Drowning

Drowning in a pool with no water,

Unable to climb out.

Eating away at my skull

Like insects feasting on the forgotten.

Suspended in a space

That exists only inside my head,

I’m screaming internally,

My lungs aching for air

That was never stolen—

Only forgotten.

Every memory becomes another hand

Without ever moving.

How do you escape

So I keep drowning
