“It’s been a while...”
Not Your Average Law and Order Episode (Detective AU with chakramsareneat)
“Alright, alright,” Axel added a few quick notes to some paperwork that had already nearly been finished the night before. He then hit save, stood up with his coffee, and turned to face Lightning. To be honest, he had no issues with Lightning driving the car. Did he want to drive sometimes? Sure. But what he did love doing was making a big show of being put out over not driving, because he knew it either got under her skin or entertained her, depending on the day. “Yes, Mom, you drive,” Axel started walking towards the door to where their car would be waiting, “I’ll just smile and look pretty beside you.”
“And you’ve never looked prettier,” She smirked, checking the gun strapped to her leg before putting on her jacket. She could never have been more thankful that they didn’t have to wear uniforms. It would give them away in an instant.
Their car was stunning, absolutely gorgeous. Sleek, fast, powerful. Everything they needed to get the job done. She unlocked the door and opened the passenger seat for Axel.
“After you, dear,” She was happy to have Axel riding shotgun. She could poke as much fun as she wanted at his driving. But she could never question his skill with a gun. He had a talent for always having the bullet hit it’s target.

Papers lay scattered over the desk as fingers thundered against the keys of a computer. The woman straightened her glasses as she made her latest report. Though this part of the job was dismal, it was necessary, and Lightning was never one to shy from responsibility.
Her partner however? A completely laid back person. It reminded her of a certain blond that often took his sister out. She couldn’t stand him, but thankfully Axel was nothing like Snow. Nowhere near as bad.
She could only wonder where her partner in crime solving was. Their shift had started. She had half a mind to take their car out to find him. A wonderful scene played in her head of finding Axel walking down the street, her hand grabbing him from their car, and tossing him through the nearest wall.
Her dream was interrupted by the sound of familiar footsteps behind her. She could only shake her head with a small smile.
“You better have brought me coffee.”
“Of course. What do you think I am, an animal?” Axel set one of the two coffee cups he had been carrying on Lightning’s desk beside her before walking over to his own. He yawned and stretched in his chair, scratching at the back of his hair. He hadn’t been able to sleep very well, so he had slept past his alarm, which meant he was doomed to be late as it was. So, naturally, he got his partner coffee as a peace offering. And, hell, he knew he could finish up his paperwork pretty quickly anyway. “Anything exciting this morning? Or just the ongoing and thrilling saga of paperwork and listening to the Captain rant about the ‘good ol’ days’ when he was a young, spry recruit?” Axel was waiting for his computer to boot up, so he turned his char to look at Lighting while nursing his coffee.
“I could answer that, or I could drink this coffee and let you keep your dignity,” She smirked and took the coffee, nodding towards he partner with thanks. She sipped it with a smile. Axel knew her coffee order by heart now, and he always got it right.
“Cap’ hasn’t been in yet,” Lightning responded, “He left some files on my desk last night. There seems to be an increase in gang warfare,” She said, “It’s probably over taking territory to sell drugs. I think he wants us to look into it.”
“You wound me,” Axel mimed grasping at his heart in agony, before spinning his chair to log into his computer. While he got what he needed to work on up on his screen, he listened to Lightning’s explanation of the increase in gang activity and that they were being put on that particular duty. “Gangs? Fighting over drugs? Say it ain’t so,” Axel started, glancing over to Lightning, “So, what’s the first order of business on that front?”
Lightning just rolled her eyes at the sarcasm from her partner. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, Axel could be her medicine at the best of times. With his coffee and snark, paired with her lack of coffee and snark, they made for an incredible team.
“I think we should take a ride down to the West end,” She said, “I wanna see what we’re dealing with,” A few more keystrokes and she stood, stretching for a bit, “And before you even try, I’m driving,” She produced a set of keys from her pocket and jingled them with a smirk.

