Another familiar face, of sorts. She hadnât caught the girlâs name, the last time she was here. Then again, she hadnât been looking to get along at the time. Kyouko was aiming not to be... quite so standoffish. After everything sheâd been through. Everything that made her the woman she is now... she knew well that it was impossible for anyone to go through life on their own. She willfully would reject her grandfatherâs teachings. She supposed that was why she didnât turn away at the blondeâs sudden approach.
âIâm alright,â she spoke calmly. Last time, she was surrounded by confusion. Plenty of questions still went unanswered, but she could handle one matter at a time. âYou neednât worry. I can manage my way around this time.â A pause. âIf youâd like to chat, then... that would be fine.â

She brushed hair out of her eyes. How many times could she retrace her steps? Mystery remained just out of reach, much to the detectiveâs annoyance. She supposed it was a matter of waiting. Waiting for something to happen. This air of perfection could only last so long. A city many would deem safe was the sort of city that hid more secrets than any other. Kyouko just wasnât... one for inaction.
Ignoring her thoughts for the time being, she focused on the moment instead. Lavender eyes shifted toward the other woman. âThe coffee?â her gaze turned toward the nearby cafe. âItâs rather pleasant. Ideal for the weather this time of year, as well.â
Slowly getting through the starters I owe!! School is owning my ass right now, but... Eventually.

A familiar face, though it wasnât as they were friends. Acquaintances, at best, if that. Though it was merely another reminder that she had no real concept of what the passage of time was. She was certain she was older. But she supposed he looked more or less the same as last time. Undoubtedly, still a troublemaker. Though there were far worse things to become in the world. Kyouko idly tucked lavender hair behind her ear. Her eyes fluttered open as she studied him. It was habit to study someone carefully, even outside of an investigation.
â...Not going to... borrow any books this time?â

Kyouko had the distinct feeling his energy could be detected from miles away. He practically... radiated positivity. Most would find it overwhelming to some extent. And at the end of the day, she wasnât so different. It was only through yearsâ worth of practice that she was able to withstand nearly any temperament. It was why she didnât shy away when he approached her. Rather, there was no apparent emotional response. One might think they were being ignored by her entirely were it not for the way her gaze turned toward him.
âI have a moment.â
Her words were spoken as neutrally as her expression. Calm, collected, cool. Of course, it was how she carried herself. A detective who was able to help anyone, no matter the situation. Though it wasnât as if many had reason to know who or what she was. Kyouko prided herself on her ability to deduce what someone might be thinking. But she couldnât quite determine what the boy was thinking. Not yet. Whatever his intentions were, she had little idea. For now.
â...Is there a particular reason youâve approached me?â
@resolutetruth liked this {x} for a starter!!
âYou recognize me.â
It wasnât a question. Not a statement. Not an accusation. It was an observation, deduced from body language. It was near second nature to read others. To see through them. To decide the truth from the things they said and those that they didnât. Her words werenât harsh, or cold. One could say it was a provocation, though it lacked any type of tone one would normally associate with such an attempt. However, it would illicit some sort of response. Especially so, if there was actual truth to it.
Of course, she would seem older than girl he saw Shirogane cosplay. She was a far cry from Junkoâs killing game. Grown up in a world that seemed intent on being the death of her. And now she was in this city, once more. Though it felt like years had passed. Maybe for her they had. Yet, mysteries still remained untouched. She supposed she would start with this boy who seemed... nervous? anxious? It wasnât in her nature to leave things alone, after all. Particularly, when he seemed to be weighed down by.... something. Was she concerned? Perhaps. Nevertheless, Kyouko was as unreadable as ever.

⨳ â RAINER MARIA RILKE;
send one for my muse's reaction!
âWhen anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.â âPerhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.â âWe need, in love, to practice only this: letting each other go. For holding on comes easily; we do not need to learn it.â âTo love is good, too: love being difficult. For one human being to love another: that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.â âWe are not allowed to linger, even with what is most intimate.â âDonât take my devils away, because my angels may flee too.â âBelieve in a love that is being stored up for you like an inheritance, and have faith that in this love there is a strength and a blessing so large that you can travel as far as you wish without having to step outside it.â âThe grief, too, passes.â âThe work of the eyes is done. Go now and do the heart-work on the images imprisoned within you.â âLove consists of this: two solitudes that meet, protect and greet each other.â âThe purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things.â âThe only journey is the one within.â âFor beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror which we are barely able to endure, and it amazes us so, because it serenely disdains to destroy us. Every angel is terrible.â âAh, how good it is to be among people who are reading.â âMake your ego porous. Will is of little importance, complaining is nothing, fame is nothing. Openness, patience, receptivity, solitude is everything.â âLet life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always.â âWe ignore the gods and fill our minds with trash.â âMay what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children.â âYet, no matter how deeply I go down into myself, my God is dark, and like a webbing made of a hundred roots that drink in silence.â âThink⌠of the world you carry within you.â âHow can I keep my soul in me, so that it doesnât touch your soul? How can I raise it high enough, past you, to other things?â âIt is a tremendous act of violence to begin anything. I am not able to begin. I simply skip what should be the beginning.â âI love you more than the flame that limits the world to the circle it illumines and excludes the rest.â âIt is also good to love: because love is difficult.â âWhen you go to bed, donât leave bread or milk on the table: it attracts the dead.â âYou, you only, exist. To you I belong, however time may wear me away. â âDeath is our friend, precisely because it brings us into absolute and passionate presence with all that is here, that is natural, that is love.â âPlease donât, above all, plant me in your heart. I grow too quick.âÂ
usosamaâ:
Huh?
It wasnât very often that Ouma was truly surprised, but that was a twist he couldnât have seen coming. She was roommates with the real Saihara? There was no way that was a coincidence. After the initial surprise wore off, though, he was immediately back to his cheeky grin.
âNishishi, I guess Iâve been caught! Iâm actually Saihara-chanâs BFF. My name is Kokichi Ouma. Itâs up to you if you believe me or not!â
For the briefest of moments, a ghost of a smirk crossed her lips. No mask, no matter how perfect, was impenetrable. This was something she knew well. It was all a matter of the right word or proof. Just as his grin returned, her own expressionless settled back into place.
âOuma-kun, huh..?â she she mused thoughtfully. It would be easy enough to question Saihara about his connection with Ouma. âI suppose weâll see.â

