āTook quite some time, but I found you at last.ā
āYouāre always doing something dark and mysterious, arenāt you? First time Iāve seen you out here, though.ā
deweydecimaldarling:
After ushering out yet another confused second year with an armful of books, Kieran set a basket of pin-back buttons on his desk with a sigh and muttered,Ā āWood owes me s-so much for d-distributing⦠ H-honestly, thereās something in the waterā¦ā
āSomething in the water, huh?ā Lil popped up beside Kieran with a grin. āWhat, on account of a straight personās harder to find around here than a wi-fi connection?ā She shrugged. āNot that Iām gonna complain or anything.ā
odette--belcourt:
āYes, this sweater-vest is totally mine,ā Odette lied, shoving her hands in the deep pockets.
Lil rolled her eyes. āYou know, for a Slytherin, youāre a pretty crap liar,ā she said. āThe thing doesnāt even fit you, and plus, I think I saw Kieran wearing it. Are you cheating on your boy toy with him?ā
norabeaton:
āIāll try not to get too sappy on you. And I guess it does sound a bit weird, but friends are always great. Iām sure knowing ghosts are real would freak out a lot of people. There are those occasional muggles with the strange obsession with the undead and the afterlife, though. Best to stay clear of those, Iām sure.ā
āWell, the Ministryād want us far away from them, Iām sure,ā Lil said. āBut the thing about them is that other muggles kinda think theyāre crazy or exaggerating or something, and thereās so many movies about supernatural stuff that most people would write seeing an actual magical creature off as accidentally wandering onto a movie set.ā She sighed.Ā āThatās muggle technology for you. I dunno if itās a good thing for you lot or a bad thing, but itās there, all right.ā
norabeaton:
āIām sorry.ā Noraās brows knitted. Sometimes there were things where one couldnāt say anything to make it better. Nora hated it, but in this case there was nothing to help.Ā āIt must be terribly boring if you were to stay in this castle forever, though. If one is the adventurous type of person, itād be nice to travel, but I donāt think itās anything a ghost would really do, would they?ā
āDonāt worry about it. Seriously, you get all sappy, and thingāre gonna get weird.ā Liliana shrugged. āI guess it is, but hey, dying on the premises gets you a pre-made group of friends. Really weird, but hey, not really in a position to be picky. And... Iām sure some ghosts would like to travel around, but the way the Ministry is... Well, even muggles believe in ghosts, but I donāt think anybody wants them to find out weāre real.ā
jaxradd:
Jax nodded and shifted uncomfortably back and forth on his heels.Ā āYeah ⦠yeah I suppose you would know.ā He cleared his throat before looking up at the ghost. He couldnāt put his finger on it but he just didnāt know how to feel around ā¦.Ā āI guess thatās one way to look at it and itās one less year of dealing with being an actual adult. I can see the perks.ā
Liliana rolled her eyes at Jaxonās obvious discomfort. āClearly somebody never got ghost sensitivity training. Iām offended, I really am.ā She chuckled. āIām kidding. Thereās no such thing. Seriously, chill about it. Most of us are cool with it by now. But I guess youāre right. Nobody wants to be an adult right now, I donāt think, not even the adults. And I guess with whatās going on, with all the politics bullcrap and the potion scandal and stuff...ā She shrugged. āI donāt blame you lot, really.ā
norabeaton:
āBelieve me, ghosts arenāt the only one in this world adverse to change. Do you think they would have, though? Have another child, I mean.ā
āYeah, I figured. Other people include the Ministry and anyone over sixty years old. And I think they wouldāve. I mean, they wanted a kid to make them proud, and a dead kid isnāt making them proud so much as pitiable, so yeah, I think theyād try again.ā She shrugged. āIt sounds awful, but it is what it is.ā
odetteābelcourt:
āNot like you can even find where I keep them,ā Odette retorted.Ā āOkay. The potion is ready when you are. Only two kisses and sorry, but itās going to be Owen and I.ā
āI can literally walk through walls, and Iāve got all the time in the world. I think I can find things okay,ā Lil said with a roll of her eyes. āAnd thatās fine by me. As much as I hate to admit it, youāre both pretty hot, so itās not exactly a disappointment. But how does your boyfriend feel about this whole thing?ā
jaxradd:
I know. I think Iād feel the same way. Actually I know I would. But I guess weāll have to see if the eighth year will stick around when this year is over. Funny how things work out like that, huh?
I mean, I kinda get how they feel about being stuck here, seeing as Iām... yeah. And I think the ones who are close to the seventh-years will stay. I mean, they get an excuse to stay and screw around with their friends, so why not?
albusev-potter:
āHey! Iāve sat through it. I might have nodded off once or twice but I got out with an A in the subject. Surprised? So were my parents.ā
āYeah, once. āCause you had to. That doesnāt count. And seriously? They were actually surprised you passed? They expected you to fail? What on earth was that all about?ā
odetteābelcourt:
āMerlin I hope so. Otherwise, Iām going to be sitting around the castle with a bunch of romance novels for the year.ā Odette tugged on the hem of her sundress.Ā āHave you found anything out? I have your⦠ah, payment.ā
āYouād better watch those, or I might steal them. They donāt keep anything like that in the library here.ā She nodded. āI think Iāve got something. Just gimme a few more days to check up on it. I donāt want to give you bunk information.ā
jaxradd:
I think thereās a few students that would be in agreement with you. About the schooling not the umm ⦠not the other thing.
I canāt say Iād be particularly pleased with having to stay in the castle for an extra year if I was in their shoes. But some of them seem to be handling it better than others. Iāve seen a few champing at the bit to get the heck out of here.ā
norabeaton:
Nora chuckled.Ā āYeah, Iāve been at the wet end of a hose plenty of times myself. You should go and see them. Even if you donāt plan on staying there, which Iām sure you could, if they donāt mind having a ghost in their house. I canāt say I know how theyād feel, but Iād be overjoyed to see my daughter again if I had one.āĀ
Liliana shrugged. āMaybe when this whole potion-spraying mess gets fixed. I donāt know if it works on ghosts, but you know, none of us are exactly itching to try. Plus... I donāt know. It sounds selfish, but I just donāt want to go there and find out theyāve had another wonder child to replace me. They were young enough to have another, just barely.ā She forced a smile. āBut thatās the curse of ghosts, right? We never want anything to change.ā
profeseer-blanchett:
āSorry to inform you that Iāve never had much of an in-school social life. I didnāt get invited to many parties. Also, I attended Beauxbatons, not Hogwarts. But you know in France, adolescence without a few drinks is hardly a proper adolescence at all. Iāll leave the rest to your imagination.ā
āBeauxbatons, huh? Whatās it like there? Iām envisioning a much better interior design than portraits who follow you around, which is a little creepy, honestly. And I have to say, I havenāt got much of an imagination for it. I never did that stuff while I had the chance. Little bit of a goody two-shoes. Wouldnāt have lasted a day with the kids going here now.ā
albusev-potter:
āI bet you still havenāt sat in on History of Magic yet.ā
āNope. Like you would? I sat through it once, and once was way, way more than enough.ā
āOh, wow, I hope the eighth years have new classes this term. Have you heard anything about it? Nothing against the old curriculum, but it gets boring after a decade or so.ā
profeseer-blanchett:
āItās what I do, at least. I prefer not to get caught up in things like that. Though I do have to say I donāt approve of under-aged drinking.ā
Liliana grinned. āOh, come on, you canāt tell me you never did anything crazy when you were a student here. It seems like everybody hereās getting up to something wild when they think nobodyās watching.ā
