So I posted this earlier, but tumblr ate it. I made a felony! Took a whole roll of foil, folded it over and over to make a thicc sheet about the size of a piece of paper, formed it into a bag, and covered it in duct tape inside and out.

Possibly went a little overboard but idk how much foil you need so better to be safe than sorry. Tested it at p!nk and it worked. There was even a bra left in the fitting room (never seen that before), so I took its tag rather than the tags from what I brought in.

Also bought a hook, but it hasnt arrived yet. I figure I may as well since I encounter hook tags more than magnet tags and now I can take the tags with me.

Everything fits in a little hip bag and I keep some vitamins in there too so I can lie and say its my meds (cause I feel like a hip bag and a purse looks weird)

But I'm logging in today bc I'm curious about duluth trading company. I didnt even know they had physical stores, but one is coming in near me soon and I wanna know the vibe and the tag type they use.

I'm worried its gonna feel too much like c@bellas and I dont mess with stores where people have guns lol. If anyone has any info it'd be much appreciated. I check this account from my main so I may not reply but any help is awesome

Bad new art lifters

So according to my boss, all michaels will have security towers at the exit by summer of next year. Now some stores already do and the tag was one of those super sticky rfid stickers, but I dont know if some will be located inside packaging such as for carts or cricut machines. If your store is low shrink, take advantage of it while you dont have to worry about tags

This brings me to another topic, retroactively lifting. What I mean by this is for any item you dont think you can reasonably steal, buy instead and then come in again, get the same thing, and go up to the cashier and 'return' it. Now we do have something that triggers a flag if you return to much, but theres an easy work around.

Step 1: pay in cash. Cash purchases are returned as cash and it prevents the computer from knowing its you each time you do it

Step 2: use multiple reward accounts. If you sign up for the rewards program (it's just an email and a phone number. The number does not have to be working, you just need to know it) and use the number when you check out, you can use a phone number instead of a receipt to return things. This method does not require us to enter in your id/drivers license.

By using a different rewards account every so often, theres no way to know that all the returns are going to the same person

The only wrench in your plan would be if your cashier sees you come in empty handed so try to come in with a group. Its not uncommon to see people shopping with returns in their cart as well

uhhhg i’ve been having the worst luck lately. not caught or sussed, just hot topic is being an asshole and they’re actually counting things and taking them from me so like there goes that i guess. the past 3 or 4 times i’ve been there they’ve done this and i don’t feel confident detagging and concealing on the floor. i want anime t shirts....

other than vs and pink, they’re like the only store in the mall to use the magnet tags, r21 and f21 use gators and i’m not strong enough for those. i really wanted to steal pants from ht, but i ended up having to buy them (on the plus side they were bogo at r21 for not too much)

We caught a guy shoplifting today and when my manager called for lp to the office (our best scare tactic), he actually laughed, dropped his stuff and left. Idk if he put anything in his backpack tho

Istg tho these people suck at lifting. I greeted him when he came in and just knew from how he looked he was going to steal. There's also another lady who I think stole, she left a cart full of stuff up front and told me she had to get her wallet from the car, but never came back. If she just left it somewhere else or didnt have a dummy cart at all, i never would've sussed her

like i know they autocharge until you buy it but what if you use a gift card with just enough on there to rent it? or what if you return the case but not the disc? i saw a reddit thread and they said they printed paper discs and put them in the case. do you have to though? cause i don’t have a printer anymore

Does anyone have jo ann tips? Specifically for the by the yard cut fabric, I need a yard or two of fur and I know that gets pricy quick even with coupons.

Is it as simple as blind spot conceal and book it, or are there other factors to consider? My main concern is communication with the cashier saying I'm coming up with fabric and the fabric cutter seeing me without the fabric they gave me.

