Is the government willing to intervene and save the steal industry?

My understanding of this is limited. In the case of SSI I think that they where a dodgy company that went rouge. They had not done basic things such as paying insurance etc so that was not going to work to well.

Government due to EU rules can not step in till company goes into liquadation anyways.

However it does not make sence that projectssuch as hs2 where not given to English companies, in fact its going to apparently going to use chinise steal.

That was perhaps one way they could help that they did not use.

And its all very well retraining people but when , in my experiance , the training offered is not in qualifications employees actually want in occupations people struggle to find work in anyways its not really helpful.

Its all very well saying that we can rely on car manufacturing but our local car factory was laying people of.

Oh Good point there business lady, if a town relies on one company for work then thats not good, it does need looking at now before situations such as Redcar happen in other areas.

Should the UK be sucking up to a rouge nation for finacial gain?

Yes the money maybe helpful but um its a bit morally dubious.

We pulled out of a deal , rightly, with the saudi's yet we are going into a deal with China who also have a dubious Human rights record.

However I think its more complicated than that. They are developing rapidly and they have skills and opportunities and business that we can benefit majorly from.

Dear Conservatives , my opinion on your proposal for working tax credits is your a bunch of wankers who are just going to grind people into the ground till they will just give up or my personal hope is the people will organise, rebel and get this bunch of wankers out.

I hoping the investigation the DWP are under at the moment will have an impact and make them start to change their ways.

Is sugar tax the answer to the nhs obesity difficuties?

Nope, make healthier food cheeper, educate people from a younger age, stop pumping so called diet foods full of sugar and stop closing our lesuire facilities down maybe more obvious answers first.

Sorry for lack of posts for anyone who missed them, I have been knee deep in job hunting stuff.

However Hurrah I has job so a Blog for the last bbcqt before the summer break.

I may do a political wanker of the week post instead.

Is the chancellors living wage pledge as good as it sounds given tax credit cuts will make people worse off?

Its not brilliant from what I have read.

The living wage only applies for over 25s which combined with housing benefits is a huge slap in peoples faces.

That given the Living wage will not, and it has been independently verified,will not make up for the loss of tax credits.

Nore will it be a living wage by the time its top rate is introduced in 2020. Its based on figures now and will not be correct figures by them.

Personally I was not eligible for tax credits anyways so it does not effect me, the increased wage is a good thing for me as I am about to start a min wage job. If I am still there when this is brought in it would be a significant increase so wheyhey.

Oh Gosh I am agreeing with the UKIP people again. The people who are on tax credits need the help and are going to be struggling like heck and that's not good.

Be interesting to see the crime and unemployment figures and how they are impacted when this bollocks is brought in.

Its giving in one hand and taking with the other.

And its wrong.

I love the SNP guy cos he got it bang on, housing caps wont be considered cos the Tories are looking after the rich.

People like my partner will not even consider university because of the sheer amount of debt that people are leaving with. I had considered going back to university but will not now because of the debt i would leave with.

And I come from a poor family.

Its definitely discouraging people from my area and family.

Young people are being shafted left right and center, its no wonder that they are feeling disillusioned.

Studies have showed that countries that have free education at university do better economically and socially so why saddle people with debt and put people off.

This country is just shit really.

Was Greece right to vote no in the recent referendum effectively showing two fingers to the EU?

I don't know enough about this to form my own opinion on this. From what I understand though that they would be better to leave the Euro, start controlling there own economy, stop funding the eu banks and start using the money to help its own people.

If that's what the country wants then why not let them have a go. The deal they have at the moment is clearly not working for them and so time to try something else.

Who if anyone can lead the labour party to success in 2020?

Out of all the candidates my choice would be Jeramy Corbin. Simply because he would make a good opposition as he is so different from what we have on offer right now. People who defected to greens or UKIP may be tempted back and the votes that went to them this time may be returned in 2020.

I know I could be.

But thats just my two cents.

To be honnest I have not been following this at all so can not offer informed opinions again.

So thats that till September I may or may not pick this back up then, my life is changing so lord knows what I will be doing in September tbh.

Is the Chancellor right to sell RBS shares at a £7bn loss to the tax payer?

So we already had the blame the previous government quip then.

Why do they need to sell it now if its going to be sold at a loss? I am mysterfied despite the explanation.

Banking does need a good old overhaul though that will never happen under conservative rule. Neither will jailing bankers which would give a clear warning to other bankers who were tempted to play that game. Maybe. In my world it would anyways.

