What’s a Sheriff? || SB
“Make your house disappear?” Emma shook her head. “Never mind. No, I’m not going to tell her.” Emma didn’t even know who her mother was to tell her. “Did you want to come with me? We can go see my mother. She can help you get settled here until we know what’s going on.”
Rapunzel hesitated, nervous. “Umm...yeah, I would like to ride along with you.” She smiled up at the older blonde woman. “Just as long as you don’t tell my mom.”

Well she seemed to have relaxed now, which he liked. It was actually very nice to talk to someone who wasn’t scared of him. He found himself relaxing a bit in her presence. “I wouldn’t mind telling you a few of them, but you do seem to have me at a disadvantage,” he told her gently. “You know my name. What should I be calling you?”
Rapunzel looked a little bit nervous, glancing toward the door and fidgeting a little bit before speaking. “My name is Rapunzel, sir. But...please don’t tell my mother that you saw me. She’ll be upset...” She trusted the nice man, and she was sure that he could keep her secret.

“A man named Jefferson.” She replied, softly. “I’ll keep looking. I’ve been searching for years. I’ll never give up on them.”
She bit her lip, thinking about it. “Umm...I don’t know...I’ve never met him I don’t think. But I’d be happy to help you look!”
A princess!? || SB
Jasmine sighed. “But this isn’t my home. I miss Agrabah, my father.” It wasn’t fair. Her freedom shouldn’t have to mean a new life and a new world entirely. “Jafar is the only friend I have here, and I’m not entirely sure he can be classified as a friend.”
She looked up at the princess, curious and interested. “I’ll be your friend if you want, I’ve never had a friend, just my mother.” She wanted to have friends, it was fun to meet new people, she just hoped that her mother wouldn’t mind if she ever found out.

“Regina is the mayor. She’s a former queen and she’s quite skilled in magic. Emma is…well, she’s the love of my life, and she’s also very skilled in magic. Between the two of them, you don’t have to worry about a thing. Plus, there’s my father, who is probably more powerful than both of them combined.”
She blinked, curious and interested. “Wow....my mother can do magic, she’s really good at it. But she mostly just uses it while she brushes my hair.” She smiles at him. “Can you do magic?”

She was new in town? Well that was interesting. He’d probably want to tell Emma about that eventually, as she was the sheriff and all. But for the moment he wanted to talk to someone who wasn’t going to judge him for his reputation and who actually seemed interested in his shop. “Yes, I have several interesting artifacts here. And they all of interesting stories behind them.” He was fishing really, hoping she’d ask for a story or two. Not that he’d ever admit to that.
Rapunzel smiled, approaching the counter, she had forgotten her fear entirely. “Stories? What kind of stories? Will you tell me Mister...” She glanced towards the front of the store and checked the sign. “Gold. Mr. Gold. It’s nice to meet you, sir.” She leaned against the counter, looking up at him, eager to hear what he could tell her. “I love stories.”

Jafar leered over her before straightening up. He couldn’t quite tell if she was absolutely serious or just mad. He’d go with the latter, but the former seemed so much more likely. “You are a daft one as well.”
She blinked at him, confused. “Daft?” She had never heard that term, and she tried to figure out what it meant. There wasn’t really good context. “Do you think I’m crazy?”

“Right,” she nodded slowly. The girl sounded as though she’d been living under a rock. “Is your mother here with you?”
She shakes her head. “No...my mother is trying to make our house disappear. I...snuck out.” She bites her lip. “You’re not going to tell her, right?”

“That’s a very nice name. It’s nice to meet you.” She said. “I take it you’re not from this town? I’m not either. Though, my husband and daughter live here. I’ve been searching for them for quite some time.”” She explained.
“Who are you married to? Maybe I can help you find them!” She perked up, happy to have some way she could help, Rapunzel cared too much about others to leave this poor, beautiful woman to search the huge town for her family alone! That wasn’t right!

