Intoxication brews in her stomach and sends a series of giggles bubbling out her mouth. Huddled into her sit, Satya looks rather undignified and open with her lazy smile and loose posture. Her low tolerance for alcohol was written all over her flushed face.
“This drink...is sickeningly sweet, and it burns. I quite like it.” Though she is inebriated, her calculated, practiced lilt never fails to remain constant and eased. Such occasions where Satya was permitted to drink were nearly unfounded, save for the few formal events where she was served small amounts of bhang lassi.
This was not a small amount.
“You want me to talk about Genji? Well...I shouldn’t-” Satya finds herself interrupted by a sharp hiccup, which she follows in response with another fit of soft laughter. “Okay. Genji-kun--that’s what he told me to call him--is a very strange boy. I recall our initial meeting was not the most pleasant, and I had found him to be quite vexing and in some cases rather unsightly. Yes, I do mean his hair, and yes, I still do think it looks ridiculous. But I can’t imagine him without it.
“Genji-kun persisted in what I had first assumed to be irritating for the sake of being irritating, but...that wasn’t it. He actually wanted to be my friend. I arrived in Hanamura for business and he dragged me kicking and screaming into the entertainment of the city. Fully letting my hair down like that was overwhelming in such a new environment, but looking back I do think he kept careful watch over my state of comfort.
“When I asked him why he was doing all these things, what his motive was, he told me it was fun. It was fun to find a person and show them a side of life that they have never seen before, and it was especially fun to show me because I was already so incredible, as he had claimed me to be.
“I remain in contact with Genji-kun and his brother, and I think I’m looking forward to my next assignment in Hanamura. While I enjoyed the company of both the Shimada brothers for different reasons, one for familiarity and one for change, Genji-kun was...different. He is a friend.”