Conclusion I don't do maths and am rubbish with money so do not have a clue what this is all about so can not give an answer.

Should 16-17 year olds be allowed to vote in the EU referendum?

YES! Yes they should because at the end of the day its their future that its going to be effected.

If they are allowed to have sex, get married, move out, have a drink with a meal, drive, join the military etc.

Look at Scotland for example. It was not a complete disaster and it had a really high turnout.

People especially young people afaik were getting engaged.

So why not be allowed to vote now.

If you believe the press then yes.

If you believe him then no.

I think there is an element of truth in both sides of the story but we will never know the truth for certain.

Will the northen power house benefit the NE or just suck tallent and finance away?

It will not benefit the NE at all. People move away, sadly the tallented ones will mostly inevitably move away even briefly for better opportunities that are not avaliable here.

We have very different needs from manchester etc and so whatever decisions they make up there will not benefit us down here. We have more in common with Scotland than Manchester tbh.

HS2 is a waste of time that yet again will not benefit us, if it were to it would link up to somewhere like middlesbrough or Newcastle.

We would be further issolated.

I don't think we can. The likes of ISIS will always appeal to subsections of society that do not feel they belong or we have the wrong moral code or whatever.

My rage and anger has made me determined to do what I can to fight their plans to basically screw the most vunerable, the most needy and the country.

Following the Milliband/fallon spat, at what point do the parties stop slinging mud and start selling themselves?

They won't. Its politics and politics at the moment will always have mud slinging. Just look at PMQ'S.

And the conservative lady nicely avoided the question.

And for Labour dOUGLAS aLEXANDER has just scored more points for labour judging by the audiance members.

Trident is an important issue, I personally think it does not need to be replaced to that exstent if at all. And labour may not have all the figures, just like conservatives did not 5 years ago, to make an informed decision on how many they can afford to have.

Anything that gets rid of neuclear, which at the moment would be useless againts the likes of ISIS , is good by me. Neuclear would not be useful against cyber crime, against terrorists recruiting in uk, would have been useless in 9/11 etc.

However back to the question, mud slinging just bores people away from politics in general. They just see all parties as being the same and neither party involved has actually come out of this well. If I had not already decided to vote for greens that would push me towards it.

Was tonight debate a reflection of the chaotic and uncertain government we should expect after the general election?

I actually saw this tonight.

And at times it was chaos. Absolute chaos at times.

The so called fringe parties were the most coherant and engaged and the women leaders definatly came out on top.

To the point that if it was down to personalities I would wish to vote for a coalition of the Greens, SNP and Plaid Cymru's.

However the fringe parties also did a good job at clearly explaining what policies they had where as the main parties (Labour/Conservative) was confused and a bit incoherant.

And if the SNP were to be the deciding factor of labour getting in power then maybe that may be a positive thing for politics in the UK.

That is based on tonight purely so on reflection and with research that opinion may change.

I would rather have a labour snp coalition than a tory ukip coalition. I think a Tory/ UKIP coalition would be an absolute distater for well just about everything and everyone.

Intresting question raised by audiance member-if parties can not even agree within themselves then how can one party rule a country thats literally falling apart at the seems. And that seems to be happening in most parties not just a select few.

Oh Blame Labour time again. And I agree, it seems a tiny bit far fetched to compair is to Greece atthe time.

So they would not form a coalition with the SNP. Well was that not cleared up two episodes ago, by both parties actually.

I hope so. Proportional representation would be a fairer system but unfortunatly we voted against this system last time.

But in all honnesty I do not know. We would have to change the entire political system if it was and I am not sure the country as a whole is ready for that yet.

With Public services stretched to the max do we simply say the country is full?

These questions are tricky tonight.

They are apparently very persusive orators whom offer something that is a tangable alternative that is preferable to life in the UK.

Not that I have actively looked up there videos in the intrest of full disclosure. Nore would I want to.

I suppose another answer is that as a country we have systematically tried to westonise the middle east, sometimes with very good reasons, sometimes not, in ways that were often violent and demonized parts of their culture. Maybe.

Without asking the people who go over I do not think we will ever have a fully comprehensive answer.

If you are all so committed to the NHS, why not establish a multiparty select committee to plan and run it, and stop it being a political football?

Simple, there is too many values and politics at play and until that is resolved a multiparty select committee would never be able to agree on what is best.

Also at a local level commisioning groups, which is meant to be made up of multi establishment members, were kind of supposed to be this.

