Feeling a wee bit salty this morning, so let's talk Starmora and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. I have seen some critics refer to the relationship in this film as a metaphor for falling out of love. I strongly disagree. That would imply there had been a breakup of some sort, a separation that was voluntary on at least one of their parts.

That's not what happened.

Those critical of Peter Quill claim that he is a boyfriend who "refuses to let go" and is "clingy" or "harassing" an ex-girlfriend.

That's not what happened.

Gamora was murdered by her father. There was no breakup. There was no "I'm doing my own thing, bye." It was murder.

The Gamora running around Volume 3 is time-displaced. She doesn't know Peter, she doesn't know her Guardians family. She simply doesn't have those memories. She understands on an intellectual level Peter's attachment to her (she'd been told about their relationship by Nebula) but not on an emotional level.

That Peter sees a doppelganger (which Freud positioned as a fear of death btw) of his lost girlfriend, someone with whom he was in a years long relationship, and is understandably frazzled. He pursues because he hopes, though he is ultimately doomed to failure.

If my husband died violently and then somebody walking around with his face showed up who had almost all his past memories except the ones of our relationship I don't think I'd be all sane and rational about it. Most people wouldn't, but some out there don't want to allow that grace.

Their story is not about failing out of love. It is about grief and acceptance in the face of sudden and sometimes violent death. It's about entertaining the fantasy of a second chance and then letting it go.

(Still one of the best lines in the film)

ohh that's kinda easy. any au (rivals/any classics like college au is also good i'm kinda weak for them) or a proper fix-it of mcu bs where thor never left quardians. or at least if he'd left, they'd have met on earth. or just their adventures but with hurt/comfort stuff post-thanos 'cause this whole i've-been-dead-for-5-years trauma was behind the scene for peter and i hate it this is what i can come up with in a minute

How do you feel about Kragdu (Kraglin/Yondu?)

i kinda see the vision... i've read a few fics where they were together (not as the main ship). but the thing is, one tv show ruined my perception of kraglin (the actor). now whenever i look at him or hear/read his name, all i think about is that-one-scene. xd

i still think he's a great background character tho (he's an OC right?)
