Do you ever miss Clara? She was your first real love after Marie, after all.
Of course I do, Nonnie. I never loved Marie. I tried to, sure, but I never loved her, not like I loved Clara, but…I had to make a decision that was best for my son and for myself. I hope- I hope more than I’ve ever hoped for anything that she’s doing well.
call // liam
Brielle: [Running her hand nervously through her hair as she waits for him to pick up.]
Liam[sees the caller ID and picks up quickly.]: Bri?
I saw your cousin with red hair the other day. Think she's trying to go undercover or something?
I hope not.
Do you think that you'll ever get married again? Why/why not?
I've never been married to start with, Nonny. I wouldn't mind being married at all. Kaleb approving, of course.
Do you drink or smoke?
I smoke. I've started smoking a good bit lately, but I refuse to start drinking again. I can't.
Where do you see yourself going with Brielle in the future?
If she ever forgives me, there are so many places I'd like to take Brielle. I know that probably isn't what you meant, but...I want her to be happy, and if being with me makes her happy, then good.
Do you ever think that you'd want to give Kaleb a sibling?
I can't even keep Kaleb safe. How the Hell would I.... In a perfect world, I would love to have more kids one day.
I’m good, I came by to see how you are…[He clears his throat.] to talk.
[He takes a deep breath.] Alright, come on in. How are the girls?
Shit, seriously? He’s okay, right? What? No. No, no, don’t call that old bitch, don’t give her the satisfaction! What do you need? Money? A place to stay? What? Tell me, I can get it for you.
…I can’t believe you went to Disneyland and didn’t invite me.
He is, but Bri...She had to have serious surgery. Its not what I need, Rai, its the fact that I can't keep him safe. If she can do a better job...I can't stand the thought of not having him with me, but I can't be selfish if I"m not what is best for him. I don't know, Rai. I just...don't know.
Sorry, Rai, Bri took us.
The voicemail…that mysterious item. Shit, Kaleb—is he here with you?
For now, Rai...I- he almost got hurt in disney land....and I..I'm thinking about calling Grandmother.
I’m not here to be entertained…what are you doing here, Liam?
Looking for whatever that voicemail wanted, Rai. I'm out of time...Why are you here?
I'm sorry, I'm not really in the mood to entertain. Are you alright, though?
Liam,
It turns out, you and I have something in common: we’re both selfish. Surprise, surprise! Or maybe, it’s no surprise at all, as I’m coming to find out about our family, there is very little that we won’t do to obtain wealth and power. Am I the only one who wonders about the dark deeds are fathers get up to? I mean, come on, Liam, aren’t you curious about what secrets they’re hiding, when they take their wives, and hop on a plane to California for a, ‘business trip?’ I guess not, especially not now since you’ve become Houdini, and performed a disappearing act. Then again, maybe it’s better if your dad can’t hand you the keys to, what I’m positive is, a shady empire.
You’re probably wondering why I bothered to write you a letter, at all. You weren’t my first choice for a personal, and handwritten farewell, but we are family, and there is one thing you need to know; I went with my dad to L.A. last month, and while he was out, I rummaged through the papers he had in his hotel suite, and discovered that our family has been paying a lot of money to a Mr. Van Buren, under the pretense of a club membership. I don’t know any clubs in the world that have a membership fee over $100,000, maybe you should look into that, if you ever decide to come home.
-Annabel

Fuck. Everything.
"I’m going to have to go out of town to look, will you be okay until I get back?" She was increasingly nervous about leaving, she couldn’t exactly rely on her family members to stay safe when she wasn’t around. "If what you say is true, that these people will hurt us, you need to get Kaleb, Nora, and Elodie, and go somewhere they wouldn’t think to look for you." He looked like he was about to be sick and Raime put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing.
"I'm coming with you," Liam replied right away, lips thinning, "I'll try to get the girls to take Kaleb...maybe New York...somewhere they can be safe..." He took another deep breath, "But I won't stand by while someone is threatening the people I care about."
"Okay…I have an idea of where to look…" She wasn’t positive she was going to be much help, Liam didn’t exactly give her any clues of what she was looking for, but if Annabel had stolen something, she had probably wrote it down somewhere. Raime had kept her sister’s journals and letters locked away in her room at their vacation house, if she left now, she could be back by tonight. "I’m sorry this is happening, but you can’t fall apart right now, okay? This family kind of needs you to keep it together, especially Kaleb."
Liam perked up, looking at Raime helplessly, "Alright...I just..want to get this taken care of. They gave me two weeks, Rai...or they're going to hurt Kaleb." His stomach lurched and he had to resist the urge to be sick, "I just want things to stop going wrong," he rubbed his face again, talking mostly to himself.
