PALS, I need your help.
I was in Forever 21 today and my magnet would not get this tag off. Itās obviously not a gator or hook tag, so Iām guessing my magnet isnāt strong enough. Iāve never once had a problem getting a tag off (I have this magnet). And I couldnāt get any of the tags off that looked like this, so it isnāt just stuck or something.Ā
Luckily the alarms go off once every 5 seconds at this store and no one bats an eyelash, so I felt okay walking out with the tag still on. The alarm didnāt go off when I walked through, though.
So anyway, any input appreciated:
Do I need to get a stronger magnet if I want to get these tags off?
Do these tags not trigger alarms, or was I just lucky the alarm didnāt go off when I walked through with it?
How do I get this off now? Should I freeze it and try to force it off? I have some fairly heavy duty crafting wire cutters, will they cut through the pin?
Okay that last Ulta haul that totaled $337, itās still blowing my mind that such a small amount of stuff costs that much money. I was planning to conceal maybe half of this in the blind spot, then ditch the tote and bail. But literally no SA even looked at me or the other 3 customers the whole time I was there (this was around 7:00, Monday night)... so fuck it, I took the whole thing.Ā

Before: I would nab my roommateās loose change to buy a bag of stale plain bagels and cream cheese to eat for the week.

Aw I'm so bummed. My mom just texted me asking if we can go shopping tomorrow for a job interview she has next week. But she said, "We'll have to find something super cheap since I don't have much money." And I'm just like ššā¹ļø MA, PLEASE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR CLOTHES. LIKE, EVER. I'd love to lift some clothes for her but a) I don't know what size she is, b) she's really picky, and c) she knows I'm a poor college kid and wouldn't let me "pay" for anything for her. Ugh.

FELLOW COLLEGE LIFTERS:
Anyone have experience lifting textbooks/any type of book from ur college bookstore? mine seems so easy, has maybe 2 cameras but of course has towers. Today kids kept beeping while leaving the store after buying books and i checked the books and i canāt find a single tag?! wtf sets those towers off? iām not tryna pay $1000 for textbooks imma use 1 semester but i also aināt tryna get caught and expelled.
Iāve only lifted one textbook from my schoolās bookstore but I was so paranoid. I walked in holding a binder like I was stopping by on my way to class or something. I put the textbook I needed on top of the binder and then wandered around a little more, then casually put the binder and book in my messenger bag like I was tired of carrying it. It made me really nervous because even if I didnāt get caught at the time, it wouldnāt be hard to find me (my schoolās fairly small). I also didnāt have $210 to drop on a fucking book I literally needed. I've never seen any of my textbooks tagged.
My plan for this upcoming semester is to lift the textbooks I need from another universityās bookstore. I feel like itās much less risky - there isnāt a student photo of my face in their system, and I canāt get expelled from a university I donāt go to.

So Iāve never really lifted shoes before. Mostly because I really donāt like on floor concealing, unless itās someplace like Michaelās with glaring blindspots and employees who donāt acknowledge you. But I went to a DSW today that Iād never been to before, and they had a huge blindspot so I went for it. I took like 5 boxes to the blind aisle and tried them all on, then put these two pairs of flats in my bag and put all the boxes back. I put the empty boxes near the bottom so hopefully they arenāt found for awhile.Ā
These are super cute!
Better suggestion for next time: Grab a random shoe or two from other boxes that are nowhere near the empty boxes, but similar styles, e.g. flats into flats boxes, heels into heels, even if youāre putting a chunky low heel into high af stiletto boxes, and pop em in there. An empty box s far more sus than a box thatās missing one shoe, as sometimes theyāll take one shoe out of a box as a display :)

GUYS I REALLY WANT A PATAGONIA OR NORTHFACE PUFFY!! Please if you know any tips at REI or similar places or have seen a blog haul with a puffy jacket, let me know!!
REI is hit or miss in my experience. Thereās one near me thatās lax af, but the other ones near me I donāt bother with because the employees are too attentive and their fitting rooms are locked. So scope yours out.Ā
The one I go to has unlocked fitting rooms and the employees arenāt overly attentive. But they are supposed to ask customers if they need any help (I know someone who used to work there), so donāt worry too much if that happens once or twice. Iāve gotten a couple jackets there. I just get like 5-6 jackets all in the same color, and a double of the one I want. Then I take them to the fitting room, untag the one I want, and put it in my bag. I have a medium sized structured purse that zips closed at the top which works really well for bigger jackets and such. Iāve never had a problem there.
Pretty much everything is tagged so youāll need a magnet. Some of the more expensive jackets have 3-Alarm tags and I wonāt go near those. I actually think Dickās is easier for jackets and bigger stuff. Same process, but the employees care far less in my experience. Like I usually have to hunt around to find one to unlock the fitting room for me, and they never even look at what Iām bringing in.Ā

Also, PSA about Ralph Lauren: they have RFIDs in their paper tags. I have a pair of mini office scissors that I keep in my bag to cut through them. The only other paper tag RFIDs I've seen are at Lululemon but always remember to check anyway.

I went to a different Michaelās for Instax film (they were also out š) but they had cameras out! So pumped I finally got one.
I went to Michaelās to get Instax film but they were out. On the upside they had a ton of adorable fake succulent plants. This is very conducive to my lifestyle, seeing as I love the plant aesthetic but am too irresponsible to take care of living plants.