I know every store is different, but any info especially from current or former employees would be very helpful

lemme tell u bout dis s c a m of a lifetime.

i decided to go to mîcháels today— mostly in search of some art supplies, but i’ve been eyeing this storage cart for a while. i had it in the back of my mind that i could possibly cop one.

i walked in and saw that there was only 2 people working, both distracted. still, the registers are next to the doors.

i went to the shopping carts, got one, and looked around a little. i got to where they keep these storage units and put one in my cart. i also got some new fabër-castêlls and mïcrøn pens whilst walking around after this. i concea/ed in a blind spot, but i also did something else; i pulled out an old receipt.

i get to the front of the store with the thing in my cart and i pick up the receipt, standing by the registers, regardless of the fact that nobody has noticed me. i pretend to be waiting, even though there wasn’t anyone checking anyone out and one employee was messing with a broken register trying to fix it. i then pretended to be frustrated, looked at my receipt, and then just grabbed the box and walked out (as if i was tryin to return the unit and just decided to walk away).

can’t say i’m not freaked out, because it was kind of bold, but with no cameras and non attentive SAs, i think i’m ok. and i have a cool new art cart now :))

Nice! Using an old receipt is great even if there is someone at the register. The only way we can give a full refund is with your receipt or rewards number, so you can use an old reciept and try to return the thing you want. When they say its not on the receipt and we can only give partial credit, you can take it and say you'll double check at home/the car/whatever. This happens a lot so its not sus. Just make sure you spend a while in the store so we wont remember if you came in with anything or not

Well its a small haul but a small haul is better than getting risky and getting caught. 8.50 saved. Claire's would have been better if it were a little less busy. There was even an ear piercing going on and everything, but there were several families with multiple people each. So while employees weren't an issue, customers were.

The manager wasnt working at hot topic but it was so empty I didnt try anything. Same with bbw and i know they cs you to death if you're the only one there

But i did get a cute t and skirt for 10 at r21 on clearance, saved 17. And the skirt is highwaisted so I can finally wear crop tops

I know its an easy store, but the more inside knowledge the better, right?

So my store had so much shrink (idr the amount) we are switching to the company's high risk program. Things like employee bags, purses, and vests being checked before and after their shift. We're also going to have our district's lp guy in once a month and he'll be helping employees to prevent lifting

Notice I say prevent. My manager said we cannot do anything to stop someone from stealing, even if we know they did it. All we can do is intimidate them into ditching with good customer service like greeting everyone in high risk aisles, offering people baskets or carts, and stuff like that. Managers can also go over the intercom to say stuff like "so and so to the loss prevention office immediately" (we don't have an lp office and if an employee actually needed to go to the office, they'd say it on the headset.)

So basically, while you shouldn't be sloppy or get caught (cause not everyone will follow the rules), there's really not a whole hell of a lot we can do about it other than intimidation and moving high risk item like cameras to the office so there's no way a customer would be able to take one.

I know I stole a camera, but there were apparently quite a few missing so I wonder if that was also internal or not... The lock up cage is hella loud when you open it

But yeah that's about it. Also, even with us having high shrink, no ones losing hours or money because of it so it doesn't hurt us if you don't wanna pay 15 dollars for a fucking paintbrush

Oof well I havent been on here in a while. I think its just cause tallying totals is a pain and my everyday thefts are just like canned coffee lol. Nothin super cool, tho I did get an all might sweatshirt and had to steal the hanger too lol. I really love stealing all might stuff bc irony. Also I love all might

But I got some gossip I guess, idk if it will be of used to anyone, but I guess our mich@els has gotten worse with shrink so now we're having to do bag checks (for employees, not customers) after we clock off (but I always steal after work so...). Idk I'll play it by ear and lay off for a bit. Not too much tho, if shrink goes down a lot after this, they'll know its because of internal theft

Also if you ever see a little blue shield with an SH on it, we're suppose to check these aisles as we're going through the store bc they're high shrink aisles

None of that does any good if you move what you want from there to a different aisle to conceal but okay
