while since he'd been out of his apartment or his office; he doesn't even remember the last time they did something that could count as a date together. but then, maybe it was just his memory failing him because of tiredness. ❛what if i am?❜ it would be easier for him to stop trying so hard anyway. ❛alright alright— you know that's not how wanted it to sound. i guess, considering how busy i am, this can be considered a date too.❜ he smiled apologetically at her before he grabbed the glass she had poured him, drinking it all in one swift movement. ❛a thousand pictures? that's an awful lot, what was the occasion?❜ was this all considered as small talk? he wasn't sure, all he knew was that her life was obviously more interesting than his. ❛oh? you'll have to take me to see it next time.❜

the answer is unexpected, maybe she had taken him to be a different man than what he really was. she’d have to wait before she could ask the real question, she’s sure it won’t be a waste, to keep him open as an option. she was so busy losing herself in the business prospects that she almost misses his question all together.  “  i walk through here everyday to get home, actually. i usually change into something less  flashy, but i guess it just escaped my mind today.  ”  she had a benz sitting  &  waiting for her to use but she could never quite bring herself to. maybe it was because it was the one thing from a past she would rather forget that she still kept around, or maybe it was just because it came in a colour that she didn’t like. she doesn’t like to dwell on it much, she pushes it back for another day, another time.  “  you’re  really  not going to tell me what you’re investigating  ?  how am i supposed to protect myself then, if i don’t know what to look out for  ?  ”

— her words made him raise an eyebrow, did she really walk around here everyday? considering the obvious difference in price between her looks and the neighbourhood, she must be living a double life. he could only assume her work place or her home was around here and both betrayed his expectations. well, who was he to judge? as long as she wasn't the criminal he was looking for, he didn't care — she was a bit suspicious though. ❛rich people should remember that a simple slip up like today is why they lose everything. humans are greedy by nature; doesn't help that this area is poorer than most.❛ she had the look of someone swimming in money but something was weird; he couldn't really put his finger on it yet though. ❛it's not a murder❜ he told her, a deep sigh following not long after. ❛and, yes, i'm really not telling you. i already messed up by telling you i was here for a case❜ he didn't want to tell her more but if what she had said about coming around here everyday was true, she might known something. ❛have you noticed anything weird around here recently?❜

— pretty much, got kicked out at 12 and lived in empty buildings and stuff for a year until some rich guy found him and sent him to live with his mistress (who's the owner of an escort agency). since he owes her and respects her, when he hit 18 he became an escort and he's been once since then (he's in between 21-23 now) and he's pretty popular at that yes, get tha t money boy- personality wise he's money hungry and would do anything for it tbh lol, he's also such a player it's unreal he's gonna be the worse one i've ever played- got used to being showered with gifs so hes kind of used to the luxury now but at the same time, if he sees some random kid in need of money he probs gonna give him some. he appears out going and everything bc of his job but he hates physical contact (some gross clients might have done some bad shit before) and prefers being alone

                    THE COAT WAS a little too big for naomi, but the amount of warmth it held felt like she was being embraced by affection. she pulled the sleeves closer, being draped loosely on her shoulders. it was no surprise to naomi that hyuk was a gentleman, but she couldn’t help but wonder what had he eaten today to act quite bizarre — to be honest — from his usual persona. ❝ are you sick ? ❞ she asked him, placing the back of her hand on his forehead. he was warm, but not boiling. ❝ you don’t feel sick or look sick for that matter. ❞  maybe he was just hungry, she thought. he did sometimes forget to eat during his period at work — was there a thing as too devoted ? her suspicion melted into the background as she was lead to a food stall. answering her question. yep, he probably was just hungry. as they sat down, naomi held a serious expression on her face before speaking up. ❝ hmm…. okay…. who are you and what did you do to hyuk ? ❞ though serious, her tone was nothing but playful and no one could mistake that glint in her eyes.

