Muh ocs Echidna and Von!! Their my current obsession rn...so ima yap about their lore in this post...
So uhh Echidna comes from a species that basically their world's version of orcs, i.e they raid, invade, rape and burn down villages yk, things like that. Echidna, was raised by humans since her mother was assaulted and forced to have her by Echidna's father.
Compared to others in her kind, she's soft spoken and wants to bond with others- since in her childhood, her mother neglected her (she looked just like her dad which reminded her mother of her trauma) and her dad left the picture as soon as he found out she was a girl. So she has abandonment issues and latches onto anyone who shows her a shred of kindness, since most people run when they see her anyways.
NOW TO VON.
He's a harpy mix who recently left his flock to become more independent, while he was hunting for a den- a land dragon nearly got to him before Echidna came in (she was nearby).
Von was startled seeing her at first and was tempted to bolt- until she went over to him and checked for any wounds. When he realized she was passive, and incredibly clingy to anyone who's nice to her. He saw an opportunity, and basically made her his bodyguard. Echidna is just happy to have someone around her, and would do anything to keep their relationship going.
He uses her to scare others into listening and giving him stuff and praises her afterwards (she loves getting praise) and since every other predator seems to avoid anywhere she treads, he's basically guaranteed safe around her. He tries to keep himself emotionally and physically distant but lines start blurring and he starts to break his own rules, though he always blames Echidna for seducing him instead of taking accountability.
