Que Sera, Sera is finished being translated on Mangazuki (excluding afterword)

Mangazuki has finally finished translating Que Sera, Sera and the final chapter is out and translated. They switched their site so the last 4 chapters can be read here.

They haven’t translated the author’s afterword and she lays down her ideas about their future which could be the foundation of a sequel. Essentially, Ran has a little Brother with a huge imagination and has a cousin (Sun Gyeong and Duk Jin’s son) and meets the son of Dong Jin and Yenipang’s daughter in school.

It’s hard to say goodbye to a series you love and I’m going to miss seeing Joon, Hani, and Ran. But I’m thankful the author gave them a happy (for now) after all the crap they had to deal with in their own lives. The series kept me entertained through plenty of hard times so I’m just happy that I got to experience all of it.

Mangazuki is nearly finished translating Que Sera, Sera.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted something here for anybody that still follows this blog. I just wanted to let you all know that the site Mangazuki is going to finish translating Que Sera, Sera relatively soon. It should be finished around Mid-October and they just released chapter 60. They should also be translating the author’s post finale comments about the status of each family which I never told you about :P

Here’s what I have for the Final chapter summary. Thanks to AlienD everything has been fixed and translated. On a sidenote, thanks to everybody who read my translations all this time and gave me their gratitude since that provided me with the support to keep going. 

Chapter begins at the end of the last one with Hani telling Joon she wants to have a wedding with Joon saying what? Duk Jin comes in with iced coffee and apologizes for making them work like this and promises to help them. Hani tells him she’s going to leave early. Duk Jin asks what’s going on and Joon asks where is she going? Hani says she’ll tell him when she gets home so take care of Ran in the meantime. Hani thinks it doesn’t need to be fancy as long as they can be precious to each other at this moment.

Hani’s covering Joon’s eyes to surprise him and Joon has no idea where he’s taking her. Hani wants to show him before Ran wakes up. Hani let’s go of Joon’s eyes and it turns out she bought (or rented) a camper. Hani’s plan is that she wants to have their wedding on the road and she even got 2 weeks’ of vacation time for this. She flashes back to when she’s shopping for wedding dresses earlier that day. She’s talking to Duk Jin on the phone saying that she hasn’t had a lot of time off recently like Duk Jin had and hoped that she could take a vacation? Duk Jin allows it and says he’ll delay the moving date. He asks if he and Sun Gyeong could come as well while Hani points out it’d be weird for the employer and employee to have a vacation together. She finds the dress she wants and says that this is going to be her sabbatical. She reveals that she bought a wedding dress, a tuxedo, and a dress for Ran saying that this will be their wedding. Hani asks Joon what he thinks and Joon says that she shouldn’t ask because it must have been hard preparing this all by herself and tells her he likes this idea the best calling Hani his bride as they kiss.

They left the next day on their “Wedding Road trip” and decided to go wherever they wanted without purpose in the time that they had. In the camper, Joon asks if she wants him to drive now and if they could change? Hani says no and she’ll tell him if it gets too hard for her and says *let’s go* with Ran repeating what she said. When they got hungry, they stopped to eat at a mall on the roadside and the scenery outside the window made it a pretty place to eat. They took a few pictures at a warm, windy place (with a stupid selfie stick). Ran wanted to take a picture but it turned out bad while the next one Joon did turned out great. Hani points out that their wedding photo book was completely filled. Some days it rained, some days they ran out of gas, and some days they got caught in clogged traffic. But for other days, the night sky was filled with stars. Hani asks Joon if he’s tired while Joon asks if she wants to go back? Hani says no and that he can *sleep if he’s tired*. They all fell asleep together looking at the stars.

At the end of their wedding road trip, there was sand instead of a red carpet. Joon and Ran are excited to see the sea while Hani is taking photos. She says that their wedding that felt like it’d never end, with a dazzling gleam over the sea, was slowly coming to the finale. Joon and Hani are sitting on the beach in their wedding attire. Hani says that Ran fell asleep after putting on her dress. Joon says their daughter is such a good girl and because of her, they can spend a lovely time together. Joon raises his wine glass and asks her the wedding question (whether we are happy or sad, tired and want to give up, will you join with me until death due us part?) Hani’s silent and Joon asks why and she says it’s because of him. Joon’s confused and she says that the promise isn’t important since you can get divorced if you’re married. Joon asks what is important and Hani says that what’s important is that they’re together now and isn’t that a family? Joon’s touched by her words and rephrases his question by asking how long does she want to be together with him? They clink their glasses and she says forever. Joon asks if she can say she loves him and Hani asks if he didn’t hear what she told him before? Joon then asks if she heard what he told her and she said yes she did and they kiss on the beach. Ran wakes up crying because she apparently peed her pants in her sleep and ruined her pretty dress (she really needs to fix that habit). They notice she’s awake and make a bet that whoever gets to Ran last has to handwash her dress. They race over to her and try to get Ran to come to one of them, but it just confuses her.

The story ends with a photo of Hani, Joon, and Ran in their wedding outfits. The author thanks everybody for their support. Also, it looks like she has an announcement later in the week. 

It was great to see a happy ending for this family. While I would have loved to see them have another kid, my predictions hardly ever came true with this story. Hani’s idea of a wedding road trip felt weird, but it matches the tone of the story in that their relationship went against all of the established customs around them. They had a kid due to a one night stand, dated 4 years later, and then eloped. And it felt as though Hani didn’t want a regular Korean wedding since that would mean inviting dozens if not hundreds of random people and getting stressed out from preparations. Whereas with this road trip wedding, everything would be comparatively cheap and the focus would be solely on them and not worrying about what others thought. 

This was such a great and heartwarming story and while I’d love to see a sequel, I hope to support the author in whatever she chooses to write about next.

Why I love the story so much

For everybody that didn’t see the notices I’ve put out, the story is going to end this weekend when the 70th chapter gets released. I do plan on translating like usual. However, there will be a delay because the soup kitchen is this weekend. Also, the site with the high quality raw images that I had linked to in the past has apparently been shut down for good so I’ll have to use my other method of getting pictures for everybody who can’t get access to Lezhin. 

Anyway, I wanted to share with everybody here why I love this series so much to the point that it made me want to do translations summaries. I bet like most people, I saw the promotional image and thought that it would be another sex comedy. I ended up getting drawn in by how realistic and relatable the characters were. Hani was a girl who had a tendency to splurge her earnings, liked to be independent, and didn’t want to worry about anything. Joon was the exact opposite by being incredibly frugal due to not wanting to live off his sister who was already acting like his Mom at that point so that she wouldn’t tiptoe around his brother in law to get more money. Joon also planned to have all of his debts paid off when he got married and wanted to be a good father. 

The author did a great job at making these characters sympathetic when their problems started to take root. Hani’s unexpected pregnancy and the costs of raising a child terrified her and it was hard for her to figure out what to do and whether she should keep the baby? It’s the challenge that every new single mother faces and it’s one that always makes you judged by society for not being prepared or married. Fortunately, Sun Gyeong stepped up to make sure Hani and Ran were taken care of and her parents started secretly sending her money to support her after their initial shock wore off. 

