“A whole week? The girls are getting spoiled.” Nova laughed. It was good, especially this year. Having Sam back had been a gift in itself, but she would be lying to say it wouldn’t be even better to have her brother with the rest of her small family for the holidays too. “I’m off until the beginning of the year, too. We should celebrate somehow.”

“The girls deserve to be spoiled,” Lila reminded her, but Nova also deserved it. She just kept that comment to herself for now as she slipped her arms around her waist pulling her close together. “I was thinking a movie night with the girls, and maybe see if they want to go see their awesome uncle for a night so we can actually have a date night.”

Lila knew that she was lucky to have Rowan in her life not to mention the rest of the small family she had created around herself. “Okay I officially took off the next week so the important people can have my attention.”

novajckson‌:

“That’s always a good sign. So the guys aren’t being too stupid these days?”

“Oh the boys are always stupid I’ve given up on hope of them finding two braincells to share especially when it comes to women, but they’re at least good at their jobs.”

“It’s been work. Summer productions are starting, but nobody seems upset about the roles I have them, so it’s a start. How’s the shop?”

“The shop is always entertaining. But we’re busy which is all I can ask for really and that everyone seems happy to be working there.”

novajckson‌:

“And I’m more grateful for you than you know.” Nova promised, smiling. “I don’t think I can ever put into words how much.”

“You don’t have to. I know that you’re grateful for me, and for the kids. How’s work been for you?”

novajckson‌:

“Lila, I lost everything.” She sighed, “my father died because of me, and I spent four years looking for my brother who is…also probably dead because of me. You and Leah and Rowan are all that I have, I’m not taking that for granted.”

Lila reached up in order to rub along Nova’s chin, “As long as we’re both absolutely clear that we’re not going anywhere. You are my love and our family is my life. I’m so grateful for you.”

“I promise that I do. But if I ever do anything to make you question that, you need to tell me.”

“I’m just afraid you’re going to get bored and run away.”

“It would be a little hard to forget at this point, love.”

“I just never know for certain that you’re aware of just what you mean to me.”

novajckson‌:

“I’d like to think that I have a pretty good idea.”

“I would hope so with how much I tell you.”

novajckson‌:

“And then some. At least for me.”

“Yo know how important that you are to me right?”

novajckson‌:

“There’s no better one out there.” Nova laughed, “well other than the kids, but we didn’t have them yet.”

“And now we have everything that we could want,” Lila promised her quietly.

“I try.” Nova laughed, shaking head. “I didn’t figure you would, considering our entire friendship was founded on pizza.”

“Is there a better basis for a friendship though?” Lila asked fringing hurt, “I mean it’s an important matter in life.”

“You’re the best girlfriend,” She promised tapping her tenderly on her lips happily, “I’ll take some food though I can never say no to that.”

“I try.” Nova laughed, shaking head. “I didn’t figure you would, considering our entire friendship was founded on pizza.”

Nova let out a laugh, shaking her head. “I would say so, yeah. But I happen to love you, so it’s okay, even if the food helps.” 

“You’re the best girlfriend,” She promised tapping her tenderly on her lips happily, “I’ll take some food though I can never say no to that.”

novajckson‌:

“Leah was never going to have a normal life, unfortunately. But we’ll do our best.” Nova shrugged. It was easier not to dwell on everyone Leah wouldn’t know. “Being able to cook is the key to that?”

“Her and Rowen might not, but at least they’ll have a life filled with love,” she admitted hoping that it was going to be enough for them. “The food helps, but I do happen to love you for being you. But I think that is pretty obvious.”

“I don’t think I’d know how to give them a normal Thanksgiving even if we tried.” Nova admitted with a sigh. “That seems manageable. I can make decent mashed potatoes, you know, from scratch. I made them a few times growing up.”

“I think in order to give them a normal Thanksgiving we would have to be normal first and I don’t think that’ll happen any time soon,” She admitted shaking her head, “I knew I loved you for a reason.”

“That…is a very good question.” Nova sighed, pausing to think about it. Her last real Thanksgiving, she had been two, but then her mother died. And Leah was still young enough she wouldn’t remember. “My dad always got pizza.”

“Okay so the girls don’t have a normal Thanksgiving...that seems fitting, right?” She asked heavily. She was too afraid to screw it all up. “I was thinking at least a turkey and maybe mashed potatoes? The instant kind.”