Her Sons (For the-key--of-destiny and fairy--stars)

Looking up from the intense game of checkers he was playing with his brother, Ventus hopped to his feet excitedly. Maybe today was the day?
“Come on, Roxas!” He pulled the other up, abandoning the board game. “We don’t want her to get mad because we’re late.” With fingers interlocked with his twin’s, Ven tugged Roxas out the doorway and into the front hall, an excited look on his face.
He almost couldn’t stop, but when he did, he nearly hit the desk and Roxas bumped into his back. A quick glance over his shoulder confirmed that his twin was okay, so he turned and smiled at this new person.
“Hello!”
He had just thought of a good move, too… Roxas blinked in surprise as his twin suddenly pulled him to his feet. “H-hey! Ven! I didn’t get to-”
The protest was quickly cut off, as Roxas knew he was pleading to deaf ears. Ven was fairy excited about this, and who was Roxas to kill his fun, anyway?
Squeezing his sibling’s hand, he allowed himself to be tugged along, trying to keep up with Ven’s speedy pace. “Slow down…!”
Roxas squeaked as he bumped into Ventus’ back, but looked up with alert blue eyes at the matron, then the new figure.
The woman ran a hand through her pink hair as she heard a pair of footsteps come charging down the hall. She could only blink as two blond boys came crashing into the desk. The lead one was certainly full of energy.
She took a quick glance of both of them. She gauged them both to be in their early teens, though their paperwork would confirm that. They appeared to be almost identical, though there were minimal features she began to pick out.
Either way, they were both about to be hers.
“This is Miss Lightning Farron,” The matron smiled, “And she is going to be taking you both home with her,” She turned to Lightning, “And these are Ventus and Roxas.” “Nice to meet you,” Lightning smiled, offering a hand out for them to shake.
Do you have a valentine yet?
Put “ᴅᴏ yᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀ ᴠᴀʟᴇɴᴛɪɴᴇ yᴇᴛ?” in my ask to see how my muse reacts.
"Uhm.. No I don’t think I do yet. Why do you ask?" Roxas looks up at her then tilts his head slightly.
“Hmm..” The blond lifts a brow up slightly as he follows after her. “What do you mean by that?”
He laid the boy on top of her and wrapped her arms around him, "I can't just stop worrying, Roxas. That's not how it works."

"Uhm.. No I don’t think I do yet. Why do you ask?" Roxas looks up at her then tilts his head slightly.
"Yeah, yeah.. But still you don’t have to worry so much. I’m fine." Roxas closes his eyes and lets out a soft sigh.
"We'll see," She smirked. She gently guided him over to the bed to lay down with her.

"I’m not lonely, not really I’m fine." He smiles lightly at her then tilts his head towards her hand. "You don’t have to worry over me so much."
"Worrying about you is my job, you know," She smiled a little and then gently pressed her lips to his forehead, "If I didn't do it, well, I wouldn't have you."

"You just look lonely," She said, running a hand through his hair, "I thought maybe you could use a valentine to cheer you up."
Kiss.
Put “kiss” in my ask box and my muse will kiss yours regardless of who your muse is.
"Well.. Ok then." Leaning up he presses a light kiss to her cheek before dropping back down, rubbing at his neck lightly. "Is that alright?"
"Thanks." He nods then goes quiet once more, simply enjoying the closeness.
The hand around his waist began to gently rub his back. She wanted him to be comfortable.

”..Is it alright if I just stay like this for a little while?” Roxas asks quietly after a few moments.
"Yes, of course it is," She gently pressed her lips against his forehead, "You're always more than welcome to this, Roxas."

“Mmm..” The blond smiles absently then shifts to wrap his arms around her in a loose hug.
She tightened the hug with her other arm, bringing him a little closer to her. She nestled his head softly against her chest, wanting him to be comfortable.

"Yeah, I know that." Nodding he closes his eyes and tilts his head towards her hand. "Thank you."
"Of course," She added the rest of her hand to cup the boy's face gently, "You mean a lot to me."

"I’m feeling a little better yeah. Haven’t been snapping at everybody." Roxas manages to return the smile before sighing gently.
"Good," She brought her thumb to his cheek and began to stroke it gently, "You know you can talk to me about anything, right?"

"Perfect," She smiled, "How are you feeling today? Rested?"
Cute. (How my muse would describe yours.)
"Hey, no I am most certainly not ‘cute’." Roxas lets out a quiet huff as he crosses his arms, a frown on his lips.
“Yeah, I know that..” Roxas whispers quietly as he closes his eyes, slowly relaxing against her.
"And you know that will never change, right?" She asked softly, watching him drift. She gently guided him against her as she continued to put him to sleep.
