Lewis is being a class act. Not getting angry, wiping away the tears quietly with his dad only to come out and congratulate Verstappen and thank his teams despite likely feeling awful inside. And then you have Toto and George and everyone else who cares about him being pissed on his behalf (rightfully so) but doesn't that go to show how Lewis has learned to swallow his anger and disappointment and frustration. That he has learned rather quickly that as a black man if he lost it here today (which again justifiable) the f1 community would have raked him over the coal. So he swallows it down and keeps it to himself and holds his head high and let it all pass him by, all the while knowing if it has been the other way around Verstappen would not have extended him the same courtesy (case in point Jeddah) and no one would have expected it of him, and that breaks my heart more than anything else.

Lemme break something down to you

Lewis had to learn martial arts from the age of six because he was racially abused and wanted a way to defend himself.

Still a child, (8 I think?) he picked up karting and as soon as he appeared on track, a group of adults was saying from the start that he's not going to achieve anything, that he should give up and stop showing there. Lewis was still a very young boy when for the first time he heard from his father the words "Be careful what you're doing, they're watching your every step" (paraphrasing)

So after winning his karting championship, he felt like he wasn't allowed to celebrate on track. He sang "We are the champions" in the car with his dad. From the youngest age he knew that expressing any kind of emotion can be turned against him.

2007 was the first year a black man raced in Formula 1. F1 races are being hosted from 1950.

In 2007, Lewis' first year in Formula 1, he was racially abused at Chinese Grand Prix, by Spanish fans (and that's sadly the only information I've got, I couldn't find any details)

In 2008, at the Circuit de Catalunya, several fans wore blackface.

In 2008 as well, a page named "burst Hamilton's tyre" was created, encouraging fans to "leave nails on the track for Hamilton to run over".

Those were his first two years in Formula 1. Extremely warm welcome, don't you think? Surprisingly enough, Lewis was the only one receiving awful treatment and insults. I wonder why?

Lewis was always open about the racial abuse he experienced from the youngest age, and spoke up about it way before the 'We race as one' campaign and BLM.

In 2020, when he finally gathered the courage to loudly speak up about his rights and the rights of other people and actively support BLM and campaign against racism, he was called a clown who brings unnecessary politics to the sport (let me pass over calling human rights politics). Jackie Steward felt the need to loudly criticize Lewis, saying that there is no racism in Formula 1 and if you're good enough, you will be accepted. The same Jackie Stewart was called the most racist and hostile driver Willy T Ribbs has ever dealt with. Mario Andretti sided with Stewart as well, saying that Lewis created a problem that doesn't exist. Obviously, they are both white.

In Formula 1, there are two big allies to LGBTQ+ community that loudly speak up about the topic - Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Only one of them is widely criticized for it and accused of doing it for 'woke points' and - once again - bringing politics into the sport. I will let you guess by yourself.

After Silverstone 2021 crash, Lewis was denied the right to celebrate his victory. He received racial abuse so severe, Instagram and Facebook needed to step in. Additionally, (if I remember the numbers correctly) 20 000 posts on Reddit had to be taken down and 6 000 got banned. Several teams aired pointless statements that they do not condone racism and racial abuse. There shouldn't be the need to release those statements, as it should be something normal and obvious.

In 2021, Lewis is the only driver being booed on every track, during every session and regardless of his result. At Spa and Zandvoort the booing got so bad he couldn't hear the questions the interviewer asked him.

He's always the one being blamed for every incident that happens, no matter what statement the FIA releases.

Recently, Bernie Ecclestone said that Lewis should retire in honour of Michael Schumacher and prevent himself from beating his record "out of respect".

Now I want you to take a look back and think of any driver who received similar treatment.

I want you to take a look back and think of anyone in F1 being criticized and insulted for every move he makes.

I want you to take a look back and think of any driver who needed fourteen years in the sport to develop enough courage to express how they really feel and what they stand for.

Do you really think people don't want to see the same person win? Or maybe you just hate seeing a successful black man beating every record in the whitest sport on earth?

AMADOU DIALLO while taking out his wallet, 41 shots were fired by four different officers. They were all acquitted.

RENISHA MCBRIDE after an auto accident, she knocked on someone’s door for help. The homeowner was found guilty of second-degree murder.

