STORE UPDATE

This weeks store update is pretty lax on Vita content so I'll auto-summarise

GUACAMELEE IS OUT AND YOU SHOULD GO BUY IT.

IT IS CROSS-BUY AND CROSS-SAVE AND WITH A 20% DISCOUNT FOR PS+ IT IS EVEN MORE AFFORDABLE

There's also Table Mini Golf, an AR game.

And for EU: ZERO ESCAPE VIRTUE'S LAST REWARD IS NOW FREE FOr PS+ SUBSCRIBERS. IT IS EXCELLENT NOW GO.

Muramasa Rebirth, the Vita update of the 2010 Vanillaware Wii game has a release date and a collector's edition.

On June 25th the game will be released in NA, with no EU date yet, being published by Aksys Games.

FIRMWARE UPDATE 2.10

Rejoice! We now have the ability to create folders and organise our icons in a more accessible manner.

Here are the firmware notes from the Playstation blog:

Here’s a look at some of the new enhancements you can expect with software update v.2.10:

Create folders to more easily manage your favorite application icons on the home screen, with up to 10 icons in each folder and a maximum of 100 on the home screen (including icons inside the folders).

Verify which PS Vita card you are using by looking at the home screen’s info bar. You can also save the layout of your home screen icons in the memory card.

Added video support allows you to play videos within the browser (memory card required; some videos are not supported).

New email enhancements allows you to view HTML messages, add multiple email addresses to your contacts, and easily search your messages using the new search feature.

PlayStation Plus members will be able to automatically update PlayStation Mobile format software and upload game save data onto online storage using 3G connection.

New “Mute Automatically” option will mute your PS Vita speakers when your headset is unplugged and pause your music when using the music app.

With the announcement in this months Game Informer of a new game to the Batman Arkham franchise, Batman : Arkham Origins announced for all current consoles and PC to release on October 25, a portable companion has also been announced.

Batman : Arkham Origins Blackgate will be a 2.5D game in the Metroidvania genre, and unlocks from one game will carry over into the console versions, if you have both of them. It will release on the same day as it's console companion, and is being developed by Armature Studio, who were responsible for Metal Gear Solid HD on Vita.

GungHo Online Entertainment is readying Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, a complete reworking of last year’s Ragnarok Odyssey on PS Vita, for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

The game will include a new episode set after the ending of the original game, and all of the downloadable quests from the original will be included, according to Famitsu.

Good news, odyssey fans, and those who still haven't picked up one of the best multiplayer games on Vita!

What "reworking" will mean, we still have to find out, but if they get cross-play, potentially cross-buy, then it's definitely worth a purchase.

The EU Playstation Store has a special event currently on, akin to the 12 Deals of Christmas that recently happened. A number of games are discounted and every 48 hours a special game is put up to 70% off.

Currently that game is Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale and it is 60% off until 11:59pm on the 2nd of April.

Note that this is for the PS3 version. But that version also comes with the Vita version at no extra cost! So if you haven't hopped on it already, go for it!

The offers for Vita are pretty unfortunate, with only one actual Vita game being discounted, the other compatible games being PSP / Mini / PSone games

FINALLY, I can tell you guys! For the last few months, I’ve been doing concept art for a short, retro-pixel-art-style RPG that will be downloadable on the PS Vita. The project is being led by Wolfgang Wozniak with final art and animation being done by the super awesome Jackson Lango. This poster is ~somewhere~ at GDC right now, and I think we should have a few prints available for sale soon. Expect a lot more art posts and information in the coming weeks!