Jasmine looked a bit sad. “Somehwere far away from here.” She sai, softly. “I miss it. As for being a princess, well…it’s not…it’s not the greatest. Sometimes I feel trapped. It’s a lot of responsibility. Everyone expecting me to live the way they want me to. Never free to make my own choices.”
Rapunzel frowned. “I used to be trapped. I mean....it was for my own protection, but it’s always been my dream to go outside, and to live. I don’t know where I am now, or what this town is really like, but I’m very happy here, I’m not trapped anymore, maybe you don’t have to be trapped here either.” She hoped that her words would lift Jasmine’s spirits.

“I…I’m not sure who you’ve been talking to, but humans don’t usually have sharp teeth.” He said. “And werewolves and vampires aren’t something you gotta worry about. I mean, yeah, sometimes we have magical creatures attack here but Regina and Emma take care of that. You’re safe here, I promise.”
Rapunzel was very confused, she believed the man, but the way he talked was strange. “Who are Regina and Emma? Do they live in this town too? I just came here recently, I haven’t met many people yet.”

He felt himself relax when he saw how scared the other person was. It was probably rather mean of him in a way, but if she was scared it meant she had no intention of hurting him or doing anything else. And that was what he was worried about constantly now, even if that made him a coward. “It’s alright. I assure you only half the rumors they tell about me are true,” he told her, going to relax the mood a bit but still keep her slightly on edge. Because if she wasn’t scared she might try something. “Is there anything I can help you with?”
Rapunzel tilted her head in confusion. “Rumors? I’m sorry to be rude, but I’ve never heard about you at all. Actually, I’m new in town. I just came in because it looked like you had so many pretty things through the window.” She was absolutely fascinated with all the things he had. Everything from knick knacks to ancient artifacts. The store was a beautiful hodgepodge of new and old.

“You mean you’ve never been in a library?” Belle asked, her eyes widening. “If you love reading, the library can be your wonderland! Please!” she said, waving her hand back toward the stacks. “Take your time. Browse all the books you want. Read all you want!”
Rapunzel’s eyes widened. “All I want?” She looked around at the shelves. She had read the same few books most of her life, occasionally she would get some stimulation when mother gothel would bring something new from far away for her, but overall she didn’t have an extensive library of books she had already read. In fact, all she really had was one shelf full of worn, well-loved books.
“Thank you!” She blinked at the books, having a hard time seeing the spines from all the bundled up enthusiasm.

“I am called Jafar,” he told her. “You’re a very inquisitive one, aren’t you?” He leaned down closer to her. “You are aware that curiosity killed the cat, right?”
She nodded, but paused at his statement. “A cat died? How awful! It’s going to get a proper burial, right? Doesn’t a faithful companion deserve at least that much??” She hated the idea of a poor, defenseless animal dying and never being remembered.

Emma crossed her arms over he breasts, shaking her head. “Sherrif? A sheriff enforces the law, keeps the citizens safe, all of that. You’ve never heard of a sheriff before? Where are you from?”
Rapunzel couldn’t answer the question, she didn’t know where she was from. Mother Gothel didn’t think she needed to know where her tower was located. “I’m from my home, miss. I don’t think there are any laws there, so I’ve never met a Sheriff before. I suppose my mother enforces the rules, those are like laws. So I guess she could be called a sheriff. Perhaps I can make her a badge like yours.”

Priscilla smiled at the young blonde. “Well, thank you. I didn’t do anything, it’s my natural color.” She replied. “You’ve never seen anyone with red hair before?” She then smiled. “My name is Priscilla, what is your name?”
Rapunzel nodded. “No, it’s just my mother and I.” She hesitated, a little bit of fear shocking her system as the woman asked her name. She seemed nice, but what if she just wanted Rapunzel’s hair? “My name is Rapunzel.” She finally answered the question. There was plenty of space to run if the woman tried to attack her.

Jasmine’s eyes widened at the overexcited girl. She had never met anyone with so much energy. “Thank you. And yes, I am.” She said, smiling. “Princess Jasmine of Agrabah.”
Rapunzel’s eyes widened with awe at the admittance. “Wow...where is Agrabah? And what is it like being a princess?” She imagined all the beautiful balls and the fancy food and all the exciting things about princesses that she had dreamed about. “I’ve never met a princess before.”
