I drew my self insert OC again. Like one of my other OCs, they are also a jellyfish person. I’ve been calling my jellyfish people “acalephians”, from the outdated classification for jellyfish.

And it’s done! This is one of my OCs. They’re pretty much just me, but as someone from the world of my other OCs

What I’m wondering is how in the heck does the world have a system where wearing differn’t colors shows what job/skills you have?!?!?!!!

Well my theory is  that it started with one skill set

probably the drug trade because well, the drug business is always in business

they probably started wearing there colors so people would know they were selling

and it spread over the course

and with the “business” like network in this dystopian world it probably spread at a quick rate.

What if the investor is Riders father?

It has already been stated that Rider was adopted off the street by his dead mother, that he doesn’t remember his parents, last name, or where he came from.

Like burn and Lilly it is clear he went through the Mecha Gene experiment at a young age to save his life.

The investor for obvious reasons invested a lot of money into the project funding it completely as it seems.

People rarely do that unless the research will, 1. Save the world 2.Save their life

3. Save their child's life

If Rider was dying as I young child it stands to reason that if his parent was loaded he would give everything he had to make sure his precious son would be okay.

Other evidence

1. The investor was enraged when Gigi said she killed a mecha, but calmed down he learned it wasn’t Rider

2. If the investor was searching for Rider it makes sense that he found Gigi along the way

3. He said it wouldn’t do that Gigi’s face was burnt, if his son liked her (for her looks he would assume) it would be bad if she lost them

4. His “minons” write down names, he has them searching for them

5. Burns seems to have met the Investor, and was harsh against Rider when she met him

6. Rider has leadership skills, along with the investor

I love how at the begining of the mecha gene you literally cannot tell Riders or Burns genders. Like you make the assumption that Rider is a girl and Burn is a boy during the fight scene and then two paragraphs later it’s like,

Actually if you read the first three chapters of the Mecha Gene it looks like a pretty stereotypical YA story, You assume Rider and Burn are going to be forced into a relationship with each other like most leads are, they’re running from some people called “the pack” so it looks like a “destroying the ultimate evil” story, and then there’s the “Change” which sounds like a cliche in it’s self. Burn is a “bullet proof super ninja” and doesn’t have any flaws, riders’ snarky and sarcastic and you’re just waiting until he’s “revealed” as the “chosen one”

But then it changes

Burn had issues, and I mean issues. the way she talks about her past and her insomnia makes you wonder what happened to her before she met rider, she fights with a certain style which makes you wonder who trained her, even before the plot twist you know she’s more than just what you see. She always wearing her gloves, she tugs on her necklace and curses in Italian.

Rider doesn’t ever flirt with Burn, he doesn’t stare at her *romantically* when she isn’t looking, he doesn’t make fun of the fact that she’s a girl and doesn’t feel emasculated when she saves his life. in fact it’s never even mentioned that the characters don’t conform to traditional gender roles. He’s scrawny, a wimp and hates the fact that he can’t fight, not because he wants to show off nad be buff, but because he wants to protect those around him, and what happened to him before he met burn? who knows?!

Though he does dream about cliffs

And when Lilly’s introduced? A tiny gay afiracan amercian lessiban artists who plantes flowers nd his searching for her long lost brother, you read that right.

So bascilly you think it’s about a; cliched roamtic subplot, a strong male and wimpy femal, and just a normal YA novel in the first paragraph. Bu then no. Burn saved Riders life, they don’t date, turns out Burn has an unspoken but spoken thing going on with a Lesbian names Lilly, Riders last girlfeined is asexual and it’s only mentioned once and is not a big deal. The pack is corrupt, some people in it are good. Nothing is black and white.

Why don’t people talk about how Lilly literally stole things that had been recently been stolen, because stealing was punishable by death but she was so young they wouldn’t kill her but everyone was to afraid to kick her out because she’ld spill who stole it in the first place and then that person would be punished.

She also flirted with a guard once to get into a business ring with doesn’t sound that impressive until you found it she literally got into one of the most dangerous  bargin rings in america becaUSE SHE PRETENDED TO LIKE PUNK ROCK POETRY.

So I have this theory in relation to the  “Burn can’t read theory”, which is  a pretty common one and is heavily backed up

Reasons pointing towards it.

1.  Riders mentions how Burn looks “confused” at signs on abandoned buildings like she doesn’t understand them

2. Burn literally says at one point “I need to get Lilly to read this to me”

3. we never actually see her write anything

Less concrete reasons;

1: Rider can read “anything” so it would be a plot ploy for strengthening their character comparison

2. Gigi is dyslexia and similar characteristics have been used to draw lines between them, this may be another one.

Reasons against;

1: she speaks a billion languages and it’s hard to learn languages without being able to read (not impossible)

2. It would be incredibly hard for Burn to track people down without the skill

3. She appears educated.

Wich is why I believe Burn can read, just in another language

burn stated that she was raised by her brother after her mother was killed and that he was a scientist so it’s unlikely that he wouldn’t educate her but we’re missing the obvious.

Burn is Italian at least and maybe mixed race and is said to have done a lot of travel, English may not be her first language. so why would she be able to read flawlessly in it.