Also how can they claim success or failure between parties if its run as a multiparty organisation.

But I really do not think I can contribute. Lat time I watched some of them and found it frustrating that it was a case of whom had the same sound bite and did not think in hindsight I learned anything. But they were entertaining.

I do not know how to answer this. At all.

I actually find this an unfomfitable question which is intresting in itself. I wonder why that it.

In my idealised world that will never happen, i think football has lots of people, english people , who could make as good a player as any forign player.

I think with jobs there is a massive skill gap that forign workers can fill, But if English people can do the job then why should it not be offered to a chance to do the job first rather than bring people in from overseas.

And brilliant for the young people being out of neets status. But for the likes of me I am stuck. I can not afford to go back into education , there is no decent training for me, i am not elligible for an apprentaship and well jobs is a bloody nightmare tbh. And I hate it.

Yes Totally acceptable . If I had punched a coworker or a boss in a face, or any form of abuse I would have been sacked on the spo and police would be involved. So why should it be an exception for him just because he is a celebrity.

It should not and the bbc have made the right decision.

He has had way to many warnings etc in the past and it was time he went.

In his budget speech George Osbourne kept telling us we were better off, so why do hard working families no feel that way?

Because people are no feeling better off.

Hah jobs, yeah right, zero hour, part time, temporary jobs , nothing substainable at least not in my area. The jobs that have been created also tend to be low paid and well there not great. Plus also other bills have gone up so we are not feeling the benefit at all, in fact people round here to be worst off.

I agree some savings have to be made but they are making savings in the wrong areas. And people are suffering greatly because of this, cutting benefits, care budgets and councils budgets are just three areas that should not be cut.

Will Self has just summed it up perfectly. Its the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

And none of the main parties seem to be grasping that at all.

I do not think we can totally justify it. I think people are entitled to a fair trial and should be able to give their side. However I also think that they should be treatwith a healthy dose of distrust. They went out there for a reason, perhaps a belief, perhaps coerced who knows, but they have probably aided in some horrible acts of terrorism.

If they are welcomed back to obtain info from them maybe thats a good thing.

I just can't really give a coercive answer.

When people can not afford to buy a house when will the government address the issue of controlling rent price?

Probably never, they can make money off house holders, not so much renters.

There is more demand than supply and whilst they can keep it that way and keep their rich mates in money then they will.

And that sucks.

I can not even afford to rent and that is if I could find a place to rent, social housing waiting lists are rediculously long and people with serious debt issues, the people who do need help renting, are unable to rent due to restrictions placed on them.

Rent controls may not be the answer but its a answer that should be considered.

Because the situation may just explode if something is not done.

Or heres a solution, any empty properties be it house, flat or shop could be converted into affordable places to live.

Why can't mps be more truthful?

in an increasingly uncertain world, is it reckless for government not to commit to a real term increase in defense spending?

huh what now confused I am. There talking numbers that I do not understand.

I am a pacifist but I also want country to be safe, I do not have enough knowledge of this to make an informed comment so I shall wait for next question.

But generally speaking, enough military to keep us safe if needs be but money should be spent on more democratic ways to.

Opinion poles show no party will win an overall majority and that we will have another coalition. Would a Labour/snp coalition be a betrayal to the millions of English voters?

I honestly can not see this happening, a party wanting independence from the UK and a party who has vastly different policies. I think it would be a betrayal to Scottish voters let alone English voters if it would happen.

I do not think thy should have had to apologist. Parents should b aware of what the kids are doing online and if thy are not then why the heck are thy not aware of what kids are doing and who the friends are.

Sending home a letter via the kids may not have been the polices smartest move but there was no guarantee that parents would have seen it if they had posted it to students homes. A general observation from working with that community, a lot of th oldr gnration rely on youngr gnration to translate, i am not saying thats true in this case but could b in another.

Leaders debates:is David Cameron being fearful?

Some would say that, some would say his just trying to cut to the chase.

If he was being fearful he would back out of all debates surely.

But I supose with so many people it is just going to be soundbite city where most people are going to be either I agree with them or their wrong because...

However if he does not want to do them let someone else from the party do it or just have an empty space.

If a large continent of SNP MPS are elected what effect will this have on the UK Parliament?

Wonderfully chaotic especially since the SNP have said they will not work with conservitives in westminster.It will be positive for Scotland as they will have more mps in westminster fighting for Scotland.

Could be good for Labour though. Could be good with greens to as there anti austerity to.

