i feel like not enough people on here voice when they like something. i feel like we tend to worry that we might come off as creepy or needy or obsessive, and i think that needs to change. writers deserve to know when you like their character or their writing, so if you enjoy something about someone’s blog, whether it be their theme or their characterization or their use of certain literary devices, TELL THEM!! it inspires people to know that those consuming their work are enjoying it. it might keep someone from giving up on something they love because they think no one’s interested. trust me, no matter how many followers someone has or if they play an oc or a canon character, they’ll appreciate it. so spread your lovin’.

     well, he’s certainly very pleasant, isn’t he? always a nice thing      to come across. granted, she’s the sort of person who likes to      give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but this doctor seems       particularly pleasant. some of them rarely go out of their way      to even speak to her. let alone accept her inane apologies.

   he tries to be pleasant, yes ----it’s much more than    common courtesy. he works hard not to snap at    people and lose his temper by the end of a long day.    he does well, more often than not. but that’s not the    point.

    teeth dragged across her bottom lip as she     watched him — yeah, it looked pretty nasty,     but she’d handled worse. She could just go     and clean it up at home.

   he knows people who’ve handled worse on their own    just fine, but he’s still not comfortable leaving without    at least taking a look. after a moment, he looks up.

    a resigned sigh flees her lips and she shakes her     head — the faster she can get this over with, the     quicker she can get out of here. a hand moves to     settle on her hip, the other combing through her     hair.

   he gets as close as he can in his chair, leaning forwards    to look down at the scrape on her leg. yeah, it’s a scrape,    but it’s a nasty looking one. 

         ‘ HOW’D you get this, if you don’t mind telling me? ‘

     he can say that it’s fine all he wants, she’s still going to feel      extremely unprofessional. especially since she’s certain she’s      seen this particular doctor around before. maybe not worked      with him, but she knew his face, at least.

     she trails away, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear,      glancing back at elizabeth with a characteristic smile. poor       girl is terrified.

   it wouldn’t surprise him if she’s seen him before ----he spends    a disgusting amount of his time at the hospital, and with his work-    -ing in several departments, he meets a lot of people. many that    he wouldn’t recognize in a crowd, but a good few that he manages    to remember. like grace. there are too many grumpy, old nurses    to NOT remember someone who’s the exact opposite. 

         ‘ WELL, if you won’t accept that it’s fine, then i’ll accept            your apology. ‘

   she comes off as rude; defensive mechanism — hoping    the man will grow tired of her shit & leave. a sigh falls    from her lips as hands lift to brush her hair out of her    face; leave it to her to FALL while there’s a doctor near.

   well, she’s in for a surprise. it’s his job to be stubborn    and to put up with stand-offish individuals. he’s had    patients hit him at the hospital, before. this is nothing.

     oh, dear. this is exactly what she didn’t want to happen. the doctors      here are so busy and they have their own worries and they really      don’t need to be chasing her charges down. at least little elizabeth      seems to be in good hands.

      she takes a moment to flash a smile at elizabeth. she isn’t in       trouble. this was just a mild…inconvenience. her parents, more       relieved their daughter didn’t accidentally run into an OR or something,       hurry to scoop their child up.

          ❝ it’s time for elizabeth’s vaccinations, you               see and she…well, it doesn’t matter. thank you. ❞

         ‘ IT’S fine, really ----i was doing paperwork.            nothing that can’t wait. ‘ 

   sure, he’s busy, just like all the other doctor. but he has designated    time to do other, less-doctorly things like paperwork. or wrangling    tots, more appropriately. 

         ‘ I TAKE it she’s not a fan, huh? ------i don’t think anybody is. ‘ 

   the last bit is directed towards elizabeth, over anyone else. with the    way she tore into his office, he can imagine the fight she gave dear    miss dubois.

    teeth grit as she forces a smile, brushing off help in an     attempt to stand up.

   he would smile, but he’s worried (he does that a    lot) and he wants her to know that he’s serious.

      how many times has she had to run after a patient trying       to get away from a shot? too many, if you asked her. they       usually fell in two categories: young or elderly. the very        young were frightened and the very old were quite stubborn.       so here she is again, hurrying down the hall after a five year       old with pigtails, her parents close behind.

   paperwork. not something he loves, but it’s part of the only job    he wants to have, so he’ll put up with it with minimum complaints.    that’s not to say he doesn’t welcome a distraction, though, so when    a pig-tailed little girl high tails it into his office, he puts his pen down    right away. a moment later, he’s making his way into the hall with    elizabeth sat on his lap, lollipop in hand. and in mouth.

         ‘ YA LOSE somethin’? ‘

Ella’s lips were pressed into a thin line, bracing for the pressure she knew was to come. As soon as his fingers pressed down on her back she gasped softly.

   it’s fair game that she’s gone so bar as to bruise the bone, even,    but without extensive examination, there’s no way to tell for sure. 

         ‘ D’YOU have any ice around here? i’d get that            on there quick, to keep any swelling down. ‘

The smallest of nervous laughs comes from the blonde. She’s had her fair share of awkward things she’s said, and knows precisely how it feels to say something odd. Ella moves herself towards him, to shorten the distance he must move and chews the inside of her cheek, looking over at him.

   he offers a warm smile, and hesitantly - carefully - reaches    out to put a hand on her lower back, right around where she    had been holding it just a moment ago. he puts some gentle    pressure around the spot, but not directly on it.