— her response to his acts just made him realize how much he took her for granted. well, being nice from time to time was the best he could do so she'd have to live with that. you could say he was socially awkward and the lack of experience didn't help; most of what he does is things he's seen in movies or read on the internet. seems like this time, what he had been suggested might have been a bit too much considering his usual personality. her words were a reality check. ❛ overtired maybe?❜ he lifted his hand so the 'server' would come. ❛1 bottle of beer and 1 of soju please.❜ they had never really drinked together before so he didn't remember what she prefered. he could do with either so he figured he'd order both and take the one she leaves on the table. ❛who?— if you tease me like that i'll stop being nice.❜ two could play at this game; if she wanted to be playful, he'd oblige. ❛it's been a while since we've hung out together, fill me in.❜

“  oh wow.  ”  she breathes,  the idea that he was here to actually solve a crime striking an odd sense of excitement  &  curiosity in her.  “  so  ?  what is it  ?  is it a  murder  ?  ”  she feels a bit foolish, asking like some sort of child struck with wonderment, but she was never one to go against her own curiosity. at his next response though, she remembers why she had bothered to stick around to speak to him in the first place,  &  as if there was a flip switched she stands up straighter  &  steels her expression back into something more neutral  &  disinterested.  “  mm,  &  i suppose you  love  her  &  everything  ?  ”  she doesn’t bother to hide the disappointment in her voice, she had hoped that he might’ve been someone she could form a connection with. it was always better to have more law enforces on her side rather than that of  —  well, the law.

— there it was, he had put his foot in his mouth on that one. of course she'd be curious. considering the fact he had to wait for his friend to come he couldn't literally run away from the situation and his gut feeling told him she wouldn't take silence as an answer. ❛ i wouldn't be able to tell you even if it was. please respect the fact that i can't share such information with civilians.❜ he tried to be as professional as possible, to put some sort of space between them and maybe, just maybe, make her stop throwing questions at him. ❛ not really. she's cute though.❜ he had never been in love in his life, truthfully he didn't feel the need to be. he was busy and spent most (if not all) his time working so the fact that he had been in a relationship for a couple of months now was almost a miracle. he was always anticipating being dumped. ❛what about you? considering the price of everything you're wearing, you're not the type to be in a shabby place like this.❜ he couldn't leave until his friend arrived so he figured he'd imitate her and throw some of the questions he had asked himself previously.

she takes in his words with a sigh but agrees to simply let the man go with a slight nod of her head. she pushes any remaining thoughts of her stolen purse out of her mind for now, choosing instead to focus on the man in front of her for the time being.  “  so you’re a  detective, huh  ?  ”  she’s only met one other detective before, someone who had come into the brothel looking for a night to relax. he hadn’t been the most well paying customer, but he was a customer nonetheless. she takes her time to observe the man in question for a moment, before deciding that it wouldn’t be too useless of a business venture.  “  do you have a girlfriend or anything  ?  a wife  ?  maybe a  boyfriend  ?  ”  the answer never usually mattered in the end, but he seemed to be a good guy, he was a man that chased for justice after all.

— hyuk ignored her question for an awkward couple of seconds as he finished texting his friend in the police who he could trust to take care of this situation. ❛ mhm? yes i am. detective in the violent crime unit, which is why i'm redirecting your problem to someone else. i'm actually here for a case.❜ he was rambling. he shouldn't be rambling. this girl was a complete stranger, what if she rambled that a detective was around? it could affect the case greatly. as she spoke, he had mixed feelings. he was glad the conversation had turned around and they didn't talk about his profession anymore but he was also taken aback by her question. why would she want to know that? ❛is that really important right now?❜ wasn't that something more..personal? though, he figured she wouldn't drop it if he tried to avoid the question. ❛i have a girlfriend.❜ he ultimately admitted.