It looked like Joon wasn’t going to have many problems when he got his job in China besides not knowing he was going to be a Dad. But everything went downhill when the douchebag MD acted petty by cutting off Joon’s company to his TV market show over Yenipang. That indirectly set in motion the events that caused Joon’s testicle to rupture and nearly rendered him infertile. I felt like Joon’s life was such a parallel to myself and other millennials. Joon thought  focusing on the future and not getting sidetracked by dating would be the key to long lasting happiness. But all of the time and effort put into getting a job and planning ahead went down the drain and Joon had virtually nothing to show for it. The unfortunate truth is that the old methods of working hard everyday don’t matter as much anymore as your connections do in today’s world. Both Hani and Joon managed to get their current jobs from either being best friends or related to Sun Gyeong and Duk Jin. It goes to show that you need to try and enjoy your life and not solely slave away working because you have no idea if something could go wrong and ruin everything you planned. So you should try to take the initiative in life if you want to have real happiness. It’s the lesson the Dragon God gave to Joon in his dreams and he took the initiative by kissing Hani and declaring his feelings for her. 

Even some of the most unpopular decisions the characters made had good reasons behind their actions and it really helped that the author was great at giving a good backstory for these people. Hani didn’t tell Joon he was Ran’s father because she didn’t want to drop a kid in his lap when he was just starting his adult life which could have ruined everything he was planning ahead for. She also didn’t want to repeat her parents’ mistake of getting married solely out of obligation to their baby which made them miserable together and caused them to get divorced when she went off to college. It can also be inferred that she didn’t want Ran to have the same emotional problems she had of thinking she was a burden keeping together two people that didn’t love each other. Sun Gyeong’s laser focus on Joon’s success was due to guilt over using money her father set aside for her that could have been used for his cancer surgery. So she completely dedicated herself to making Joon’s life great despite not realizing what he really wanted.  

Fortunately, the moral of the story is that even though unplanned and unexpected accidents happen in your life, that doesn’t mean you can’t find happiness after they happen. Ran’s conception was the definition of unplanned, yet she turned out to be the sweetest bundle of joy that any parent could hope for. She was always trying to be understanding even though it was hard to not have her parents together at first. Joon turned out to still be fertile and his groin pan was mental more than anything else. And even though Joon broke his leg saving Sun Gyeong and Ran, the event brought him and Hani closer which made Hani finally realize that she wanted to marry Joon. 

If there are any criticisms I have for the story, it’s that there wasn’t a bigger cast of characters. Outside of our main family and Joon’s new in-laws, there weren’t too many other people that got to be included in everything that happened. The world felt ridiculously small to the point that Sun Gyeong should have easily figured out who was Ran’s father sooner given the lack of side characters in this story. The only exceptions would have to be Yenipang and Dong Jin who were mainly there to be a side romantic interest for the main characters. It would have been great to see Joon have another guy friend to hang out with whom he could share his frustrations. Also, I was disappointed that the latest chapter had Sun Gyeong get pregnant instead of adopting. It would have been great to see the author show support for adopting children that aren’t related by blood in which there is a stigma against in Asian cultures right now. 

Regardless of any minor complaints, Que Sera, Sera has been one of the best heartwarming and relatable love stories that I’ve seen in years. I actually loved it to the point that I sent a tweet to the author about how much I loved the story and got a reply back from her! It was a great ride while it lasted and while I’m sad to see it go, it’s great to see everybody in this story finding their own happiness after everything that happened to them. I’m hoping the author will continue writing great stories.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 69 summary

I know a lot of you have been waiting, but I haven’t finished everything yet. I have about half done now and I’ll finish it up later. And I’ll try to post screenshots again. So refresh throughout the day to see updates.

Chapter starts at the end of the last one with Joon seeing that Yenipang is with the K Drama star. The news article says that Yenipang rejected his advances at first and told him to come back when he learned Chinese. Then she started to fall for him after he wrote her a love letter in Chinese. The article says that the relationship caused a huge stir in the international media. Joon says that Yenipang kept this relationship a secret from him, but he thanks God that she found a better man. Hani learns about it and she wonders if this is really the Yenipang they know and Joon points out that she’s really popular in China, but even she couldn’t compare to Son Joon Ki’s fame. Hani asks if he regrets letting go of Yenipang since she’s in the league of dating a celebrity like Son Joon Ki? Joon gloats that he’s an even better man since a girl like that managed to fall in love with him. Hani claims he’s acting overconfident and Joon says how great SHE must be for a guy like him to fall in love with her? Hani says there’s no point in discussing it and they kiss.  They start acting all lovey dovey and Ran wants to be kissed too so Joon obliges (he calls himself a kissing monster to her).

Hani gets a call from Duk Jin while they’re travelling. He’s trying to tell her that something happened to Sun Gyeong which makes Hani really worried and she asks what’s happening to her? Duk Jin tells her that Sun Gyeong is pregnant which surprises both Hani and Joon. Hani asks if Sun Gyeong is really going to have a child and Joon congratulates them. Duk Jin is passing the phone off to Sun Gyeong and Hani congratulates her from the bottom of her heart. Hani then asks how and when did this happen? Sun Gyeong says that she hasn’t been to the hospital yet, but she’s taken multiple pregnancy tests and they all came back positive. Joon tells Ran that she’s going to have a cousin. Hani tells Sun Gyeong that she’s so proud of her and *if she’s doing okay while on the trip?* Sun Gyeong says that she’s comfortable and she’s eating well and says that she can’t believe an unexpected miracle happened to her.  Hani tells her that she’s so happy for her and that she’ll give the phone to Joon. Sun Gyeong tells her to wait a second and that she needs to tell her something. Hani asks if she needs anything? Sun Gyeong tells her that she wants her to listen to what she’s going to say. Sun Gyeong tells Hani that she was out of her mind when she kidnapped Ran which surprises Hani. *Sun Gyeong says that she hasn’t been able to say this until now* in that she never once pictured that her and Joon would end up together. But now she thinks that things have worked out pretty great for them and she hopes that they’ll be happy in the future and apologizes to her. Hani says they’re not strangers.

Hani and Joon are at Hani’s Mom’s house and she’s surprised that Sun Gyeong is pregnant. She’s even more surprised that she didn’t need invitro fertilization for it to happen, but she says the early months of pregnancy are the riskiest. Joon says Sun Gyeong will be alright since she’s being pampered right now with Hani’s dad saying that’s good. Hani’s Mom asks what about the two of them? Joon and Hani are confused and Hani’s Mom asks if they’re just going to have a marriage license and not have a wedding? Hani’s Dad offers to help with costs, but Hani says that they’ll have it later and they’ll take care of it. Joon says they’ll try and do what they can with their own strength. Hani then teases if they should be having another wedding to celebrate her parents reuniting? Her Mom gets embarrassed and claims they’re sleeping in separate rooms and they’re too busy to even see each other that often. Her Dad says he’s just coming over to see Ran’s photos. Joon teases that if that was the case, her Dad should just get a new phone already. Her dad gets angry saying he should be helping him and Joon says he’ll break his cellphone. Hani laughs while her Mom is embarrassed.

The leaves turned yellow and Sun Gyeong ended up getting bad morning sickness and they had to return home a month later. They planned to have a longer trip but life doesn’t always go as planned. While they were travelling, Duk Jin signed a MOU with a publisher in Angouleme, France. Duk Jin is planning on digitizing and creating their own service to sell them online (essentially, he wants to create Lezhin). He plans an alliance with the French company for massive amount of translating and editing. Hani is getting promoted to Design team leader and she’ll have staff working for her which she’s amazed by. Joon is shaking Duk Jin and tells her that’s great. Duk Jin called him a regular employee saying that he has an official title now and that Joon should get one more person for his group. After Duk Jin says things will get busier, Joon asks why is Hani getting promoted and not him considering it’s a family business? Duk Jin tells him that even though she’s a contractor, she’s still worked here much longer than him. If he wants a promotion, he should start working harder. Of course, Hani’s getting a bigger salary so he should treat her with respect. Joon reluctantly accepts and Hani asks him if he knows how much she loves him? Duk Jin says of course and that he’s worthy of love. (Does he not realize all the stuff Joon’s been doing for the company while he was travelling? Give him an effin raise!!)

