Richard Shackleton Butterfield founded Butterfield & Swire in Shanghai and started out trading tea and silk, as well as cotton and wool imported from the UK. Butterfield & Swire has also been the China agent for a number of UK businesses, including major insurance and shipping companies, most notably Blue Funnel Line, for which Swire has been the Far East manager for more than 120 years. In keeping with Chinese tradition, he gave the company a Chinese name, Taikoo, which is still widely known in Asia, implying a large scale and a long history.

Have you ever seen such a colorful Guangzhou in Summer? And coincidentally, it happens on June, Pride Month.

We’re bringing some color to here, present to the world. Just like the golden road, less obstacles and more brighten. Things are changing so rapidly since Covid. But it ain’t turn us in to grey, we are still living with color like the city lights. Ahead to the future, hopefully the beautiful sky and night lights could light up every corner of the city and the world.

IFC, Gangzhou Internation Finance Centre, the second tallest building in Guangzhou, number one is Guangzhou Tower, unique design and transparent glass, at night, brilliantly illuminated in the dark city. But today the picture is gray, on behalf of Guangzhou COVID testing 2.3 million people today, the mood is gray, I hope Guangzhou can quickly control the epidemic and recovery, restore the previous lights.