This elections going to be intresting given all the circumstances. If Labour come out on top then SNP can hold them to ramson, scotland has a strong protest vote within the snp and I think that could be important depending on the results.

Audiance member has summed it up, people are confused and looking for clear answers that they are finding with fringe parties.

Do we need stronger laws to prevent hate preaching on campus?

Isn't it already illegal so if thats the case why are laws not preventing that already?

Seriously though if we ban it people will get it from other sources and make a bigger rebellion, at least on campus and other sources authorities can keep an eye on whats being said and counter it out with educating people on both sides of the issue.

Why are Scotland's A AND E missing their waiting time targets so badly?

Same as reasons in England, too many people not enough resources or resources not being used in the best possible way.

Social care is in chaos making the nhs in chaos.

Nhs has no oney to invest in making services better.

People are getting older so have more medical needs.

Getting a GP appointment is harder than getting blood out of a stone.

Walkin centres are being closed.

No emphasis on prevention which puts the emphasis on public looking after themselves.

If your having a second job then you can not be doing your best ability to represent the people who voted you in.

But if the job is linked to being an mp or is serving the public then fine. Like if an mp is also in a position where skills need to be kept up to date, e.g medical profession or teacher etc then the job can help the community then thats fine on a just enough to keep relevent level.

I also think that a job like that can keep people in touch with the real world. The labour lady has done good there though.

Both. They got on the planes as victums of brain washing or wanting glory or whatever but now their probably terrorists. And thats a shame but not unsuprising. ISIS is a slick organisation whom seem to be well organised and motivated around a common goal, that can offer a place to belong when young kids are looking for that. Not saying its the right choice for them, its definatly not but when we seem to be struggling to engage with young people in general, when we can not offer them a secure future, when youth unemployment is at a high etc its not suprising kids are drawn into that.

Start engaging with kids properly, get there prospects looking brighter, make this countryrelevent to them, offer them better alternatives and you can stop kids looking at isis as the better alternative.

WE CAN'T.

Its a synical ploy to get the gray vote, and the sadthing is it appearsto work.

if child benefit can be means tested why can't winter fuel payments?

Or why can't bus passes be issued to young people struggling to get to work or education.

Or make it so people can opt out of receiving them, i know from experiance old people will not go after something they do notfeel they are entitled to so why can we not do itthat way.

Is vanilla tax avoidance morally acceptable because everyone does it?

Well first of all what the heck does that mean?

But basically the way I see it is if im forced to pay my tax back for something that is not my fault then why should they be able to get away with it?

Or is it one rule for the working class slob and another for the Rich lords?

Bit hypicritical really.

And the conservative is babbling really. Isa's are a legal saving option, off shore tax avoidance banking is not.

And erm dont we already have a way of slinging tax avoiders in front of the court, but we dont use it!

And I do not do it. I have no idea how to do it and even if I did I wouldn't. Why? Because despite how shit England may be I like feeling I am contributing to my society even in a small way.

And I don't get a choice but to pay my tax, why should the rich.

And heres an idea. Do not let bankers and similar be able to donate to political parties, that way they can not use their influence to dodge tax. Clean up the donation system and we can start to clean up politics in general.

Okay briefly looked it up, So it seems okay in theory but with so many big issues still not resolved is it really going to be effective?

I suppose its a talking point and it may peek peoples intrest and get people in to inital discussion. But what then?

Good for them for having a go but I am not certain it would attract myself in. But people like my girly work mates would be attracted by it.

However my workmates are just not engaged in politics but the younger folk around me are, they are just so confused and baffled by the issues.

Lose the jargon and dullness, get more younger people and women out there campaigning and more visable and stop the middle aged toff white man syndrome kicking in.

Nhs a+e is full of patients that are trivial or self inflicted, should they be charged for this?

Hum so heading towards the USA system. No thanks? At least not with A+E.

Keep the NHS free as possible.

Oh God Ukip is the most organised sounding party atm, not great.

Plus how do you charge? Drunkiness? But a person can seem drunk when ill. Self Harm? Already have mental issues and charging them could make that worse eventually causing more expense to the nhs.

Its not people turning up that are the issue. Its lack of proper structures in place. Get social care sorted and that stops some of them cases, get gp appointments systems sorted so we can get to see gps, get mental health services sorted and the mental cases drop, get more walk ins open, improve 111, have a proper triage system in place, employ more staff. Its not exactly rocket science really but it would make a huge difference.