They’re moving to a new office in May. Joon’s carrying boxes and is frustrated that Duk Jin is trying to make them work like slaves. Joon tells Hani to take it easy while Hani says that she’s fine and she tells Joon to rest or else he’ll get sick. Hani spots The Next Door Neighbor book they published and forgot the ending so she reads through it.

(I gave them nicknames of 4 Eyes, DSG, and Old Lady) 4 Eyes says that it’s the first time he’s been in VIP on a plane and can’t believe they’re going on their Honeymoon. DSG apologizes for leaving like he did before. An Old lady across from them motions to them and asks if DSG is a movie star since she feels like she’s seen his face a lot before? 4 Eyes thinks that they’re busted while DSG claims he just resembles one. The old lady says he’s handsome just like a famous movie star while DSG claims he gets that a lot. Old Lady says this is her first time travelling abroad and asks where the 2 handsome bachelors are going. DSG says they are on their honeymoon and 4 Eyes can’t believe he said it out loud. Old Lady says that’s nice and starts talking about doing whatever it takes to find your path. She’s talking about how paths can have intersections, be straight, or rough like gravel. But you shouldn’t try too hard if that’s the case. And if the path in front of you is foggy and it’s hard to see, don’t worry and just take things slowly step by step. Both of them are affected by her words and she says not to give up because once the fog is lifted, you might have already arrived at your destination.

The book ends with a message that happiness is open to the person you’re with in the moment (kinda hard to translate) The story has an effect on Hani and she tells Joon she wants to have a wedding which surprises Joon.

I’m sorry for the larger than usual amount of likely inaccuracies in this chapter and hopefully I can clear everything up by tomorrow. But here are all the main events

Sun Gyeong miraculously got pregnant and everybody’s happy for her. Sun Gyeong apologizes to Hani for kidnapping Ran along with everything else she’s done and tells Hani that she hopes she and Joon can be happy together. Duk Jin is back and they’re moving to a new office for a huge expansion. Hani is getting promoted but Joon apparently isn’t. After reading the book she translated again, Hani decides that she wants to have a wedding with Joon.

The author confirmed on her blog that the next chapter is the final one. I’m likely going to be late with the translations since next week is Soup Kitchen week so please bare with me. 

For anybody that thinks that it’s a deus ex machina that Sun Gyeong got pregnant despite her proclaiming she was sterile, there is an explanation. Her main problem was that one of her fallopian tubes was blocked, but the other one was likely fine. If her egg came out of that one, then it was likely that she could conceive a child. Also, the author replied to me on twitter!

Que Sera Sera Chapter 68 summary

First off, Chapter 49 has finally been scanlated here. https://mangazuki.co/read/Que-Sera-Sera/49 James isn’t typesetting or editing now and I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed in the new guy’s quality because none of the white sfx is translated at all. The reason I’m disappointed is because the author for this series uses it much more frequently than other authors and so something good could end up getting left out. I’m trying to get in contact with the new guy about this who’s apparently named Adam.

Anyway, here’s the summary. Again I’m not fluent in Korean and I’m relying on auto translate. Everything has been fixed thanks to AlienD. 

Chapter starts at the end of the last one with Joon saying that he wanted to tell Hani something when he thought he was going to die. It was that he was glad to die having loved her. Hani gets a bit choked up and Joon grabs her hand. Hani thinks to herself that from now on, she won’t be greedy and she doesn’t want anything else except to be by Joon’s side. Joon tells her he loves her which makes Hani teary eyed. Hani thinks that she realized something when Joon had his accident which was how much she would have regretted it if he was gone. Hani tells Joon that she wants to get married which surprises Joon and Hani proposes to him. Joon asks why is she making him cry and she’s embarrassing him? They kiss and Joon thinks that it’s okay to cry as long as he can laugh with her. 

Chapter is called Together with you

A month passes and Ran is narrating now (everything in hearts is what Ran’s saying) and she says that her name is Mo Ran. She says that her Dad left the hospital after a month passed. She then says her parents were late to pick her up from daycare that day because they went to the marriage registration office. Joon and Hani eloped and they’re officially married now. Joon asks Hani if she really doesn’t want a wedding and Hani says they can do it later because how can they afford a wedding right now? (Korean weddings are notoriously expensive. I read one estimate put the average costs at around $100,000) Joon says they need to pick up Ran from daycare before heading back to the office and he says to Hani “Let’s go, Honey” which embarrasses her. He asks if she prefers to be called baby and she tells him to die.

Since they got married, Ran’s name changed from Mo Ran to Kang Mo Ran (for anybody that forgot, Kang is Joon’s last/family name). She says that her parents are calling each other weird names now (honey, LMAO).  Hani tells Joon that he grinds his teeth in his sleep which Joon says explains why his jaw hurts in the morning. He tells Hani that she farted in her sleep which really embarrasses her. She tries to deny it and blames Ran and Ran claims it wasn’t her. Ran writes down that her Mom’s a liar and that it really wasn’t her. Then she talks about whenever they fight and they always ask her a question she hates.  Hani throws a pillow at Joon telling him to go sleep on the second floor for being lazy and Joon says first come first serve. Joon tells Ran to come sleep with them and Hani yells at Ran who does she love more, her Mom or her Dad? Ran cries saying she hates both of them and they realize they went overboard. Ran says that her Dad keeps asking her mom something and Joon keeps asking Hani now and Hani keeps saying no. and Ran says that she’s awake with Joon saying that good children should go to sleep early. (I’m pretty sure Joon wants to have sex, but there’s never a good time and Ran doesn’t understand what’s going on.)

Another month passes and Sun Gyeong and Duk Jin finally leave on their huge trip (with the biggest sunglasses imaginable) and Sun Gyeong promises to buy Ran a gift while everybody says farewell (no idea if Duk Jin is trying to make a Terminator reference with those shades?). Ran talks about how her Aunt (She’s trying to call her Gomo now which means Paternal Aunt instead of Emo which meant Maternal Aunt) is going to buy her a present. But Santa will be getting her a present first because Christmas is coming up. The family is food shopping and Joon asks Ran what type of cake she likes? Hani thinks that she needs a bottle of champagne when she spots Dong Jin and his ex-wife Hi Ju together. Hani says that she keeps seeing them together and thinks it’s great that they’re together again. Joon sees that Dong Jin is on a date and wonders if they should say hi while Hani tells him to just leave them be. Ran heard that Santa doesn’t give presents to kids who cry or pout. She asks her Dad where’s Santa and Joon says he’s probably stuck in traffic. Ran promises to be a good kid for the year.

In the new year, Joon has gotten a lot busier and is making video calls with Duk Jin every morning as part of his new day job (pretty sure it was the one Duk Jin offered him in chapter 53). Joon says he needs to go to the print shop while Hani tells him not to forget his lunch.  Joon’s gotten busier with having to attend meetings with salespeople and seminars, but he always picks up Ran from daycare after work. And he’s also taking classes at a school he wanted to go to before. The two of them split the house work and child care every day with it being Hani’s turn that day. On his off days, Joon listens to University lectures online. Joon’s about to take a break and play with Ran for a little while when he sees Yenipang’s name on the list of rising search terms. He clicks on it and it says she’s with the star of the K Drama.

We’ve only got 2 chapters left now and it looks like we’re getting a happy ending!

