The walking dead has me like

Despite the fact that the new season had just started, Liam was still going about with his normal routine. Sort of. Liam didn’t have a routine as much as he was in the habit of doing dumb shit. But in his defense, he needed to have some fun now more than ever if he was going to be dealing with Captain Carver 14 hours a day and 6 times a week. To make matters worse, Carver had become an even more insufferable since Elena Krum - the Krum - joined the team.
As brother of the team captain, and because he was just such a nice guy, Liam decided to take it upon himself to solve Carver’s Elena problem.
He was planning a wedding. Or a funeral, he hadn’t decided.
But like all master plans, this one wouldn’t be carried out alone. No, Liam needed assistance. He needed someone he could trust, someone who wouldn’t really ask questions and most importantly, someone who was nice to look at if he was going to be spending that much time with them.
With a loud pop, Liam found himself standing in the middle Hugo Weasley’s bedroom. “Honey, I’m home!“ he yelled rather loudly, a proud grin on his face when he noticed Hugo still in bed. It had only taken Liam 10 years to master the art of apparating but once he did there was really no stopping him. In a sense, he had Carver to thank for that. His brother threatened to use his fireplace the “muggle way” to keep Liam arriving via floo network unannounced.
It was pretty fortunate when Hugo had finally found the sense to move out of his parents attic and into his own shitty studio because Ronald and Hermione Weasley had a very long, upstanding rule about Liam Wood apparating in and out of their home. Honestly, the kid was a fucking mess. It probably started around the time that he apparated into Rose’s bedroom and progressively got worse once he "accidentally” apparated into the shower with Ron. By that point, Hugo had started to make enough to move out on his own. After all, a dingy one room flat made things a bit easier for his friend to navigate when your bedroom was also your kitchen and your living room. Hugo heard the telltale crack of the honest to god only other person that was even allowed to apparate into his flat other than his flesh and blood Hermione and occasionally Rose, and Hugo hugged his pillow tighter to his chest and promptly rolled over in bed, giving Liam a muffled groan at the intrusion. “Honey, please, I’m struggling,” a murmured voice came through the barriers of pillows. It was like, 3 in the afternoon. “Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…” Hugo moved his head away from his snuggly pillow enough to shush at the boyman before finally peeking one eye open. He smiled lazily; tiredly up at him before tugging another pillow out from beneath the mass of pillows and blankets he had taken refuge under and promptly tossed one at the hairs on his perfectly placed head. “Whatever you want is probably going to get us in trouble but whatever, I’m in.” Hugo was a glutten for punishment. And for Liam Wood, apparently. You think he would have learned, growing up with a bunch of Weasleys and yet…
Liam Wood wasn't sure how he had gotten so lucky in life. He had accomplished his career goal at a younger age than most, had a great family (even if he had told his parent and siblings he would've loved them a little less had they not been quidditch stars), and he also had great friends. And then there was Hugo Weasley.
To this day Liam wasn't entirely sure how it began. After his declaration of love for Rose went badly, Hugo was there to pick up the pieces - the first year laughed at him but eventually helped distract Liam by offering to throw rocks at the giant squid. Honestly, it was downhill from there.
"It's like 3pm," he half whined, walking into the kitchen and picking up an open box of animal crackers off the counter. "I told Carver I had important business to take care of so I couldn't make it into practice. Honestly, I just wanted to sleep in but I figured we could be productive today."
"Don't give me that look, Weasley. I showered for this," he pointed out, a stoic look on his face despite Hugo’s dumb, sleepy smile. Honestly, if Liam didn't have the attention span of a toddler he would have let Hugo keep sleeping. But he was bored.
Sighing dramatically, he plopped down at the end of the bed. They sat in silence for about 30 seconds before Liam was grinning again. "Great!" he exclaimed, jumping up again and accidentally sending tiny animal crackers flying out of the box. "Alright, make yourself look decent because we're expanding out horizons today." Sort of. There was a good change they'd end the night wasted as usual.
Wood You Just...| TEAMWOOD
Olivia Wood was a calming presence. She could go head to head with the best of them and not even break a sweat. While she was on her broom high above the pitch, nothing could shake her. That is what she knew, it was in her bones, in her blood. Even when she was off the pitch she was leveled headed, rational and an all around calm person. Growing up the youngest sibling of Carver and Liam Wood, she had to find a middle ground between them, Liam was one extreme while Carver was the other, letting Olivia, ever her mothers daughter, fall perfectly in the middle.
