@liliqus
Gudunn was pissed.
As usual, the Nord was strapped for gold. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but lately she was having ‘issues’ with her creditors. It took over a week for her to find some sort of job, and when a bounty was finally posted, it’s just some goddamn pest control on top of a mountain.
Who even gives a shit about some stupid troll sightings all the way up there anyway?
It took almost half a day, but Gudunn eventually made her the way up to the summit of the mountain, all without finding a single troll. The situation seemed like a good enough reason for her to be a little angry.
How in Oblivion is the job supposed to be done when the Kyne-damned beasts aren’t even really here?
Fortunately, Gudunn’s anger partially subsided the moment she saw the white hairy figure standing in the moonlight. It seemed a little different than most trolls she’s seen, but she wasn’t going to be picky. As long as she brought a troll-like pelt back to town, she’d consider the job done.
Without wasting any time, Gudunn pulled her greatsword from her back and charged forward, aiming for a clean slice through the beasts torso.
Everything around her was white. Cold, hard, and blinding white.
There were only the faintest wisps of the black of the sky peaking through the clouds. Ground and sky blurred together the farther she trudged her way up the mountainside.
She couldn’t really say what possessed her to take this journey through the mountains; it was probably nothing more than an impulse to wander. But as night started to descend, she began to think that maybe there was something more sinister at work; something more bestial, or instinctual.
Eh, it was better to shake such thoughts out of her mind than to linger on them. No good sense in trying to divine a reason. Better to accept that it was what it was.
Liliqus turned her eyes skyward in an effort to distract herself, only to find her gaze linger on the sky for far too long. The gap in the clouds lasted long enough for her to see the cold blinding white of the full moon.
In an instant, she was overcome by a sharp pain pulsing through her entire body. She felt herself keel over, clawing in vain at the snow around her. The sound of her heartbeat drumming in her ears was so loud she almost didn’t hear herself scream. Her limbs snapped and twisted into stretched out imitations of themselves, and she could feel the skin of her cheeks being ripped apart. Everything felt like it was on fire.
And just as soon as it started, the pain was gone. She lay there in the snow, head down and hunched over, breath ragged as ever, but no longer in pain. In fact, there was no longer much of anything going on in her mind except this deep and gnawing hunger that now took precedence over all things. Slowly, her head lifted, and she looked upon the mountain with bleary eyes.
Amidst all the white was something red. Something to eat. Something getting closer. And fast. Not something to eat. Something to kill.
A deep and furious sound rumbled out from her chest and she swiped back at the red thing, only to have her claws catch on a long strip of steel. She snarled, and put her full weight into pushing the red thing away.