TAMIR RICE was playing with a toy gun, and was shot by police officer arriving on scene. Officer was not charged.

SEAN BELL was hosting a bachelor party. 50 rounds were fired by police officers who were found not guilty of charges.

WALTER SCOTT was pulled over for brake lights, and was shot in the back by a police officer who pleaded guilty to civil rights violations.

PHILANDO CASTILE was pulled over and told officer he had a legally registered weapon in car. Officer acquitted of all charges.

AIYANA JONES was sleeping and was accidentally shot by an officer in a raid on wrong apartment. Officer cleared of all charges.

TERRENCE CRUTCHER needed help when his vehicle broke down. Was shot by a police officer who was found not guilty of manslaughter.

ALTON STERLING was selling CDs, and was shot at close range while being arrested. No charges filed.

FREDDIE GRAY was beaten to death by officers while being transported in police van. All officers involved were acquitted.

JOHN CRAWFORD was shopping at WalMart, holding a BB gun that was on sale—police officer was not charged for his murder.

MICHAEL BROWN was shot twelve times by an officer, including in the back. No charges filed.

JORDAN DAVIS was killed because he was playing loud music. Shooter found guilty of first-degree murder.

SANDRA BLAND was pulled over for traffic ticket; was tasered and then arrested. Suspicious “suicide” while in jail. No charges.

BOTHAM JEAN was fatally shot in his home, which female officer ¿mistook for her own? (Which I’ll never understand.) Officer found guilty of murder.

OSCAR GRANT was handcuffed and placed face-down, officer then shot him in the back. Officer found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

COREY JONES was waiting by his car which was broken down, and was shot three times by police officer, who was found guilty of murder.

AHMAUD AUBREY was jogging. He was shot by two racist men who claimed they suspected him of burglaries. Both men were charged with murder and aggravated assault.

GEORGE FLOYD was suspected of alleged fraud. He handcuffed and pinned to the ground by an officer’s knee. He begged for mercy and he was ignored.

ERIC GARNER: Stopped for selling cigarettes on a nyc street and choked by a cop in broad daylight. Complications of the stress put on his throat by the hold caused his death; Openly said “I can’t breathe” several times and pretty much died while three other cops watched their compatriot kill a man. Eric was well known for just trying to sell goods as a side hustle and never actually hurt anybody.

DJ HENRY was fatally shot in his car by police officer Aaron Hess in the early morning hours of Oct. 17, 2010. DJ's passengers say they were doing nothing wrong when Hess ran out in front of them in the road. Hess says he only fired because he was in fear for his life. Hess later admitted to lying on multiple occasions after DJ’s death about the shooting.

These were all murders. They were not accidental. All of these innocent people: men, women AND children. Were murdered because they were black. Not because they were violent. Not because they were threatening, but because they were black. Something has to change. We have to MAKE a change. Black lives matter. Black men. Black women. Black children. Non-Binary blacks. I’m really glad you had a positive reaction to the ending because I absolutely did not ngl LOL!!! I had a raging stomachache thinking they were going to part after EVERYTHING. To anonymous, I watched a YouTuber who reacts to The Untamed and on Episode 27 of her reaction, she started talking about her interpretation in the Drama of how Lan Wangji was the first one to fall in love.

Her explanation made so much sense because in the Drama they meet at the entrance and Lan Wangji being Lan Wangji never bothered to glance at anyone except when talked to and when he hears the Jiang Bros talking, he turns to look at them and his eyes lands on Wuxian and they stared at each other until Jiang Cheng interrupted their stare down.

And it makes sense for a love at first sight trope for a drama adaptation, and I’m sure that that’s what the direction of the drama went for.

She explained:

“I knew, obviously. We all knew, we all been knew, we all been here, we all been saw–seen, that Lan Zhan is like head over heels; he’s f*ckin’ in love.

I knew he loved him, I just didn’t know how much until this moment. I didn’t know how much Wei Wuxian meant to him until now. (Pertaining to Episode 27)

He was inlove with Wei Wuxian the moment they met. THE MOMENT THEY MET. And I can prove that.

One of the reasons why I’m convinced that Lan Wangji was the first to catch feelings is because, when they were trying to get into the Cloud Recesses and they couldn’t gain entry was because they lost their invitation and then the Jiang Clan had resorted to finding some sort of spot to camp out.

