“Brit Needs a CPAP Machine” COMMISSIONS are OPEN
So, I got diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). You can read more about that here in this post of mine, but for those who don’t wanna, it’s basically a condition where I have obstructed breathing during my sleep. The test said that I stop breathing upwards of five times an hour.
The usual remedy for this is a device called a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine, which uses air pressure generated by a machine, delivered through a tube into a mask that fits over the nose or mouth (as shown). These machines have been lifesavers (literally!) for people with OSA, and though my case isn’t as severe as some others I’ve heard about, it’s still necessary. OSA affects my quality of sleep at night, which leaves me feeling exhausted throughout the day regardless of how long I sleep, which affects my mood (and, hello, that’s already made worse by my Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and chronic migraines), my cognitive abilities (again, made worse already by medications I have to take for aforementioned disorders), and overall makes life more miserable for me.
To get to the point, I’m in need of funds in order to afford the CPAP machine that I so badly need. They cost anywhere between $1,000 and $4,000 without insurance, but with my insurance it’s guesstimated that it’ll end up costing roughly between $250 and $300. Note that this is a guess, we haven’t gotten anything from my insurance saying how much it’ll cost, and we won’t know how much it costs until they send us a bill… which sucks, but what can you do?
Anyway! I’m keeping open my art commissions to try and earn that money.
