How this event works:

1. Look at the calendar and draw, write, craft, or something else creative about the prompt of the day! We have days for the individual Lifers themselves, but also some fun Special Days, too!

2. If you want your work to be shown in this blog (we're going to try to reblog pieces as much as possible), tag this blog ( @liferadayjune ), or tag your post '#liferadayjune' or '#liferadayjune2026'!

3. Keep things PG-13 (no NFWF, unless it is things like injuries, and in that case, make sure to tag it accordingly)! More mature themes will not been shown on this blog so that everyone can enjoy (so if it is triggering at all, then it won't be reblogged here).

Lifer-a-Day June 2026 Day 25 - Past Life

Martyn couldn’t breathe. He couldn't think. Everything was the nausea creeping up from his stomach to the rest of him and the darkness closing in on his vision. He could barely hold himself up, his grip on the ladder threatening to slip away with each little movement that sent a sharp ache through his bones.

It was as if the world around him had fallen away, leaving just him. Just Martyn and this pain and the ladder digging into his palms. Each breath was fire in his lungs, burning him away from the inside out, choking him.

Vertigo hit him like an arrow through the skull as he nearly fell, catching the rung at the last second. Maybe climbing out right away hadn’t been the best idea, he should have waited until the dust settled, both on the ground and on his skin.

But then he would have had to wait surrounded by blood and broken bones and mangled faces. Just the thought made his throat burn and Martyn had to twist as to not vomit all over himself. His ears were ringing, everything was ringing loud.

What was happening to him? Why did it feel like he was caving in on himself? Before he had never gotten light headed at the thought of blood…

Martyn finally made it to the surface and collapsed on the ground, feeling the cool dirt beneath him. Now that he could finally rest, or as close to rest as he could get, other thoughts crept into his mind.

He remembered euphoria flooding through him. He remembered blood tasting so sweet. He remembered not feeling an ounce of pain. He remembered his body feeling other to himself, an extension of a blade. He remembered bliss.

This wasn’t bliss.

This was agony.
