 After several rounds of interviews, a couple of sleepless nights, and a written proposal, it is my absolute pleasure to announce that I have been offered the position of Director of the Public Library, Snowbury Branch. I’m very excited to transition into my new position, and begin getting some community outreach and programs going here at the Library. If there is anything you’d be interested in seeing please reach out. Otherwise be on the lookout for future posts about happenings at the Library.

For Saber Bellerose, the outside world was full of standards and expectations. So was the space inside her family’s home, between her and her parents. Everyone expected something from the beauty queen. The only thing Jonah expected was her love, and she adored him more than she could say. His smile made her smile wider. His idea made her smile even wider than that. “That’s a great idea, baby. I bet you will do great things with it. You’re good at that kind of thing. Don’t worry about the pay, worry about the opportunity. Worry about what you want to do.” 

Seeing Saber brighten only made Jonah brighten more too, and he reached for her hand while they spoke, wanting to be close to her while they talked through things. “Do you really think so?” He knew Saber wouldn’t lie to him, but he also couldn’t help but doubt himself just a little. All his life, Jonah Carrol had worked hard to stay in the shadows, fine with being in the background, out of the spotlight, where no one could see him. But since the previous Director had left he was unable to stop himself from thinking about everything he wanted to do, the changes he wanted to make, and programs he wanted to get started. “Worrying about the pay is something I’m going to have to do, if we’re...” Jonah stopped his train of thought, not wanting to run too far off with his mouth and ideas. Not just yet anyway. “I do think I’m going to go for it though.” He said with finality.

The two had been spending a lot of time together since they had officially started dating, and a bit before that too. It had just become natural at this point. The sound of Jonah’s voice made her turn her attention to him, a soft smile on her face. “It’s a big deal if you think it’s a big deal, babe. What is it? You’ve got my attention.”

Seeing the smile on Saber’s face brought a warm, tingling feeling to his chest. Standing up, Jonah moved easily across the room, taking Saber’s hand and helping her to her feet and guiding her over to the bed. Taking a seat, he took her hands in his, turning to face her. “Thank you for being, well, you.” He said, blushing a bit. “I’ve been thinking about applying for the open Director’s position at the library. I’ve got a lot of ideas, I really want to bring the place to life. Get more involved in the community and vice versa. I think I could do well at it, maybe. I just wasn’t sure what you’d think. It would be more pay.” He added, smiling.

Running a hand through his hair nervously, Jonah glanced over at Saber. “So, I have kind of big news. I think it’s big news. I’ve been thinking about it for some time.” @saberbellerose​

Hello, beautiful. You, my darling, are a sight for sore eyes. Did you sleep alright? It’s Sunday, so you know what that means. I’m off work, and we have a whole day dedicated to you. Is there anything in particular you’d like to do today? @saberbellerose​

I just cannot believe it is almost May, time has just been flying by. That means we are officially only about two months out from this year’s Pre-K graduation at Smile Time. I have lots to plan and put together but I look forward to it every year. I am still considering themes for this year though so if anyone has any suggestions, please do let me know. 

You’re so right, this winter season has absolutely flown by. I was writing something the other day, and when I went to date it I realized I wrote 1/5 instead of 3/5. Apparently I’m still back in January, so consider it a blessing you’re at least aware of what month you’re in. I’m not sure I’d be much help with a theme, I’ve been trying to think of an event for the library to host for weeks now and keep coming up blank. But, it looks like you’ve gotten several suggestions so I’m sure you’ll be able to pinpoint one you’re interested in using.

People very dear to me have been dragged this season, more than I remember, so it bothers me. Oh, thanks Jonah, I think. Glad people don’t think being stuck in a fictional love triangle with Remy and Alec isn’t the worst.

Of course! Hope to see you both. I don’t know who else is working so you’ll definitely be seeing me going back and forth behind the bar. Besides getting yourself a girlfriend, how have you been? I haven’t seen you in a while.

