I have a few more Aintree facts tho! This was the last leg of his European tour and it was reported that it’s the largest concert ever performed in the UK by a solo artist. Merseyside police had to cancel all leave and had to draft in 500 extra police officers. 30+ people were taken to hospital due to fainting. Michael went on to say “I have always considered Liverpool the home of contemporary pop music, by virtue of its being the birthplace of the incomparable Beatles.” and so Michael performed a Beatles medley as part of a tribute to being in Liverpool.