                    NAOMI POUTED AT the thought of not being let in, she had been into the precinct numerous times and was welcomed warmly every time. but she supposed if the case was a big deal it was best not to disrupt their focus. ❝ but i brought donuts… ❞ she mumbled quietly, looking down on her paint splattered sneakers. looking up when he uttered words that he wouldn’t usually say. surprised? no. because naomi knew he cared about her, in his own workaholic way, even if he didn’t show it that often. she decided not to tease him for it and let the moment linger for a while. ❝ alright… i mean,  if the case is that serious then i guess i should go home, i wouldn’t want to add up to your worries. ❞ she decided finally, giving in to his appeal and walking into the precinct and into the door of his office. but in one quick minute she was suddenly walking the opposite direction. surprised? yes. she was totally surprised. a bright smile couldn’t help but make it’s way to her lips. she brought up their joined hands. ❝ yes, you definitely should! ❞ it sounded selfish of her to have taken him out of his job for her own reasons, but when would she ever have this opportunity again? ❝ wait. ❞ she said, untangling her fingers from his, to grab the scarf she was wearing. and with tipped toes she wrapped the garment around his neck. ❝ there you go, all nice and warm and cozy. i know the months are getting warmer, but i don’t want you to get sick, especially when you’ve got a huge case to solve. ❞ she smiled before, once again, locking hands with him.

— at that, he couldn't help but smile softly at her. she could be cute sometimes (all the time). ❛ what's with that❜ he said a bit playfully as he took off his coat and put it on her back. ❛ then you'd be cold right?❜ she always took care of him, it's not like he was blind. he could clearly see how much she cared for him, that's why they had been dating for that long. truthfully, their relationship wasn't his priority, it never had been but with time, she was slowly winning him over. he had never been in a serious relationship before; he was clueless about what to do, what to say but despite that, she had stayed with him. that deserved some kind of recognition right? he couldn't say he loved her yet but he for certain, is getting there. he was kind of scared at that since he was used to being alone — plus, his job is pretty dangerous and he gets in contact with criminals often. what if one holding a grudge against him tried to do something to her? he couldn't control the what ifs or the future at all for that matter but he couldn't help but close off his heart slightly because of the many possibilities. nevertheless, if someone was to make him fall for them, naomi probably had the most chances (not that he'd admit it). he was still thinking about how cute she was when they finally arrived at the stall — he let go of her hand as he took back the coat he had given her. he then approached one of the many free tables and put the coat on one of the seats, nodding towards it so she'd sit on it as he sit on the one opposing it. he smiled brightly at her before speaking. ❛shall we drink a bit? i'll get you home safe so, let's have fun?❜

         it was a busy day at work and the owner of the shop seemed to have something for him to do every single second: bring the flowers in, water the plants, do this, do that. junsu was tired, so when the working hours ended and he had to close the shop he was very enthusiastic about it, he could finally go home and relax, away from all that pollen that gave him nothing but a headache; but just as he opened the door to get out he bumped into someone that was apparently trying to get in. “ oh, sorry but we’re about to close ” he explained to the other before taking a look at who it was.

— he had finally gotten a much deserved break (truth to be told, he had simply overworked himself and could have taken a break l o n g ago) so he had thought about buying some flowers as a way to make up with his girlfriend. he had read online that it was a sure way to be forgiven, so he had hopped in his car and drove to the nearest flower shop as soon as he could. ❛ ah really?❜ he asked, slight disappointment showing in his voice. well, his plan was ruined. ❛ this is kind of urgent—❜ he tried to explain. workaholic like he is, when would he take time to do this all over again? ❛ i'll pay double..?❜

In Hideko’s opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with working on assignments in advance. In fact, it was through this way that she managed to pull through her classes and her part-time work with less stress than she thought. Thus, it was always part of her routine to go to a cafe to finish all homework as soon as possible before going about her day.

Engrossed with her work, the young woman failed to notice someone approach her until she realized that their shadow has been within her view for quite a while now.