Chapter 62 summary

I know this is out of order so here’s the reason why. When that chapter came out, I was helping at the Soup Kitchen and a fluent Korean speaker took over translating. I was able to get my old translation summaries back since I could access my old Disqus posts. But since somebody else wrote it and broke it up into pieces, I couldn’t get it back since the Raw site on YoManga has shut down. So I’m writing this summary from memory. 

Sun Gyeong can’t believe the money she found in her Dad’s checkbook. 

After a while, she talks to her Dad and tells him she used the money to pay for her college tuition which leaves her Dad surprised. Sun Gyeong thinks that he was only going to use the money for Joon who won’t graduate for years and that he doesn’t care about his daughter and starts crying a bit. Her Dad says it’s okay and that he wanted her to use the money anyway. He has a coughing fit which he dismisses as a cold. Sun Gyeong promises that she’ll pay him back while he heads inside. 

Sun Gyeong thinks that moment was the last time she saw her Dad. It turns out that while she and Hani were enjoying their college life, her Dad was in the last stages of cancer (likely liver since he was an alcoholic). The money could have been used on surgery to help him, but he chose to forego it so that Sun Gyeong could go to college and plan for her future. Joon knew about it, but his Dad made him promise not to tell her since his future rested on his sister’s success. After his funeral, Sun Gyeong discovers the letter her Dad wrote in the previous chapter and is inconsolable. Her Dad wrote that he was sorry for being a terrible father and to use the money to have a good future for herself. He also requested that she’d look after Joon so that he would graduate, be successful, find a woman he loves, and have a happy family so that he’ll be a better father than he was. Sun Gyeong believes that she killed her father by taking his money for his surgery while Hani’s Dad tries to tell her that wasn’t the case because her Dad planned to let her have the money all along. Sun Gyeong shouts why did they keep this hidden from her and cries out for her Dad. 

Back in the present, Sun Gyeong claims that even though she had no real good memories with her Dad back then, she ended up forgetting all of the bad times while the few good ones became clear and vivid. She gave her all to fulfill her Dad’s request that Joon would be successful. But she’s furious at Joon for being Ran’s Dad after everything she sacrificed for him to be successful and he ruined it with an impulsive action. She’s also furious at Hani since she knew all about her vulnerabilities and aspirations for Joon. That’s why she thinks she can’t forgive them.

Back at Hani’s parents house; Joon, Ran, and Hani’s Dad are making rice cakes. Hani’s Dad asks when does Joon plan on marrying Hani and Joon says he hopes to do it soon. Joon then teases Hani’s Dad saying that he was just using the excuse of a broken phone and looking at Ran’s pictures to spend time with Hani’s Mom. Hani’s Dad embarrassingly denies it and claims his phone works fine, but Joon points out that his phone is broken and the screen is shattered. Hani’s Dad tells him not to insult his Father-in-Law and Joon accidentally breaks the ear off of Ran’s bunny Rice cake. 

Hani asks her Mom if she’s going to keep living with Dad? Her Mom says that they’ll probably do it to save on the gas bill this winter. Hani thinks that her old romantic views of marriage are outdated and her Mom says that there’s nothing to marriage except living together and being there for each other when needed. Hani asks if she wants her to get married and her Mom says of course she does. Even though they were surprised that Joon was the father, they have no reason to reject them being together. She’s just worried about Sun Gyeong’s reaction. Hani tells her she already knows and her Mom asks if she wants her to talk to her and calm Sun Gyeong down? Hani tells her no and asks if she has to get married and her Mom asks why and if she doesn’t like Joon? Hani says that she does like him and her Mom asks what’s the problem then and she’s sorry if she screwed up her views about marriage. Hani is worried that the relationship between them will change if they get married. Her Mom says that if he’s bad, divorce him. If he’s not, keep living with him and asks when did she become a coward and Hani doesn’t know. Her Mom says that everything is in front of her like a well cooked meal and that all she has to do is take it. Then her Mom goes inside to heat up dumplings. 

Hani’s by herself and feels like she’s being pushed around regarding what she should do and doesn’t know what she wants to do? She sees the Rosemary plants she bought when she decided she was going to keep Ran and sees that they’ve grown more. She thinks back that she moved them to her parent’s house because Ran kept knocking the pots over when she was learning how to walk. Hani decides that the thing she wants the most is living without forgetting who she is.

Chapter starts at the end of the last one with Joon claiming he wants to hang on to Hani and Ran with Sun Gyeong being dumbfounded. Hani is confused by what Joon’s saying and Joon just shushes her. Duk Jin thinks his bro-in-law will be angry. He sees Sun Gyeong leaving and says that this is good timing so he grabs her and tells her he needs to give her something.

They’re in the parking garage and Duk Jin hands her a ledger. She asks what it is and he says it’s the records of all the money she’s taken out of the safe. Sun Gyeong is shocked at this and Duk Jin says she’s a coward for only taking small amounts. Sun Gyeong is surprised all of her thefts were recorded and asks how did he know every time it happened and why did he just leave it all alone? Duk Jin says that he knew that she was only using it for Joon’s school fees, but he wants to ask her why didn’t she just ask for the money in the first place? Sun Gyeong asks if he really wants to make her say it aloud? It’s because she felt so guilty that she was infertile and couldn’t have a child with him. So she didn’t know how she could look at him and ask him to pay for Joon’s college fees. She says that Joon was busy working multiple temp jobs and says that she knows he doesn’t want kids. Duk Jin says that it wasn’t that he didn’t want a child, he just didn’t want her stressing out over it.  Then he asks her what did she think he saw when he looked at ledger of the money she stole? He says that she needs the money more than him. He says that he was wondering if she even loved him and if she would even looked at him? Sun Gyeong asks what’s he talking about? She asks what does that make her because she always lived in anxiety, trying to support his work and she gave her life just trying to do this!  Duk Jin tells her to listen and that he should be the one trying harder because he loves her and wants her affection. He said he felt that way since they’re first date and was jealous of the love she had with her brother since he grew up alone. He wanted to be able to get that affection from her which is why he proposed.

Duk Jin gives her an envelope saying that now, he doesn’t have to worry about Joon and that he wants Sun Gyeong to live the life she wants to. Sun Gyeong asks what’s inside and Duk Jin says that he already signed his part so she just needs to do so as well and Sun Gyeong thinks he’s going to divorce her. Duk Jin says that he avoided the crucial role of being there for her when she needed it and that he just acted like he was always in charge. Sun Gyeong asks what’s he doing now and how hard is it for him? He tells her that he wants to submit the papers within a week as soon as she signs. Sun Gyeong claims she won’t sign and that she didn’t know until now that Joon was gone from her life and she can’t afford to lose him as well and wants to take everything back. Duk Jin asks if she can live without seeing Joon for a little while Sun Gyeong asks if they have to? Duk Jin says it isn’t easy and that he thought his talk with her would soothe her over and asks for the envelope back but Sun Gyeong wants to rip them apart. Duk Jin tells her to stop and she doesn’t know how expensive those are. Sun Gyeong wants to shred and burn them when Duk Jin shouts that they’re not divorce papers and they’re actually plane tickets and travel agency documents.

