Grow flowers, care for cats, and manage a restaurant!
stunning
Oh.
Oh.
So gentle.
do you know what I really hate? early morning culture. the misconception that getting up early is inherently better than sleeping in. that people who stay in bed longer than 8 am are lazy and have an unhealthy life rhythm and that apparently theyĀ āmiss the best part of the dayā. that causes so much unnecessary shame and guilt, especially in young people whose inner clock doesnāt work that way - scientifically proven, teenagers canāt reach their mindās full potential before 10 am. And more generally speaking: why should we care if someone gets up at 10 or 11 am and goes to bed far after midnight? I would get so much more shit done if I wouldnāt feel so guilty for staying up late and sleeping in.Ā
100000% this.Ā Also Delayed Sleep Phase DisorderĀ is a thing. But mostly just yes.
One of my dadās favorite studies to quote is one about the productivity of early risers and night owls. The study found that the only difference between the two groups was thatĀ āone is a lot more smug about it.ā

If youāre not ready to fight an alligator over your best friend dont even think about coming to Florida
Apex predators
Yooooo
Florida culture is living in a real life Jurassic park yet being more scared of the local people
TBF, you would be too if youād ever met Florida Man
Hopefully this doesnāt burst anybodyās bubbles, but the videoās fake (https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/did-man-save-friend-from-reptilian-attack/)
Now, by fake I mean: the alligator wasnāt real, it was put there as a prank by some Youtubers, to record peopleās reactions. So the guy a) survived, and b) reacted as he would (AKA: fought a fucking alligator to save his friend) had it been real, because neither of them knew it wasnāt.
To quote Snopes:Ā It appears that the āelbow dropā move was actually a real, good-faith, and quite courageous response to an uncomfortably realistic and relatively low-effort prank
Ok but likeā¦. that still doesnāt change the fact that this absolute legend genuinely thought an alligator was about to eat his friend and he ELBOW DROPPED the fucking thing to save him!!!! Thatās some true ass friendship right there
No people or animals got hurt, guy got to try and elbow drop an alligator, and his friend got to find out just how ride or die his friend is. As far as Iām concerned this makes the whole thing better.

A male colleague was making fun of the #metoo movement a few days ago, and many more (Iām one of 5 women in a department of 200 men) joined in. So I raised my voice and said I was glad women were speaking up about sexual harassment and assault and that I hoped that everyone who perpetuated this toxic behavior got taken down.
āYeah but itās a trend now, lots of them are just saying it for their 15 minutes of fame.ā He then continued to say that he didnāt know anyone who had been harassed or any man who had done it.
I asked him if he had a daughter. He did. I asked him how old she was. She was was 17. I told him Iād bet my rent money that his daughter had experienced sexual harassment.Ā
āThatās impossible.āĀ
āDid you ask her?āĀ
āNo.āĀ
āWell then, do it.ā
The next day, he came in the office with five bouquets of flowers for all the women in our department, including me. He publicly apologized for making fun of sexual harassment and for making our lives harder by doing so. He said that he simply hadnāt known how widespread it was. Apparently, his daughter deals with it very regularly. She hadnāt told him because of the way he spoke about assault cases that were on the news. She thought heād think less of her if sheād mention it. It was her idea that he should make a public announcement. He said he felt like a bad father.Ā
I said:Ā āYou were. Same goes for everyone who laughed with you. Be better, now you know better. And educate other men that still think the same way you did yesterday. And next time someone tells you about an experience they have, donāt automatically assume that because you havenāt seen it, itās not true. That kind of willful ignorance is why we still deal with this shit.ā
He also offered to pay my rent as that was part of the bet, but I told him Iād rather have him put effort in being a person his daughter and wife could be proud of.Ā
In conversation the other day my mom stopped and asked my dad about what percentage of women he thought had experienced sexual harassment. He said about 20-30% maybe. My mom told him that both of us had been harassed multiple times at work (same goes for both of her sisters) and that she had actually been assaulted by a groper on a public bus. I have never seen anyoneās face go slack so quickly before as he realized that literally every woman in his family had experienced this. And while Iām glad he believed us and has changed his view on that subject I still canāt shake the frustration, the anger, that it required being sat down and spoonfed these incidents that we didnāt particularly wanted to relive. This is something that women have been saying for years, but men just never listen. Not even when theyāre forced to sit in mandatory harassment in the workplace training seminars.
this post needs more attention
Even guys who try to be aware of this kind of thing and who wouldnāt dream of participating in the behavior or in laughing about it donāt quite understand what itās like. I was in an office once with three young women and two very liberal guys who I would consider active feminists. I mentioned to the other women to watch their back when working late because some guy had blocked my car into our parking lot with his the night before and Iād run back into the building and locked myself in until I was sure he was gone and not just lurking in the side lot.
And the guys were just shocked and appalled that this had happened, and asked if anyone else had experienced anything like that (my boss was clearly considering involving the police or talking to the building owner about a night guard or something), and what followed was the rest of the day being taken up by our recent stories of sexual harassment that had these two guys just slack-mouthed and stunned. Especially by the stories of the one black woman in the office, who, let me tell you, had some heinous tales to tell.
So, hey, white women (and white everybody)? Knowing how clear it is that men donāt understand what we go through because they donāt actually see it happen very often since they arenāt the target? Maybe pay extra attention when your non-white friends mention some of the shit they have to deal with that you donāt actually see very often, because the same effect happens there.