“ Oh my! I’m so sorry for not noticing you immediately! Was there anything you needed? ”

— while he was probably the closest to the leader on his team, he was still the youngest one. his co-workers were all mostly married with children so sometimes, even hyuk couldn't say no to them. they all had been working for the whole night and needed a break so they had tasked him to get coffee for everyone considering he was indeed the youngest but also because he had the best memory out of all of them. he went to the cafe one of his co-workers had suggested but when he got there, the menu seemed pretty unfamiliar so he decided to approach one of the clients in hopes they could help him. ❛ yes hi—❜ hopefully he didn't look too much like a creep, she seemed somewhat young. ❛one of my co-workers asked for a particular coffee but i don't see it on the menu?❜ he tried to remember exactly what she had said not long ago. ❛something about chocolate?❜ he was frustrated; the rest had all asked for simple things such as an americano but of course one of them had to make it difficult for him.

rina hadn’t wasted a second thought when approaching this neighbourhood. it wasn’t anything she had to worry about before, but then again, she had also never walked through these streets wearing her fur coat  &  louis vuitton heels. nevertheless, she was confident that she could walk through without any trouble, her eyes cast down to the phone in her hand rather than towards her surroundings. she’s in for a rude wake up call though, when she bumps into someone  &  right as she’s about to apologise, they swipe her chanel purse  &  run. she attempts a chase, which goes horribly due to the heels she has on, so instead she resorts to finding the nearest person to her  &  tugging at their arm.  “  this man just ran off with my purse  !  my  chanel  purse  !  i only have  t h r e e  of those  !  now i’m just left with  two  !  please, you have to run after him  &  get it back for me.  ”

— everybody knew how much of a workaholic hyuk was. it wasn't healthy; it wasn't unusual for him to skip eating or sleeping to work on cases. he was the type to dive head first and not leave until the problem is solved, which is why he was walking along the streets where the case he was currently working on happened in hopes to find some more clues. it wasn't the best neighbourhood but it's not like he was worried about being there alone — much to his co-workers dismay, he prefered being alone anyway. he was in his own world as he observed quietly the area when she tugged his arm. surprised, he shrugged her off. ❛ wait—❜ he looked towards the man the girl was calling a thief and then back at her. it didn't take long for him to realize she didn't exactly fit in here. why was she making more trouble for him by being here anyway? ❛ even if i chase him now i probably won't catch up but i do remember what he looks like so i'll call the local police to take care of this.❜ he couldn't let himself leave her alone but he was busy with his own case at the moment. ❛ by the way, i'm a detective. believe me, he'll be easy to catch.❜ mentionning the fact that he was a detective was simply a way for her not to run rampant at the fact that he wasn't running after the unknown man. he had his fair share of meetings with rich people and he didn't feel like dealing with the wrath of another one today.

                    THE NIGHT WAS cold and the sky was devoid of any stars to gaze upon, in it’s place were dark clouds that blended into the heavens and rain that fell rather harshly. puddles formed in the street and naomi, being who she was, couldn’t help but jump into them, splashing the water on the street, some landed on her dress. she was on her way to the station where hyuk was probably working his butt off…. and she was right, she saw his figure and ran over to him, expecting a warm hug but was greeted with a cold greeting, though she could feel his intentions were for the best. ❝ i came to see you of course ! … if that wasn’t obvious already. ❞ she held up the box of donuts she brought for him and some to spare for his colleagues, while balancing the umbrella she came with. ❝ aish, you underestimate me too much, i can take care of myself. ❞ she gave him a bright reassuring smile. ❝ anyways why are you out ? ❞ she asked, before eyeing him suspiciously.