Sun Gyeong is confused by this while Duk Jin claims that she would have torn up a lot of money. He tells her that they should go on a trip since they need a sabbatical. Sun Gyeong asks why should they go on a trip now after everything that’s happened? Duk Jin says that if he didn’t do this now, he thought he wouldn’t have any chance. He says he told Joon before about wanting to go on a trip to restart their lives. He wasn’t sure about timing, or goals, and even leaving the company behind because if he told her that he wanted to go on a trip with her, she wouldn’t have taken him seriously.  Sun Gyeong is still surprised since she thought for sure they were divorce papers. Duk Jin said that he seriously thought about divorce when she said that she wanted to adopt Ran, but he thought that it’d be better to just start over from the beginning. He says that she knows that he’s lazy and doesn’t like loud and complicated things and only thought aloud to get divorced. He wants to start over fresh and consider this to be a 2nd proposal to her. Sun Gyeong wonders how long was he waiting to be with her and that heart of her mind was sowed deep within her and just kept knocking away… ? She apologizes and hugs him saying that she’ll live only for him from now on.

In Joon’s hospital room, Ran’s still asleep and Hani’s thinking she’s sleeping for quite a while… she must have been surpised.. and must have been tired.  Joon is on the phone with Hani’s Mom and he tells her that he and Ran are both fine and if she wants to talk to Hani? Hani’s mom says that it’s all right. Actually, because it was Thanksgiving(Korean), they couldn’t get tickets. But she says they’ll see him tomorrow since they can’t drive at night due to Hani’s Dad having Presbyopia (farsighted vision). Joon tells her it’s okay and not to worry. When the call’s over, Hani asks if she’s coming tomorrow? Joon confirms and tells Hani that she should come up to. When Hani asks where, Joon meant his hospital bed. Hani embarrassingly says no since the bed’s too narrow and they’ll be touching each other. Joon tells her it’s not narrow and Hani says not to move since the surgery site might hurt. Joon tells her to just come up because he wants to tell her something and says if they stayed like this and he gets hurt, will she take responsibility?  She gets in the bed and Joon says when he thought he’d die… he thought he wanted to tell her something before it happened. He says that he’s glad he was able to die having loved her…

It’s a sweet chapter, but I’m REALLY hoping Duk Jin and Sun Gyeong decide to adopt their own child. I keep hearing about this Asian stigma against adopting outside the family and it’d be great to see them prove that blood isn’t the only thing that determines family. It’s also be great for them to have a child that they could save from having a miserable life like most of them had. I’m just hoping Duk Jin’s time with Ran made him more willing to have one in his house.

A new site has risen from the ashes of YoManga

For those of you that don’t know, the core staff of YoManga (minus Sam and ColorYM) have created a new site for the main series that they were working on. And that includes Que Sera, Sera!! The site is called Mangazuki and you can check it out here. However, there are a few changes.

1. They’re not posting anymore RAW chapters

2. The chapters aren’t separated into pages anymore. They’re one long page and you comment at the very end. 

With that in mind, here’s how I’ll likely handle everything for tomorrow. I’ll definitely translate, but it’ll take a bit longer. I’m sorry, but I can’t get pictures of the quality you’re all used to. I don’t have the technical know how to pull it off and I don’t want to risk getting ID’d by Lezhin if I make a mistake. I’m just going to take pics with my phone and then put it in an image file for people to look at. There will be a LOT more pics so please bare with me through all this since there are only 4 chapters left.

Quick update on how much is left of Que Sera, Sera

I found out that the author had a blog as well as a twitter account and she went into more detail about when she was planning on ending the story. She said that she’s planning on ending it at Chapter 70 which means that we have four more chapters left until it’s over.

I know a lot of you want pictures as well and I’m still trying to think of the best way to make it feasible. The main thing is that I’m not much of an editor and so there’s a good chance the pics I put up will be of lesser quality than what you’re used to. Hopefully, things work out for all of us.

Found what we’re looking for regarding the series.

I know most of you want me to put the pics up for QSS as well as the translations. While I’m not sure I can do that for the next chapters right now, I found a way that everybody here can be satisfied for the recent translations. I found another site that was hosting the raw chapters of QSS right here. https://raw.comicspace.com.br/manga/que-sera-sera

The site is in spanish, but the old raw chapters are there so just match them up with my translations. There are 2 things though.

1. This site shouldn’t be viewed as complete substitute for YoManga since QSS is just the main series that they have from them. So I think it’d be wise to avoid their comment sections in order to not attract more attention than necessary. 

2. I don’t know if they were just taking the raw chapters from YoManga or if they have their own source? What that means is that I don’t know if I can get chapter 67 and up from them. If they do that’s great. But if they don’t, I’ll have to think of a workaround.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 66 translation summary

Chapter starts at the end of the last one. Sun Gyeong flung herself in front of Ran to protect her, but Joon runs in front of them while Hani yells out for Joon. Joon managed to push the two of them out of the way in time while he got hit by the car instead. Hani collapses and somebody (either the person who found Ran or the driver of the car) calls 119 (Asian equivalent of 911) and reports a person hit by a car. Ran's crying out for her Aunt and Dad and Hani's sobbing over Joon as well. Joon's awake and thinks to Ran that she shouldn't cry and Hani shouldn't either because he's fine. Then he remembers he still has to give the ring to Hani and tries to touch her face, but loses consciousness. Hani sees this and screams out his name.

Joon's taken to the hospital for surgery and everybody is waiting outside. Sun Gyeong is crying and wondering if something went wrong and how can she live without Joon? Hani tells her to stop crying and if she thinks Joon's dead because he's just having a simple operation. Sun Gyeong states that it's been over 3 hours already and wonders if something went wrong? Hani says that he'll come out with a smile on his face as if nothing ever happened.

They go in and see Joon and Hani starts crying over his body. Sun Gyeong tells Hani to not contradict herself. Then she says that the surgery went fine and asks Hani how long she plans on crying? Hani asks how can she be so cold? Sun Gyeong explains that the driver quickly stepped on the brakes and can't she see that Joon only needed a cast? She says that his life isn't in danger now so she tells Hani to wake him up since he shouldn't sleep with so much anesthesia. Hani tells Joon to try and wake up and Joon does. The doctor and nurse come in and the nurse says he shouldn't be asleep right now. Doctor asks Joon shouldn't he be glad because all he has is a femoral neck fracture (broken leg). The doctor was suspicious that Joon might have also had head trauma. But fortunately the MRI detected no abnormalities. The surgery went well and it's just a light abrasion that's stable for the time being. The doctor then asks Joon if he had testicular surgery at the hospital before which causes Joon to instantly wake up. Joon and Hani are both nervous and Hani takes Ran back from Sun Gyeong. Sun Gyeong thinks the doctor is joking and asks him what's he talking about? Joon tells the doctor that he did have testicular surgery after he had an accident in the summer and that he got a replacement. That makes Sun Gyeong angry while Hani's wondering what can she do? Sun Gyeong can't believe this and asks him what's he talking about and when did this happen? Joon asks the doctor if there was any problem with that region? The doctor says it isn't a big deal, it's just that it didn't show up on the CT scan. The nurse whispers to the doctor that the family didn't know about his testicular surgery. The doctor feels awkward and tells Joon that if he feels sick, stop using the painkillers. The two of them promptly leave after making things worse.

