Sapphire Books celebrates the signing of debut author, Lily R. Mason
June 24th, 2018
Salinas, CA. - Sapphire Books, the award-winning publisher of quality lesbian writing, celebrates the signing of debut author, Lily R. Mason and her debut novel, Hearts Inn scheduled for a November 15th release.
Lily R. Mason started writing fan fiction for Louisa May Alcottâs Little Women when she was eight years old. Since then, sheâs written everything from plays to poetry to trauma treatment protocols to novels to grant applications; the only written art to stump her to date is Twitter.
Lily has written books in a variety of genres, including her debut coming-of-age novel, Taking the Long Way, and its follow-up domestic drama, Me and You and Daisies. She explored multiple realities in Wherever the Dandelion Falls, and immersed herself in months of research for her historical fiction YA novel, Lilies of the Bowery, which was named one of the top five Lesbian YA Books of 2015 by AfterEllen. She was a featured presenter at ClexaCon 2017 where she gave a lecture on the difference between smut, sex, and love scenes in fiction.

Rosalie Campbell is bequeathed a rundown hotel in rural New Mexico in her grandmotherâs will. She arrives to discover a dried-out shell of a place that barely makes enough money to stay afloat. In a state of limbo with her girlfriend and accounting job in Philadelphia, Rosalie is keen to sell the hotel and go back to the comfort of her urban life. When new information about her grandmother surfaces and the hotel proves difficult to sell, Rosalie tries to attract buyers by restoring the building to its former glory with the help of Alex Ecker, a local handywoman. In the process, Rosalie learns a few things about hotel management, hard work, and opening her heart.

The characters in my novels are my own unrealised possibilities. That is why I am equally fond of them all and equally horrified by them. Each one has crossed a border that I myself have circumvented.

Lilies of the Bowery by Lily R. Mason
After an arduous voyage from Napoli in the summer of 1914, eighteen-year-old Joan Passerini arrives in New York City with her mother and brother in hopes of building a better life. Finding neither the milk or honey America had promised, Joan is quickly disenchanted with the city; the heat and noise and poverty are oppressive, and her father, who journeyed ahead to find work and accommodations, is nowhere to be found.Â
Tucked into a disorganized laundry, Joan meets an unlikely companion named Paloma Morello, who is as secretive as she is beautiful. As Joan develops an intense attraction to her, she discovers that though things arenât always as they seem, all love is sanctuary.
Genres: contemporary, romance