— he certainly hadn't expected to see naomi at such a late hour. yes, it wasn't unusual for her to show up randomly at his work place but from his memory, she had never did so at night. he couldn't help but be worried; they were dating after all. at first, hyuk had been quite..agaisn't the idea of her being at his workplace considering the gravity of his work but she had eventually gotten accepted by everyone of his co-workers plus, she always made sure he had something to eat. he couldn't really oppose it after that could he? he was once agaisn't it, but he was so used to it by now that even though she did appear out of the blue, he wasn't THAT surprised by it. once again, he was more worried than anything else. ❛ you shouldn't have.. we're working on a big case at the moment i don't think the others would let you in this time. ❜ he couldn't let her in but it's not like he could just leave her alone at night. he was already thinking about calling a taxi for her. ❛ i'm sure you can but there's been a lot going on recently and i don't think i'd be able to live with myself if something happens to you ❜ he admitted nonchalantly. ❛ why? ❜ he paused. ❛ the case we're working on is a bit difficult to handle..emotionally. even for me. ❜ he left it at that, finally putting out the cigarette he had been holding this whole time. ❛i'll call a taxi so come inside just for a little while ok? ❜ that was the option he had finally decided on but obviously, there is always variables. when he tried to get in his office, he was met with a locked door and with his keys still inside, he had no way to get in. at that moment, he acted before thinking it through ; he grabbed the box of donuts before grabbing her now free hand quickly and started moving to the closest stall he could find. ❛ since you came all the way here for me, i should stay with you shouldn't i? ❜, he said, a sweet smile showing up on his face. he didn't want her to find out he was locked out (it was embarrassing) so that's all he could think of as a solution at the time. he just hoped she would go along with it.

minji was almost numb to the fear of walking home alone at night. she had done it before, much younger, in much more dangerous parts of busan. she did have a small knife with her, just in case, but she never thought she would actually have to use it. she hadn’t had an incident since moving after all. with that in mind she walked calmly, setting a slow pace as she headed home after a late work shift. she stopped when she spotted someone nearby, not sure who it was in the distance.  for a moment she considered taking a longer route home, figuring safe was better than potentially dead when she heard him call out to her. all of sudden she felt stubborn, walking out farther with her arms crossed. “late night shift, just checking out the sights as i head home. didn’t really want to sleep at work after all.” that wasn’t quite true, she didn’t care much about sights, but she had definitely been taking a leisurely walk back. this really was the only time of the day she had any free time after all. she looked at him, an eyebrow raised. “you won’t. i can take care of myself plenty well you know.”

— maybe it was his experience speaking ( he did mostly help raising his siblings ) but normally, even more so concerning a girl, you shouldn't walk alone at night. it could be extremely dangerous and while he realized they were in a pretty lit place and it could be worse his sense of responsability had already kicked in. what if he let the girl go and something happened to her? how could he live with himself as someone who tries to stop such acts from happening ? ❛ a taxi would have been another choice mhm?❜, he reminded her calmly. ❛ well— i don't really blame you. i wish i was on my way home too but here i am, stuck at work.❜ he swiftly threw his cigarette on the floor, stepping on it a couple of times to make sure the flame was out; it was impolite of him to smoke while talking to her (in his opinion). he laughed slightly at her confidence. ❛you're telling me, if i grabbed you right now and tried to hurt you, you could stop me is that it?❜ considering his background, unless she had some experience with martial arts, she had no chance so it's not like he'd try it just to prove his point but he was now curious as to how she could be that confident. ❛anyway, should i call you a taxi ? it's on me. if the other guys in there —❜ he pointed to his office. ❛ever hear i let a girl walk by herself at night i'll be killed.❜

— rain was pourring endlessly as he made his way out of his office and stepped outside. he had been in this line of work ever since he was at the age where one could work so he had seen his fair share of cases but this one, this one was hard even for himself. as part of the violent crime unit, he had to handle many cases which would make any normal citizen sick in his stomach and to be able to do his job well, he couldn't have such reactions. from young, it had never really been a problem for him to see graphic stuff but sometimes,particularly when childrens are involved, it gets to you you know? whenever he needs to take a breather, he goes outside to take a smoke. it was almost a ritual for him to do so. thus, he got a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, taking one out and lighting it before he noticed the other. with a sigh, he put the pack back in his back pocket. ❛ why are you here? it's too late for you to be wandering around like this.. i don't feel like seeing your face as the next victim in one of my cases ❜