During the time that Wei Wuxian wasn’t there, Wangji did not have to go back for that family (Jiang Sect), he did not have to go and find them and tell them that they can come inside without the invitation. He didn’t have to do that, but he did. He went out into the forest, looked for them and he was like: ‘you can come inside’ and he didn’t want Wei Wuxian to know that.

Obviously, if you do that, and Wei Wuxian isn’t there and then he finds that his family is gone, he’s going to look for the trail, he’s going to follow the trail and follow like wherever his family is.

Lan Zhan knew that Wei Wuxian was going to try and find them. And that is why when Wei Wuxian snuck into the Cloud Recesses, he was the only one there, waiting for him at the top of the f*ckin’ tower. Waiting for Wei Wuxian to show up.

Sure enough, there he is with his pretty little smile, walking about like: ‘oh my god, are you here to admire the moon, hahahah I’m a bisexual.’

And then they (Wuxian) were finally being reprimanded because Lan Zhan is saying he violated so many of the rules. KNOWING FULL WELL WHAT THE PUNISHMENT FOR THAT WILL BE FOR THE STUDENTS IS TO TRANSCRIBE. TO TRANSCRIBE.

WHO WOULD BE THERE? Who would be there to–to watch him and guard him to make sure that he is doing his transcriptions? LAN ZHAN. That’s why they spent all of those times in the Library Pavilion and whatever, you know, like flirting and non-flirting.

He did it all! And then, so as they are being reprimanded, when Wei Wuxian wanted to clarify who let his family into the Cloud Recesses, and then Zewu Jun was like: ‘Ooh, it was Lan Zhan.’ and Lan Zhan was like: ‘Please don’t, don’t tell him.’

Lan Zhan is the subtlety that Wei Wuxian never had, never learned, never cared for. Lan Zhan is not a panicked gay, he is a subtle gay. He is the rare subtle gay that, yes sometimes he panics, but most of the time he keeps his cool.”

Wei Wuxian’s developing feelings is the word FLEETING. It’s there, just looming, like air that you can’t be bothered with but is actually an essential part of life. Like how his crush to Wangji was not acknowledged as a crush–cause he couldn’t be bothered to put a name to the feeling–but his day is complete when he gets to bother him and has Wangji’s attention on him. 🤧🥺❤️

Though I hate how he degrades himself. And you can see that in the drama. How he always stops himself and always draws a line when he’s with Wangji, we can see that especially after he got out of Burial Mounds, it’s like he’s thinking: “I can’t tarnish the Second Jade.”, “I like him but I’m sure he doesn’t like me back.”, “He shouldn’t get involved with me.” etc of all self depreciation.

AND LAN WANGJI CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. It’s very like him, SUBTLE. You have to look at him closely to see the unraveling. His development is like a simmer, unlike Wuxian–who was boiling and on the surface. His is a slow and gentle simmer and he handled his development so elegantly (not surprising). And it’s all thanks to Wuxian for him to opening up to more profound views of the world than just the 3,500 rules that was embedded in him. I—- 🤧

Also, @catholicjigglypuff the drama ended it as an Open Ending for the viewers to decide the conclusion, since again, censorship. It’s up to us viewers to label them whatever we want and conclude our own ending with Wangji calling out to him and Wuxian smiling when he saw him.

In my opinion, why Wangji let him go and not asked him to stay was because he loved him enough to let him go to explore and find himself. He let him go because he had duties to his Clan and he didn’t want Wuxian to be held in the constraint of his sect if it meant Wuxian would be unhappy (even though he clearly enjoyed the stay in Cloud Recesses when he resurrected)

These two seriously, the most frustrating in the drama is how these will constantly let go of each other even if both of them REALLLY wants to hold on and you just wanna smack them on the back of their heads because they always put the other one above them, and I–hnggg! Just get married already!

Also, if you want a peace of mind and a clean conclusion you can read THIS. I love the depiction the writer showed of Wuxian’s travels as a rogue cultivator and roaming around while still keeping in touch with Wangji until he realizes that after being away from him only made him want Wangji more. It had its comedic scenes from the Juniors, mostly, but how the writer wrote the scene on the mountain where they meet again was 👌 I teared up a bit no lie.
