NAME: Danielle “Dani” Dennison AGE: Twenty-Two SEXUALITY: Queer / Open Minded HEIGHT: 5′4″ PRONOUNS: She/Her OCCUPATION: Mythology Student, Rookie Costume Designer & Witch
Dani was around eight-years-old when she, her parents, and her older brother Max moved to Echo Isle. And compared to her older brother, she was excited to be moving to a new place. Their old home was too boring for her, and after attending her first day of school which happened to land on the day of Halloween, Dani was then proven to that Echo wasn’t anything like her former home. Not only did she learn about the Sanderson Sisters who were a group of witches, but after forcing her older brother to take her trick-or-treating and meeting Allison at a Halloween party, it turned out that Halloween night wasn’t going to be a normal night as the Sanderson Sisters were actually real!
What happened between them and the Sanderson’s was an event that none of them was ever going to forget no matter how much Max likes to pretend like it was one big shared hallucinated dream. Her virgin of an older brother at the time had lit the Black Flame Candle that brought the Sanderson Sisters back to life, and all three of them— especially Dani, was chased throughout the night by them, and oh yeah— Dani and her older brother both nearly died by almost having their souls sucked right out of them! Yet they all were able to make it through it all and the Sanderson Sisters were no more and Dani hoped it’ll stay that way.
However, after everything that happened and with the help of Allison, both she and Dani decided to research everything they could about what happened and on ways they could make sure something like this doesn’t ever happened again. At the same time, the events caused her interest and curiosity for the supernatural and magic to grow. She hadn’t wanted to fully believe that there was truths to there being magic within the isle when she had learned about it in school, but seeing magic happen with her very own eyes made it hard to disbelieve that there weren’t other forms of magic happening at Echo. There had to be, and so from that day onwards, Dani decided to continue on with her research.
Although their new start living here at Echo Isle started out rocky for them, the redhead was still happy to finally be away from where her family use to live. Back in her old school, Dani wasn’t so popular because for some reason most of the kids in her old class didn’t like how outspoken she was. They all thought she was weird, and when they found out hat her older brother at the time liked playing D&D, they found her to be even more of a weirdo and picked on her for it. This then resulted in her getting into a lot of fights and thus, a lot of trouble.
Speaking of her older brother and D&D, Dani never got the hang of playing D&D. Shocking right? But she was way too impatient to play that game and couldn’t understand the rules on how to do so. Instead, back when Max still played D&D, Dani would always opted to sit besides Max and watch him while he played. Not going to lie, she kinda wished that he would start playing it again because she missed those moments and her older brother was actually really good at it, but she also gets why he would never want to play it after all that happened years ago.
Dani adores Allison to the point where she views the older girl as an older sister and thinks that Max was too stupid to let Allison go when she left the island to explore. Don’t get her wrong, she was supportive of Allison wanting to travel the world, but it also kinda sucked seeing that by doing so was at the expense of her older brother and how he felt for the older girl. Max was crazy for Allison and was without a doubt heartbroken when they broke up, and Dani more than once tried to convince her older brother to at least fight for their relationship if he wasn’t going to go travel with her. Like, yeah Allison wasn’t sure how long she’ll be away from Echo isle and didn’t want to hold her older brother back but Dani knew Max would wait. And he’s still waiting for her even after Allison came back and Dani is hoping more than anything that one of them does something to get back together.
That said, she has a storage box under her bed containing all of the postcards and gifts Allison had sent to her throughout her travels. In fact, ever since the first post card she received, the girl looked forward to all the others and had wrote letters back to Allison. Realistically, she knew she could’ve texted, but Dani enjoyed the anticipation of waiting for when a new letter or postcard will arrive and which kind of stamp Allison used to show where she was at the time of sending them to her. And more than once did Dani wanted to show it all to Max, yet refrained from doing so as to not wanting to upset him.
When college came around, it was easy for Dani to decide she wants to major in folklore and mythology. Not only because she was overall interested in the subjects altogether, but also because she thought that majoring in them would be help with her continuous research about the magic involving the island and whatever else beyond it.
Dani has never admitted to it, but from time to time she gets nightmares about what happened that night. Particularly, she keeps remembering what happened when the Sanderson’s had her trapped within their cottage and when they forced fed her a potion that was suppose to help them suck her life force out. She never brought up the fact that the sisters were successful in forcing Dani to drink it before her older brother and Allison had came in to save her, but the memory of the way the Sanderson’s had looked at her like a piece of meat and being so close to death still chilled her to this day. Those nightmares only gets even worst when knowing that Max even sacrificed himself for her, meaning that if luck hadn’t been on their side that night, at least one of them would’ve been dead by now.
It may not help in knowing that hidden all the way in a box on top of her closet was the Sanderson Sister’s spell book. The book was still there despite the witches being gone and at the time, Dani didn’t think much of it when she took the book back home with her. It’s not like she ever opened it up and looked at the spells. No, she stashed the book away as soon as she got home and hasn’t took it out of her closet since.
Lately, Dani’s been feeling like there was something off about her. At first she thought it was because of the lack of sleep, but she realized that it was a feeling she’s had since she was younger. One that was there long before she and her family moved to Echo isle, but only intensified after that Halloween night. There was a small period in her life back in high school where she was able to ignore that feeling, but it’s been getting stronger more and more lately along with some strange happenings, but Dani didn’t know what it was. She has a possible idea, but it’ll be too crazy to say it out loud yet.
There is a black cat Dani see’s around the town for years now and she wants nothing more than to adopt it and take the cat back home with her.
This girl has no filter when it comes to saying her mind and has literally no shame about it, hence why she got into so many fights as a kid. Nowadays, she has been trying to refrain herself just a little and be mindful but she likes to speak what’s in her mind and sometimes what she say’s is not always the greatest to hear.
Half of Dani’s closet consists of monster and supernatural related shirts and patterned skirts to match.
Learned how to skateboard back when she was twelve and has been doing so ever since. In fact, most of the time you can find Dani riding her skateboard around town as a means for traveling unless she is being driven by her older brother’s beat up truck, Trixie instead.
That said, Dani doesn’t not trust herself behind the wheel of a car unless she wants to cause a car accident.
She has an interest in dressing up and costume making. Ever since she was a little girl, Dani has always loved Halloween and getting to dress up for it to the point where she had to bribe her older brother just to dress up alongside her. That interest never left her even after what happened, and if anything it continued to grow. To explore that interest, Dani took up many sewing classes she could and looked up many costume tutorials on YouTube so she could go off and make her own costumes. Heck, once she was in high school, Dani was even part of the backstage crew for theater class and did all sorts of costume designing for the school plays.
It’s a golden rule that the only one who’s allowed to bully her jerkface of an older brother was Dani herself. No one else is allowed to pick on him and if they do, they’ll have to answer to her fists!
