Xas took a step towards the man, half aware of how red he had suddenly turned, and tilted his head with a half smug smirk- He was barely able to contain his gentle laughter, unable to help but wonder if all humans turned pink so easily. There hadn’t been a moment in his past where he had remembered Sobran turning such a shade, and it drew him in. “Cold?” Xas had to look down at his near naked figure to wonder if he was indeed cold, but drew nothing from glancing down upon himself; it was true that his flesh had turned a slighter shade of blue, his lips purple, although not entire. The angel’s lips were a pale purple, more of a bruise really, as if someone had taken their thumb and smeared wine upon his mouth. "If you are cold, I dare not take what I needn’t need. It would be quite greedy of me to indulge in the pleasure of another’s warmth."
Well, that was a strange way to put things. It almost sounded inappropriate. “You look like you should be in a morgue,” he stated as he started to strip himself of his overcoat. With it off, he was certainly feeling the chill more acutely. “Could you still, um, put it on. It’d make things less uncomfortable,” he explained sheepishly. He held the coat out for the angel — or at least Jimmy was calling him that in his mind — to take. “Why are you out here?”
Xas had no idea why the man wanted him to wear the coat so much, it wasn’t like he could actually wear it due to his feathers, but hey- he was a humorous man. The man reached for the coat from the middle, careful that they didn’t touch, before holding it to his chest; this was the part that made the man uncomfortable, right? Xas’ nakedness. “I am looking for my….roses. I was-….I dropped them. They are still in a rucksack, haven’t bloomed. Why are you out here?”

Gabriel knew of a treaty between his brother and his father, knew the name which it bore as it was cast from Heaven after Lucifer’s fall and before his own. Knew the look in its eyes as he was betrayed by those who had claimed to love him. But more than anything he knew the pain it must have caused to have your own father turn his back on you.
After his own fall Gabriel never went to look for the treaty, never went to look for his brother. He regretted it many centuries later, to hear of the angel locked in the bell tower, the demon with wings others would say. He’d heard them all but they died over the years long since past and he hadn’t even heard a word breathed about his brother since. Not until today.
Not until the moment he came face to face with the being who’d been created between the Devil and God himself. Graceless his brother might be, wings clipped and removed from his back. He was still beautiful, still as pure as he’d always been.
"Brother." he whispered, it was the only thing he said as he stepped forward hand outstretched and placed against his cheek. "Xas."
It would have a been shame to his past to have moved anywhere but deeper into France, moreover in honour of his long dead friend, but because he didn't feel comfort elsewhere; his wings had been buried deep in the earth long before the state took the vineyard in the renaissance, and had flushed the man out of his home, giving him no other choice but to move.
It broke Xas' heart to be separated from his very grace, although having it taken for the second time was no walk in the park, it had crippled in for weeks; sadness had taken his vigour, his smile, nearly everything. Each day he knew had committed sin by simply lying in the to-be farmed hills, which if he were honest, had helped him a great deal- it gave him the strength to build his home upon that hill.
And so here he was, still on that hill, calloused fingers picking at the small trees he had planted weeks before mid-summer, pulling out the branches that would not bloom into grapevines. It was a difficult job, or so he'd like to think, trying to weed out the healthy vines from the dying ones and kept his days busy. It took but a moment to realize there was another in his presence, heart suddenly racing and he panicked- looking up, only to be caught by a hand, not hard, but gentle; physical connection was a pleasure he couldn't afford to have; No, it was not like he could enjoy it anyway. "I've not heard that name in many centuries....You stir my memories....brother."
