Minjae Lee New small work “Mute” Marker/pen on paper
street art: oakland
Another huge set of an enormous array of different pieces taken in one location within the past week.
This area has always been a hot-spot for street art activity but recently saw a huge surge in the number of new pieces appearing there due to the ‘South Yorks’ event that took place on Sunday 22 July 2012 as part of the Tramlines Festival and was curated by Kid Acne and Peter from the graphics design company Peter and Paul.
The majority of the pieces featured in this set were painted for or as part of that event. In particular, London-based Dscreet’s piece was painted live as the event happened.
As well as these pieces, this set also features some pieces painted elsewhere in the same area on the 28th July. These pieces were painted just a few days before - as part of a council renovation plan for the surrounding area - the hot-spot was closed off and is now out-of-bounds to the public, meaning that the majority of the art featured in this set can, unfortunately, no longer be seen.
This image set features pieces by coLor, EMA, Dscreet, Narke, MilaK, Prone and others.
It is also the last selection of images I have from my recent trip to Sheffield and I will not be returning for an extended period of time again until mid-September, meaning that posts will now become less frequent. However, I will still aim to post whenever a new piece appears using images from other sources if possible so keep an eye out for future updates.
