As I said in my previous post I have a warriors fanfic in the works! I’m quite passionate about it so I’m going to do a little introduction to the world and some of the characters! Btw the Blue Ridge Mountains are in western North Carolina, USA. At least that’s where I associate them.
The title is The Coyote’s Call
This is gonna be a long one, brace yourselves.
A group of cats led by Moon settled in a valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The group then split into three clans. Pineclan, Moorclan, and Lakeclan.
Pineclan territory is full of fir and evergreen trees. The cats are big and have long fur. They are friendly and always try to keep the peace.
Moorclan territory is open and littered with shrubs. The cats are small, fast, and lithe. They are hard workers and are very disciplined.
Lakeclan territory is a forest with multiple rivers and waterfalls, with a lake to one side. The cats have muscular bodies and thick fur that sheds water like a duck. They are easily aggravated and are hostile towards outsiders.
The leaders are Ferretstar of Pineclan, Wolfstar of Moorclan, and Littlestar of Lakeclan.
In the middle of these territories is a clearing with an ancient weeping willow called the Moontree. It has a large hollow space under its roots. To speak with Moonclan cats touch their noses to one of the three roots that are in the middle of the hollow, each representing a clan. At gatherings leaders climb into the limbs of the Moontree while deputies sit at the roots. The rest of the clans gather around the tree.
The main clan we focus on is Pineclan, it being the clan our main characters are in and all.
The leader is Ferretstar, a black shecat and one of the adoptive mothers of Redmoon.
The deputy is Petalbreeze, a calico shecat and the other adoptive mother of Redmoon. She also mentors Redmoon during his apprenticeship.
The medicine cat is Berrywish, a grey and white tom who’s very new to his job.
One of our main characters is Redmoon. He’s a brown tabby tom with amber eyes though they look more red. He was a kittypet before his owners abandoned him in the woods, now he’s a Pineclan warrior. He is a pov character.
Another main character is Mothlight. She’s a blind white shecat. Her blindness never stopped her from being a successful fighter and hunter. (it’s realistic bc cats use their whiskers to figure out a lot about their surroundings) She’s a pov character.
Another main character is Birdbranch. She’s a tortie who is possibly the most traumatized cat I’ve made. I feel bad for her. I really do. Her brother is Vinetail.
The last of our main characters is Vinetail. He’s a black tom with a long tail. His sister is Birdbranch.
The last major character is Omen. They are a black Maine coon who can talk to Moonclan in their dreams. They are part of a group of rouges who are involved with the clan’s drama for some reason. The prologue is their pov.
Just gonna quickly mention me and my cat’s insert characters. His character is Talonstrike, Birdbranch and Vinetail’s younger brother (one of three) he’s blind in one eye and has a slightly shorter tail. (My cat lost his eye from infection) my character is Mousesong, the sibling of Mothlight’s mom. They’re nothing special except for being a ragdoll (my favorite cat breed)
Other important characters from Pineclan are Goosefern (Mothlight’s mom), Brindleleaf (Mothlight’s stepparent), Snailwatcher and Sagewhisker (Birdbranch and Vinetail’s parents)
Important characters from other clans are Cloudrunner of Moorclan (Mothpaw’s estranged father), Foxberry of Lakeclan (one of the reasons Birdbranch is traumatized), Shellflower of Lakeclan (not important I just hate her, she abandoned her kits just to follow the cat who wanted to take over the whole forest) Poppyspot of Lakeclan (also not important but I love her, she took in Shellflower’s kits even though she’s an elder. Also before she took in the kits she helped the medicine cat because there were no other elders and she was lonely. She based off my grandma)
Anyways on to the basics of the first act of the plot and then you’re free of me lol.
Omen is talking with Moonclan one random night when the former leader of Pineclan, Glacierstar, delivers a prophecy. “Four cats, one chosen by the moon, one that can only see the light, one with a heart full of ambition, and one with loyalty divided. Together they will snatch the forest from the jaws of greed.” He also says to go find these cats as Omen can help them. They wake up and the prologue is over.
Buddy, a kitten, is taken to the woods by his owners, a couple who got him for their young daughter. He is left by a willow tree and is found by a Pineclan patrol (Petalbreeze, Vinepaw, and Vinepaw’s mentor) He is taken back to the camp and meets Mothpaw and Birdpaw. He is welcomed into the clan and begins his apprenticeship as Redpaw. The next morning he goes on a patrol with Petalbreeze and his friends. While near the Lakeclan border they are attacked by three warriors and an apprentice (Foxpaw, Shellflower, and two others) they defeat the other patrol. Soon after there is a gathering and Lakeclan accuses Moorclan of stealing prey. A few days after the gathering Lakeclan attacks Moorclan and Pineclan steps in to help Moorclan. Birdpaw is injured in the battle but instead of resting they start sneaking out at night. After all this chaos one of the most unfortunate things happens, a pack of coyotes move into the hollow beneath the Moontree.
And that’s where act one ends! :3
I’m going to give you guys a taste of the story so here’s the prologue in its entirety!
Omen opened their eyes, looking around the moonlit clearing. Through the trees they could see glimpses of starlit fur and glowing eyes.
“Omen, welcome back.” Said a blueish-gray tabby with shining blue eyes.
“Glacierstar,” Omen purred. “It’s always good to see you.” Glacierstar stepped into the clearing, his fur glittering like the night sky.
“I have a message for you,” His expression shifted, into what Omen couldn’t tell. “You will soon come across cats that are destined to save their home from tyranny, help them.” His eyes went blank as he stared off into nothing, he was about to deliver a prophecy.
“Four cats, one chosen by the moon, one that can only see the light, one with a heart full of ambition, and one with loyalty divided. Together they will snatch the forest from the jaws of greed.” The voice that said the prophecy was not Glacierstar’s alone, it sounded as if all of Moonclan spoke at once, thundering words that seared themselves into Omen’s brain. They shook off the incoming headache, stars filled their eyes and everything became very glittery.
“How am I supposed to help them?” They asked, but Glacierstar was already turning away.
“That is up to you to figure out.” He paused, turning back to Omen. “Actually, there is one thing I can tell you. Go towards the setting sun, once you find the weeping willow with no water near it you’ll know that you’re in the right place.”
Omen nodded and Glacierstar turned and walked away, his paws not leaving any marks on the grass and the shimmering stars in his fur blinking out. He faded into the forest and and Omen was alone.