After they're gone, Sun Gyeong is confused about Joon's testicular surgery asking when did it happen? Then she angrily demands to know what the hell is he hiding from her? Joon explains that when he came back from China, he didn't immediately return home. He got into a small accident and that he didn't want to worry her. So he got the surgery done and that's it. Sun Gyeong says it all makes sense now while Hani's trying to tell her to take it easy because Joon's still a hospital patient. Sun Gyeong asks Hani if she already knew about it and Hani claims she honestly just found out a little while ago. Sun Gyeong is agitated about having things kept secret from her again and wants to know if there's anything else? Joon claims that he's infertile now and won't be able to have another child which stuns Sun Gyeong. Hani whispers to Joon what's he talking about since he told her earlier that he's okay now? Joon whispers back that she needs to keep watching because they have to take advantage of this opportunity. Sun Gyeong is stunned that Joon's infertile and wonders how can it be that they're both infertile? Joon claims that Ran will be the only child he'll ever have in the world. Then he asks Sun Gyeong how lucky is she since if it weren't for Hani, he wouldn't have had any children at all? Joon claims as long as he's with Hani, everything will be fine and that he's barely able to hang onto Hani as it is. Sun Gyeong is just dumbfounded by everything.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 65 summary

Chapter starts from the last one with Sun Gyeong realizing that Ran's missing. 5 minutes earlier, Ran woke up and really had to pee. She tried to tell her Aunt that, but she was outside the car so Ran sprinted out to the rest area. She can't find a restroom so she tugs on a random woman's shirt and tells her she needs to pee. The woman points her to the restroom and Ran thanks her while the woman wonders why a young child is alone by herself and where is her Mom?

Sun Gyeong is at the Rest Area food court calling for Ran and wonders where the hell did she go?

Hani called Duk Jin and says that she's coming back to Seoul now. Duk Jin tells her to calm down since he's sure that Ran is with Sun Gyeong. Hani tells him that she can't contact Sun Gyeong, but is he sure she's on her way up to Seoul? Duk Jin says that he thinks so and that he'll let her know right away when Sun Gyeong comes back so try not to worry. Suddenly, Hani gets a call from Sun Gyeong. She tells Duk Jin that she managed to get in touch with Sun Gyeong so she's hanging up on him. Hani and Joon are both incredibly angry at Sun Gyeong and they demand to know where she is? Sun Gyeong just says that Ran's gone which leaves Hani stunned and she says what?

Ran is wandering around the parking lot trying to find her Aunt's car and gets lost. She thinks that she spotted it and gets inside. Unfortunately, she guessed wrong and it belonged to a different person. The owner was sleeping inside his car and wakes up after hearing the door shut. He wonders what that sound was and guesses that he just heard wrong. He starts the car and gets on the freeway. He thinks that he'll have a snack that he put in the backseat, but looks in his rear view mirror to see Ran eating it. The guy freaks out and asks who she is? Ran's crying thinking her Aunt changed.

Back at the rest stop, a missing child alert is put out for Ran with her description being broadcast to everybody and it tells anybody that finds her to bring her to the information desk. Sun Gyeong is wracked with guilt over losing Ran and wonders if something bad happened to her? Then she wonders in horror what has she done?

Ran's with the guy at the next Rest Area and she's crying. The guy asks Ran if she has a bracelet or anything else to prevent kids from going missing? Ran's adorably teary eyed and says that she's not a missing child and that she knows her Mom's cellphone number and the guy gives her a thumbs up saying that's smart.

Sun Gyeong is worried and wonders how long it's been? She wonders if she should call the police and wonders what she should do? Hani and Joon rush in and Hani angrily grabs Sun Gyeong telling her that if she can't find Ran, she's going to pay while Sun Gyeong just sniffs. Hani's phone rings and she answers it and it's Ran crying and calling out to her. Hani realizes it's her and the guy from earlier tells Ran to get off the phone and he asks if she's the girl's mother? Hani tearfully replies that she is her Mom and asks if she's safe? The guy tells her that he's not a bad person and that he found Ran hiding inside his car. Joon takes the phone and apologizes for all this and asks where he is? The guy tells him that he's at the next Rest Area, but he can't get off the freeway. He asks if they could come to him and that he'll take care of Ran until then? Joon thanks him and says they'll be leaving right now and thanks him again. Sun Gyeong plops down on the ground being so relieved that Ran is safe with Hani feeling the exact same way.

The guy is with Ran at the Rest Area and bought her a balloon. He's wondering what's taking them so long and tells Ran to stop moving around so much since it's getting obnoxious. A car zooms past them and Hani calls out to Ran. Ran's happy to see her Mom, Dad, and Aunt. But then she accidentally runs in front of a car that starts honking it's horn loudly. Ran sees the car and then Sun Gyeong runs right in front of the car to protect Ran. The car screeches and Ran's balloon flies away.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 64 summary

Chapter starts at the end of the last with Sun Gyeong shushing Ran.

Hani and Joon are walking in the park on the island and Hani doesn't know what to do when Joon proposes and if she should refuse or accept it? Hani's wondering if they do get married, would things be the same as they were now or would her life get more crowded? Then she wonders if Sun Gyeong would like it if they got married? She decides that the most important thing is her heart (feelings) and that whether or not they get married, the most important thing is that they're there for each other and that she'll trust Joon. Joon asks if something's wrong and Hani asks if he's going to say something to her? Joon tells her there is something and he talks to her about how he went to the hospital. Hani's confused wondering if he's not going to propose? Joon tells her that as a result of the accident he had along with post surgery complications, he thought he wasn't going to be able to have a child again. Hani asks if he's hurt while looking at his crotch (LMAO) and Joon covers it while saying it's all in the past and he's better now. Hani asks why didn't he tell anybody since this was a big deal and if he's really okay now? Joon assures her that he's fine and he wants to be able to get closer to her now. Hani calls him stupid and foolish for going through this alone and wants to know everything they told him at the hospital. Joon tells her that the surgery went fine and that his problems were mental since he was afraid of experiencing the pain. Hani realizes the pain was what made him act that way when she tried to find out where on his body his surgery occurred back in chapters 56-57. Hani asks if he's okay now? They're both embarrassed and Joon says it's become tolerable now and Hani says that she's glad.

Joon tells her that he wouldn't have been able to overcome this if it wasn't for Ran. When he thought that he couldn't have kids, it felt like the hard life he lived suddenly became meaningless. So he thanks Hani so much for giving birth to Ran. Hani's feeling uncomfortable and asks Joon if he only decided to date her because he thought he couldn't have kids outside of Ran? Joon tells her it's not like that. Hani talks about Joon's dream of being a good father, but he only needs Ran for that, not her. Joon tries to tell her that it's not like that and it used to be out of responsibility, but says he loves both her and Ran while Hani says he's lying. Joon grabs her and asks why does she think that he brought all of this up since it's because he wants to be honest with her and wants to talk to her without hiding anything. Joon tells her to look at him, but Hani pushes his hand away (she likely thinks he's going to propose now) and she's thinking that she doesn't like marriage and she just can't. Joon asks if she doesn't believe him? He says don't worry and that he's good at waiting for her so he'll just wait until she believes him with Hani being silent.

Hani's phone rings and it's her Mom calling in a panic because Ran's missing. Hani asks if she wasn't in the house and her Mom says that they took her out to the car to go to the market and she was left alone for a little while but now she's gone and doesn't know what to do? Hani says *find her* and asks if she opened the door by herself so they should look around the neighborhood. Hani's Mom says that her Dad spent an hour looking already. Her Mom went to townhall to broadcast it and that she went to the Police, but there's been no news so far. Hani's really worried and Joon wants to know what's going on with Ran and if she's missing? Joon picks up the phone and he asks Hani's Mom if there's anybody Ran would follow around there? He pauses for a second and then asks if Sun Gyeong contacted her earlier that day? Hani's Mom remembered that she did and Joon wants to know what she said? Hani's Mom says that Sun Gyeong told her sorry, but she can't come down for Chuseok this year. Hani's Mom mentioned that Joon, Hani, and Ran were there with her and then Sun Gyeong suddenly hung up. Hani's Mom thinks that surely Sun Gyeong wouldn't do something like this, but Joon tells her he'll contact her later. Hani's wondering what did Joon say about Sun Gyeong taking Ran? Joon's trying to call her, but she's not answering her phone. Hani's distressed and asks why would Sun Gyeong take Ran from them and Joon decides to contact Duk Jin.

