A Scottish factory worker shows off her tattoos. Her right arm bears emblems from her sweetheart’s Royal Navy warship. On her left are the names of friends who died minesweeping the North Sea. July 1917.
Women, they have minds and they have souls as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition and they’ve got talent as well as just beauty, and I’m so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for. I’m so sick of it! But… I am so lonely. Little Women (2019) dir. Greta Gerwig

We’re heading into December and awards season is full throttle and I’m already exhausted. Kicking actual nominations off is The Independent Spirit Awards with a truly surprising ballot. No “JoJo Rabbit”, with the exception of Renee Zellweger for “Judy”, their Lead Actress slate was surprising (Elisabeth Moss for the tired “Her Smell”, veteran actresses Mary Kay Place, Karen Allen and Alfre Woodard), love for “The Mustang” which came out earlier in the year to little attention, “Marriage Story” being awarded Best Ensemble which robs the actors, specifically Adam Driver, Scarlett Johannson and Laura Dern from being nominated as individuals (shame because Driver was superb and if his acting didn’t win the voters over, his out-of-left-field, rousing performance of Stephen Sondheim’s “Being Alive” would have put him over the top) and category shenanigans namely Jennifer Lopez being in the Supporting Category for “Hustlers” and Noah Jupe and Shia LaBeouf competing for Supporting Actor;
which means “Honey Boy” didn’t have a lead actor because there’s no way Lucas Hedges and his 30-minutes (if that) of screen time equals to Lead. It’s smart to hedge (heh), their bets because my friends who have seen “Uncut Gems” believe it’s a career best for Sandler, making he and possibly Pattinson the ones to beat.
However for the Golden Globes and Oscars, Noah is being put up for Lead and Shia and Lucas in the Supporting category.
Vulture did a profile of HONEY BOY set photographer Monica Lek who provided the site with exclusive behind the scenes pictures.

Hereditary (2018)
This entire wordless scene from Annihilation is one of the most strangely poetic things I’ve ever seen in a movie and it’s burned into my brain forever thanks to the unbelievable scoring that accompanies it
