Baby Blues ||
The movie started and Trenton doing his best to keep up, he let his mind wander a bit as he felt the weight of Tessa on his chest and the warmth of Lily rolling over him from her spot next to them. God, it could have been like this since day one. If heâd been given a proper chanceânot Lilyâs fault in the least bit honestlyâand if heâd been less of well, a complete cliche rock star, they would have had this the entire time. Thereâd only be the excuse of his career in the way when he missed things but heâd have been around for a hell of a lot more than he had. Letting himself imagine them as a solid family unit and not just the best friend mother and daughter with the sometimes around fatherâŠit hurt. In a good way.
Trying to phase back into the movie, it was a bit later that Lilyâs voice reached the ears trying to learn more of the soundtrack. His lips curled upwards but he didnât answer right away nor even look away from the screen yet. Olaf was on the screen and Trenton was learning he didnât want to miss a second of the snowman. Finally, he tilted his head slightly, moving his gaze away from the screen and resting his blue eyes onto Lily careful not to nudge Tessa at all. âYouâre a better mother.â He replied just as quietly, the look in his eyes and the smile tugging at his lips soft. A far contrast from the normal hardness when speaking to Lily.
Lily couldn't do anything but grin when Trent told her that she was a good mother. Sure, she'd always thought she was, considering that she based her parenting abilities off of how happy Tessa seemed with her life, but to actually hear Trent say it was an entirely different story, especially considering she figured that he thought she was pretty much the worst person in the world. Maybe he still did - she wouldn't blame him for it. They could both have some shitty moments, that much was for sure.Â
There wasn't really much that Lily could think to say, because thank you didn't quite seem like enough - so instead she opted for grinning ridiculously and probably staring for a little bit too long - but who would blame her? Her inner teenager was flailing from both getting along with Trent once again and sharing a bed with him, even though this time around it was completely innocent.
"I think we should try to figure out a way for you to be around more," Lily said suddenly, glad that Tessa was beginning to drift back to sleep so she didn't unintentionally excite the little girl and get her hopes up for something that might not happen. "I mean... yeah, she'd definitely love Skyping with you more often, but I think she'd much rather see you in person. Some of the other guys have kids, how do they manage it?" she asked him, truly wondering just how they did find time for it all. There had to be a way somehow or another, right?