Ran's in the car with Sun Gyeong and asks her if her Mom and Dad are waiting for her? Sun Gyeong says she's going with her aunt and they'll be gone for a while so sleep if you're sleepy.

They're at a rest stop and Ran's sleeping. Sun Gyeong is thinking that she took Ran out of anger and that there's nothing she can do about it now and doesn't know what she was thinking. Then she's trying to tell Ran she's not her maternal aunt, she's her paternal aunt when Duk Jin calls her. Duk Jin is yelling and demands to know where she is and if she took Ran!? Sun Gyeong asked if he got discharged yet and that she'll be up to get him soon. Duk Jin says that's not the problem here and that if Ran is really with her? He asks why would she take Ran without a word since she's not Ran's guardian? Sun Gyeong says she was going to tell him when she got back and asks if they could adopt Ran? Duk Jin can't understand what she's talking about since Ran already has good parents? Sun Gyeong claims she didn't make this decision lightly and that she was initially angry when she first came down here. But she saw Ran and decided she wanted to do what was best for her. She tries to rationalize that Hani and Joon are still young and she and Duk Jin have no kids, but Duk Jin yells that she's crazy. Duk Jin can't take this anymore and shouts that if she doesn't turn around and give Ran back immediately while also giving up the idea of adopting Ran, he'll divorce her. And he states he's not saying this lightly. Sun Gyeong claims she won't come back home until he changes his mind and he can leave her a message if he does. Duk Jin tries to tell her to wait, but she hangs up. She goes back to the car and discovers that Ran isn't in her seat and gets worried about her.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 63 summary

Alright, here's what I got. Anything in asterisks means I'm not sure it's completely accurate. There are a lot of them this week so check back later when I'll try and correct them.

Chapter starts at the end of the last one where Hani says she doesn't want live and forget who she is. She thinks that maybe, it doesn't matter if they get married or not. Then she thinks about if she and Joon can live together and support each other like a family and can they actually have a relationship like that? Joon approaches her from behind and asks what's she doing out in the cold? Hani says she was about to go in and Joon asks her to have a date with him tomorrow without Ran.

Duk Jin wakes up the next morning in the hospital and asks for Sun Gyeong. He realizes she's gone and wonders where'd she go? Sun Gyeong is furiously driving and thinks that she can't forgive them.

Hani's Mom is feeding Ran curry and says that they've been gone since dawn and probably didn't eat so she wonders if they're okay? Hani's Dad asks if she can't tell they're on a date? Hani's Mom dotes on Ran saying her Mom and Dad didn't eat anything and wonders if she thinks they'll be okay? Ran says that her Dad told her that he was going to propose to her Mom and Hani's parents are wondering if he's giving Hani alcohol (apparently alcohol and propose sound similar, but Ran couldn't pronounce the difference).

Joon and Hani are at ferry to Nami Island. Joon tells Hani to go ahead and get the tickets while he goes to the bathroom. She asks Joon if he knows where the ticket office is and Joon replies that he does and he'll be fine. When she's gone, he reaches into the glove compartment and it's revealed he's planning on proposing to Hani. Joon thinks that he's scared of being rejected, but if not now, when?

They're on the ferry and Hani is staring out at the ocean. Joon hugs her from behind and says that if her hands are cold, she can put them in his pocket thinking it'd be a sly way to get her to know that he has a ring in his pocket. But Hani just says it's cold and she's going inside.

They get to the island and Joon asks to sit down under the tree together thinking that it'd be the best way to have a natural conversation. But Hani wants to go to another spot that she thinks is beautiful and tries to take a selfie of them together. She claims the phone shook so the picture was bad. Joon tries to talk to her but she insists on taking another photo while Joon thinks this isn't working.

They're at a restaurant and Hani asks Joon if he remembers when he was younger and the fun they'd have with those lunches? Joon's upset because he wanted to try hiding the ring in the cake at the cafe and that he can't hide the ring inside the lunch. Hani asks if something's wrong since he looks uncomfortable and that they can go back if he's tired? Joon says he's fine and thinks that *he's been thinking about the ring for so long that he nearly forgot about her*. Then he claims he's hungry and the food is good. Hani is thinking that he's a fool and then flashes back to 2 hours earlier. She forgot her scarf when she went to get the tickets and went back to the car to get it since it'd be cold out soon. She saw Joon had a ring case and was spacing out on the ferry wondering if he was actually going to propose to her. Joon tried to get her hands in his pockets to feel the ring but Hani tells him they should go inside. She knows without a doubt now that Joon is planning to propose and doesn't know what to do? In the present, Joon wants to eat fast and then think about the ring while Hani thinks Joon is too predictable.

Hani's Mom asks Ran if she wants to go shopping with her grandparents while they buy her a lot of stuff she'll like? Ran says yes but worries her parents won't know where she is? Hani's Mom says she'll call them and let them know and then realizes that she forgot her phone and rushes in to get it while Hani's Dad says all she ever gets is spam. He suddenly needs to go into the house as well to use the bathroom and tells Ran to stay still. While he's gone, Sun Gyeong knocks on the car window and shh's Ran while she sees her Aunt.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 61 summary

Chapter starts with the last one with Joon calling Hani's parents Mother-in-law and Father-in-law. They're furious that Joon is Ran's father and they want to kill him (pretty sure they planned to do this for whoever the Father was). Joon tries to apologize to Hani's dad while calling him Father-in-law while he tells Joon not to call him Father-in-law. He has Joon caught in an armbar while demanding to know what Ran's Dad was doing for the past 4 years while Joon says he's dying. Hani's restraining her Mom trying to prevent her from throwing things while saying that Joon never knew he was the father and that she never told him. Hani's Mom says this is crazy and if Hani thought they'd be so against whoever Ran's Father would be? (their reaction says otherwise :P) Ran tells everybody to stop fighting and that fighting makes her scared. They calm down with Hani's father saying they shouldn't do this in front of his granddaughter and that they'll sit down and talk about it.

Hani's Mom is talking to Hani about how she hardly ever calls or sees them except for holidays and she came up to their house before Chuseok with no warning and wants to know the reason why she hid Ran's paternity from them? Hani talks to her parents about how she knows the main reason they got married wasn't out of love, but because her Mom got pregnant with her. Then she talks about how when they felt like they were done being responsible for her, they separated when she was 20. Hani's Mom asks if that was the reason why she never told Joon and calls her a nincompoop while Hani exclaims she didn't want to force Joon to live like that. That's why she decided to raise Ran alone and that she didn't want to regret giving birth to Ran. Hani's Mom claims they don't regret giving birth to her while Hani claims that's a lie. Hani's Dad tells her not to say things like that and that he loves her more than anything in the world. And if their choices hurt her, he's sorry. Hani apologizes to him saying she didn't mean to say it. Joon tells Hani not to cry while Ran gives her toilet paper to dry her tears (hopefully it's not the cheap kind you find in restaurant bathrooms). Hani's mom asks why is she crying? *(can't make out second part of bubble)* Then she says that they were good at raising her, but she decided she wanted more out of life. She gets a little misty eyed and asks if she thinks her parents are still unhappy? Hani then thinks it's weird that the two of them were together right now despite being separated. Joon also thinks it's weird given that they came unannounced and her parents were together right then and almost asks if they got back together. Hani's Dad says that it wasn't anything important, he just wanted to see new pictures of Ran that Hani's Mom had. Hani's Mom said *he burst in* and wants him to get a new phone already since he still has a 2G model and it's not like he'll die if he changes it. Hani's Dad claims it's not that he's afraid to, it's because texting is annoying for him. Hani asks what they're talking about regarding photos of Ran since they should have an album of them. Hani's Mom complained about not seeing any new photos of Ran in a while so she complained to Sun Gyeong and she got the daycare app which allows her to get a new photo of Ran every day. But since Hani's Dad refuses to upgrade his phone to a smartphone, he keeps coming in and out to see Ran's photos on Hani's Mom's phone which is really annoying her. He says he's fine with this and doesn't want to change. Hani's thinking that Sun Gyeong was acting more like a daughter to them than she was and (either her or Joon) apologizes in her head to her.