@lilactheoriesâ âĄâd for a starter
Thereâs a prickling feeling, hairs raising on the back of her neck; the distinct feeling like she might be stared at, or watched. Which, while not terribly bothersome, does serve to make her feel a little self-conscious of herselfâ is it something about her clothes? Are her eyes acting up again? ( She doubts itâs the latter, but she canât help but be concerned anyways; no matter how much she tried to keep them under control, they seemed to slip up when she least expected them to ). Sitting and speculating wonât do much to help her though, soâ
Tentatively, she raises her gaze up from the book sheâd been reading to see another looking back at her; which, at least answers one question. Thereâs a moment, before sheâs scrambling to grab at her belongings ( which sheâd sort of haphazardly strewn everywhere ), speaking while she does that.Â
âD-Did you want to sit here? Sorry, sorryâ I didnât realize how busy it was starting to get around this place!â
Her gaze was known for its cutting edge. More often than not, it seemed as though she was looking through someone rather than looking at them. It was an ingrained habit. It was something that was second nature. Her existence was one that was perpetually wary, guarded. She didnât watch her back. It wasnât as if she was constantly paranoid. Rather, she always conscious of her surroundings. She was adjusting to the city and its apparent peacefulness. Yet, she still couldnât shake innate uneasy.
Nonetheless, she hadnât intend to stare down the other girl. Her thoughts were interrupted as she spoke. âAh, my apologies for staring,â Kyouko spoke as she tucked her hair behind her ear. She stepped forward and settled into the chair opposite of her, â...Thank you, by the way.â

itâs not like he hadnât looked over the files at all. while yes, his focus had been on been any information that could help his classmates achieve the ultimate hope, the profiles of the survivors of the school killing game had certainly caught his attention . ( as had the information about the final trial, for that matter! ) the Ultimate Hopes that had defeated Ultimate Despair⌠his heart thrums, beats far too loud.
âKyoko ⌠Kirigiri-san?â the first nameâs an exclamation, then it makes way to uncertainty. the way itâs said borders on reverence.
he doesnât miss the glance towards his arm, and then the way those lilac eyes studied his smile â komaeda doesnât really mind. anyone talented.. they could do whatever they wanted with him, as long as it was for hope. as it is, he seems rather pleasant right now, though he does seem a little excited. heâs barely keeping it in. Â
âThat is who you are, isnât it?â
The only noticeable change in her expression was the way her eyes narrowed slightly. He seemed familiar to her. As if she should know him from somewhere, for some reason. And it was without doubt that he knew her. Very few people had the ability to call her by name. And typically, such a right was reserved for other detectives, as they all existed within the shadows. The fact he could call her by name was concerning. As was this underlying sensation of unease, just by close proximity. Yet, no emotion was shown still.
â...â
Her mind whirled as she remained silent. The lack of a name to a face, the overwhelming sense that she knew, the uncomfortable tension settling into her heart. This wasnât someone that could just be ignored. And he could have ties to forgotten memories. Kyouko wasnât fond of replying on others. She preferred to keep to herself, work by herself.
âYes... That is me,â she responded, at last. Yet, no further information was provided.

The Sunflower Cafe was somewhere sheâd begun to frequent often. The atmosphere was, perhaps, too sunny for her preferences. Cheerfulness was something that didnât suit Kyouko Kirigiri. Maybe she was out of place here. But the coffee suited her tastes. And one couldnât stay cooped up within the confides of their apartment.
It was busy again. Most seats were taken. Though the ones closest to her remained empty. She supposed she didnât have an inviting presence. Steely gaze, pursed lips. She was like frost, in a sun laden land.
She was messing with her phone, when she caught sight of the young woman out of the corner of her eye. Yet again, someone she didnât recognize. If people were pulled from their lives at random, would she ever encounter someone she knew? A pointless thought to pursue.
âYou can sit here, if you want,â she spoke. While she wasnât necessarily one for conversation, she wasnât as put off by interaction or coexisting with others as people tended to think.

She needed to pass free time one way or another. With no cases to solve and no way out of the city, she was growing restless. Something that hardly suited her. She was trying to push thoughts of her current purposelessness to the recesses of her mind. Kyouko had read through the Sherlock Holmes series gifted to her already, having solved the mysteries before each book ended.
Now, what was she to do?
She found herself at Amaranth Universityâs library. She was scouring through various sections for something to read. Many titles piqued her interest. Many were as strange as the city itself. She was going to be here all day, at this rate. A gloved hand reached for a book at last. Only for another to also reach out.
Kyouko pulled back on instinct. Who could say who went for it first? Lavender eyes trailed from the book to the man. â...You were going to take it, werenât you?â she spoke, offering him the chance to take it.
I said I was alive, but then... business kicked my butt. Nice, nice. Anyway, Iâm back from vacation. So, Iâll be getting to starters/replies from Kyouko and replies from Amami later today!! After I get some sleep. Sorry about that wait!!
I need to get this girl some friends too...