Stop dating abusive women 2018
Hardly any women are gonna reblog this tbh š
A lot of women behave like this and think this aināt abuse
But let a nigga slap them, damage their clothes and pour a drink on them, all hell will break loose.
EVERYONE CAN BE A VICTIM OF DOMESTIC ABUSE!
Buddy has the soul of an angel and composure out of this world
Just in case anyone wants the context: He has been making music in Chicago, he recently performed to a large audience and met London on da track, who offered him an opportunity in LA. She didnāt want to leave Chicago because of her business there. He told her that she doesnāt have to go, he just needs to do this for his music. She got upset because he straight up told her that he valued his career over their relationship and she did this.Ā
Now Iām not a relationship expert, but I will never understand how some of yāall expect people to put you above the shit they have to do. Always put your career, your job, your livelihood first. This was all kinds of fucked up, really fucking abusive and manipulative, he should definitely go to LA with or without her.Ā
Many women *WILL* reblog this, because part of feminism is acknowledging that women are just as capable of being abusive as men. Acting as though women cannot be abusive is misogyny, and relies on the misogynist tropes that women are frail, and innocent in comparison to men. Any true feminist must acknowledge that neither of these things are necessarily true and that a woman is in fact capable of being abusive whether itās to another woman, a man, or a nonbinary person. The reason we focus on abuse from men towards women is that it is more prevalent, and institutionally encouraged, justified, and allowed without consequence, while a woman evenĀ ātalking backā to a man is to beĀ āput in her place.ā Donāt bring your weak, fragileĀ āFew women will reblog thisā shit up in here. We know what abuse looks like when we see it.
this is so fucking funny
reminder that 30 isnāt old, itās very normal to not accomplish everything in your 20s, and that it is never too late to learn that thing youāve always wanted to learn. youāre always growing. thatās a good thing.Ā
Who the hell accomplishes everything in their 20s? Who made that a thing?
I was 48 when I started my apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist. I was 50 when I married the love of my life.
Youāve got time.
I needed this right now. Iāve got time!!!
A lot of people ask me what my biggest fear is, or what scares me most. And I know they expect an answer like heights, or closed spaces, or people dressed like animals, but how do I tell them that when I was 17 I took a class called Relationships For Life and I learned that most people fall out of love for the same reasons they fell in it. That their loverās once endearing stubbornness has now become refusal to compromise and their one track mind is now immaturity and their bad habits that you once adored is now money down the drain. Their spontaneity becomes reckless and irresponsible and their feet up on your dash is no longer sexy, just another distraction in your busy life. Nothing saddens and scares me like the thought that I can become ugly to someone who once thought all the stars were in my eyes.
this fucks me up every single time
I never expected this to be my most popular poem out of the hundreds Iāve written. I was extremely bitter and sad when I wrote this and I left out the most beautiful part of that class.
After my teacher introduced us to this theory, she asked us, āis love a feeling? Or is it a choice?ā We were all a bunch of teenagers. Naturally we said it was a feeling. She said that if we clung to that belief, weād never have a lasting relationship of any sort.
She made us interview a dozen adults who were or had been married and we asked them about their marriages and why it lasted or why it failed. At the end, I asked every single person if love was an emotion or a choice.
Everybody said that it was a choice. It was a conscious commitment. It was something you choose to make work every day with a person who has chosen the same thing. They all said that at one point in their marriage, the āfeeling of loveā had vanished or faded and they werenāt happy. They said feelings are always changing and you cannot build something that will last on such a shaky foundation.
The married ones said that when things were bad, they chose to open the communication, chose to identify what broke and how to fix it, and chose to recreate something worth falling in love with.
The divorced ones said they chose to walk away.
Ever since that class, since that project, I never looked at relationships the same way. I understood why arranged marriages were successful. I discovered the difference in feelings and commitments. Iāve never gone for the person who makes my heart flutter or my head spin. Iāve chosen the people who were committed to choosing me, dedicated to finding something to adore even on the ugliest days.
I no longer fear the day someone who swore I was their universe can no longer see the stars in my eyes as long as they still choose to look until they find them again.
This is so fucking important and I think itās something I needed right now