Chapter is called "A Painful Memory"

Sun Gyeong is sleeping over at the hospital with Duk Jin. She remembers Joon claiming he'll pay her back with Sun Gyeong asking how would he do that and Joon replies she should live her own life. Sun Gyeong is thinking about Joon's statement claiming their Dad would have wanted her to live her own life. She starts crying and thinks "What do you know?" and can't believe that he thinks she can just leave the situation alone and live her own life because she knows that's not what her father wanted her to do.

The story does a flashback to around 15 years ago. We see a Man in the middle of a rundown room coughing while writing. He loudly crumples up the paper he was writing and throws it into a drawer. It's revealed the Man is actually Joon and Sun Gyeong's Dad as Sun Gyeong happily comes in saying that she passed her University Entrance Exams and that she'll be going to the same University as Hani and thinks this is perfect. Her Dad asks if she really has to go to college which shocks Sun Gyeong and he then asked if she wouldn't be worried about Joon? Sun Gyeong says he knows that they have a dorm there and she can't give up on going now. Her Dad asks how will she pay tuition since he's broke so Sun Gyeong angrily states she'll earn it on her own. Her Dad asks where is she going and she says she's leaving town. Dad thinks she shouldn't go out late at night and is about to open the drawer when she comes back in. He closes the drawer and asks why she came back in and she says he didn't touch any of the food she left for him that night and he claims he forgot. She points out he hasn't eaten in a while and isn't he starving? He claims he wasn't hungry and that he'll eat it now. He leaves the room and Sun Gyeong knows that he obviously hid something in the drawer and opens it. She disregards the paper he just put in there and looks through his checkbook which leaves her very shocked about his money.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 60 summary

Chapter starts at the end of the last one with Sun Gyeong shouting at Hani to get out now. Joon comes over and asks his sister what she's doing? He tells her to stop while defending Hani and asks what's making her act like this? Sun slaps Joon which startles Hani and Sun demands to know if Joon is Ran's father? Joon and Hani are surprised with Joon asking how did she know? Sun then asks how long have the two of them been lying to her? Joon gets up and confirms that Ran is his child and that he plans to marry Hani (kind of an impromptu proposal). Sun is completely shocked by the truth and Hani says that she didn't want to tell her like this. Hani then explains that Joon never lied to her since it was her own choice to give birth to Ran and that Joon didn't know until he came back from China. Sun says she also didn't know back then when she let Hani and Ran live with her and was wondering if Hani was secretly laughing at her behind her back? Hani says no, so Sun demands to know why she hid this from her for so long? Hani's really depressed and tells her that it was because it was so hard back then and she couldn't really rely on anybody. Raising a baby would have been too hard for her parents, yet she was Joon's sister and her best friend. Sun Gyeong takes offense to being called friend and tells Hani if she was really her friend, she wouldn't have done any of this in the first place. Joon tells his sister to stop and he looks remorseful. He takes the blame for not being there for Hani when she was raising Ran alone, but wants to be there for her and Ran now and he doesn't want to separate from them. So he's hoping that Sun Gyeong can accept all of them being together. Sun Gyeong talks about how much Joon has grown and how she pretty much raised him since Elementary School. Then she asks if he ever considered that since she's infertile, she dedicated her life to making him successful so that she wouldn't be ashamed seeing their Dad in the afterlife only for Joon to do something like this?

Hani takes offense to the last part and tells Sun Gyeong to listen to her because this is becoming too much. Hani then unloads on her asking if she's really not good enough for her and why is she putting Joon on such a high pedestal? She knows that she's 4 years older than him and her education is nothing special, but how does that make her inadequate? She then claims she's not much for looks, but Joon doesn't have much going for himself except his handsome face (kind of selling short herself and Joon). Sun Gyeong asks if she's kidding and if this is funny to her? Hani replies how is she kidding and says that she's put up with this long enough. Hani then says what should be funny is that Sun Gyeong thinks that she can fire her from her job when she's under contract and Duk Jin is her boss. And if Sun Gyeong tries to remove her, Hani will file a complaint with the Ministry of Labor. Joon tries to tell Hani to calm down, but Sun is really pissed now. Hani's practically goading Sun Gyeong into hitting her like she did to Joon while Sun says that she's a woman. Joon tries to break it up but they want him out of the way. Duk Jin comes in and yells at everybody to stop and says something akin to *he's the one that came to the hospital, yet they're all gathered out there and wonders why?* The fight stops and Hani leaves. Joon tells her to come back, but his sister tells him not to go and grabs his arm. Joon says sorry and lets go of her hand. Joon tells his sister to look straight at him and he tells her that she doesn't have to look after him anymore and that even though he's unemployed right now, he wants to go forward as Ran's Dad. He says he'll try to pay back all of the money he owes her while Sun protests how is he going to do that? Joon then tells her to just live her own life from now on since it's what their Dad would have wanted which leaves Sun Gyeong feeling crushed. Joon says beg your pardon to Duk Jin with Duk Jin thinking it's now finally over. (It's not over until I say it is dammit!!)

Duk Jin asks if they should be happy for them and consider it a blessing? Sun asks what is he talking about considering Joon is Ran's dad? Duk Jin says so what and asks if she can't see how much they care about each other? Also Hani's suffering a lot. Sun Gyeong realizes he knew all along and asks why did everyone do this to her? Duk Jin said he did it for her and to listen to her brother's request to live her own life. Sun Gyeong is wondering why is she being treated like an idiot and why didn't Duk Jin do anything to stop them when he knew what was going on? She pounds his chest saying how could he? Then she says he should always be on her side so why didn't he do anything and lied to her about everything? Duk Jin says he never lied to her, he just left things as they were. He tells Sun Gyeong to look at him and realize he's in a patient's dress and can't she *not be rash* and think about him? Sun is wondering if he's blaming her now and if he really wants to neglect Joon and leave him alone? Duk Jin tells her to calm down (there's something else I can't make out, looks like descend) and Sun Gyeong is just stunned by everything.

Hani's in the parking garage while Joon yells for her to wait and asks why was she alone and she should have called? Hani bursts into tears and starts crying in Joon's arms while Joon comforts her telling her everything will be okay. Hani says she wants to go see her Mom and Joon agrees and that they'll also have her see her granddaughter.

They get to Hani's Mom's place and her Dad acts all happy to see Ran. Her mom says they didn't call ahead and asks where Sun Gyeong is? Hani says they were the only ones that came and is surprised to see them together (they have a weird relationship mentioned in Chapter 50. I think they're essentially separated, but not formally divorced.) Joon greets them and Hani's mom says they haven't seen Joon before he left for China and why did it take so long? (Hani's Dad is doting over Ran calling her pretty). Joon apologizes and that he should have seen them earlier. Then he stands up straight, salutes, and says "Greetings Mother-in-Law, Father-in-law" which leaves them incredibly confused.
