Time tells us a story
Unlike any we’ve heard before
A tale so cruel
We fear it be true.
A boy, happy and all,
Walking a path filled with dark
The kind of dark that takes people
And never gives them back.
Time and time again,
Everyone says it’s time to forget
And move on with no regrets,
As though it were easy.
I tell them the same tale,
Over and over again,
In hopes they’d learn that
One day perhaps,
People will figure out that
The cure to this plague of sadness
Is a warm gesture to another
Who clearly needs warmth.
Turning a blind eye,
Only to try to ignore and forget
What we see and what we hear,
In hopes that we won’t be responsible
For the many sins we commit
By not lending a helping hand
To those who need it,
Especially to the saddened.
I tell you now,
If you stop seeing with your eyes
And instead start seeing with your hearts,
Will time finally move again
For those who are tormented
By the mere breath they take?
Or would happiness find its way
To the hearts of the broken?
Now is not the time
To forget and ignore
Those who cry in the night,
And especially not the time to have regrets.
Fear not the night,
For in every darkness
Is a beauty left untold,
Something shining left untouched.
Forget, regret, those words mean nothing
To those who share their happiness
With those who would also
Share their own joy
