· · · it took a whole lot of convincing from idris, who had the help of the girls, to push lillian to attend this party. normally being dragged into these kinds of things would have been easy, however considering who idris associated with, it didn’t sit well with lillian. she didn’t know much about the birthday girl, or her family. nor did she know the attendees. except for a few who worked in the nypd; her line of work made that possible.
things had been pleasantly nice, besides idris leaving her side for a few moments. but the strawberry blonde had stuck it out, hugging hips with the bar. lillian wasn’t a drinker, period. however that didn’t mead she couldn’t enjoy the virgin beverages and other sweets this party had to offer. it wasn’t until she had heard the sound of shots go off did lillian’s heart sink to the bottom of her chest. her eyes darted all over the room, trying to find idris but instead was met with chaos. people ran screaming in all directions, laughter was replaced with screams. lillian pushed through the crowd trying to find a familiar face.
Idris tried not to look like he was waiting around for her as she pulled up. Of course, waiting for Lillian was the only thing that he could be doing. He watched her walk up to the front door and paused to get her keys. You gonna come in? she asked and Idris didn’t question it. He followed into the house like a puppy, hands still in his pockets as if to look casual.
He followed Lillian into the kitchen and leaned against the counter, finally taking his hands out of his pockets. “How was your day?” He asked, gently shuffling a stack of mail on the counter back into a straight pile. “You look…You look good.”
· · · lillian dropped her bag and keys by the door and removed her shoes in favor of slippers. she didn’t bother to make sure idris got in and shutting the door behind him, knowing fully well he was only a few steps behind her. a tired sigh escaped her as she pulled out advil and a class of water to kill the headache she’d acquired on the drive home.
it wasn’t until she’d taken the pills and drank the whole glass of water that she turned to look at idirs, taking in his appearance. he’d looked fine but she was sure he’d ever be far from fine with whatever he had swarming in his head.
Idris was standing outside of Lillian’s apartment, having just dropped off their youngest after taking her to dinner. Like a sap, the first thought Idris always had when he saw Lillian was that she was beautiful. She had been beautiful the day he’d seen her coming out of math class and would be beautiful until the day she died.
“Katie’s upstairs, getting a head start on her paper. The one for her science class.” He said and slips his hands out of the pockets of his jeans. “I thought I’d wait for you to get home, make sure she wasn’t alone.” What went unspoken was that Idris had waited outside so he didn’t impose on Lillian and that he wanted to make sure Lillian got home safe as well. @lillianmrgan
· · · lillian had noticed him as soon as she had rounded the corner. stepping out her vehicle, she gathered her things. it wasn’t entirely unlike idris to stay, waiting for her to come home. she hadn’t mind. at least not entirely. she often told herself it was just for the kids. the girls alone.
she nodded. trudging up the steps to the front door. it had been a long shift. one that felt like forever. however as passionate as lillian was about her profession, she’d be okay. after all, it was for the girls. fishing for her keys, lillian opened the front door, turning to face idirs.

lillian came from a well off family.
they weren’t rich but they weren’t exactly poor either.
it was in high school she had met idris morgan her now.
the man she would later marry despite her fathers disapproval.
after high school, she went to nursing school to become an icu registered nurse.
she focused on her schooling mostly and eventually her job at the hospital.
when idris had come back from his deployment, they quickly married and had two beautiful girls.
however things weren’t the same with idris. lillian could tell he wasn’t the same boy she had fell in love with back in high school.
they had slowly became distant with one another.
lillian had refused to let it happen at first but when something’s broken, she had learned it wasn’t always fixable.
so one day she had left and took the girls with her. leaving a note that stated she had given up hope that things would work out.
lillian however refused to take the girls away from their father. believing it was the only thing keeping him afloat.
life had stilled for lillian and the girls. it was tough but she had managed. and she was sure if she needed any help, idris was always there. at least for their daughters.
however she refused to ask for any help that didn’t involve their children. the stubbornness in her always prominent.
lillian’s thoughts on her husbands latest gig weren’t positive. not at all.
she believed he was making a grave mistake getting involved with the irish.
which also brings the reality that she’s afraid her girls might get sucked into that life.
her girls mean everything to her and she’d do anything to ensure their safety.
