(Let’s continue with this character being a mess because this is my life tonight) 

Mara had been sleeping with this dude on and off for years well he decided he was going to get married. Mara being the petty asshole she is showed up to his wedding with the invite he sent her and a date which was Liam. She spent the night hardcore drinking and was deff drunk by the first dance. Liam tried to tell her this was 10/10 a horrible idea and they should leave, but tequila Mara does what tequila Mara wants. I’m not saying she slept with the groom at his wedding, but she slept with the groom at his wedding. Someone please queue every Sza song. So after that mess Liam dragged her out of there before she ruined the happy couple’s wedding. They sit in the car talking for a while and they ended up having their first kiss. Pretty much they made out that night and it’s also how tequila became their thing and why the Dan + Shay song reminds him of her.

“Oh it’s super awkward,” Zoe agreed.  She rolled her eyes then.  “Dad, please don’t be weird about girls I’ve fucked.  I mean….there is no reason to get awkward or overprotective.  With most of them I wasn’t looking for anything serious.  Except Amelia but you know how that ended.”

“Zoe, I’m always going to be weird about girls you’ve slept with. There is always reason to get awkward and overprotective. Always! You’re my little girl so of course I’m always going to want to protect you. I do know how that ended and because I don’t want your heart broken ever, even I’m going to be this way. I don’t ever want you to feel what I felt…with your mom. I don’t want that for you. Just happiness.” He knew it was unrealistic but he loved his daughter.

“Well honesty is the best policy, or so I’ve been told.” She replied, with a quick shrug. His word’s hadn’t been unearned, she could be terrible, she would look for the things that would hurt the most and throw them back at someone. “That’s the way I see it.” She agreed, it was a major part of the reason she’d come here, despite it being evidently dangerous for her. “Honestly anywhere, it’s all equally trashed. You really don’t have to help out if you’ve got something better to get to. I can manage.” 

“That it is. It’s the only way you’ll know you’re on the same page is when there’s some honesty.” He looked over at her when she said he didn’t have to help out. “Avery, if I had somewhere else to be I wouldn’t have come. Regardless of everything, I don’t wish harm or ill on you and I wanted to see with my own eyes that you’re still here and okay. Even if the store’s not so great, we can fix that but as long as you’re okay.”

When Mara saw Liam she knew she should have waited until the morning given how tired he looked, but this couldn’t wait anymore. “Liam.” Replying to her name with his own, she instantly regretted it. Rubbing her side of her face with her hand, she took in a deep breath. “It’s almost three am.” Admitting to him quietly, she realized how crazy this all made her seem. “No— nothing is wrong babe. It’s fine. Well— at least physically. Nobody’s in danger or hurt though.” Correcting herself before she worried him and she gave his hand another squeeze. “I just want to talk for a bit.” Keeping her words vague as she stepped into the house, she kept ahold of his hand. Leading him into the dark living room, she flipped on the light. “Are you sure you want to do this? I mean you look exhausted.” Putting both of her hands to his face, she knew that she was stalling but she wanted to make sure he really wanted to have this talk too. “I mean we can talk in the morning. I just— I want to make sure we talk soon.” Slipping one of her hands down from his face to his chest, she rested it over his heart. “It’s up to you, Liam.”

When she said it was almost three in the morning, his brows shot up in confusion even more. He wasn’t sure what exactly was going on but he planned to listen and shake off his grogginess. He nodded when she said that no one was hurt or anything. “We can talk, Mara,” he assured. “I’m fine I got a bit of sleep. It was just the shock of being awakened at this hour that has me looking more tired than I am.” He was more so wanting to know what was going on now than anything else. He let her lead him to the the living room as he took a seat on the couch, pulling her with him. “We can talk now, you came all the way over here because there was something on your mind. Tell me whats going on.” He situated her so she was sitting sideways on his lap and his arms were around her waist as he spoke.

After the conversation with Zoe about the list Mara was left feeling confused and slightly unresolved with everything involving Liam. She’d spent the last two days trying to work out what she felt, what she wanted to do with the situation. Looking down at her phone as she stood outside Liam’s door, she nervously tucked her hair behind her hair. “Fuck it.” Knocking lightly on the door, she knew took in a deep breath. Continuing to knock on the door softly in the hopes that he’d wake up and answer the door so she didn’t have to be out here all night. Once the door opened and Liam game into view a smile appeared across her features. “Hey–” Leaning against the door frame, she bit her bottom lip. “I’m sorry that I woke you up, but since you’re up can we talk?” Asking softly, she reached her hand out to take his. Giving his hand a slight squeeze, she let her thumb rub the back of his hand. “I’ve just had a lot on my mind and really need to just–” Trying to find the words, but she still couldn’t get them out. “I just need to talk to you.”