She was calm. Until she wasn’t. She was rational until things were so bad not even SHE could see a solution. This was one of those moments. This why she was flooing into Carver’s living room in the middle of the night. “CAR?!” She called out desperate to find him, but also not desperate to catch him in a compromising position, once had been enough. She began pacing back and forth in front of the fireplace, her hands were shaking as she listened for any sound, any hint of movement.
“Car!” She called again, her voice was hoarse and didn’t quite hold the confidence she normally had. “Are you here?” She asked walking back towards the hallway leading to his bedroom. She hated just showing up but this was bad.
Very bad. DEF CON ONE bad. Voldemort returning Bad. Losing the World Cup at the last second bad. She looked down at her left hand. Her ringless left finger tugging at her heart. She felt a mix of emotions. She loved that ring, loved all that it represented the love she felt for Isaac that he had returned a thousand times over. She felt guilt for losing it in the first place. She felt panic because she didn’t know how to tell him, however in this moment she felt fear and anger because this wasn’t the way she wanted him to find out.
She looked around the empty apartment, she was almost sure he wasn’t here. She was alone. That was thought that did her in, the thought the had her sinking to floor leaning against the wall with her head in her hands. That’s the way that Carver found her.
All questionable variables in Carver’s life seemed to be pointed in the general direction of the nearest pub, and so who was he to opt out Braeden’s invitation to bar hop after practice?? One might call it irresponsible, considering their upcoming meet with the Bats this weekend…. As team captain, Carver simply thought of it as “team bonding.” It would probably help him sleep better tonight.
But any ideas of sleep he had for the near future disappeared as soon as he walked through the door of his flat, stumbling slightly in the dark of the room before finding a light switch…
And promptly shouting at the figure that had been sitting on the ground in his dimly lit living room.
“Christ, Ollie, I nearly had a he–” but Carver’s words got lost in his throat as he looked to see his little sister staring up at him in panic. Carver took his wand out of his back pocket and let it roll out of his hand and messily upon the coffee table before managing to sober right up as he crouched in front of her, his eyes scanning her balled up figure for any signs of being hurt.
After finding none, he finally found the words to speak, entering big brother mode quite quickly, all things considering. “What’s going on, Olivia? What’s the matter? Are you okay?”
“Carver, I–I…”Ollie looked up at her big brother, the tears in the corners of her eyes threatening to fall. His voice had almost a calming effect on her. It always had, she loved her brothers deeply, as any sibling would. The connection she felt with hers was different, she knew, deep down that no matter what the problem was that they would be there always, even if her father wouldn’t. This was different though. This was huge and she wasn’t handling it well. She was terrified of what this would mean, Carver had been less than pleased when she and Isaac had first started dating but that was years ago and so much has happened since that. He needed to know and she needed to communicate the panic as her silence was obvious on her face.
It was almost comical.
Actually, it was comical which is why out of nowhere a giggled escaped her filling the sitting room of his flat. He clearly didn’t see the humor, which silenced her immediately. “Your face right now” She began, her face falling as everything came back to her she shook her head “It was amusing” She clarified, wiping the lone tear from her cheek. When he prompted her again as to what was wrong she knew. It was now or never. She glanced down at her bare left hand again and brought it up to her heart.
“It’s..Isaac h-he” She stopped taking a deep breath. She looked Carver dead in the eyes and she smiled as she said “He asked me to marry him and I said yes” She told him but her joy was dashed as the events the followed came back to her. “We didn’t tell anybody because, well you know how the media can be and then there’s dad to think about you and Liam so we decided just to keep it to us but” her babbling ceased her voice shaking on the last word. “I can’t find the ring” She said closing her eyes for a moment “I KNOW how silly this must seem to you but” She shook her head. “With everything that is happening with the trade rumors and practice and everything that was the one thing the one thing that was solid and steady and I’ve lost it and Isaac is already mad at me we had a fight and when he–I don’t what to do” She paused looking down shamefully “I know this is Liam’s line but can I sleep on your couch” She finally said her voice small. Her green eyes shining with her tears.
Carver knew what his face looked like. It was essentially the same Oliver Wood made when someone told him that Quidditch was cancelled. His frown only deepened and his brows furrowed even more the moment she started laughing.
For as much as he loved his siblings, sometimes it really felt like he could kill them.
But if her sudden burst of laughter had caught him off guard, it was nothing compared to her telling him that she was engaged. “WHAT?” he shouted, maybe a bit louder than he meant to, but considering he was still slightly very tipsy… Olivia didn’t seem to notice or care, however, as her horror quickly returned as she continued on, and Carver’s surprise seemed to ebb away with something more… Familiar. Brotherly love or maybe just a pleasant buzz.
