here’s how natasha pierre & the great comet of 1812 can still sweep
I just know Yuna (and David) were so happy when Ilya moved to Ottowa to play for the centaurs because he's so near and now she can feed him whenever she wants. The same way they do with Shane while he's at the cottage, Yuna will drop off food for Ilya at his place. Some days they'll just pop over and bring dinner to eat with him, but some days he gets home late from practice/a game and other days, when she knows he's having a hard time and doesn't necessarily want company, there will be a sack at his doorstep with a little note that reads "For our boy" or "For our Ilya. Love, Yuna and David" with a little heart and instructions on how to heat it up if needed. David typically makes the food, always making sure to make Ilya's favorites on those harder days and Yuna makes sure to drop a little sweet in there every time as well. Typically a couple of her jam thumbprint cookies (that she usually only makes at christmas but Ilya loves them so he's her exception to the rule.)
And not just meals either, they'll see he got injured in a game or took a nasty fall and she'll bring over some groceries, some medicine, a couple heating pads, some muscle relief gel. All of the things she had provided Shane with over the years to make sure he can take it easy over the next few days. And better believe she (and David) are ready to plop down on that couch next to him the minute he alludes to wanting some company. They watch Shane's games together and she fusses over him even though it's the same knee he has sprained three times, he allows her to. David watches on in amusement, knowing Ilya is trying to appease her and he couldn't love the kid more for it.
lifes so hard
its not my fault that old man has raw sex appeal
Heated Rivalry, p. 75
i think he's handling things really well.
Favorite part of the entire episode!!!!!
when you're feeling full hater mode about a piece of media but you know one of your beloved mutuals enjoys it
this one goes out to everyone old enough to be watching heated rivalry like 🤩😅🤤😬
The Cens are in the locker room after a pretty light practice, the season not yet in full swing, and the topic turns to married life, as it often does.
Ilya and Shane mostly stay quiet, giving each other pointed looks when Bood and Wyatt swap stories about their fucking awesome wives. That is until…
“Yeah but like, Roz and Hollzy have the most ideal situation.”
There’s a mix of eyebrow raising and general murmurs of agreement, half of the team unsure if this is Holmberg’s way of coming out.
“What do you mean?” Shane asks, ever one to ignore a social rule.
“You spend all day together kicking ass and being the best at hockey, and then you get to go home together and be and love and shit but also still talk hockey.” Holmberg sighs and stares into his locker a little wistfully. “I wish I was gay so I could have a hockey husband.”
The team is quiet for a minute, some of the younger members nodding in sage agreement. Bood even looks like it’s an intriguing idea.
“Why don’t you date a PWHL player?”
Wyatt says it with it much fuss, shoving his pads into his bag unceremoniously. Holms, however, looks like he’s just been struck by lightning.
“Say that again.”
Wyatt turns to the kid, eyebrows raised like he’s confused by the reaction.
“You know that the PWHL exists, right?”
Holmsberg is too thunderstruck to scoff.
“Yeah. The Charge. They’re…oh my god.”
And thus starts the social media scrolling to figure out which Charge players are 1) single, 2) in Holms age range, and 3) into men
Yes, Ilya's possessive of Shane, he loves that Shane gives himself over to Ilya in a way no one else can have but, more importantly, he loves being Shane's. He loves the way Shane never lets him carry his own bags (though Ilya still makes sure to complain about it plenty). He loves the way Shane will gently adjust his position on the couch so that Ilya can curl up on his chest and the way he absentmindedly cards his fingers through his curls, even when he's distracted. He loves the way Shane takes care of him when he's sick, how he refuses to just let Ilya push through it and makes him lie down, brings him a cold compress and hot soup and takes his fever, running his hands through Ilya's sweaty hair calling him "sweetheart" and "poor baby." He loves how jealous Shane gets at the smallest thing, he loves how huffy he gets, how it's the only time he'll really instigate public displays of affection, and how it's born out of a need to stake his claim. Ilya would happily help him along with that goal but Shane had shot down his very reasonable idea of getting property of Shane Hollander tattooed on his thigh (though not before they fucked about it). He loves being buried in Shane's body, thrusting slowly into him and whispering "yours" until Shane, blissed out and writhing beneath him, confirms it. "Mine."
"The sex tells the story, so it never felt gratuitous to me. The sex is character development. The sex is what is moving this relationship forward, and watching it change over time."