Liam was getting some much needed rest. He was so tired that he slept dreamlessly. He even had heard a knock and jumped when it sounded, wondering where the emergency was. He certainly hoped that no one was bringing him an animal at this hour. He was disoriented when he opened the door. “Mara?” he asked with a frown. “What time is it? What’s wrong?” he asked. He stopped talking long enough to listen to what she was saying. He nodded then. “Yeah, of course we can talk. What’s up?”

Zoe rolled her eyes when her father said that.  Maybe she had to take that philosophy to heart with her relationship with Owen.  “I think you caught most of the parenting moments, Dad.  I wouldn’t have traded that for anything in the world.”

Despite that thought, she didn’t want to think about her father’s list.  She especially didn’t want to think about Mara being on the list.  Telling her to put her on didn’t mean he flirted.  It meant they fucked and Zoe would need a bucket of brain bleach for that.  After all, Mara was her friend.  “The list wouldn’t be necessary if we had a way of telling which women were into women, then you could just avoid them since I’m clearly not hooking up with straight girls.”

Liam sighed. “You know, having slowed age has it’s severe disadvantages. This being one. Because I swear the list is the most awkward thing, but more necessary than anyone will ever realize.” He hated to be that person that double dipped into his daughter’s dating pool. “Which one day if I run into people on you list I don’t know if I can look them in the eye or fight the urge to not give them the over protective dad act.”

Liam: Just in case you didn't save my number and would try to give someone else these brownies.

Liam: You don't think I could? Because I can. Who needs abs? I don't. Brownies are better.

“Then maybe you’re just looking at all the odd people! Or at the wrong place.” Elena grinned. She was never good with compliments- mainly because they were so overwhelmingly rare. “That is why I would never wear a hoodie and sunglasses! If you’re hiding, you need to blend with the crowd. Wear what the kids wear nowadays.” She smiled at her own silly joke. “How do you act normal?”

“I mean I’d be looking at the right people and the right place,” he said with a shrug. “I’d love to see you out there wearing what the kids are wearing,” he laughed along with her joke. “Well for starters you just walking you normally would. You don’t look over your shoulders and if you look in directions you do it casually as if you’re window shopping when you’re on the street. It’s easy to blend in. I mean I do it every day. How do you think Clark Kent or Super Girl manage to keep their identities a secret? They just blend in.”

“Well as of at the moment? No. But I saw a couple of houses for sell on the way over here, and I would much rather have a house than a tiny one bedroom apartment anyways.” Brooklyn knew that the apartment wouldn’t still be available when she returned, still a small piece of her had hope. “So I guess it all works out.”  

“I can attest that I put away that apartment life long ago in favor of a house. I need space, and a backyard for my dog to roam. Apartments just seem so cramped, even if it’s just me in it.”

“Like ten years or so.” Brooklyn shrugged. “I told them I would be back, didn’t think i’d be gone for so long.” 

Liam told himself that he wasn’t going to laugh. He said that he wouldn’t laugh at this number of years but he did. Had she honestly expected them to hold it? “Ten years? Wow. Yeah, I’m pretty sure someone’s kid grew up in that apartment in that amount of time. Do you not have a place to live now?”

“Yes! Plain sight! Tell me this- if you were looking for someone hiding in the crowd, would you focus on a random passerby with bright hair, or someone with a hoodie and sunglasses on?”

“When I’m looking for someone hiding in a crowd, there’s not a chance I’d think to look twice for a cute woman such as yourself red hair or not. But if you’re hiding in a crowd, hoodie and sunglasses are a dead giveaway. It screams don’t look at me, so in turn people do look at you. If you’re acting normal though maybe not.”

“I can’t believe they rented out my old apartment, I told them I would be back.” Brooklyn looked up at the brick apartment building, she just walked out of. Crossing her arms she let out an aggravated huff. “It’s been awhile, but I came back.”

Evie: I POURED TOO MUCH SUGAR INTO MY BROWNIE BATTER SO I ADDED EXTRA EVERYTHING ELSE TO EVEN IT OUT AND NOW I'VE GOT FIVE DOZEN BROWNIES ALREADY BAKED AND TWO MORE BATCHES IN THE OVEN.

Evie: i'm being overrun by chocolate 😩

Liam: So...what this means is Liam should come over? And help you eat said brownies? That's what I'm reading. Yes or yes?

“Oh you caught me, it was totally me.” she replied before she grinned and gave herself away. “I wish I could take credit, but alas I never got the gift of telekinesis.”

The gift of telekinesis runs nowhere in my family, but I’d have to say there are times when I’m envious of those that actually have it.” He didn’t have a single witch in his family. Now the family he married into yes, but not his own. It was werewolves and humans only pretty much.

He’d actually tripped and tried to play it off until someone actually said something. “I’d appreciate that but I swear something was on the ground. I don’t usually trip over my own two feet. You’re not out here with the power of telekinesis are you, playing a trick on me for laughs.”
