GENERAL PSA to everyone this year (especially relevant in the rp community) to just not give a shit. a simple concept, but something that so many people haven’t truly grasped.
roleplaying is a hobby, a stress-reliever, something you do for FUN. if it isn’t any of these things to you, i’d suggest evaluating your situation and changing things up a bit for your own enjoyment. along that vein, you have to remember that everyone else is doing it for fun, too, and thus NOBODY IS ENTITLED TO ANOTHER’S TIME.
come on, we’re pretending to be fictional characters behind a computer screen. once you step away from your keyboard, none of this matters. WE ALL HAVE LIVES THAT TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER EVERYTHING ELSE. in this realm of roleplaying, a person’s time and effort in putting in replies and whatnot is not inherently owed to another.
repeat after me: YOU DO NOT OWE ANYBODY ANYTHING. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO WHAT SOMEONE ELSE CAN OFFER.
and even if there’s some sort of silent agreement between two people about replies or whatever, you have to remember that people have lives. they have friends, families, jobs, education, very significant things that they must tend to to keep their wellbeing. self-care is the top priority — you have to take care of yourself first before you even consider catering to someone else.
so really, if you think someone is taking WAY too long with your thread and you feel like they owe you something, take a step back. re-evaluate. DECIDE TO NOT GIVE A SHIT. similarly, if you feel guilty for taking too long with a thread/for not having muse, take a step back and look at your priorities. DECIDE TO NOT GIVE A SHIT.
again, you do not owe anybody on this website a single thing. nor are you entitled to what they can offer.
be chill, be considerate of both yours and other people’s priorities.