Carver set his jaw and settled for protective-big-brother mode as opposed to the alternative… Which was asking if she wanted a drink. He had a bottle of fire whiskey…. Somewhere. Carver stood back up on his feet (rather sturdy for someone who had been at the pubs all night, thanks Quidditch skills!), grabbing her hand in the process and pulling her up onto her feet as well. “Hey,” he brought her attention back to him as he placed a hand to her head and gave her messy waves a ruffle, causing her bangs to stick about in a way that reminded him a lot of their younger years. “Everything is gonna be fine, alright? We’re Woods.”
Which, now that he thought about it, really wasn’t very helpful. Olivia was by far the only one with her head on her shoulders up until now; Liam was, well, Liam, and Merlin only knew Carver’s head had been elsewhere. Carver shrugged. “And if not, then we always have Quidditch.” He didn’t need to tell her he was just kidding. Carver smirked before motioning her to follow him down the hall. “Come on, Liam Jr… I might be the big brother who secretly hopes your ring is lost for good and you’ll be single and innocent and 6 years old forever, but since you can’t…”
Carver turned into his bedroom and turned on the light, patting his soft grey comforter with a smile. “You can take the bed. And I promise I’ll help you look for your ring in the morning. After I sleep off a hangover.”
Liam had had a rough night - or day, he wasn’t exactly sure what time it was when he jolted awake. He was warm but the tiles(?) on the floor felt cool against his cheek. He blinked a couple times in attempt to actually wake up but it was no use, not when the room he was in was pitch black.
"Hugo?" he murmured, extending his arm and trying to feel the space beside him. He gave up quickly, figuring he must have accidentally apparted while at the Three Broomsticks. It was stupid and risky considering Liam quite literally just got the hang of apparating but he blamed it on the one too many fire whiskey shots.
He continued to lay on the floor for a good two minutes, finally sitting up when he heard a loud familiar voice. So he was a Carvers place. Weird, since he'd been spending the week at Ollie's place instead.
When he finally managed to climb off the floor, he staggered slightly and opened the bathroom door. Liam blinked a couple more times, letting his eyes get adjusted to the light.
"Dude, could you keep it down? I'm trying to sleep," he began, a yawn escaping his lips as he ran a hand through his messy hair. Not only that, but his shirt was on inside out and he was currently sporting a shiny diamond ring on his left pinky finger. "Ollie? What are you - shit, are we having a team meeting? What time is it? Is someone bringing coffee?"
∾ I’m not much of a horror fan. When it comes to ghost stuff and demon stuff, I can’t watch that.
here’s a concept: me, riding your ceiling fan like a gargoyle. you, smacking me with a broom. both of us are yelling

Liam Wood was not a serious man. At a young age he was called innocent, and eventually as a teen he was naive. Now, as a grown man who would hit 30 in a couple of years, Liam was just careless. - but probably one of the happiest people around.
But contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t always fun and games. A devoted quidditch player, Liam made it a priority to stay at the top of his game. Having Carver as a team captain put a slight damper on his training routine seeing as how he couldn’t take his brother seriously. Still, sneaking out of practices early and skipping team meetings gave Liam more free time than he knew what to do with. So in an attempt to be, as his mother would say, “more responsible”, Liam got himself a part time job.
He never really pictured himself as a plant guy. Herbology had come fairly easy to him during his time at Hogwarts but aside from that Liam wasn’t passionate about plants...but he was passionate about Victoire Weasley.
Despite the fact that she had been two years ahead of him and in a different house, it had been love at first sight. He never spoke more than 12 words to her during their time at Hogwarts but they had grown close over the past few years (he really owed Rose for that). One day Liam was running into the Tilted Tullip for a last minute birthday present for Carver and the next Vic was hiring him - thus, the start of a beautiful friendship.
“Hey!” he greeted, a huge grin forming on his face when Vic finally walked into the shop. Liam, who had been in the shop since 7am, was currently sporting a white apron with bright purple tulips all over it as he continued to sweep the floor the muggle way. “How’s it going? I mean I know it’s only noon so it’s still pretty early to say - things could be going great and then suddenly - or I mean you could’ve had a shit morning and now your here so it gets better because seriously, Vic, have I mentioned how awesome it is to work here?” Liam finally stopped talking to take a breath. She was so pretty.
