LightEmUpdate: HowTo: Placing a Drumline Order
That is, by far, the most frequently asked question whenever we receive a quote request or phone call, and it is an important one (adding LEDs to your instrument isn’t exactly an everyday occurrence!). Sizes, measurements, quantities, LED densities, Static vs. Wireless – there could be a lot thrown your way, and as students or educators, you already have enough on your plates!

Fortunately, things aren’t that complicated! All you have to do is Contact Us!
Our process is a lot like ordering replacement drum heads for your line, and begins with the same question; What equipment do you have? Every drumline is assembled differently, and in order to provide the best price available (which we want to do!), we’ll need to know the number of each instrument, as well as the sizes for any bass drums.
Why only bass sizes? Snares and tenors are always roughly the same size, but each size of bass drum requires a certain length of LED strip to look great, and, to be honest, quality LED strips are expensive! The LED strips we use are IP65 rated “weatherproof” or higher, which provide a layer of protection from the elements, as well as drops and normal use. Paired with very bright 5050 RGB component LEDs, the LED strips are selected to ensure quality performance over multiple seasons.

From there we’ll present you with four quotes, one for each possible variation. You’ll have the choice of two LED strip types (Standard and High Density), and two types of control (Static RGB and Wireless).
Static RGB units are what we sell individually in our online store. This, when paired with Standard Density LEDs, is what we consider our “base” lighting system for drumlines. These units are performer-activated, and come with 7 colors built in (Red, Green, Blue, Aqua, Pink, Yellow, White), as well as an additional “safety” setting, which will prevent accidental activation, like during transportation.
Wireless units, while still under active development, are also a popular option. These units are controlled remotely (usually from the sideline), and have the ability to change between thousands of colors at the press of a button, using all kinds of included effects, as well as use the features of the Static RGB units when not being controlled. Unlike other systems, our wireless system is designed specifically for the Marching Arts – not a theatrical retro-fit! The units are compact enough to be placed on the performers themselves, and are able to be controlled from up to a mile away in optimal conditions!
As for the LEDs, things are fairly straightforward. We offer two variants: Standard Density LED strips and High Density LED strips. Basically, High Density LED strips have twice the number of individual LED components as the Standard Density LED strips, so they are theoretically twice as bright! At the same time, they require about twice the power, so batteries will drain faster.

Once you receive your quotes, then it’s decision time! Decide which option is best for you, and let us know! We’ll start to process the paperwork and get an invoice to you within 24 hours of your approval, which can be paid via Credit Card or any other method accepted by PayPal right within the invoice itself!
Making your drumline the “brightest on the block” has never been easier! Pair that with technical support straight from the designers and manufacturers, and you’re set to light up the field for seasons on end!
