Shane Boose x Reader – "The Way He Looks at You"
(established relationship, concert experience, backstage moments, soft hotel night cuddles)
---
The venue is buzzing, a low, steady hum that vibrates through your chest. Neon lights flicker above the crowd as fans start to settle in, talking in excited tones, some clutching merch, others already recording with shaking hands. You stand off to the side of the stage, wearing one of Shane’s oversized hoodies—because he always insists you wear it when you're at his shows. “It’s like armor,” he told you once. “That way everyone knows you’re mine.”
The crew’s used to seeing you here by now, tucked just outside the spotlight. You’ve been to nearly a dozen of his shows—but tonight feels different. Maybe because you’ve been apart for two weeks. Maybe because the moment he saw you backstage, he didn’t say a word—just pulled you into the tightest hug and whispered, “Missed you so bad.” His fingers stayed laced with yours long after the hug ended.
The house lights dim, and the crowd roars. You watch from your spot as Shane steps onto the stage, silhouetted by gold. He’s electric—charming, wild, completely in his element. But even in the middle of the chaos, you can see it: his eyes search the edge of the stage. And when they find you, it’s like the rest of the venue disappears. For a heartbeat, he doesn’t move, doesn’t blink. Just grins.
That’s your grin.
That’s your Shane.
He winks—casual, subtle, but for you. Always for you.

You know every word, every note of his set. But tonight, it’s different hearing them live again. You can feel the meaning behind every lyric, especially the songs he wrote while curled up beside you on the couch, absentmindedly strumming his guitar with your legs tangled in his lap.
Halfway through the set, he does something he never used to do—he talks about you to the crowd. Not your name. Just a “someone who makes the world quieter.” Someone who “keeps me grounded when everything feels like too much.”
The crowd cheers like they’re hearing a love song unfold in real time.
Your chest aches—in that soft, good kind of way.
---
Backstage after the concert is a rush of sound and bodies. Crew members, gear rolling past, managers debriefing. But Shane? He bypasses all of it the moment he sees you.
“Hi, baby,” he breathes, pulling you into a hug that lifts you off the ground.
You bury your face in his shoulder, feeling the warmth of him, the heartbeat under the damp fabric of his shirt. “You were incredible,” you murmur.
He presses a kiss to your temple. “Only ‘cause you were here.”
He doesn’t let go of your hand for the rest of the backstage goodbyes. You sit beside him in the car on the way to the hotel, his head resting lightly against yours. He looks tired but peaceful—like your presence alone is enough to calm everything buzzing inside him.
---
The hotel suite is quiet when you walk in, lights soft and golden. He tosses his bag on the floor and stretches with a groan. You know he’s sore—he puts his whole body into performing. But even through the ache, his eyes find you again, warm and a little sleepy.
“C’mere,” he says, tugging his hoodie off and collapsing backward onto the bed.
You grin, slipping off your shoes. “Tired rockstar needs cuddles?”
He pats his chest. “Tired rockstar desperately needs his girlfriend on top of him.”
You climb onto the bed and lay on him gently, your arms resting on either side of his shoulders, head on his chest. He sighs like it’s the first full breath he’s taken all night, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you even closer.
“This,” he whispers into your hair. “This is my favorite part.”
You press a kiss just below his jaw. “Even better than thousands of people screaming your name?”
He laughs, the sound rumbling through your body. “Thousands of people don’t hold me like this.”
You stay like that for a long time. No pressure to talk. Just the feeling of his fingers running up and down your spine. Your legs tangled together. His breath slow and deep.
“You know,” he says softly, “every time I’m out there, I’m looking for you. Doesn’t matter how big the crowd is. I just want to see you, make sure you’re there.”
You smile into his chest. “I’ll always be there.”
He tilts your face up gently, kisses you slow—no rush, no heat. Just warmth. Love. Familiarity. He lingers there, his forehead pressed to yours, his thumb stroking your cheek.
“I love you,” he whispers, like he’s telling you a secret.
“I love you too,” you say, fingers curling into his shirt like a promise.
You fall asleep like that—heart to heart, wrapped in the kind of silence that only comes when two people are exactly where they’re meant to be.