I get it, a lot of us are in the same or a similar situation. But in a way that’s the ironic beauty of it, that no one has room to judge because pretty much everyone was called out. Let people talk, so what? Is it really going to change anything? It’s Snowbury, we all know the score. 

Sounds like we’re in for a fun night, with you behind the bat. I’ve always heard good things. I must say, I’m not really a big drinking guy, and I don’t want to make a fool of myself in front of Saber. What would you recommend I order? I’d like to look like I know what I’m doing. 

I’ve been doing alright, things have been great since Saber came into my life. It got me out of the library at least, which is probably why you haven’t seen me. I’ve been focusing on work, mainly, just trying to keep my head down. What about you, Savanna?

Welcome to Snowbury. Fantastic. Yes, Welcome to Snowbury where everything is a scandal. Good job, AA, you’ve done it again. There is rocking the boat, and then there is that. It appears the seeds of discord you’ve planted are starting to grow. In other news, Jameson is trying to kill me with this deal, but, we’ve got half off mixed cocktails this weekend with the purchase of weekly special platters. You know you’re girl will be slinging drinks all night and all weekend long, starting tomorrow. So come see me.

I’m sorry you weren’t happy about what got written. It seems you weren’t the only one hit in that arena, and really if you’re looking for a positive, your section wasn’t the most scandalous in there. It’ll blow over, it always does. 

That does sound like a great deal, actually. I don’t generally do bars, but I wonder if Saber might like to come this weekend. Maybe you’ll see us there, we’ll say ‘hi’ if we see you.

More snow for me, then. Not that there isn’t enough to go around. Or maybe there isn’t, because it’s melting now. I did enjoy my walk. Congratulations on getting a girlfriend!

You’re right, it is melting now. I’m pretty sad to see it go, but I know not everyone feels that way. Like I said, I do find it to be beautiful. I just wish it weren’t so cold out, it obstructs my star charting. I’m happy to hear you did, Devon. Oh, thanks! Saber is the greatest, really, I was really floored about everything. Who would’ve thought a guy like me would ever be on the radar of someone like her? But here we are. Anyway, I appreciate it. Sure took me long enough. She’s my first.

The snow makes the town look so nice. It’s very comforting, I think I might go out on a walk.

The snow is gorgeous, but unfortunately I’m not a fan of below-freezing temperatures. But, I hope you enjoy your walk. I’d recommend bundling up, it is pretty cold outside.

I can imagine you would be familiar with silence, given your work. I’m not sure I could ever work in such a quiet place. I tend to do poorly when left to my own devices like that, with too much quiet and too much time to think. Lunch would be great, Jonah. Anywhere specific you had in mind?

Yes, I wouldn’t recommend taking a job in a library if silence isn’t something you’re alright with. Personally, I don’t mind being alone with my thoughts, I find I do some of my best soul-searching in those moments. But, it isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. It takes all kinds of kinds, as I’ve heard. It doesn’t really matter to me, Josie. The Shake Shack would work, or if you’d prefer the Derby I’d be alright with that, I haven’t been there in ages.

This place is far too quiet at night. Barely midnight on a Saturday, and these streets are practically deserted. I guess a walk wasn’t the best idea for someone looking for some social interaction. 

I would say I know the feeling, but working in a library for so long I’ve pretty well gotten used to quiet by now. Unfortunately I’ve got plans this evening, but maybe we can meet for lunch sometime, Josie. I need to get out more, I know that for a fact.

Good morning, gorgeous. Are you feeling alright this morning? I’m really glad you’re still here, to be honest. You don’t have to worry about that either. I’m happy to cook something for you, no leaving the bed needed on your part. I just want to say, Saber...Last night was incredible.

Jonah: That means something. I know it.

Jonah: Oh, my-

Jonah: I will absolutely keep that, yes, for sure, no question about that. Remember it? Saber, genuine question here but...How could I possibly forget it? Spoiler alert- I can't. It's impossible.
